Bold and the Beautiful’s Lawrence Saint-Victor to Star in BET Plus Movie
Image
Lawrence Saint-Victor’s Carter has certainly run the gamut of emotions on The Bold and the Beautiful lately. He went from feeling elated when he snatched Forrester Creations away from Ridge, Steffy, and Eric to feeling like a heel for betraying his friends and pseudo-family. He also went from thinking he was in love with Hope to having mixed emotions about Daphne. Saint-Victor’s been having a field day with these storylines and now he gets to branch out into the thriller genre.

She Was Framed

On Instagram, the online streaming service BET Plus shared a post with Saint-Victor that stated, “Corruption, conspiracy, and murder! How far will Dani go to prove her innocence and uncover the truth behind her fiancé’s death. 'Definitely Took Me Back': ER Star Talks Chicago Med Season 10 Role
Image
ER star Sharif Atkins is experiencing a little bit of deja vu. Once again, the actor -- who portrayed Dr. Michael Gallant for five years -- is on a medical drama. Once again, that medical drama airs on NBC. But when Atkins guest stars on Chicago Med in the Oct. 2 episode, he won't be wearing a white coat. And he's liable to break viewers' hearts.

In Season 10, Episode 2, entitled "Bite Your Tongue," Atkins portrays Joe Thomas, who's devastated to learn that his son's cancer has returned. As if that wasn't emotional enough, Joe and his wife are startled when the recently arrived Dr. John Frost wants to tell their child the whole truth about what he's facing. Cbr spoke to Atkins about guesting on Chicago Med, and telling a medical story from the other side of the clipboard.

Sharif Atkins Previews His Chicago Med Visit and Its ER Déjà Vu
Image
Sharif Atkins knows a thing or two about medical dramas, and yet, he’s about to enter uncharted hospital territory.

The actor spent five years on ER as Dr. Michael Gallant, but on this Wednesday’s Chicago Med (NBC, 8/7c), Atkins is trading in his white doctor’s coat to play an underage patient’s father this time around. And instead of being the physician, Atkins will be butting heads with one, Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet).

‘Chicago Med’ Preview: ‘ER’s Sharif Atkins Talks Tense Guest Spot
Image
“It was a flashback, for sure,” says Sharif Atkins of stepping back on the set of a medical drama set for his guest spot on Chicago Med. He played Dr. Michael Gallant on ER across five seasons of its 15-year run (1994-2009) on the same network. Now, he appears in the October 1 episode of Med, as Joe Thomas, alongside Crystal Lee Brown as his wife Gina. Their son, Max (Kevin Chacon), is a patient at Gaffney. “It’s being on the other side of the clipboard, right? I’m now the person being taken care of or looked after or what have you,” Atkins tells TV Insider. “It just reminds me of [being on ER]. I remember the first scene that I did, Laura Innes was directing the episode, and I was taking some vitals for an elderly patient. And so it’s really cool to have been back in Chicago and to...

‘Hightown’: Crystal Lee Brown, Cecil Blutcher, Carlos Gomez, Barbara Weetman To Recur On Season 2
Image
Exclusive: Crystal Lee Brown, Cecil Blutcher, Carlos Gomez and Barbara Weetman are set for recurring roles on the second season of Starz’s crime drama series Hightown, starring Monica Raymund, from Jerry Bruckheimer and Lionsgate Television.

The second season picks up about six weeks after the events in the Season 1 finale, around Halloween, in Cape Cod’s desolate, cold but still achingly beautiful off-season. The tourists are gone, and all of our characters are in a different place compared to where they were at the beginning of Season One. The weak are now powerful, and the powerful are now weak. But beyond that, there is darkness beneath the surface of all of our main characters, particularly Jackie and Ray. Both have shadow sides of their personality...

Ethan Hawke and Hubert Point-Du Jour in The Good Lord Bird (2020)
The Good Lord Bird Episode 2 Review: The Wicked Plot
Ethan Hawke and Hubert Point-Du Jour in The Good Lord Bird (2020)
This The Good Lord Bird review contains spoilers.

The Good Lord Bird Episode 2

During several moments of tonight’s The Good Lord Bird, my mind was whisked back to thoughts of My Fair Lady—or at least George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. In those texts, two confirmed old bachelors in Edwardian England think it is their privilege, if not duty, to remake a poor flower girl into their perfect image. It’s a tale of possessive manipulation and outright obliviousness. And it’s given a distinctly American flavor in the first few hours of Ethan Hawke’s Good Lord Bird.

Like those earlier plays, here is a story where privileged white men, even well-intentioned Old John Brown, think it their right to remake Onion into the type of lady they see fit, all too blind by even their rosy colored racism to ask “her” opinion, or realize that she’s actually a boy.

A Final Red Band Trailer for 'Nobody's Fool' with Haddish & Sumpter
"Best way to get over a man, is to get up under a new one." Paramount has released a final red band trailer for Nobody's Fool, the new comedy from filmmaker Tyler Perry, which is just a bit different than his Madea films in the past. This wacky movie stars two of the most popular actresses - Tiffany Haddish and Tika Sumpter - as sisters. Tanya (Haddish) is released from prison and moves in with her sister Danica (Sumpter), who discovers she is in an online relationship with a man that may be "catfishing" her. The full cast includes Whoopi Goldberg, Missi Pyle, Courtney Henggeler, Omari Hardwick, Amber Riley, and Crystal Lee Brown. The first trailer didn't look that great, and this one looks even worse, despite the "dirty" humor that they're allowed to include in this red band trailer. Just not my knid of comedy. Have fun. Here's the...

Tiffany Haddish & Tika Sumpter in First Full Trailer for 'Nobody's Fool'
"If a man looks too good to be true - he is!!" Paramount has debuted the first official trailer for Nobody's Fool, the new comedy from filmmaker Tyler Perry, something a bit different than his Madea films in the past. This wacky movie stars two of the most popular actresses - Tiffany Haddish and Tika Sumpter - as sisters. Tanya (Haddish) is finally released from prison and reunites with her sister Danica (Sumpter), who discovers she is in an online relationship with a man that may be "catfishing" her. The full ensemble cast includes Whoopi Goldberg, Missi Pyle, Courtney Henggeler, Omari Hardwick, Amber Riley, and Crystal Lee Brown. This looks about is absurd and slightly funny as you might expect from Tyler Perry, not really my cup of tea. Maybe some of you will be into seeing this just because of Haddish? Check this out. Forrest Gump, Bambi, Stand And Deliver Among 2011 National Film Registry List
©Paramount Pictures

“My momma always said, .Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get..” That line was immortalized by Tom Hanks in the award-winning movie “Forest Gump” in 1994. Librarian of Congress James H. Billington today selected that film and 24 others to be preserved as cultural, artistic and historical treasures in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.

Spanning the period 1912-1994, the films named to the registry include Hollywood classics, documentaries, animation, home movies, avant-garde shorts and experimental motion pictures. Representing the rich creative and cultural diversity of the American cinematic experience, the selections range from Walt Disney.s timeless classic “Bambi” and Billy Wilder.s “The Lost Weekend,” a landmark film about the devastating effects of alcoholism, to a real-life drama between a U.S. president and a governor over the desegregation of the University of Alabama. The selections also...

Latest National Film Registry Entries Include ‘Forrest Gump,’ ‘Bambi,’ and ‘El Mariachi’
I’m never one to put significant stock in the film-based choices made by any kind of committee — be it an awards group, critics circle, soup kitchen line, etc. — but the National Film Registry is a little different. Not that they’re any different than those aforementioned organization types, but because the government assemblage preserves works deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.” No small potatoes.

Their latest list — created for both public awareness and the opportunity to grumble, as I’ll do in a second — has been unveiled, and the selections are none too out-of-left-field. The biggest of these 25 would have to be Forrest Gump, a choice I fully understand but completely disagree with on an opinion and moral scale. The only other true objection I can raise is toward El Mariachi, film school-level junk from a director whose finest works are the direct result of working with those more talented.
