While many films focus on memorable mythical beasts, dragon movies have proven that the colossal fire-breathing lizards of legend make for some of the best cinematic experiences. Giant dinosaur-like creatures with huge leathery wings and the ability to breathe fire are certainly exciting additions to any story, and it is not hard to see why dragons have been been the focus of tales for centuries a trend that continued with the invention of cinema and birth of filmmaking. The best dragon movies showcase all the wonderful, thrilling, and terrifying ways these beasts can be used on the big screen.
Old stories would often depict dragons as a fearsome threat to the kingdom that needed to be vanquished by heroic knights. Certainly, there are still plenty of movies that play on the destructive nature of dragons. However, dragons in films can also be depicted as misunderstood creatures and even allies to the heroes.

Non-mcu superhero movies often have post-credit scenes that fall flat, lacking execution or follow-up from studios. Shazam's post-credit scene with the evil caterpillar Mister Mind was bizarre and didn't go anywhere in the Dceu timeline. The Flash's post-credit scene with Aquaman was confusing and didn't build hype for his impending sequel or answer audience questions about the multiverse.
The MCU popularized the post-credit scenes trend, and many superhero movies have embarrassed themselves by trying to follow the same formula. Audiences were stunned during the post-credits of Iron Man when Nick Fury appeared, telling Tony Stark about the Avengers Initiative. Since then, MCU films almost always have mid-credit and post-credit scenes that tease future films, and typically cause viewers to rave about them online.
This trend found its way to other superhero franchises, as they wanted to generate the same level of excitement that the MCU did. DC films and...

Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi explained how "unkind" he believes critics were towards the DC Extended Universe film amid its poor box-office showing.
Speaking on The FilmUp Podcast, Levi expressed how much he enjoyed playing the all-powerful yet goofy titular superhero. However, he was disheartened by the critical reception and was put off by how negative the reviews were. He said, "As an experience, I really enjoyed making that movie and I really enjoyed playing that part. I don’t know what the future holds for it all because, unfortunately, the second movie was not as well-received. I mean, the audience score is still quite good, but the critic score was, I don’t know, very oddly and perplexingly low and people were insanely unkind."

Zachary Levi returns for a sequel to DC’s 2019 superhero hit, alongside returning director David F. Sandberg. As such, the follow-up doesn’t quite hit the heights of the first film, but there’s a decent amount of fun to be had along the way.
The plot picks up two years after the events of the previous film, with Billy Batson (Asher Angel / Levi) and his Shazam Family of teens-who-turn-into-adult-superheroes established as a team of costumed crimefighters in their city, even if they occasionally screw up, earning them the label “the Philadelphia Fiascos”. Plot: After the events in the previous film, it appears Shazam has made a bit of a blunder. It’s a big enough of one to bring the Daughters of Atlas to unleash a little Hell on Earth.
Review: One of the joys of David F. Sandberg’s Shazam was the filmmaker’s mix of humor with a touch of horror. The comedic superhero excelled with the laughs. As well as a few moments fitting of the director’s previous films, Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation. And now, he is back with Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Zachary Levi is once again leading the charge. As is the rest of this charming cast. Audience members probably know DC's cinematic landscape will change drastically in the coming years, though this new effort, made during a time when Henry Cavill was still considered Superman, makes a case for these heroes to be included in whatever is coming next for the franchise. Continuing the story of young hero Billy Batson (Asher Angel), Shazam! Fury of the Gods isn't quite a home run, saddled instead with sporadic character beats and a too-long climax. However, those willing to go along with Billy's patchy journey just might find themselves entertained by what this DC sequel has to offer.

DC will need to crank the PR machine into overdrive if they want Shazam! Fury of the Gods to perform heroically at the box office. According to the first round of projections, New Line Cinema‘s superhero sequel is tracking for a low-end domestic debut of $35 million to $40 million. Meanwhile, optimistic analysts think the film will bank as much as the first film, which pulled around $53.5 million in North America.
It’s worth noting the $35 million prediction comes from Nrg, Hollywood’s leading research firm. They know a thing or two about reading tea leaves for blockbuster debuts. Still, they need to be corrected from time to time. There’s a chance Shazam! Fury of the Gods will overperform, but I’m not holding my breath.

"Your world will not survive this!" Warner Bros revealed a second official trailer for their superhero sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, now opening in theaters in March. Dr. Thaddeus Sivana will not return in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. In an interview with Den of Geek, Mark Strong confirmed his absence in the movie, which is currently filming. This news makes sense considering the casting of both Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu in villainous roles. Having Dr. Sivana return in the sequel could be too complicated. Strong (who is hyping up his newest film Cruella) explained why he isn't the sequel.
"I literally spoke to the producer last night, because I saw that Zach Levi tweeted that they're about to start shooting in Atlanta. Dr. Sivana isn't in Shazam! 2. What's happened is, I think Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu and perhaps someone else - they've got some female villains in. When we last saw Shazam’s arch-nemesis Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) during a mid-credits sequence at the end of 2019’s Shazam!, the mad scientist and Seven Deadly Sins host had been defeated by the title hero and was firmly ensconced at Rock Falls Penitentiary.
It was in his cell that he was approached by the super-intelligent alien centipede — and fellow Shazam super-villain — Mister Mind, who offered to form an alliance with Sivana and promised that the Seven Realms would be theirs for the taking.
While the sequel, now titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods, has been steadily ramping up since late last year as production began to resume post-pandemic, Strong has not been mentioned among the various returning and new cast members suiting up for the film. Today he makes it official when asked by Den of Geek: Sivana is sitting the sequel out.

Zachary Levi has established himself as the most lighthearted superhero in the Dceu in the role of Shazam!, the magic-powered alter-ego of teenager Billy Batson. But that does not mean Levi does not see the potential of a dark take on his superhero character. When a fan asked the actor on Twitter if he would like to see a cinematic adaptation of the comic series Kingdom Come, which features possibly the darkest take on the character of Shazam ever, Levi gave his full support to the idea.
"I have [read the comics]. And I wholeheartedly agree. Would love to see that happen, whether I'm involved or not. @thealexrossart and @MarkWaid created something no short of transcendent in that piece. It speaks to so many facets of the human condition, using superhuman characters. Superb."

In the world of superhero movies, it is hard to think of two films that are more dissimilar than Shazam! and Logan. One is a bright and cheery kids movie, while the other is a gritty and grim meditation on growing old and dying. Yet, as David F. Sandberg, who directed Shazam! recently pointed out on Twitter, the two films have something in common in terms of how they acknowledge the larger superhero world they inhabit.
"In the world of Shazam the events of Man of Steel & BvS happened but we also see that there are toys and merchandise of these characters and people who are fans, like Freddy. Kind of like how in Logan we see that X-Men comic books exist but X-Men are also real at the same time."
In retrospect, both the movies using toys and comics to acknowledge their superhero setting was a stroke of genius,...

Ever since Man of Steel debuted in 2013, the Dceu has been battling a general perception that the films in the franchise are unnecessarily dark and "edgy". The problem is a vocal minority of fans loudly dismiss any Dceu films that lean more towards comedy or fluff. Director of Shazam. David F. Sandberg recently had such a run-in with a fan on Twitter. When the fan wrote, "We aren't a fan of comedy Shazam", Sandberg replied with a piece of fanart, and an attached comment, "Great, then you'll love the new direction we're taking the character in! #ItsNotAPhaseMom".

For the last few days, a rumor has been making the rounds on the internet that Henry Cavill will have a cameo in Shazam 2, currently in development. The rumor has been picked up by enough news outlets for the director of the franchise, David F. Sandberg, to finally take to Twitter to clear the air. The filmmaker refused to either deny or confirm the rumors, because of how quickly things can change behind the scenes of a film production.
"Not going to comment on casting rumors for several reasons. One being you can't be sure about anything until it's happened. Halfway through shooting Shazam the plan was still for Henry Cavill to be in it. Scoopers could have scooped that and been right at the time but wrong in the end. Though I can confirm with ~90% certainty that Shazam will appear in Shazam 2. So if you're a fan...

Netflix's White Lines is a wild ride of violence, all-night parties, and falling in love with people you shouldn't fall in love with. The Ibiza-set story follows Zoe Walker (Laura Haddock) as she tries to figure out exactly what happened to her brother, Axel (Tom Rhys Harries), 20 years ago when he left home in Manchester, England, and set off for a new life in Ibiza. It takes all 10 episodes of the first (and perhaps only) season to get to the bottom of his disappearance, and the end is definitely not what we expected.
Axel is best friends with his younger sister, Zoe, and wants her to come along with him to Ibiza when their dad kicks him out. She stays behind, though, because she's still underage. She promises Axel that when she turns 18, she'll come join him and his friends in their lavish life. He disappears, though, and Zoe...

Netflix has given viewers their first look at White Lines. The crime drama is made up of ten episodes, which premiere next month. Money Heist creator Alex Pina is behind the streaming service's new series and it looks just as addicting as his previous work. From the start of the slow burning trailer, Pina fans will more than likely be sucked into the storyline and ready to binge all ten episodes in one single weekend.
The story of White Lines begins when the body of a legendary Manchester DJ is discovered twenty years after his mysterious disappearance from Ibiza. When his sister returns to the beautiful Spanish island to find out what happened, her investigation leads her through a thrilling world of dance clubs, lies and cover-ups, forcing her to confront the darker sides of her own character in a place where people live life on the edge. It should...

It was widely reported that DC Comics and Warner Bros. announced Shazam 2 is officially happening over the weekend at Ccxp. We need to pump the brakes just a bit on that, though. Over the weekend, Warner Bros. brought a big showing for DC Films to Comic Con Experience in Brazil, which included the first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, a brief preview of The Suicide Squad from the set with director James Gunn and news that Matt Reeves will bring The Batman to the event next year. While there were reports that the studio confirmed the Shazam sequel as well, that isn't the case.
According to a new report, Warner Bros. confirmed that they didn't officially announce Shazam 2 at Ccxp. That said, it doesn't mean the sequel isn't in development. It's just that Warner Bros. is likely waiting to announce it at a later date once they've firmly decided that they're moving forward with it,...

When DC Comics revived Captain Marvel in the 1970s, it was out of step with the audience and struggled to find success. Ever since, the publisher has been trying to find a formula to make the character and his world relevant to the readership. With Carol Danvers’ popularity as Captain Marvel ascendant, DC finally capitulated and began calling Billy Batson’s alter ego Shazam to keep the two from being confused.
With Captain Marvel out in March and Shazam out in April, there’s a good reason to rename the latter. (No one back in the day would ever have imagined either getting a big screen treatment or coming out so closely together.) Warner Home Entertainment has released Shazam in all the usual formats this week and it remains a fun, but not perfect film.
