Tokyo Comic-Con took place over the weekend, and while the event was light on major reveals, an official theatre standee for James Gunn's Superman was spotted as part of a display on the convention floor.

Unfortunately, the poster doesn't feature any new imagery from the movie, only giving us another look at the Kingdom Come-inspired logo. But if this sort of promotional material is beginning to show up in the wild, there's a good chance we'll see a new poster prior to the release of the first trailer.

Still no Eta on the highly-anticipated teaser, but we know it will be released before the end of the year.

Gunn recently confirmed that the Dcu reboot has scheduled some additional pickups. "Not a few days [of additional shooting]. We’re doing a day and a half of pickup shots. No scenes. No reshoots. Just a handful of individual shots to enhance the film.

James Gunn is clarifying reports that suggested Superman would undergo reshoots and confirming that he will only film a few “pickup shots.”

The writer, director, and DC Studios co-head took to social media to inform his fans about the additional filming for the superhero film.

“Sort of. Not a few days. We’re doing a day and a half of pickup shots. No scenes. No reshoots. Just a handful of individual shots to enhance the film,” Gunn shared on Threads.

Gunn wrapped filming for Superman at the end of July, taking to Instagram to thank everyone involved in the production.

“God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life,” Gunn wrote. “I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered...

James Gunn’s “Superman” is not having reshoots but is going to film a few “pickup shots,” the writer-director recently confirmed on his Threads account. Gunn is well known for avoiding reshoots as much as possible on his movies, which is a rare feat given he’s directed major superhero tentpoles like Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy and DC’s “The Suicide Squad.” Reshoots are often standard parts of production on comic book tentpoles.

James Gunn has now confirmed that we will see more than one character from the Creature Commandos animated series in the upcoming Superman reboot.

We already knew that Frank Grillo is set to appear as Rick Flag Sr. after the actor was spotted with the captive Man of Steel (David Corenswet) in set photos, but who else could potentially make their live-action Dcu debut in the movie?

There's a decent chance Viola Davis will reprise her The Suicide Squad role as Amanda Waller, and there's a lot of speculation that Circe (Anya Chalotra) could make her presence felt following the events of Creature Commandos' two-episode premiere.

When asked if we could see Chalotra play the powerful sorceress on the big screen in a recent interview, Gunn responded: "There's definitely a chance Circe exists in other media."

The Marvel Studios fanfare is nothing short of iconic and there's been a lot of excitement and intrigue surrounding what DC Studios will come up with for the Dcu.

We got our first glimpse of it before Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, though there was speculation at the time that the relatively simple intro would perhaps change from project to project depending on the character.

A fan on social media website Bluesky recently asked Gunn, "I was surprised to see the Superman DC ID at the start. Will all DC stuff use the Superman ID, or will the character featured change based on [the] project?" To that, he responded, "He's our MGM lion. It will usually be him."

While the "usually" is interesting, it sounds like DC Studios plans to make Superman the focal point of the Dcu and the character this world revolves around. That's not a bad thing after...

This doesn't sound like an actual test-screening, so much as Gunn unveiling an early cut of the film for friends and family. In any case, THR is "keeping the buzz about the movie itself in our own Fortress of Solitude" for the time being, but we have heard that the response was very positive indeed (not exactly a huge surprise).

Earlier this year, James Gunn suggested that Superman wouldn’t need any reshoots, but it appears the cameras will be rolling once again. THR’s Heat Vision Newsletter states that “the movie will be doing a few days of additional shooting in Los Angeles in the near term” after recent test screenings.

For a film as big as Superman, a few extra days of reshoots are pretty minor, unlike some other comic-book movies I could mention. When Gunn was asked about possible Superman reshoots this summer, he said he’s “done a total of one day of reshoots on my past two films combined.“

I’m looking forward to seeing more from the film; hopefully, we may even see the first teaser trailer by the end of the year.

The first official image from James Gunn's Superman reboot showed an already battle-weary Man of Steel (David Corenswet) pulling his boots on to go deal with another threat to Metropolis, as a mysterious purple blast illuminated the sky.

There were several theories relating to the villain responsible for this attack, but after the season premiere of Creature Commandos, speculation has mounted that it could be Circe (Anya Chalotra).

Not only do Circe's magical abilities manifest with a similarly-coloured glow, but we know that the powerful sorceress was apprehended in Metropolis at some point thanks to her mugshot (how the police were able to get her to pose for that photo is another matter).

When the cast of James Gunn's Superman reboot (then titled Superman: Legacy) began to expand with the addition of several DC Comics heroes such as Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific and Green Lantern Guy Gardner, there was some concern that David Corenswet's Man of Steel might be a little overshadowed in his own movie.

While the first Dcu big-screen feature will likely lay the groundwork for a Justice League (or Justice Society) team-up down the line, Gunn has now assured fans that Superman is "not an ensemble story," and the focus will remain on the trio of main characters.

“At the middle of everything is Clark, Lois and Lex," said the filmmaker during an Instagram Live interview. "It’s about these three characters.”

While all eyes are on Creature Commandos this week, there's even more excitement for next year's Superman. The true start of the new Dcu, it seems the hope is that the movie will put DC Studios on the map and separate this franchise from the Dceu.

Ccxp is kicking off in Brazil this week and, with James Gunn recently confirming he'll be missing the event, it's looking increasingly unlikely that it will feature a Superman trailer debut of any sort.

However, merchandise is available at the event and much is being said about the blue "S" logo you can see in the X post below. Is it a nod to the Fortress of Solitude? Some kind of Ultraman or Anti-Superman shield? We don't know, but it's generating a lot of discussion among fans on social media.

We had heard that Superman would likely be test-screened at some point this month, and THR has now confirmed that director James Gunn is currently showing his Dcu reboot to select audiences for the very first time.

Test-screening attendees are usually under strict embargo when it comes to discussing the movies they see, but as we know, this doesn't always prevent a few details (sometimes more than a few) from finding their way online. We assume the studio will be particularly careful when it comes to any major spoilers for this movie being disclosed, but it's best to be careful while scrolling on social media just in case.

At any rate, now that we know test-screenings are being held, you can bet there'll be at least a couple of fake reports doing the rounds in no time.

While chatting with THR about the upcoming Creature Commandos series, Gunn was asked about the Superman movie and was full of praise for his leading man.

“Superman is an enormous bear of a movie. It’s completely different from [Creature Commandos] in every way, but it’s very much fantastic as well,” Gunn said. “Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to freak everyone out with how great he is. He is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do everything. The man is incredible.”

December is finally here but will we get a Superman teaser trailer before Christmas? That's the prevailing theory right now and, even after all those set photos, our first look at the Man of Tomorrow in action promises to "break the internet."

Yesterday evening, a new Superman poster found its way online which was reportedly made specifically for next month's Ccxp event in Brazil (where it's been widely rumoured the first trailer for the DC Studios movie will be released).

It's a fantastic piece of work which shows David Corenswet's Man of Steel using his immense strength to stop a speeding locomotive. Filmmaker James Gunn later took to Threads to confirm that, unfortunately, this isn't an officially released piece of artwork. 

Chances are we will get an actual poster before the year is over, though DC Studios has previously shared promo shots of Superman suiting up and chilling on the moon alongside his loyal sidekick, Krypto. 

In a recent interview with Collider, Gunn was asked whether he'd ever consider making a Daily Planet sitcom in the same vein as The Office. 

"Listen, I had no more fun days on Superman than with the Daily Planet staff,...

Yesterday, "Writer. Columnist. Filmmaker" Dan Marcus claimed to have learned that there's "enormous pressure" from Warner Bros. for the Superman teaser trailer to be "received well."

He'd claim that multiple versions have been presented to "the studio," only for them to be left wanting more. Pushed for clarification, he'd claim that "the trailer editor showed a cut to Michael De Luca from Warner Bros. for approval and was met with 'Make it better.'"

Anyone who knows anything about how marketing campaigns like this work will be aware that it's perfectly normal for a studio to create several cuts of a trailer; some will be more spoilery than others, for example, and each will have a different look and feel as executives attempt to figure out how best to promote an upcoming blockbuster.

Creature Commandos is right around the corner and the hope among fans is that the Max animated series will set the tone for the Dcu and perhaps even answer a few lingering questions everyone has about this reboot.

There are already rumblings about a Batman appearance, suggesting the Dark Knight is an established hero in this world. That's something we took as a given when it was made clear The Brave and the Bold will introduce the hero's 10-year-old son, Damian, as Robin.

Answering a fan on social media, DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn explained why he intends to skip the origin stories of both the Man of Tomorrow and Batman.

"I’m not telling Batman and Superman’s origin stories again because everyone knows them," he noted before launching into a defence of James Mangold's plans for a Swamp Thing movie.

Superman fans have been anxiously awaiting a first look at some footage from James Gunn's upcoming Dcu reboot, and the first teaser for the movie might be released online a little sooner than we were expecting.

Gunn has already confirmed that he will not be present at Ccxp in São Paulo, which runs from the 5th to the 8th of December, but we had heard that the trailer will debut on Wednesday, December 25th during one of the scheduled NBA games.

Now, Collider is reporting that the trailer is tentatively expected to arrive online around mid-December, and could screen in theaters with Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King on December 20.

Several online scoopers seem to have backed this up with the usual nods and winks, and since this would be around the same time the fourth episode of Creature Commandos drops, there's speculation that Gunn might be planning some kind...

We're still not exactly sure when the first trailer for James Gunn's Superman will be released (you can find out what we've been told here) or what we can expect from the footage, but actor Frank Grillo has now shared his reaction to being given a "sneak peek" at the highly-anticipated teaser.

Grillo, who will make his live-action debut as Rick Flag Sr. after voicing the character in next month's Creature Commandos, revealed to Collider that he got to see a "little bit" of the trailer.

“I got a sneak peek at a little bit of the trailer, and I’m not joking, and I’m not blowing this out of proportion, my skin was hot and I had goosebumps. That’s how great it is."

DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn still isn't sure which Dcu project he'll direct after Superman, but he's not short of a few options.

While speaking to Collider, Gunn reiterated that he is heavily involved with upcoming projects Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns, but has yet to decide which movie or series he'll step back behind the camera for.

“I've got like four different things that I could do, and I'm going to kind of jump back and forth between those things," Gunn told the site. "I'm going to see which one really speaks to me, and that's the one I'm gonna do.”

We may never know the full list of actors who auditioned for the lead role in DC Studios' Superman. However, British actor Tom Brittney has now confirmed he was among those who got to suit up for James Gunn.

Reports swirled at the time that he was a finalist for the role, with David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult rounding out the final three. The latter was eventually cast as Lex Luthor, with Corenswet ultimately given the opportunity to play the Man of Tomorrow.

Whether Gunn will find Brittney, best known for roles in Grantchester and Invasion, another character in the Dcu currently remains to be seen.

Talking on the Hellish podcast, Brittney revealed, "It was actually Henry Cavill's Superman suit - it was his actual suit. It takes about half an hour to get into it - to get sewn into it. And yeah, I think I might have accidentally ripped it.

After narrowly missing out on the title role in The Batman, Nicholas Hoult was approached by DC Studios and eventually cast as Lex Luthor...after initially being eyed to suit up as Superman.

Talking to Josh Horowitz, Hoult confirmed he suited up for a Superman screen test but realised he'd be a better fit for Lex while reading James Gunn's Superman script.

"It's funny, because when I first read the script, I remember reading it and there was a little inkling part of me that was like 'Oh, I think you would have fun playing Lex,'" the British actor recalled. "And I kind of didn't say anything, and then when James [Gunn] called me to play Lex, I did kind of cackle - I think is how I'd describe it. I didn't say anything."

In 2024, DC Studios‘ significant shift got real. The Dceu, that massive world of superheroes we’ve known for years, took a turn as James Gunn and Peter Safran kicked off a new vision that promised something different, something ambitious. The path they’ve mapped out? A lineup of movies and TV shows. And it all starts with Superman in 2025.

Superman (2025) – A New Man of Steel

Forget another origin story. Gunn’s Superman, originally titled Superman: Legacy, took a bold route, diving right into the Man of Steel’s life as an established hero on Earth. Releasing July 11, 2025, this Superman, played by David Corenswet, is already a reporter at the Daily Planet, already knows Lois Lane (played by The Marvelous Mrs.

Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan), and yes, he’s already aware he’s an alien with powers that are pretty much unmatched.

Myriad Pictures will launch sales at AFM on the psychological thriller McVeigh from Symbolic Exchange and CinemaWerks starring Alfie Allen as Timothy McVeigh, the deadliest domestic terrorist in United States history.

The film premiered at Tribeca Festival this year and is directed by Mike Ott. It tells of the titular military veteran, who masterminded the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P Murrah Federal Building inOklahoma City that resulted in the death of 168 people and injured many hundreds more.

Metamorpho is one of several DC Comics heroes that will be joining the Man of Steel in the upcoming Dcu Superman reboot, but Anthony Carrigan is the only actor who wasn't spotted on set when the movie was shooting earlier this year.

This understandably led to speculation that the character would be brought to life via CGI, but director James Gunn has now revealed that Carrigan will don a practical costume to play the Element Man.

Some have taken this to mean that Metamorpho will be an entirely practical creation, but we're sure at least some VFX will be utilized to bring his unique powers to the screen. In the comics, Rex Mason has the ability to transmute his body into a wide variety of elemental compounds and form them at will. This allows him to - among other things - stretch, bounce, elongate, and reform himself like rubber or plastic.

We have a long list of reasons to be excited about Superman, and the fact Nicholas Hoult is the Dcu's Lex Luthor - easily one of DC Studios' most exciting casting additions - has to be somewhere near the top of that.

The expectation is that this version of the villain will be a full-blown mad scientist; seeing as Lex has been put centre stage on film and television countless times, it will be down to filmmaker James Gunn and Hoult to put a new spin on the Man of Steel's greatest foe.

Talking to Deadline earlier today, the actor said, "I'm a fan of Superman and Lex Luthor as a character, so hopefully we've done something special with it that people enjoy."

Nicholas Hoult is teasing his Superman role as Lex Luthor in the upcoming DC Studios film.

During the AFI Fest, Hoult talked to Deadline about working on the superhero movie where he will play the villain.

“I’m a fan of Superman and Lex Luthor as a character, so hopefully we’ve done something special with it that people enjoy,” Hoult told us.

Hoult also praised the film’s director, James Gunn, who is also the co-head of DC Studios.

“I just loved working with James Gunn,” he said. “I think he’s an incredible director and has such a great sense of that world, that story, those characters. I just put my trust in him.”

Earlier this week, a list of action figures for the upcoming McFarlane Toys Superman line was leaked online, seemingly confirming that David Corenswet's Man of Steel will indeed face-off against Ultraman in the movie.

This powerful villain's involvement was first rumored by scooper Mttsh, and some set photos of Supes doing battle with a masked individual with a big "U" on his chest appeared to leave little doubt.

Gunn has previously weighed in on the rumor, and while some took his comments (see below) to mean that Ultraman will not appear, he clearly chose his wording very carefully.

Superman set photos revealed more about the movie than filmmaker James Gunn probably would have liked, including a first look at a mysterious masked villain with a "U" on his chest who we saw make short work of the Man of Steel.

Much has been said about whether it's Ultraman or Ulysses, but the former has now been confirmed courtesy of an official listing of upcoming "DC Direct" merchandise.

We still believe "Ultraman" will be a Lex Luthor creation and likely a Superman clone gone wrong. Lending weight to the theory Lex is a mad scientist is the fact his figure will have a "Baby Kaiju."

There's also a full-sized Kaiju we'd imagine battles the title hero at some point. A few months ago, a description of an early trailer mentioned Supes squaring off with a monster of some sort.

As for who or what "Baby Joe" is, your guess is as good as ours!

Preston, Esq. in the Bill & Ted movies (and for being one of the vampires in The Lost Boys), Alex Winter also has many directing credits to his name, including the 1993 cult classic oddball comedy Freaked. His latest feature directorial effort is Adulthood, which is described as a darkly comic modern noir – and Variety reports that Adulthood has secured a U.S. and Canada distribution deal with Republic Pictures. A release date has not yet been announced.

Paramount Global label Republic Pictures taken US and Canadian distribution rights to Alex Winter-directed Adulthood.

The parent company revived the Republic label in 2023 with a remit to acquire third-party fare. Paramount Global’s chief content licensing officer Dan Cohen is also president of Republic Pictures.

Cohen shared news of the acquisition in a keynote address at Mipcom today.

Cohen described Adulthood as a Coen Brothers-esque caper gone wrong. It stars Josh Gad, Kaya Scodelario,Anthony Carrigan and Winter himself, who is known for playing Bill in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. “But what he really is is a director.

Superman director James Gunn has taken to social media to share his reaction to an AI trailer for the Dcu reboot that's been doing the rounds, and his three emoji response says it all.

The fake teaser - which, believe it or not, has actually fooled a few people online - was shown on the French 2 news channel over the weekend. It begins with a snippet from an interview about the Super/Man Christopher Reeve documentary, before showing a couple of laughably unconvincing shots of the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnaham).

The trailer also uses footage from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, and whoever created it didn't even bother to alter Henry Cavill's face to make him look a bit more like his successor as our next big-screen Superman.
