Long before his success with the Apple TV+ series,Severance, Adam Scott had a role inParks and Recreation. The acor recentrlt revealed who he thinks should lead a potential spinoff series.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Scott was asked which Parks and Recreation character he would choose to center a spinoff around. "Probably Jerry [portrayed by Jim O'Heir]," the actor said. "I think because when we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee. I'd like to see how that worked out, if there were any scandals, or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run."
O'Heir portrayed the lovable Garry "Jerry" Gergich on Parks and Recreation from the series' pilot episode. The character was an optimistic and kind-hearted employee of the Department of Parks and Recreation in Pawnee, Indiana. Despite his longstanding presence and positive demeanor, Jerry...

Broadly speaking, the box office has been on shaky ground over the last handful of years. Ever since the pandemic shut down theaters all across the world for months on end in 2020, the industry has been in a constant state of flux. Streaming has upended all traditional logic, and Hollywood is increasingly trying to hit a smaller moving target. One of the biggest genres that has become a question mark in the modern era is comedy, specifically of the theatrical variety. The question is, can "The Naked Gun," a new take on the Leslie Nielsen classic, help save comedies at the box office?
As of this writing, director Akiva Schaffer's "The Naked Gun," which is produced by "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, is looking at a debut between $23 and $32 million when it arrives in theaters next weekend, per Box Office Theory. For what it's worth, even on the low end,...

Chris Pratt kicked off the year by starring in The Electric State, the critically panned sci-fi film that cost over $300 million to make. 13 years ago, he starred in a forgotten rom-com that just got a disappointing streaming update. Pratt stars alongside Jason Segel (Shrinking) and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) in The Five-Year Engagement, a romantic comedy following Tom (Segel) and Violet (Blunt), a newly-engaged couple that keeps running into obstacles before they can make it down the aisle. The Five-Year Engagement is currently streaming on Netflix, but the streamer has announced that the last day to watch the film will be July 31. It earned mediocre scores of 64% from critics and 51% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed only $54 million at the box office against a $30 million budget.
In addition to starring in the film, Jason Segel also wrote the script for The Five-Year Engagement with Nicholas Stoller, who...

This was the first time that Ryan Seacrest hosted a game show, and he also had big shoes to fill. Seacrest replaced veteran Pat Sajak in September 2024. Up to this point, he was a radio personality and television host. Seacrest is best known for hosting American Idol, which is a competition show on another level. Season 42 of Wheel of Fortune aired its final episode. Fans looked back and graded Seacrest’s first season.
Tell Us What You Wheely Think
Wheel Watchers shared their thoughts on Reddit. The original poster started things off by writing, “My thoughts on Seacrest’s first season.” The fan enjoyed the season and Seacrest’s presence. “I thought this season was great!!! If you watched the ending of tonight’s episode, Seacrest said that this season has given away over $11,000,000 in cash in prizes total!!! Also, I think he is a good host!!!” However, the fan did have one critique.

Not only does Nick Offerman not have any time or patience for homophobia, but he also wants viewers to know that Ron Swanson, his conservative “Parks and Recreation” character, doesn’t either.
Michael Flynn Jr., a self-described “patriot” and the son of retired United States Army lieutenant general and former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, tweeted Monday an edited Gif of Swanson throwing a Pride flag into a dumpster with the caption, “Just wanted to post how I feel about ‘pride’ month.”
The tweet drew a sharp response from Offerman himself, who coldly reminded Flynn, “Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb f—k. #HappyPride”

If you’re going to be an online idiot, says Nick Offerman, don’t do it in Ron Swanson’s name.
The admonition came after Michael Flynn Jr., son of former Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn, tweeted a short video of Parks and Recreation character Swanson tossing a rainbow flag into a dumpster. The tweet coincided with the first day of Pride Month. “Good morning and Happy Sunday! No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about ‘pride’ month,” Flynn posted.
The clip was a doctored version of a Parks and Rec video in which Swanson dumped his computer after learning it was serving him customized ads.

At least some fans would’ve been surprised to see A Minecraft Movie reach a few million short of a billion-dollar box office. The film only has a 48% Rotten Tomatoes score, meaning that critics didn’t have many great things to say about it. However, there have been actual billion-dollar movies with awful Rt scores.
The poor reviews of such movies didn’t stop the viewers from watching them in theaters. Rotten Tomatoes is a pretty standard metric to analyse the critical reception of a movie, and anything below 60 means it isn’t a great film. Here are some blockbuster films that didn’t get any love from the critics.
15. The Lion King (2019)
Box Office Collection: $1,662,020,819
Rt Score: 51% Rotten
Audience Score: 88%
The curiosity to see how your favorite animated film from your childhood fared in live-action brought many viewers to the theater. And to be honest, it was a soulless recreation of the original.

Ethan Coen’s “Honey Don’t!” brought Cannes Film Festival to a flashy close on May 23 with the likes of Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza stunning on the red carpet. But the movie’s biggest A-list star, Chris Evans, was nowhere to be found. What gives? It turns out Captain America chose his family over one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals.
Evans revealed his whereabouts on Instagram (via People) a few days after “Honey Dont!” screened as the final movie in Cannes’ official selection. He wrote on his story: “I wish I could’ve been with my incredible cast and filmmakers at Cannes, but it was my mother’s 70th birthday and there are some things you just can’t miss! Congrats everyone!!”
Qualley headlines “Honey Don’t!” as a small-town private detective named Honey O’Donahue, who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church.

Ethan Coen’s raunchy, gory detective movie “Honey Don’t!,” starring Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans, premiered to a rowdy Cannes crowd at midnight on Friday. The film earned a six-minute standing ovation, with writer Tricia Cooke declaring: “More queer cinema all the time!”
“That’s a fun way to end the festival,” Coen said as he took the microphone and quieted the clapping crowd. “Oh, and short, for a movie that started after midnight. Very humane.”
Indeed, the 90-minute “Honey Don’t” didn’t begin unspooling until nearly 12:30 a.m., after a half-hour delay entering the Palais. But the Cannes crowd didn’t seem to mind the wait, cheering loudly for Coen, Qualley, Plaza and the rest of the team when they finally entered the theater, then clapping vigorously for every producer and distributor card before the movie began.
One audience member even yelled, “I love you Aubrey!

Focus Features had the final slot of the Official Selection here in Cannes this evening with Ethan Coen’s Honey Don’t!, a dark comedy reuniting Margaret Qualley with the filmmaker on the heels of last year’s Drive-Away Dolls. Coen & Co. received a 6.5-minute ovation in the wee hours of the morning.
“Fun finish to the festival, yah?” said Coen to a lively crowd.

The Cannes Film Festival is underway, and Ethan Coen will have the distinction of capping off the year’s finest in cinema with a midnight premiere (this Friday) of his next solo-directing effort, Honey Don’t! Written with his partner Tricia Cooke, the neo-noir brings together Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, and Chris Evans. While the duo plans a trilogy of lesbian B-movies we’ve been waiting to hear of the reported reunion between Joel and Ethan Coen, which was to be a “very bloody,” Blood Simple-esque horror film.
Well, the long-anticipated reunion isn’t happening soon, but it’s still very much in the cards. “Oh yeah. I assume we will [work together again],” Ethan Coen told THR. “We’ve written something. My god, it’s at least a year ago now we wrote something to do together. And we have an old thing that we’ve written. And maybe we’ll write something new.

Audiences have countless associations with John Mulaney. He’s a virtuosic comic. He’s a sketch performer. He’s a Broadway star. He’s an Emmy-winning writer. He’s a talk show host. In a sense, he’s Spider-Pig. What we don’t talk about enough is how great Mulaney is as a TV comedy guest star, but now that he’s popped up in Season Two of Poker Face, we really should.
To be clear: I’m not talking about Mulaney’s work as a series regular or sketch comic. In the former case, this would potentially require us all to engage with his short-lived namesake sitcom Mulaney, something I didn’t care to do at the time, which put me squarely in the majority of critics and TV owners. Focus Features has released the first trailer for Honey Don’t!, the latest film from Oscar-winning director Ethan Coen. Set to premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and open in U.S. theaters on August 22, the dark comedy stars Margaret Qualley, Chris Evans, and Aubrey Plaza in a twisted tale of small-town secrets and spiritual deception.
The film follows Honey O’Donahue (Qualley), a sharp-tongued private investigator in a dusty desert town, as she probes a string of mysterious deaths linked to a charismatic preacher (Evans) and his enigmatic church. The trailer teases snappy dialogue, noir-style intrigue, and a retro aesthetic reminiscent of Coen’s earlier works like Fargo and No Country for Old Men.
Aubrey Plaza co-stars as a local police officer who appears to form a flirty alliance with Honey, adding a layer of queer subtext that has already sparked buzz online. The film is the second installment in...

I don't know how you overlook a new Coen brothers movie, even if it's just one Coen doing the directing, but 2024's "Drive-Away Dolls" (aka "Henry James' Drive-Away Dykes") somehow came and went without much of a fuss. To be fair, the darkly comedic yarn about two friends (Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan) who hit the road with the wrong drive-away car (which happens to have a man's severed head in its trunk) was not showered with the kinds of raves that greet most Coen brothers films. Still, the reviews were mostly positive. A year after its theatrical release, I'm still laughing myself silly over Bill Camp's portrayal of the badly beaten Curlie.
While "Drive-Away Dolls" couldn't muster up much in the way of moviegoer enthusiasm, I've got to think Ethan Coen's latest film, "Honey Don't!", will stir up more than a little interest. As with his last film,...

Following last year’s overlooked Drive-Away Dolls, Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke are back with another comedy, this time paying homage to the neo-noir. Honey Don’t, starring Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, and Chris Evans, follows Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private investigator who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church. Ahead of a Cannes premiere and August 22 release, Focus Features have now unveiled the first trailer.
“Over the past 20 years, we’ve been writing this lesbian B movie trilogy,” Cooke told Collider a few years back. “Not really a trilogy, but the idea was to write three queer B movies that I always thought would just kind of sit in the drawer and our kids would look at one day when they were old and get some laughs. And now we’ve made one of them.”

While the Coen Brothers seemingly “broke up” a few years ago (though technically untrue and they are already plotting a reunion), the younger Ethan Coen has been the most prolific of the two siblings. Having directed three films in four years, though barely a soul saw his Jerry Lee Lewis documentary in 2022, Ethan follows up last year’s “Drive-Away Dolls” with a new detective dark comedy called “Honey Don’t!”

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament has returned, and as you’ll see from the most profitable films of 2024, a movie’s game doesn’t end at the box office. Rather, its downstream revenues and subsequent home windows must be taken into account. Streaming continues to be a wildcard: While traditional motion picture studios such as Disney, Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount and Universal rely on lucrative pay two and pay three streamer deals to catapult their slates into the black, those streamers who’ve embraced theatrical (specifically Amazon MGM Studios and Apple Original Films) have a clandestine metric as to how they evaluate a movie’s post-cinema success. By traditional studio P&l standards, some of those releases would be considered flops. Given that, Apple and Amazon are excluded from this year’s survey. The Most Valuable Blockbuster series runs later rather than sooner as we gather the best data possible...

Glen Powell's star power continues to be on the rise, as the actor is teaming up with comedy icon Judd Apatow for the acclaimed writer/director's new film. Despite acting in titles like Everybody Wants Some and Scream Queens for years, Glen Powell has experienced a surge in wider popularity of late thanks to roles in movies like Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone but You, Hit Man, and Twisters. Powell is already quite busy, with roles in Edgar Wright's remake of The Running Man, the Hulu series Chad Powers, and the thriller Huntington, but it doesn't look like he plans on slowing down anytime soon.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures is fast-tracking an original comedy about a country-western star in free fall from Judd Apatow and Glenn Powell, with both serving as co-writers of the script. Apatow is also set to direct the film, while Powell will star in the movie.
