Louis Leterrier has directed the action films The Transporter, Transporter 2, Unleashed, and Fast X, the action comedies The Brothers Grimsby and The Takedown, the mystery thriller Now You See Me, the fantasy adventure Clash of the Titans, and the comic book adaptation The Incredible Hulk (not to mention the TV shows The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Lupin), and over the decades his films have racked up $2 billion at the box office. Last May, we learned that he’ll be directing and producing the film 11817, working from a screenplay by Matthew Robinson (The Invention of Lying), which will see him venturing into the sci-fi horror realm. That same month, it was announced that Kingsley Ben-Adir (Bob Marley: One Love) and Greta Lee (Past Lives) would be starring in the film… but now it looks like Ben-Adir has had to drop out, with Wagner Moura (Civil War) stepping in as his replacement.

Over the past decade, Dylan O'Brien has quickly become one of the most in-demand young actors in Hollywood. Since his breakout role in The Maze Runner series in 2014, O'Brien has made a big impression in everything from real-life thrillers like Deepwater Horizon to big-budget franchise entries like Bumblebee, and recently took on the role of comedy legend Dan Aykroyd in Jason Reitman's Saturday Night Live origin story Saturday Night.
Despite his recent success, O'Brien's best reviewed movie so far landed with a thud in theaters. 2020's Love and Monsters was hailed by critics as a highly enjoyable sci-fi romp, and boasts a very impressive 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Plenty of critics singled out O'Brien's performance as a major part of the film's success and marking him as a star on the rise. Sadly, despite the critical applause, Love and Monsters was a box office flop, grossing only $1.1 million against its $30 million budget.

Time travel is why audiences haven't already seen Edge of Tomorrow 2. Doug Liman, the director of the original 2014 movie, recently explained how hard it is to develop a good sci-fi movie featuring time travel.
While speaking with Collider to promote his Apple TV+ movie The Instigators, Liman explained that he is still working hard on figuring out the story for Edge of Tomorrow 2. "I mean, Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise have never been more on top of their game than they are right now. I'd be crazy not to be trying to, you know, figure out how to make a sequel. So I am spending time trying to crack it," the director shared. "On the flip side, time travel's really tough. Like really, really tough. Doug Liman and Tom Cruise haven’t shut down the idea of an Edge of Tomorrow sequel quite yet.
Ten years following the release of the 2014 sci-fi action film, the filmmaker told Empire magazine that he and the actor “keep talking about” doing a follow-up because “we love that world.”
“Tom and I just actually rewatched it about two months ago, because I hadn’t seen it in 10 years,” Liman added. “I was like, ‘Wow, that is a really good movie.’”
The original film, also starring Emily Blunt, follows a soldier (Cruise) who keeps reliving the same day over and over again while fighting aliens. Though Edge of Tomorrow had a sluggish start during its box office debut, it seemingly found longevity with viewers throughout the past decade.
“I haven’t necessarily always had the good fortune of having movies that have huge opening weekends,” the director admitted. “Bourne Identity...

After 10 years of waiting, “Edge of Tomorrow 2” may finally be closer to a greenlight.
Director Doug Liman confirmed to Empire magazine that Tom Cruise is still determined to get an “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel made. The film starred Cruise as an army general who, paired with Emily Blunt’s captain, battles an alien invasion. The duo continuously travel 24 hours back in time until they can defeat the extraterrestrials. The Liman-directed 2014 feature was written by Christopher McQuarrie, who went on to direct Cruise in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise.
An “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel was formally announced in 2016 with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse cowriting. The project resurfaced in 2019 with “The Invention of Lying” co-writer Matthew Robinson handling the script, titled “Live Die Repeat and Repeat,” and Liman directing; however, it, too, was never made.
Liman assured fans that despite the stops and starts, “Edge of Tomorrow 2” will hopefully still happen.

Doug Liman assures that Warner Bros. is "constantly" asking him when Edge of Tomorrow 2 will get off the ground. The sequel has faced a bumpy development road thus far, including writer changes, financial concerns after the lukewarm box office reception to the first movie and Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt's busy schedules. With Cruise recently signing a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery deal to develop movies and franchises, though, Edge of Tomorrow 2 may be closer than ever to happening.
Following years of languishing in development hell, Doug Liman offers an encouraging update on Edge of Tomorrow 2. Louis Leterrier may be gearing up for Fast 11, but he still has other projects ready to go. The key one right now is sci-fi horror flick 11817, which is expected to begin filming this summer. As such, we have received some casting news, with Kingsley Ben-Adir and Greta Lee lined up for unspecified roles.
No other cast has been announced at this time for 11817 but kicking it off with the likes of Kingsley Ben-Adir and Greta Lee does add some serious talent to the project. Ben-Adir has really made his mark over the past few years, playing Malcolm X and Bob Marley to much praise. Lee, meanwhile, co-led Best Picture nominee Past Lives (and probably deserved an Oscar nod herself) and has Tron: Ares set up.

Louis Leterrier will be quite busy this year, saying that once he finishes up this “little horror movie” in mid-September, he will be jumping right into Fast 11 the next day,...

Two of-the-moment actors are leading a package headed to the Cannes market next week. Greta Lee, star of last year’s Oscar-nominated “Past Lives” and a SAG nominee for “The Morning Show,” and Kingsley Ben-Adir, whose starring vehicle “Bob Marley: One Love” exceeded box office expectations and who played Malcolm X in the three-time Oscar-nominated “One Night in Miami…,” are teaming with the reliable workhorse director Louis Leterrier in a new science fiction project called “11817.”
While the title could use an adjustment, Letterier – whose previous work includes “Transporter 2,” “Now You See Me,” and “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” – is co-producing the film with his new company, Carrousel Studios, with partners Thomas Benski, and French actor Omar Sy, who happens to be on this year’s Cannes jury.

Exclusive: Here’s some buzzy casting. Greta Lee (Past Lives) and Kingsley Ben-Adir (Bob Marley: One Love) are in negotiations to star in director and producer Louis Leterrier’s (Now You See Me) upcoming sci-fi horror film 11817.
Both actors are on a roll. The former is coming off a string of hits including Oscar nominee Past Lives, Apple TV drama The Morning Show and Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, while Ben-Adir’s last two movies couldn’t have gone much better in the shape of box office hits Bob Marley: One Love and Barbie.
In 11817, inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart who – or what – is keeping them trapped.
Additional casting is underway on the project, which is based on a script by Matthew Robinson.

Gore Verbinski would seem to have hit a snag in his big-budget blockbuster career after his Lone Ranger movie for Disney became a notoriously bloated flop. However, he was able to return with a smaller directorial effort after that, with the suspense film A Cure for Wellness. It has been eight years since the release of A Cure for Wellness, and Verbinski returns from his hiatus to helm an action-adventure film with the humorous title Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. The movie sports an impressive cast, including Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz and Juno Temple. The film has just started production on location in South Africa.

Fast X director Louis Leterrier finally shared a major update regarding the highly-anticipated eleventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. Back in April 2022, Leterrier became the new director of the 2023 movie, after Tokyo Drift and F9 director Justin Lin suddenly exited the project during production due to creative differences.
Speaking with Collider at the recent Ccxp Mx event, Leterrier confirmed that production on Fast & Furious 11 is currently slated to begin early next year. Because of this, the sequels scheduled theatrical release has officially been pushed back from April 4, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026. "It's happening. It's happening very, very soon. I'm able to shoot a little horror movie this summer. I'm finishing my horror movie on September 15th, and I start [pre-production on] Fast on September 16th," he said. "It's filming early next year, and it's coming out in 2026, which will be exactly to the day, 25 years since the first one came out.

Director Louis Leterrier moves into the horror genre with the upcoming film 11817, Deadline reports today.
Rocket Science is presenting the project to buyers in Cannes.
“The film watches as inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart who — or what — is keeping them trapped.”
Matthew Robinson (The Invention of Lying) wrote the screenplay.
“Directing projects where the audience gets behind the characters has always been my focus. However complex, flawed, heroic, we identify with them as we live through their journey,” said Leterrier. “It’s what excites me about 11817‘s wholly original concept and the family at the heart of our story. This is an experience that movie audiences won’t forget.”

A remake of Little Shop Of Horrors is in the works with director Joe Dante and original creator Roger Corman.

It now appears those plans have been abandoned in favour of a different creative team. Described as a “reimagining intended to jumpstart a new franchise”, Little Shop Of Halloween Horrors will be directed by Joe Dante, according to Deadline.
Charles S Haas, who previously collaborated with Dante on Gremlins 2: The New Batch, will write the screenplay. Roger Corman will co-produce with Brad Krevoy.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins signed on to helm Rogue Squadron more than three years ago, but the project hasn’t made much progress since then, with multiple delays amid reports that Jenkins was butting heads creatively with Lucasfilm. The film was finally removed from the schedule in 2022, but Jenkins has now said she’s signed a new deal to return.
While speaking with Ben Mankiewicz on the Talking Pictures podcast, Jenkins explained that she left Rogue Squadron to develop Wonder Woman 3, but when that project fell apart, she returned to Star Wars.
“When I left Star Wars to do Wonder Woman 3, I thought maybe I’ll come back to Star Wars after Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins said. “So we did a deal for that to happen, started a deal, but I thought I was doing Wonder Woman 3. So when Wonder Woman 3 went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, ‘oh, we gotta finish this deal.

As creatives frequently work on various projects, it's not unusual for them to branch into different fields and still come by success. Popular stand-up comedians often find themselves involved in television shows, podcasts, and particularly movies. With their unusual talent for witticism, they generally end up as the source of comic relief in films. However, some popular stand-up comedians have a knack for acting that exceeds their usual satire.
Often featuring in acclaimed filmmaker's work, well-received comics have a way of taking over the show with their amusing humor. Some comedians have even found success in creating and directing their own hit stories. “I give up, I give up,” she told Variety ahead of this year’s awards ceremony. “I say that even with all of their push to have diversity. The numbers are just hugely imbalanced of who votes for these things. I sort of just stopped paying attention to it.”
Jenkins continued, “It’s still going to take a long ways to go. It’s going to take a lot more to really see truly more diverse awards. I really appreciate the efforts that they’re making but we have a long way to go.”

Tom Cruise isn't just one of the reigning kings of the box office. In recent years, the actor has also proven himself king of the box office revival, pumping fresh blood into his own decades-old franchises with sequels that have garnered praise and raked in returns across the globe. In 2018, the sixth "Mission: Impossible" film became the series' most lucrative, bringing in nearly 800 million worldwide (per Box Office Mojo). In 2022, Cruise one-upped himself with "Top Gun: Maverick," a sequel to a thirty-four-year-old action film that earned an astounding 1.48 billion at the global box office.
The 60-year-old action star has clearly got the juice, and the only question now is where he'll apply his cinema-saving stardom next. He's already set to return to the role of Ethan Hunt again in this year's "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1," a spectacle-filled follow-up that's set to include car chases, a fight atop a speeding train,...

The Star Wars show Andor is coming to an end, leaving many to wonder what the future of the franchise looks like, especially for movies on the big screen after a hiatus following the end of the sequel trilogy. The last Star Wars movie released theatrically was the ninth episode of the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in 2019. Since then, it has been no secret that Lucasfilm's primary focus with Star Wars has been on its TV universe following the emergence of Disney+ original shows.
With the latest of those projects, Andor, ending its first season after 12 episodes, all eyes turn to the future of the Star Wars franchise. While plenty is coming in the way of future Star Wars TV shows, the franchise's cinematic future is less defined. As of the end of 2022, there are 10 confirmed Star Wars movies expected to release in the next decade or so.

For a long time, Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" seemed doomed to become one of his many, many unrealized projects. Announced in 2008, this new take on Carlo Collodi's novel "The Adventures of Pinocchio" was penned by del Toro and his frequent co-writer Matthew Robinson, with del Toro also splitting helming duties with "Fantastic Mr. Fox" animation director Mark Gustafson. But just as exciting as the film's top-tier creatives is its story, which shifts the classic tale of the titular wooden puppet and his quest to become human to Fascist Italy under Benito Mussolini's reign of terror.
A dark fairy tale about children going on fantastical adventures in times of war and violent social upheaval is familiar territory for del Toro. His 2001 horror film, "The Devil's Backbone" centers on an orphan boy who sets out to unravel the mystery behind a ghost that haunts the isolated orphanage where he resides,...

Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron movie was originally scheduled for a December 22, 2023 release, but as the movie hasn’t even begun shooting yet, it should come as no surprise that Disney has now removed Rogue Squadron from its schedule.
It was first announced that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins would helm Rogue Squadron in December 2020 and everyone involved seemed pretty pumped about the project. Love and Monsters co-writer Matthew Robinson signed on to pen the script, which was going to introduce audiences to “a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy.” Jenkins had said that she was using her fighter pilot father as an inspiration and wanted to make the “greatest fighter pilot movie ever made.” Rogue Squadron was delayed late last year, reportedly due to those dreaded creative differences,...
