Only one month remains until Upload launches its four-part series finale, but Zainab Johnson isn't going down without a fight. Series creator Greg Daniels and cast members Robbie Amell, Andy Allo, Kevin Bigley, and Allegra Edwards appeared at San Diego Comic-Con today for a panel sending off the show, and digging into the behind-the-scenes goings-on that have made the sci-fi comedy such a smash hit. During their conversation, they shared the first footage from Season 4, which has Johnson practicing her close-quarters combat skills ahead of a top-secret spy mission. As the office spy, Zainab Johnson's Aleesha, she's not particularly deadly, at least until she gets some powerful new shades that give her the ultimate edge.
In the fun sneak peek, Aleesha is in the dojo of Mr. Chu, who reminds her that "a single second could be the difference between life or death." She's tasked with infiltrating the offices of the techno-dystopian company Horizon,...

Upload is a sci-fi comedy series from Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels, set in a technologically advanced future where holographic phones, self-driving vehicles, AI assistance, and 3D food printers are the norm. And, forget about dying – instead, you’ll be “uploaded” to a virtual reality afterlife, and enjoy all the comforts of a world-class resort. Provided you can afford it.
In the four-part series finale event, sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!). On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and Irl, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time. The Sls Hotel in Beverly Hills was filled with pride and tears of joy on Monday night as the American Black Film Festival recognized five actors for their contributions to cinema at the 2025 ABFF Honors.
Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie commenced the awards presentation portion of the ceremony — hosted by comedian Zainab Johnson — by recalling words of wisdom his Marvel film co-star Giancarlo Esposito — known for early roles in Spike Lee’s School Daze and Do the Right Thing and most recently Breaking Bad, Kaleidoscope and The Gentlemen — imparted to him when he was an aspiring actor.

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor enjoyed a surprise early birthday celebration at the 2025 American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors ceremony on Monday night — complete with a cake, sparkling candles and the well-heeled crowd singing her “Happy Birthday”.
Ellis-Taylor was among the special honorees at the awards show, feted not just for turning another year older, but for delivering another year full of dazzling performances, including in the best picture Oscar-nominated film “Nickel Boys.” Though the spotlight was on Elllis-Taylor, she seemed less interested in accepting her well-deserved flowers than in doling them out to her fellow honorees.

Prime Video is headed back to Lakeview one more time. The Amazon streamer has picked up a fourth season of Upload, which will be the final chapter for the high-concept comedy series created and executive produced by Greg Daniels. The renewal of the Amazon MGM Studios-produced show, starring Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, comes three months after the Season 3 finale was released Nov. 10.

Zainab Johnson never intended to be a comedian. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Harlem with her 12 siblings, she was neither the family jokester nor the class clown.

Zainab Johnson needs to be our new Queen of Comedy. She’s just so good. And gutsy. As Aleesha, one of the AI-afterlife managers on Prime Video‘s Upload, the former semi-finalist from Last Comic Standing has had three fire seasons of cracking us up in an ensemble element. For Dave Rogers’ turn in the season three Upload directors chair, it was all about perspective.

The possibility of Aleesha and Luke getting together becomes more difficult in season 3 after Aleesha meets someone else in episode 4. The introduction of new character Karina puts Aleesha and Luke's potential future at risk as she develops a relationship with Aleesha. While Aleesha and Luke have undeniable chemistry, the series would risk losing an interesting friendship and duplicating the struggles of the main couple if they were to get together.
Although Nathan and Nora are Upload’s main couple, there’s another ship that could evolve into something else, but season 3 just made that possibility more difficult to happen. After the huge cliffhanger left in the finale of Upload season 2, the Amazon Prime Video hit comedy is back with its third season. With Nathan (Robbie Amell) now downloaded, he and Nora (Andy Allo) continue their mission to uncover what Freeyond and its creators are planning, while in Lakeview, a backup copy of Nathan was uploaded.

Upload season 3 maintains its lighthearted tone while delving deeper into themes of power, corporate greed, corruption, and violence. The season focuses on the control of big tech and the impact on underserved communities, exploring AI and what it means to be human.
