Dwayne Johnson Reacts to Not Having a Private and Normal Life Due To WWE and Movie Fame
Image
Dwayne Johnson is not a star that anyone would miss walking down the street, and that is not just because of his wide-as-a-house, tall-as-a-mountain frame. The man, the myth, the legend that is “The Rock” has not only been a fixture of the wrestling ring for decades, but has also been a huge presence on cinema screens for over 25 years. But when asked if he gets tired of the fame…it seems The Rock is still very invested in letting everyone smell what is simmering in his pot.

Johnson is as busy as he has ever been, with a mix of movies and WWE appearances planned for this year, the larger-than-life star is not about to take a back seat. This means that there is little chance of him ever being able to lead a quiet life away from the public eye, but according to the man himself, that is perfectly fine.

'So Many Times I Laughed': Dwayne Johnson Explains How Chris Evans Made Filming Red One Difficult
Image
Red One brings out several big names to spread some Christmas cheer to audiences during the holiday season with a relatively unique premise. Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Evans is one of those names, with co-star Dwayne Johnson praising the sense of humor he brought to the film.

Speaking with People during Red One's recent world premiere in Berlin, Johnson hailed Evans for his comedy chops in the action-packed film, suggesting they played off each other well while on set. According to the wrestler-turned-actor, Evans made it difficult for him to keep a straight face throughout production. "'Cause I'm a pro," he said initially before admitting, "No, so many times I laughed. I am notorious for ruining takes. I laugh; it's just what happens." Johnson added, "I thought earlier that maybe me and Chris might have some good chemistry. So did he. [And] we did."

Dwayne Johnson's Red One Gets Good and Bad News Amid Box Office Struggles
Image
Red One has two more achievements to stuff in its stockings this holiday season. However, the Dwayne Johnson-led Christmas blockbuster looks even more unlikely to make back its hefty budget.

Via Collider, Red One made $12.8 million in North American cinemas during Thanksgiving weekend, bringing its domestic total to $76 million. Combine that tally with the $72 million Red One has earned in overseas territories, and the action comedy now stands at $148 million globally, bringing it closer to the $150 million mark. Along with that feat, Red One is now one of the top 25 highest-grossing movies of 2024, nipping The Beekeeper, the film led by Johnson's Hobbs & Shaw co-star Jason Statham, to make the list. These achievements add to a recent career box-office mark Johnson reached thanks to the film.

The Real Myth Behind 'Red One's Grýla, Explained
Image
Red One made its debut quite early this Christmas season, premiering in theaters worldwide on November 15, 2024. However, the early release is justified, given that the film was initially set to release in December 2023 and was delayed due to the Saf-aftra strikes. The film joins a genre which has been gaining increasing popularity in recent times; the Christmas action film genre.

The film puts its own creative spin on the genre, with the narrative of Red One following a rescue mission after Father Christmas is kidnapped by a fearsome winter witch who is also able to shape-shift. Giving the Christmas film an almost CIA-like quality, Red One has organizations with the most interesting acronyms, code words, high-tech equipment and talented hackers. Supported by a star-studded cast, including Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, Lucy Liu and J. K. Simmon, Red One offers all that you can expect from a Christmas action film.

'Red One' Star J.K. Simmons Made Children Cry When Playing a Mall Santa Before Dwayne Johnson Action Movie
Image
Before he played a beefed-up Santa in the new Christmas movie Red One, J.K. Simmons has revealed that he played jolly old Saint Nick many years ago in a shopping mall. The beloved actor has played many memorable roles, most notably that of Spider-Mans J. Jonah Jameson in several Marvel movies, but his latest appearance alongside Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans is not the first time he has experienced the role of Santa Claus.

While many fans will be aware that he previously voiced the one-night-a-year worker (nice job if you can get it) in the animated movie Klaus, the actor revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly that he has a much older affinity with Father Christmas from his day as a mall Santa, although he was possibly not the best fit for the wholesome role. He explained:

Red One Dashes to Major Box Office Milestone, But Faces Tough Sledding to Make a Profit
Image
Red One decks the box-office halls by achieving its first major milestone since its release earlier this month. However, the Dwayne Johnson-led Christmas movie may not receive many more gifts during its theatrical run as it faces stiff competition from new and upcoming blockbusters.

Via Collider, Red One is expected to cross the $100 million mark at the global box office on Nov. 22, with $55 million coming from overseas territories. The news is encouraging considering Red One endured tough sledding with an underwhelming opening weekend in North American cinemas, making $32.1 million over its first three days. The film's early tally also helped Johnson cross the $14 billion mark for his career as he searches for his first major commercial hit since Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019.

Dwayne Johnson Gifted New Box Office Milestone Thanks to Red One
Image
Even as Red One continues collecting more coal than acclaim following its release, the Christmas film bears gifts for its leading star. The newly-released action comedy secures Dwayne Johnson a new career box-office milestone.

Per Collider, Red One has made $83.2 million at the global box office since its premiere, with $32 million coming domestically and the remainder from overseas markets. With that tally, Johnson is closing in on a cumulative box office tally of $14 billion worldwide for his movies. While Red One Received Poor Critics' Reviews, Audiences Are Loving Dwayne Johnson & Chris Evans' New 2024 Holiday Movie On Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Red One has already earned some redemption from its dire initial reviews from critics. Starring Dwayne Johnson (Callum Drift) and Chris Evans (Jack O'Malley), the movie is an action flick that follows the kidnapping of Santa Claus (J. K. Simmons). It had an enormous $250 million budget and was released in theaters on November 15 for domestic audiences. Amazon MGM has not yet confirmed when Red One will head to streaming platforms.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the holiday movie has proven to be extremely divisive. It debuted with a Rotten 32% Tomatometer score from critics. Top critics were even more negative, assigning just a 25% score. The audience, however, has been kinder. It currently sits at an 88% Popcornmeter score, which is enough to earn a Hot designation. It has over 100 reviews from critics and over 500 verified ratings from general viewers at the time of writing.

Where To Watch Red One: Showtimes & Streaming Status
Image
Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans' Christmas action movie underwent a few changes regarding the options for where to watch Red One. The combination of the two major movie stars was enough to get Amazon MGM to back the original action title that reunited The Rock with his Jumanji franchise director, Jake Kasdan. With Dwayne Johnson's box office track record and Chris Evans' notoriety after playing Captain America, the movie became a promising opportunity for them to unite and deliver either a major box office or streaming hit - or possibly both - although that was before Red One's reviews.

Amazon MGM originally had planned for Red One to release in Christmas 2023, but the film ultimately was kept away from audiences until November 2024. The twist came with the studio deciding that the way audiences first get to see the movie will also be different once it arrives. This is because...

Red One Review: Dwayne Johnson's Joyless Dud Is An Epic Christmess That Takes Itself Way Too Seriously
Image
It might not be the holidays yet, but Amazon MGM want you to hang up your stockings early for Red One, the high-concept caper starring Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and Jk Simmons. Johnson plays the role he was born for: a hulking head of security to Simmons' Santa Claus, who is disillusioned with humanity's lack of goodness, and one day from retirement.

Like Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, which Johnson collaborated on with Red One director Jake Kasdan, the festive adventure aims for action comedy. When Santa is kidnapped, Johnson's inexplicably immortal Callum Drift teams up with Level 4 Naughty Lister Jack O'Malley (Evans), who is a master thief, hacker, and somehow has had the superpower of being able to find people or things since childhood. Don't worry, that's not really important enough to be explained beyond it helping the plot lurch forward.

One of Dwayne Johnson's Lowest-Rated Films Becomes a Netflix Success Story 7 Years Later

Baywatch is one of the most famous TV shows of all time and has since reached cult classic status. In 2017, the TV show was turned into a film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron, and it was one of Johnson's most disappointing projects.

However, Baywatch has just hit Netflix and found new success on the streaming service, climbing up to No. 8 on the global charts for the week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 3. The film was one of the three releases this week after the slasher Time Cut and Martha Stewart's documentary Martha, and hit the eighth spot with 4.1 million views, or 7.9 hours viewed. Although Johnson's 2017 comedy action film found new success on streaming, it was not popular with the critics.

Red One Review | A Surprisingly Clever Christmas Action-Comedy
Image
What if Santa Claus wasn't rotund and tinkering with toys in a quaint North Pole, but an absolutely jacked presidential figure running a glimmering, high-tech frozen metropolis? Red One offers a surprisingly clever take on Christmas mythology. The big-budget action-comedy delivers the requisite popcorn entertainment with visual splendor, but also succeeds in building its own new universe with truly memorable characters. Actors Dwayne Johnson and a hilarious Chris Evans play well off each other when the narrative runs sluggish during overextended scenes.

We're first introduced to a young Jack O'Malley (Wyatt Hunt) at his family's Christmas party. He's the product of a broken home, already has a sarcastic disposition, and doesn't believe in Santa Claus. He brands the other kids chumps for believing such a ridiculous fable. How can one guy travel around the world in one night and sneak into billions of homes undetected with a reindeer-powered sled? What...

Red One Director Says Dwayne Johnson Pic Is 'A Little More Kick-Ass' Than Most Christmas Films
Image
The upcoming Christmas action comedy, Red One, promises a rocky ride for Santa Claus and several shenanigans involving Dwayne Johnson's main character. According to director Jake Kasdan, the Amazon MGM Studios pic isn't your typical movie for the holiday season, insisting the pic is more "kick-ass" than most.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kasdan expressed his belief that Red One stands out more than other Christmas movies because he and his creative team made it an "epic" film and "a little more kick-ass" than previous entries. Kasdan, who shared his "love" for Christmas movies, thinks Red One contains many elements that make it edgy, yet wholesome.

‘Origin’ Review: Ava DuVernay and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor Turn Isabel Wilkerson’s ‘Caste’ Into a Tender Love Story
Image
Ava DuVernay’s return to feature filmmaking doubles as a thematic homecoming. Origin, loosely adapted from Isabel Wilkerson’s tome Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, is, at its core, a deeply sincere story of love and grief.

DuVernay’s interest in animating the inner lives of Black women stretches back to her feature debut, I Will Follow, in which she explored the contours of a young woman’s heartache after the death of her aunt. She built on it with Middle of Nowhere, a remarkable second feature about a nurse confronting her relationship with her incarcerated husband. And although Selma is about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the film complicates Coretta (Carmen Ejogo), positioning her as King’s strategic co-conspirator instead of just a dutiful wife. In all of these films, DuVernay centers the emotional landscape of Black women, reflecting on how interpersonal and structural constrictions shape their behaviors.

It was announced yesterday that HBO Max had cancelled Titans and Doom Patrol after four seasons, which prompted some fans to place the blame on James Gunn and Peter Safran. ‘Titans,’ ‘Doom Patrol’ Both Ending After Season 4 at HBO Max
Image
Even superheroes can’t defeat the looming threat of a series finale. “Titans” and “Doom Patrol,” two live-action series based on DC Comic book characters, will end after their respective ongoing fourth seasons, IndieWire has confirmed.

The two series have an interesting development history, beginning as original programs for DC Universe, a streaming platform focused on superhero content, launching their first seasons in 2018 (for “Titans”) and 2019 (for “Doom Patrol”). After HBO Max launched, DC Universe was rebooted as a free comics subscription service, and the shows moved to the new streamer. “Titans” premiered its fourth and now final season this November, while “Doom Patrol’s” launched in December; both seasons consists of 12 episodes split into two six-episode parts, with the final batches of episodes set to premiere at unannounced dates.

“While these will be the final seasons of ‘Titans’ and ‘Doom Patrol,’ we are very proud of these series and...

Diane Guerrero on Doom Patrol Season 4 Mid-Season Finale & Facing Mortality
Image
The lovable misfits of Doom Patrol are back with Season 4, featuring an all-new series of whacky and insane adventures. Comprising of Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), Rita Farr (April Bowlby), Vic Stone (Joivan Wade), Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer / Matthew Zuk), Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser / Riley Shanahan), and recent addition Madame Rouge (Michelle Gomez), the team has gone up against many surreal and world-ending enemies over their previous seasons. What makes this show so unique though, is the way in which it portrays the characters as deeply-flawed and traumatized people who help each other grow, evolve, and heal. It's easily one of the best superhero shows currently running and with Season 4, things have gotten better than ever.

‘Doom Patrol’: HBO Max Series Teases Time Travel And The Looming Threat Of ‘The Literal End Of Days’ In Season 4 Trailer
Image
Doomsday is drawing near in the latest installment of HBO Max‘s Doom Patrol.

The trailer for Season 4, which was released Tuesday, Mark Sheppard’s Willoughby Kipling warns: “Something very big and very dangerous is headed our way. Immortus is real, and it’s coming. We are wandering into the literal end of days as we speak.”

The Immortus Project appears to be a looming threat, explained only as the pursuit for immortality. It’s not clear what big bad the Doom Patrol will be facing, but it may have something to do with the DC supervillain General Immortus, who was introduced in the 1950s as an enemy of the Doom Patrol. In the trailer, the group eventually comes to the conclusion that the only way to win is to travel back in time.

Watch the entire trailer above. Season 4 will premiere on December 8 with two brand-new episodes. Each week...

Doom Patrol Season 4 Trailer Teases "Something Big" and "Dangerous"
Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Michelle Gomez, April Bowlby, Matthew Zuk, Diane Guerrero, Joivan Wade, and Riley Shanahan in Doom Patrol (2019)
Our favorite band of heroes should get well prepared.

HBO Max dropped the official trailer for Doom Patrol Season 4 Thursday -- and we have many questions.

Willoughby Kipling tells the gang atop the trailer that something "very big and very dangerous is on its way" that will bring the world to an end.

“Immortus is real, and it’s coming. We are wandering into the literal end of days as we speak.”

Immortus is well-known to fans of the comic books, and if you're not up to speed, you should be prepared for lots of high-octane drama.

The season's theme seems to be whether the Doom Patrol gang will want to save the world or think about their own happiness.

There is a sense of dread lingering over the trailer. As a result, it wouldn't surprise us if the series was preparing for its endgame.

Many changes are going on at Warner Bros. Discovery,...

‘Doom Patrol’ Season 4 Trailer Teases ‘Music Man’ Number and a Battle With Were-Butts
Image
Click here to read the full article.

HBO Max announced the season four premiere date of the superhero misfits series Doom Patrol along with a teaser trailer at New York Comic Con, where several cast members previewed what’s in store for their characters.

Fans can expect the DC series to return on Dec. 8, with the teaser trailer encouraging viewers to “hold on to their butts” with a very musical introduction to the mysterious (and vicious) creatures known as the were-butts. The creatures have been conceived by a shadowy agency “as a weaponized force of nature” that see the Doom Patrol forced to team up to take them down.

In the more than one-minute look at the new season, these teethy butt monsters are featured hilariously singing a Music Man classic as part of their debut to a few powerful officials. At other points, they are seen being tossed around by Doom Patrol members.

Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Michelle Gomez, April Bowlby, Matthew Zuk, Diane Guerrero, Joivan Wade, and Riley Shanahan in Doom Patrol (2019)
Doom Patrol Season 4 will finally get underway this December, but there's a catch.

The highly anticipated new season drops Thursday, December 8, with two new episodes.

New episodes will unspool Thursdays through January 5, but fear not, more episodes are on tap for later in 2023.

Yes, six more episodes are on the way.

Streaming services have started embracing split seasons and they will probably grow even more popular.

According to HBO Max’s official description, “Season 4 opens with the team unexpectedly traveling to the future to find an unwelcome surprise."

"Faced with their imminent demise, the Doom Patrol must decide once and for all which is more important: their own happiness or the fate of the world?”

Doom Patrol Season 4 stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele (aka Robotman), Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor (aka Negative Man), Diane Guerrero as “Crazy Jane,” April Bowlby as Rita Farr (aka Elasti-Woman), and Joivan Wade as...

HBO Max Renews Doom Patrol for Season 4!
Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Michelle Gomez, April Bowlby, Matthew Zuk, Diane Guerrero, Joivan Wade, and Riley Shanahan in Doom Patrol (2019)
Our favorite team of superhero rejects is going to be back for another mind-blowing season of adventures!

Just past the halfway point in a completely bonkers Season 3 that has involved time travel, were-butts (you heard me), Dead Boy Detectives, and a trip to the Afterlife, HBO Max has renewed Doom Patrol Season 3 for a fourth season.

From villains with no body (see what I did there?) to monsters that lurk in the minds of children to time-traveling amnesiacs, and, yes, including recurring appearances by zombie were-butts (!), how will Season 4 up the ante?

"Doom Patrol reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of superheroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser/Riley Shanahan), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer/Matthew Zuk), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) and Cyborg aka Victor Stone (Joivan Wade).
