If you're a fan of Mindy Kaling and are a Netflix subscriber, there's a bit of good and bad news for you going into the end of February 2025. No, her modern classic teen comedy Never Have I Ever isn't going anywhere (thankfully), but the star's eponymous sitcom The Mindy Project will be departing Netflix by the end of the month. Grab a bear claw and lie on the floor in distress!
As a comedy series that originally aired on Fox, then moved to Hulu as an original when the streamer saved it from cancellation, and was produced by NBCUniversal, it was surprising when the underrated workplace rom-com landed on Netflix back in January 2023. It was a pleasant surprise nonetheless as lots of new viewers had the chance to discover the series.

In several ways, Captain America: Brave New World serves as a sequel to 2008's The Incredible Hulk as well as a follow-up to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but one key element was missing: The Green Goliath himself.
Despite a story focusing on President Ross (Harrison Ford) and his eventual transformation into the Red Hulk, along with the reintroduction of Samuel Sterns, aka the Leader (Tim Blake Nelson), and an appearance from Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), Bruce Banner and his rage-fuelled alter-ego only get a couple of mentions.
While speaking to The Playlist, director Julius Onah confirmed that there were early discussions about bringing Mark Ruffalo's Smart Hulk in, but it was ultimately decided that this could detract from Sam Wilson's story.
“Well, I think at the end of the day, and I’m happy it landed where it did—this is Sam’s story. This is...

Captain America: Brave New World is performing slightly (and only slightly) better than expected at the worldwide box office, nearing $300 million following its second weekend in theaters.
The Marvel Studios movie dropped -60% internationally - -55% if you exclude China - by adding $35.3 million from 52 markets. That takes its overseas cume to $148.2 million which, combined with $141.2 million from North America, brings its global total to $289.4 million.
Profitability isn't exactly in sight but, assuming those reports about the budget ballooning to upwards of $300 million have been blown out of proportion, the movie could break even. Barely.
Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima has also weighed in with his thoughts and, as is often the case when he talks Marvel or DC, the X post has quickly gone viral.

As many expected, Captain America: Brave New World is starting to lose momentum at the box office as it heads into its second week in theaters.
The latest Marvel Studios movie opened strong over the extended Presidents Day holiday, but dropped by 68% in its second weekend with $28.3 million from 4,105 North American theaters. This is not quite a bad as analysts predicted, and certainly not the worst drop we've seen from recent MCU fare.
Brave New World did manage to hold on to the No. 1 spot and has very little in the way of competition until Disney's Snow White arrives next month. The movie has taken in $289.4M worldwide so far on a reported production budget of $180M, but this is before marketing costs, and some believe the actual budget would be closer to $300M after extensive reshoots.
Even if this is not accurate, the movie may still struggle to make...

Captain America: Brave New World had the odds stacked against it this weekend. The movie's reviews have not been great and a B- CinemaScore (the lowest for any MCU movie) suggested it wouldn't have positive word of mouth on its side.
However, Deadline brings some good news today as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up is now on course for a $28.1 million second weekend. That's a drop of -68% from its Presidents' Day weekend debut and a big improvement over Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (-70%) and The Marvels (-78%).
While we're waiting on updated international numbers, Captain America: Brave New World appears to be losing steam both overseas and domestically.
As of now, it's sitting at around $218 million worldwide; that means it's already topped Marvel Studios' biggest flop, The Marvels. Can it reach that $300 million - $400 million range over the coming weeks? It won't be easy, and whatever happens,...

Captain America: Brave New World is entering its second weekend in theaters but Neon's The Monkey is proving to be stronger competition for the latest Marvel Studios blockbuster than expected.
The horror movie starring She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany is set to nab the indie distributor's second-highest opening ever with an estimated $12 million - $14 million haul following a $5 million Friday. That means it will debut at #2 with Captain America: Brave New World remaining at #1.
As things stand, the blockbuster grossed $7.5 million on Friday for a weekend likely to be somewhere between $25 million - $30 million. That's a little lower than estimates from earlier this week but those are always a little off one way or the other.
Should Captain America: Brave New World end the weekend with around $29 million, that will be a -67% decline for a running 10-day total of $142 million in North America. We're still waiting on updated international numbers.

Deadpool and Wolverine proved to be a much-needed box office jolt for Marvel Studios, and also went over pretty well with fans and critics. Unfortunately, Captain America: Brave New World wasn't quite able to keep the franchise on an even keel.
Though the movie did have a better-than-expected opening weekend (it's already passed the $200 million mark worldwide), the critical reception was mixed-negative, and the fourth Captain America movie is currently sitting - and unlikely to budge - at 49% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Brave New World does have its defenders, but it's probably fair to say that the movie hasn't resonated with the Marvel faithful in a way those involved with bringing the film to the screen will have been hoping for.
Director Julius Onah was asked about the movie's critical response during an interview with Esquire.
"All I'll say is that we were working very hard and are very passionate about the movie we made.

Spoiler Warning: This story discusses multiple plot developments in “Captain America: Brave New World,” currently playing in theaters.
When director Julius Onah called Variety on Feb. 13, he was in New York, in transit between promotional events for his Marvel Studios film “Captain America: Brave New World.” The day before, he had a packed day of press opportunities in Washington, D.C. — the main setting for film’s confrontation between the new Cap, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and the new American president, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford). The day before that, Onah was at the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles, where life-size statues of Wilson and Ross’ crimson alter ego, Red Hulk, glowered at each other in front of the Tcl Chinese Theater.
It had been, in other words, a whirlwind few days for the 42-year-old filmmaker, following a marathon three years working on the film. That included extensive...

Captain America: Brave New World ends with President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross transforming into the out-of-control Red Hulk. Unlike Smart Hulk, She-Hulk, and Abomination, the villain never speaks and, as a result, is more akin to a "classic" angry Hulk.
Collider recently caught up with filmmaker Julius Onah and asked why Red Hulk doesn't talk in the Marvel Studios blockbuster.
"Whether or not Red Hulk should talk, that was something that came up quite a bit," he acknowledged. "My feeling was that he shouldn't, which is what is the case in the movie." According to the Captain America: Brave New World director, it came down to "the transformation that Ross is dealing with and the struggle that Ross is dealing with emotionally."
Onah added, "The moment you gave him language as a Hulk, then people can talk to each other, and you're moving away from pure id to a more rational being.

In Captain America: Brave New World's sole post-credits scene, Sam Wilson visits The Leader in The Raft and receives a vague warning about a Multiversal threat and the "others" coming to Earth-616.
Even mainstream media outlets have deemed it Marvel Studios' worst post-credits scene. Meanwhile, the response from fans has been mixed to negative at best (a shame seeing as an Avengers: Doomsday tease should have blown everyone's minds).
Talking to Collider, Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah explained that it was always the plan to forego a mid-credits scene in preference of a single Cap-centric final tease.
"It was always the case that what felt organic for this movie was just leaning into a post-credits sequence that could tease what's coming next," the filmmaker said. "We wanted to tease it in a way that didn't become too explicit. This is about introducing Sam as our new Captain America.

Liv Tyler returned as Betty Ross for Captain America: Brave New World, but it sounds like her involvement with the project was far from guaranteed.
Tyler only made a single appearance as the daughter of General "Thunderbolt" Ross in The Incredible Hulk, as most of the 2008 film's supporting characters fell by the wayside after Mark Ruffalo took over from Edward Norton as Bruce Banner.
However, after the late William Hurt's return as the general in Civil War was followed by Tim Roth (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) and Tim Blake Nelson (who also features in Brave New Word), speculation started to mount that it may only be a matter of time before Tyler followed suit.
Spoilers follow.
Previous rumors claimed that Betty would only show up for the movie's mid-credits scene, but she actually appeared right at the end of the film as she pays a visit to her estranged...

Last week, we asked you to let us know what you thought of Captain America: Brave New World via our poll and spoiler discussion article, and the results are in.
As it turns out, the Cbm consensus is pretty much in line with how the majority of critics felt about Marvel Studios' latest, while leaning slightly more positive.
3391 of you voted, and 41% of you felt that the movie was "good" (3/5). Somewhat surprisingly, 20% of you went with "very good" (4/5), while 19% of you voted "disappointing" (2/5). 12% of you thought Brave New World was outright "awful" (1/5), and 8% went with "excellent" (5/5).
Anticipation for this one always seemed somewhat muted after the first trailer and negative test-screening reports that supposedly (and we can now say evidently) led to extensive reshoots.
Last week, Vulture published an article with quotes from a crew member who worked on the film, and they claim that pretty much everyone involved with...

Ne Zha 2, a new Chinese blockbuster, recently became the world's highest-grossing animated movie and, as we write this, it's still breaking records. While it's found some success overseas, almost all of its $1.7 billion haul has come from the Middle Kingdom.
Captain America: Brave New World fell to Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in the UK and, unsurprisingly, proved no match for Ne Zha 2 in China. That combination has put a big dent in its international cume. However, in China, not seeing the latest Marvel Studios movie has reportedly become a point of national pride.
According to the BBC, nationalist fans of Ne Zha 2 are strongly discouraging others from watching Captain America: Brave New World. One popular slogan being used on social media states, "I don't care if Ne Zha 2 can survive overseas, but Captain America 4 must die in China."

Captain America: Brave New World has officially crossed $200 million at the worldwide box office with a $204.6 million global haul. That's made up of $106.34 million (Friday - Tuesday) from North America and $98.27 million (Wednesday to Monday) from overseas.
We should have updated numbers by the weekend as there's been a slight delay in reporting caused by the long Presidents' Day weekend. International numbers also aren't shared quite as regularly as those in the U.S.
At this rate, Captain America: Brave New World should reach $300 million within the next week or so. There's relatively little in the way of competition as we head into March, so Marvel Studios may have at least a moderate hit on its hands here.

Captain America: Brave New World will remain at #1 during its second weekend in theaters but, as feared, it's facing a pretty big drop. While that's not good news for the MCU movie, this is by no means a disaster.
As first reported by Deadline, current projections point to Captain America: Brave New World earning roughly $30+ million this weekend. Its biggest competition will be The Monkey, a new horror movie from Longlegs director Oz Perkins. That's eyeing a $17 million debut.
Back to Captain America: Brave New World, and even though $30 million is a 70% decline from its four-day Presidents' Day weekend opening, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up's three-day haul was $88 million. As a result, it's facing a weekend-to-weekend drop of around 65% which is better than both Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (-70%) and The Marvels (-78%).

Marvel Studios has released some new poster art for Captain America: Brave New World, and Rotten Tomatoes has announced that The McU's latest Multiverse Saga instalment is the review aggregator's post popular movie of the week.
This basically means that users have been checking Brave New World's score more than any other film since the review embargo lifted last week, which is understandable after Sam Wilson's big-screen debut as the Sentinel of Liberty became just the third Marvel Studios movie to fail to reach "Fresh" status on the site after Eternals (47%) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (46%).
We thought Brave New World's score might fluctuate a little as more reviews were added, and it has now dropped to 49% based on 275 verdicts.
The critics consensus reads: Anthony Mackie capably takes up Cap's mantle and shield, but Brave New World is too routine and overstuffed with uninteresting easter eggs...

The final numbers are in for Captain America: Brave New World's opening weekend over the four-day Presidents' Day holiday and, as expected, the latest Marvel Studios movie debuted with a mighty $100 million in North America.
While current estimates point to a four-day $192.4 million global bow, its three-day total was $180.9 million. That's right where the majority of analysts predicted it would land, meaning the movie neither exceeded nor fell below expectations.
Captain America: Brave New World has been named the #1 movie in the world (the MPA views it as such because it had a wide release) but didn't actually make the most money. In China, Ne Zha 2 earned a massive $279.6 million to bring its worldwide total to over $1.6 billion. So, technically, it opened at #2.

Mindy Kaling’s new comedy show, “Not Suitable for Work,” has officially been greenlit at Hulu.
The half-hour, single-camera comedy series, which was previously titled “Murray Hill,” has received a series order at the streamer, Hulu announced Tuesday. The order came about 10 months after the show landed at Hulu following a competitive bidding process.
“Not Suitable for Work” follows five work-obsessed 20somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill, according to the official logline.
Kaling created the series, and Charlie Grandy is set to serve as showrunner. Kaling and Grandy will executive produce alongside Howard Klein, who executive produces for 3 Arts Entertainment.
“Not Suitable for Work” is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where both Kaling and Grandy are under overall deals.

Back when Captain America: Brave New World (then known as New World Order) was filming, the very first set photos that found their way online featured members of the Serpent Society, with WWE Superstar Seth Rollins and Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar spotted shooting scenes in-costume as their respective characters.
As we know, some significant changes were made during reshoots, and this supervillain team was reimagined as a terrorist organization known as Serpent. Giancarlo Esposito was brought in as Sidewinder, and we also saw Sam Wilson throw down with Copperhead (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson).

Captain America: Brave New World has exceeded box office expectations domestically, but Marvel Studios' latest was outpaced by a returning rom-com favorite in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Universal’s Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy took in £12.3 million ($15.5 million) in its opening four-day weekend to land the biggest debut of the year, and also made history as the highest-grossing romantic comedy debut ever in the region. Brave New World opened in second place with $8 million.
Anthony Mackie's big-screen debut as Captain America has already made its reported $180M production budget back, but we have heard that the movie's price tag is actually closer to $300M when marketing and reshoot costs are factored in. Even if this is inaccurate, Deadline believes the movie will still need to take in $425M to break even.
This shouldn't be a problem, but how much higher can it climb?
We have seen dramatic...

So, let’s find out which of the movies that are coming in 2025 are the most anticipated.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters, and while fans seem to be divided on the overall quality of Marvel Studios' latest, one aspect of the movie that's come in for almost universal backlash is the post-credits scene.
Spoilers follow.
In the stinger, we see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) drop by the Raft - a floating prison where the world's super-powered villains are sent - to see Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson). After some back-and-forth about how they don't share the same sense of humor, The Leader makes some vague hints about mysterious "others" that Sam and his New Avengers are going to have to prepare for, seemingly setting up the McU's next big event film, Avengers: Doomsday.
Uneventful? Definitely. Perfunctory? Sure - but was it really all that bad?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to go all out in defence of the scene,...

As we first told you yesterday, Captain America: Brave New World opened to an estimated $100 million over the four-day Presidents' Day weekend. With $92.4 million overseas, the movie's global debut sits at a solid $192.4 million.
However, as we've already mentioned a couple of times, the blockbuster's second weekend will be key. Reviews have been mixed (Captain America: Brave New World sits at 50% on Rotten Tomatoes) and, on Saturday morning, we learned that it's received the McU's lowest CinemaScore to date with a B-.
Variety has run a piece on what this weekend could hold in store for Marvel Studios' latest movie. In that, it's said "sources close to the superhero adaptation believe that CinemaScore isn’t the best measure of moviegoer reception. They feel that way because those grades are bestowed after polling patrons in just a few theaters."

The latest box office updates for Captain America: Brave New World are in, and while Disney's official numbers are down slightly ($87.8M 3-day; 4-day estimate remains at $100M for now) from initial predictions, Marvel Studios' next Multiverse Saga movie has already managed to pass the $200 million mark worldwide.
This is obviously a strong start - especially when you factor in mostly negative reviews (the movie has dropped to 50% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a franchise-low B- CinemaScore - but can Brave New World hold strong over the next week and beyond?
Opening weekends are rarely an issue for any MCU film, but, as we saw with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, significant second-week drop-offs are becoming more common.
For what it's worth, analysts believe that Anthony Mackie's big-screen debut as Cap will likely avoid the same fate.

Despite middling reviews from critics (51% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a B- CinemaScore from moviegoers, Captain America: Brave New World is exceeding expectations at the box office.
According to Deadline, the movie performed better than expected on Saturday with $27.5 million. Both Disney and rival studios predict a four-day opening weekend of $100 million and a global debut of $192.4 million (a couple of million above early estimates).
Disney dropped the ball with Captain America: Brave New World's release in the UK where the movie has been soundly beaten by Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The latest Marvel Studios title dropped on Wednesday in several countries but the UK wasn't one of them, robbing it of the chance to get the jump on the final instalment of that classic romcom franchise.
That's still an impressive global bow, of course, and back in North America, Captain America: Brave New World is eyeing a $88.5 million three-day haul.

Original plans called for Captain America: Brave New World to be released on May 3, 2024. 2023's Hollywood strikes stuck a spoke in that particular wheel - as did what appears to have been pretty extensive reshoots - and the movie opened this weekend instead.
However, the release date delay caused some issues, including Happy Meal toys which arrived in the fast food chain last April. Not only did those offer a first look at Red Hulk, but a pink-haired character who was soon identified as Diamondback.
Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar was cast as the Serpent Society member and fans on social media are currently expressing confusion about her absence from Captain America: Brave New World.
Similar to The Leader's giant head, it appears this character was from a previous iteration of the movie. Many of you will be aware that the Serpent Society was left on the cutting room floor,...

We'll have updated numbers a little later today, but the latest box office projections from Deadline reveal that Captain America: Brave New World earned $27 million on Saturday.
The trade remains confident that the MCU movie will end up in the mid-to-high $90 million range but suggests it could head north of $100 million if it can top Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania's $20.5 million Sunday in 2023. On Monday, the latest Captain America movie needs to gross over $11.5 million to reach a $100 million Presidents' Day opening weekend.
For now, its estimated three-day haul is $87 million. This is a solid start for Captain America: Brave New World, albeit one that matters less than its upcoming second weekend in theaters. That will make or break the movie and likely decide whether it's going to be a hit.
According to this latest report, Captain America: Brave New World needs to earn around $425 million at the worldwide box...

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters in the US and most other regions worldwide, and reviews have been coming in since the embargo lifted on Wednesday evening - most of them negative.
Based on 245 reviews, Anthony Mackie's big-screen debut as the Sentinel of Liberty is currently sitting at 51% on Rotten Tomatoes.
While this score may fluctuate slightly over the next few days, it's unlikely to climb much higher, and it looks like Brave New World is set to become just the third Marvel Studios movie to be hit with the dreaded "Rotten" splat on the aggregator after Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Reviews aside, box office projections are decent enough, and the movie is expected to take in close to $100 million domestically (it could reach $200M worldwide). It's also worth noting that the Rt Audience Score is a significantly higher 79%.

Critics may not have been too keen on Captain America: Brave New World, but audiences seem to be willing to give Marvel Studios' latest Multiverse Saga movie a chance... for now.
The latest box office updates are in, and the Julius Onah-directed thriller took in $40 million on Friday to give it the second-biggest debut of the four Captain America movies behind Civil War. The film is still on track for a four-day opening north of $90 million through the extended Presidents Day holiday.
A decent start, but can Brave New World continue to pack those theaters? Remember, Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania also opened strong before an unprecedented second-week drop-off, and that 50% on Rotten Tomatoes coupled with a B- CinemaScore - the lowest ever for an MCU movie - are sure to turn off at least a portion of prospective ticket buyers.

Captain America: Brave New World is light on cameos but there is a deep-cut nod to the comic books that brings one of the lamest, weirdest Avengers into the MCU.
In the movie, Sam Wilson turns to Commander Dennis Dunphy, an old friend and member of the United States Armed Forces, for help figuring out what's in the pills Samuel Sterns has been giving President Ross.
It's widely believed that Amadeus Cho was once going to provide those answers, but Dunphy turns to an unnamed associate for the answers Sam needs. However, before he can warn Cap, The Leader murders him.
Does that name, Dennis Dunphy, ring any bells? It should! In the comics, Dunphy is better known as Demolition Man or D-Man, a character who first suited up in 1987's Captain America #328 after being created by Mike Carlin and Ron Wilson a couple of years earlier.

Captain America: Brave New World is now in theaters, and even though the latest MCU movie looks set for a fairly strong opening weekend at the box office, the critical reception has been mostly negative (its Rotten Tomatoes score has now dropped to 50%).
One aspect of the film that has come in for the most criticism in the negative reviews is the "choppy" editing in certain sequences, as well as a sense that the plot lacks cohesiveness and a strong narrative drive. This is certainly debatable, but there have been reports of extensive reshoots and major changes being made to the story very late in the game.
While speaking with Phase Zero, director Julius Onah downplayed these reports.
"We did one period of additional photography," he told the podcast. "Which is the same on all of these movies. There are so many variables, and [additional photography] becomes essential to fine-tuning and coming...

Ahead of Captain America: Brave New World's release, much was said about Red Hulk's supposed screentime in the movie. We were repeatedly told that he wouldn't appear for more than 5 minutes, though some attention-seeking social media personalities are currently telling people it's more like 2 minutes.
Harrison Ford's President Thaddeus "Thunderbolts" Ross has a huge role in the story but it's true that Red Hulk's scenes are confined to the final act.
However, from the moment Ross transforms to his eventual defeat, Red Hulk has just over 9 minutes of screentime.
Almost the entirety of that is a battle with Sam Wilson/Captain America, meaning Captain America: Brave New World delivers a near-10 minute fight scene which, love or hate the movie, is an undeniable highlight full of memorable moments.
We've heard that an earlier version of Cap's fight with Red Hulk featured Sabra and Isaiah Bradley, though that seemingly changed relatively early on.

Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters this week. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie formally introduces Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as the new Captain America, taking over from the retired Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Wilson first picked up the shield in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but this is his first outing as Captain America on the big screen.
The film is directed by Julius Onah and written by the teams of Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, and Onah and Peter Glanz. The cast includes Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (taking over the role from the late William Hurt), who makes a much-anticipated transformation into Red Hulk in the film — a decision that didn’t sit well with MCU filmmaker Joe Russo.

Captain America: Brave New World revisits the events of The Incredible Hulk and, over a decade and a half after that movie was released, we finally catch up with Tim Blake Nelson's Samuel Sterns, a.k.a. The Leader.
Last month, promo art for the movie revealed a full look at his costume and character design. Wearing a trenchcoat and rocking a massive comic-accurate head - with hair and a goatee - the villain looks like the evil mastermind most fans expected and hoped to see.
However, if you've watched Captain America: Brave New World, then you'll know that the artwork is nothing like what ended up in the final cut.
In that, The Leader is horribly deformed after years of Gamma exposure; his head has taken on a brain-like shape and he looks almost zombified. Honestly, it's hard to describe but a closer look has leaked online which you can see here.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters and one of the most interesting things about the movie is that it serves as a follow-up to both Eternals and The Incredible Hulk.
We'll start with the latter; during the movie's opening, it's revealed that President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross used Samuel Sterns as a scapegoat for Abomination's attack on Harlem. He's spent the past 17 years behind bars, being used by Ross to create both the pills that have saved the General's life and to create various weapons for the military.
Sterns' heightened intelligence - which has been increased with continued Gamma exposure - also plays a significant role in Ross getting into the White House, though he goes back on his deal to free the scientist when he's made Commander in Chief.
It's later revealed that Betty Ross has never forgiven her father for sending the military after Bruce Banner,...

In Avengers: Endgame's final moments, we learned that Steve Rogers had remained in the past for his happy ending with Peggy Carter. It was a touching way to end his story arc, but what became of "Old Man Rogers" after he handed the mantle to Sam Wilson?
Marvel Studios has never provided a definitive answer to that question. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stopped short of revealing Steve's fate, though Spider-Man: No Way Home transforming the Statue of Liberty into a tribute felt like a strong hint that he must have died.
Unfortunately, Captain America: Brave New World offers no additional insights or clarifications. Steve is referenced on a handful of occasions, typically in the past tense, but that was also the case in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Marvel Studios appears to be keeping its options open when it comes to the original Captain America's status in the MCU.

It sounds like Marvel Studios may have spent a lot more money on Captain America: Brave New World than we've been led to believe.
A recent THR report mentioned that the movie's production budget was “around $180 million, less than many other Marvel movies.” While this might well have been accurate back when filming commenced, The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider has heard that extensive reshoots and marketing costs may have pushed the film's price tag closer to the $300 million mark.
If accurate, this would mean that Brave New World would need to take in at least $600 million by the end of its box office run to even sniff a profit.
Despite mixed/negative reviews (53% on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences do seem to be getting more out of Sam Wilson's first solo outing as Cap, and opening weekend estimates are pretty strong. If Brave New World does manage to make anything...

If accurate, this would mean that Brave New World would need to take in at least $600 million by the end of its box office run to even sniff a profit.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters and, as we write this, it sits at a "Rotten" 53% based on 181 reviews. However, fans and moviegoers have now chimed in, awarding the latest MCU movie a "Fresh" 80% Audience Score on the Popcornmeter.
These numbers suggest a divide between fans and critics, with the former group clearly finding plenty to love in Sam Wilson's first solo movie. Ultimately, Rotten Tomatoes isn't the be-all and end-all, but it can make a difference to a movie's opening weekend.
This morning, a new report from Deadline reveals that Captain America: Brave New World is currently on track for a $12 million Thursday following preview screenings which began yesterday at 2pm.
This is above Captain America: The Winter Soldier's $10.2 million in 2014 but behind Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumannia's $17.5 million, which also opened over President's Day weekend in 2023. The last MCU movie, Deadpool & Wolverine,...

As with every MCU movie, rumours swirled about Captain America: Brave New World leading up to its release. As time passed, those were primarily focused on the movie's reshoots, though The Hulk and She-Hulk are just two of the characters who have been rumoured to appear at one time or another.
We've already told you that Amadeus Cho's scenes were scrapped and beyond Harrison Ford's Red Hulk, no additional Hulks make an appearance in the course of Sam Wilson's first solo adventure.
Liv Tyler shows up for one scene as Betty Ross (she was first spotted on set shooting a funeral scene which isn't in the movie) and, beyond her, there's only one major cameo: Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.
Perhaps this was to be expected after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but he and Sam reunite shortly after the battle over Celestial Island leaves Joaquín Torres badly injured.

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters in a number of regions, and one fairly minor subplot - that's certain to come into play in a much bigger way down the road - is the introduction of the unbreakable metal known as Adamantium.
If you've been keeping up with our coverage of the movie you'll probably know most of this already, but just in case, here's a spoiler warning.
Early on, President Ross explains that the precious substance was mined from Tiamut, the gigantic Celestial that was frozen mid-emergence towards the end of Eternals. The potential uses for Adamantium extend well beyond creating new weaponry, making it a highly sought-after commodity that leads to conflict that very nearly results in Wwiii.
Of course, as any Wolverine fan will be aware, this is the metal that was fused to Logan's skeleton during the Weapon X initiative, and it...

Captain America: Brave New World not only serves as a follow-up to Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but also addresses unresolved plot beats from Eternals and The Incredible Hulk.
It's a unique use of the movie that, for the most part, serves it well. However, this is Marvel Studios and the MCU is a franchise that always has one eye on the future.
With that in mind, you're probably wondering whether Captain America: Brave New World does anything specifically to set the stage for Avengers: Doomsday and the long-rumoured World War Hulk movie.
The answer is yes and no.
A falling out with President Ross puts a swift end to the Commander in Chief's hope Sam Wilson will assemble a team who will report to him. However, Cap later realises that the world does need The Avengers and his first recruit is Joaquin Torres, a.k.

The comic books treated the Red Hulk's identity as a big mystery, but Marvel Studios has never shied away from letting us know Harrison Ford's President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross would undergo a rage-fuelled transformation in Captain America: Brave New World.
How and why does Ross go from Commander in Chief to the thing he hates most?
The movie explains that Ross used Samuel Sterns as a scapegoat following the events of The Incredible Hulk, giving the world someone to blame for Abomination's rampage through Harlem. Sterns' intelligence increased greatly after his blood was contaminated by Gamma Radiation, and Ross continued exposing the scientist to it while he was in captivity.
It made Sterns even smarter - he can predict almost anything by seeing the probabilities - but left him horribly deformed. However, it also gave Ross someone who could provide him with the solution to any problem (all while...

Captain America: Brave New World only has one post-credits scene and, well, we might as well kick things off by letting you know that it's far from Marvel Studios' best effort.
It begins with Sam Wilson in The Raft; his arm isn't in a sling, so this clearly isn't happening around the same time he visited President Ross. The Leader, now locked up, asks Cap if he wants to know something funny, though the hero has little interest in sharing a joke after all the good people the villain killed during his quest for revenge.
"We share the same world, don't we?" Samuel Sterns asks. "This world you would die to save. It's coming. I've seen it in the probabilities, seen it plain as day. All you heroes protecting this world. Do you think you're the only ones? Do you think this is the only world? We'll see what happens...

Captain America: Brave New World is finally here and, in the movie's final act, Red Hulk is unleashed! Sam Wilson immediately flies into action, finding himself quickly overwhelmed by the out-of-control U.S. President.
Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross is no Smart Hulk; he's a rampaging monster and only Cap's Vibranium suit and wings level the playing field. After a sizeable amount of damage is done to the White House, Sam leads Red Hulk to a deserted street flanked by cherry blossoms.
The fight continues and Red Hulk comes close to crushing the hero's head after tearing one of his wings off. Noticing that a piece of his Vibranium-charged wing has managed to pierce the villain's skin, Sam uses his remaining wing to stab Red Hulk and unleashes the energy stored within. Red Hulk appears to have been defeated but quickly stands up to continue the fight.
However, Sam talks him down and,...

Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in many theaters overseas and starts rolling out across the U.S. in a matter of hours. We're sure many of you already have tickets to see the latest MCU movie but should you stick around when the credits roll?
By now, we're pretty sure you know the answer to that question. This is Marvel Studios...it would be weird for there not to be an extra scene after the credits, and Captain America: Brave New World is no expectation.
Some of you may have already seen the leaked stinger, but is that it? And, for those of you who haven't been spoiled, is the scene worth sticking around for?
Captain America: Brave New World only has one post-credits scene and it comes right at the end. There is no mid-credits scene. As for whether it's worth waiting for, that's up for...
