If you're a fan of Mindy Kaling and are a Netflix subscriber, there's a bit of good and bad news for you going into the end of February 2025. No, her modern classic teen comedy Never Have I Ever isn't going anywhere (thankfully), but the star's eponymous sitcom The Mindy Project will be departing Netflix by the end of the month. Grab a bear claw and lie on the floor in distress!

As a comedy series that originally aired on Fox, then moved to Hulu as an original when the streamer saved it from cancellation, and was produced by NBCUniversal, it was surprising when the underrated workplace rom-com landed on Netflix back in January 2023. The Marvel Studios movie dropped -60% internationally - -55% if you exclude China - by adding $35.3 million from 52 markets. That takes its overseas cume to $148.2 million which, combined with $141.2 million from North America, brings its global total to $289.4 million.

Profitability isn't exactly in sight but, assuming those reports about the budget ballooning to upwards of $300 million have been blown out of proportion, the movie could break even. Barely.

The latest Marvel Studios movie opened strong over the extended Presidents Day holiday, but dropped by 68% in its second weekend with $28.3 million from 4,105 North American theaters. This is not quite a bad as analysts predicted, and certainly not the worst drop we've seen from recent MCU fare.

Brave New World did manage to hold on to the No. 1 spot and has very little in the way of competition until Disney's Snow White arrives next month. The movie has taken in $289.4M worldwide so far on a reported production budget of $180M, but this is before marketing costs, and some believe the actual budget would be closer to $300M after extensive reshoots.

Captain America: Brave New World is entering its second weekend in theaters but Neon's The Monkey is proving to be stronger competition for the latest Marvel Studios blockbuster than expected.

The horror movie starring She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany is set to nab the indie distributor's second-highest opening ever with an estimated $12 million - $14 million haul following a $5 million Friday. That means it will debut at #2 with Captain America: Brave New World remaining at #1.

As things stand, the blockbuster grossed $7.5 million on Friday for a weekend likely to be somewhere between $25 million - $30 million. That's a little lower than estimates from earlier this week but those are always a little off one way or the other.

Should Captain America: Brave New World end the weekend with around $29 million, that will be a -67% decline for a running 10-day total of $142 million in North America. We're still waiting on updated international numbers.

Deadpool and Wolverine proved to be a much-needed box office jolt for Marvel Studios, and also went over pretty well with fans and critics. Unfortunately, Captain America: Brave New World wasn't quite able to keep the franchise on an even keel.

Though the movie did have a better-than-expected opening weekend (it's already passed the $200 million mark worldwide), the critical reception was mixed-negative, and the fourth Captain America movie is currently sitting - and unlikely to budge - at 49% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Captain America: Brave New World ends with President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross transforming into the out-of-control Red Hulk. Unlike Smart Hulk, She-Hulk, and Abomination, the villain never speaks and, as a result, is more akin to a "classic" angry Hulk.

Collider recently caught up with filmmaker Julius Onah and asked why Red Hulk doesn't talk in the Marvel Studios blockbuster.

"Whether or not Red Hulk should talk, that was something that came up quite a bit," he acknowledged. "My feeling was that he shouldn't, which is what is the case in the movie." According to the Captain America: Brave New World director, it came down to "the transformation that Ross is dealing with and the struggle that Ross is dealing with emotionally."

Onah added, "The moment you gave him language as a Hulk, then people can talk to each other, and you're moving away from pure id to a more rational being.

Even mainstream media outlets have deemed it Marvel Studios' worst post-credits scene. Meanwhile, the response from fans has been mixed to negative at best (a shame seeing as an Avengers: Doomsday tease should have blown everyone's minds).

Talking to Collider, Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah explained that it was always the plan to forego a mid-credits scene in preference of a single Cap-centric final tease.

"It was always the case that what felt organic for this movie was just leaning into a post-credits sequence that could tease what's coming next," the filmmaker said. "We wanted to tease it in a way that didn't become too explicit. This is about introducing Sam as our new Captain America.

Liv Tyler returned as Betty Ross for Captain America: Brave New World, but it sounds like her involvement with the project was far from guaranteed.

Tyler only made a single appearance as the daughter of General "Thunderbolt" Ross in The Incredible Hulk, as most of the 2008 film's supporting characters fell by the wayside after Mark Ruffalo took over from Edward Norton as Bruce Banner.

Mindy Kaling’s new comedy show, “Not Suitable for Work,” has officially been greenlit at Hulu.

The half-hour, single-camera comedy series, which was previously titled “Murray Hill,” has received a series order at the streamer, Hulu announced Tuesday. The order came about 10 months after the show landed at Hulu following a competitive bidding process.

“Not Suitable for Work” follows five work-obsessed 20somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill, according to the official logline.

Kaling created the series, and Charlie Grandy is set to serve as showrunner. Kaling and Grandy will executive produce alongside Howard Klein, who executive produces for 3 Arts Entertainment.

“Not Suitable for Work” is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where both Kaling and Grandy are under overall deals.

Captain America: Brave New World is light on cameos but there is a deep-cut nod to the comic books that brings one of the lamest, weirdest Avengers into the MCU.

In the movie, Sam Wilson turns to Commander Dennis Dunphy, an old friend and member of the United States Armed Forces, for help figuring out what's in the pills Samuel Sterns has been giving President Ross.

It's widely believed that Amadeus Cho was once going to provide those answers, but Dunphy turns to an unnamed associate for the answers Sam needs. However, before he can warn Cap, The Leader murders him.

Does that name, Dennis Dunphy, ring any bells? It should! In the comics, Dunphy is better known as Demolition Man or D-Man, a character who first suited up in 1987's Captain America #328 after being created by Mike Carlin and Ron Wilson a couple of years earlier.

Almost the entirety of that is a battle with Sam Wilson/Captain America, meaning Captain America: Brave New World delivers a near-10 minute fight scene which, love or hate the movie, is an undeniable highlight full of memorable moments.

We've heard that an earlier version of Cap's fight with Red Hulk featured Sabra and Isaiah Bradley, though that seemingly changed relatively early on.
