The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was made for weeks like this one. But with so much going on, what should fans expect to see on CBS this week?
The Senate is making its way through President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill." It's the kind of story tailor-made for Stephen Colbert's monologue, given the Late Show host's politics and the cast of characters spotlighted in these kinds of debates.
Sadly, we won't get to hear what Colbert made of things on Monday night. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
Instead, CBS will reair the June 11 episode. Interested viewers can tune in to see Colman Domingo, Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jonathan Pryce.

South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley’s voice carries great weight, having just led the Gamecocks to an undefeated 2024 NCAA season.
On Saturday morning, Staley gave her opinion on a hot-button of the moment: the race for WNBA Rookie of the Year between Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and the equally impressive Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky.
Staley was asked about the ongoing race by TMZ. Her verdict: Right now, it’s Reese.
“They both are having great years. Don’t get me wrong,” Staley told TMZ Sports. “If I had to pick a Rookie of the Year at this time … today, it’s Angel. Not a doubt. What she’s been able to do with the double-doubles.
“But listen, the season is halfway through, and Caitlin is coming.”
Clark received the most votes for the All-Star Game next week. Reese has a WNBA record streak of 15 consecutive double-doubles.

Prince Harry accepted the Pat Tillman Award at Thursday’s ESPYs ceremony following controversy regarding the foundation’s choice to honor him. The prince received the award in recognition of the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

Pat Tillman was a safety for the Arizona Cardinals who enlisted in the U.S. Army after the 9/11 attacks. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 in a friendly fire incident. ESPN is giving an award to Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.
Harry will receive the 2024 Pat Tillman Award for Service at this year’s Espy Awards, which will be held July 11 on ABC, and be hosted by tennis legend Serena Williams.
The Tillman award is “given to a person with a strong connection to sports who has served others in a way that echoes the legacy of the former NFL player and U.S. Army Ranger, Pat Tillman,” per ESPN.
Tillman was a safety for the Arizona Cardinals who enlisted in the U.S. Army after the 9/11 attacks. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 in a friendly fire incident.

Network executives once came to the upfronts on a mission to get advertisers excited about a handful of new series coming in the fall. This year, TV’s big players took a T-shirt cannon approach.
Every one of the major presentations during the May 13-15 sprint in midtown Manhattan — NBCUniversal, Fox, Disney, Amazon, Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix — emphasized the breadth of the company’s content offerings. Call it the everything-everywhere-all-at-once strategy for the streaming age.
As always, common themes emerged across the week. “Connections” was the buzziest of buzzwords used by executives pitching their hearts out from the stage. Without question, the song of Upfronts ’24, the one heard at most if not all events, was Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em.”
After sorting through the firehose of shows and spin, here are a few trends that stood out this year.
1) Star-Power Surge
Last year, the writers strike kept boldface names from appearing at the upfronts.

Welcome to the 259th episode of TV’s Top 5, The Hollywood Reporter’s TV podcast.
Every week, hosts Lesley Goldberg (West Coast TV editor) and Daniel Fienberg (chief TV critic) break down the latest TV news with context from the business and critical sides, welcome showrunners, executives and other guests, and provide a critical guide of what to watch (or skip, as the case may be).
Here’s how this week’s episode plays out:
1. Headlines
Will Ferrell, Anthony Mackie, Seth Meyers, The Other Black Girl and Not Dead Yet lead the week’s non-upfronts TV industry headlines.
2. Upfronts: Amazon, Netflix
The streamers officially made their first in-person pitches to Madison Avenue ad buyers and the strategy Amazon employed — a ton of news! — vs. Netflix’s approach (they’re the culture!) couldn’t be more different.
3. Upfronts: Legacy media companies (aka everyone else)

Collegiate women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment with Colin Jost and Michael Che.
Before Clark came on set, Che joked: “The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron.”
Clark, who plays for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is regarded as one of the greatest college basketball players ever. While waiting to hear her name called for the WNBA draft, Clark performed a skit in which she called out Che for mocking women’s sports and the WNBA.
She then revealed that she “wrote some jokes” for Che to hear and had him read them out loud.
Clark responded, “You make a lot of jokes about women’s sports, don’t you, Michael?”
Che then read Clark’s jokes, starting with, “The Indiana Fever has the first pick in this Monday’s draft.

Michael Che was humbled by basketball star Caitlin Clark when she crashed Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” segment after the comedian made a sexist joke at her expense.
“The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron,” Che said.
Che then introduced the real Clark ahead of the WNBA draft, where she is expected to be the No. 1 pick overall.
“I am a fan, Caitlin, by the way,” Che told the future WNBA star.
“Really, Michael? Because I heard that little apron joke you did,” Clark clapped back.
Clark called out Che for making a lot of jokes about women’s sports, which the comedian tried to deny. Colin Jost chimed in to say, “It’s definitely a lot,” and exposed Che with a super-cut of his past jokes.
“Unlike Che, I support women,” Jost said, throwing his co-host under the bus.

Updated with ratings data: The University of South Carolina overwhelmed the Iowa Hawkeyes Sunday in a rollicking NCAA Women’s College Basketball Championship game that capped an unprecedented run for women’s sports. The game that ended 87-75 saw University of Iowa megastar Caitlin Clark wrap her collegiate career and the birth of not one but two WNBA stars, as Clark and South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso head off to next week’s WNBA draft.
The game delivered 18.7 million viewers for ESPN and ABC, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings. That means the game qualifies as the second most-watched women’s sporting event ever on U.S. television behind only the 2015 Women’s World Cup Final in July 2015, which grabbed 25.4 million viewers.
“With a record-setting audience of 18.7 million viewers, Sunday’s Iowa-South Carolina title game was a fitting finale to the most-viewed ever NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament,” said ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro.

It was perfection topped with sweet revenge for the South Carolina Gamecocks, who capped a perfect season Sunday by beating Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, 87-75.
Iowa raced out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter, but a deep and relentless South Carolina fought back. It used its depth to outscore the Iowa bench by 36-0, a remarkable edge.
South Carolina is the 10th undefeated team to win the Women’s Championship, finishing 38-0. They won their third national title in seven tournaments and second in three seasons. South Carolina tied Baylor and Stanford for the third-most championships all-time.
South Carolina lost in the semifinals last year, but went right back to work even after losing five players to the WNBA. They had been aiming for this moment since the first day of practice with a group even its head coach Dawn Staley called “unlikely.”
