Donald Trump, At Army’s 250th Anniversary Parade, Says “Every Other Country Celebrates Their Victories; It’s About Time America Did Too”
Image
Donald Trump spoke briefly at the 250th anniversary Army parade, after reviewing a procession of thousands of soldiers in present and past uniforms, an array of military hardware, aerial flyovers and a large fireworks display.

The weather did not interrupt the event, as Trump and members of his administration gathered on an elaborate reviewing stand set up on the Ellipse.

Lee Greenwood sang his standard, “God Bless The USA” and he, like a few others, also wished the president a happy birthday. Trump turned 79 on Saturday.

“Every other country celebrates their victories; it’s about time America did too,” Trump said.

The parade was a celebration not just of the history of the Army, but a nod to its future.

Michelle Obama To Skip Trump’s Inauguration After Slamming Him In DNC Speech
Image
On Tuesday, the office of Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, announced that the former first lady would not be attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

A statement from the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama declared, “Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration.”

Over the years, Michelle has been unabashedly vocal about her loathing for Trump and accused him of endangering her family through offensive and malicious language.

Ahead of Trump’s swearing-in in 2017, Michelle and Obama invited Trump and his wife, Melania, to the White House for tea and discussion. The attempt to bridge the distance between the political figures was unsuccessful, and in a 2023 podcast, Michelle recounted her experience of Trump’s inauguration in 2017: “To sit on that stage and watch the opposite of what we represented on display – there was no diversity,...

How To Watch The New Hampshire Primary Results
Image
A small contingent of journalists gathered near the Canadian border earlier this morning to watch as Dixville Notch, Nh, continued its tradition of casting the first ballots on an election day.

Nikki Haley cleaned Donald Trump’s clock in this hamlet — 6 votes to none.

As the day goes on, network correspondents are fanning out across the state at precincts to talk to actual voters, after months in which the first-in-the-nation primary was judged and assessed by polls. Commentary and analysis is focusing on whether

Haley and her top surrogate, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, blitzed the airwaves on Monday, while Trump held a final rally in Laconia, Nh, where he predicted that Haley would be out of the race after tonight. He was interrupted by climate protesters, who have been a frequent presence at events in recent days.

There is a Democratic race, too. Joe Biden is not on the ballot,...

Iowa Caucuses: Networks Face Fierce NFL & Emmys Competition In First 2024 Vote
Image
Networks are heavily promoting their night of Iowa caucus coverage, with reporters fanned out across the state and, throughout the day on Monday, anchors doing their best to stir up excitement in the waiting game before voting actually begins.

But as large as the investment is for broadcast and cable networks, the coverage is facing heavy competition on the night of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Fox has the Emmys, and ABC has what is likely to draw the biggest audience, the NFL playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Broadcast networks are sticking to their regular schedules with the possibility of news updates, leaving the ongoing coverage to their streaming and cable channels.

Four years ago, about 8.5 million watched Iowa caucus coverage across the three major cable news networks, but it was for a Democratic primary with a tight race for first place. In...

Network Correspondents Talk About Covering A Trump-Dominated Iowa Race, And Why They Don’t Rule Out A Frigid Caucus-Night Twist
Image
The Iowa caucus on Monday will be like no other —- and that was apparent from the start, well before subzero weather raised doubts about turnout, stymied campaigns in the final sprint and left an army of reporters and consultants seeking the warm refuge of Des Moines hotel lobbies.

The expectation is that Donald Trump will win —- but like past caucuses, that will only tell part of the story. In the race for second place, rival Nikki Haley is looking for momentum for a potential victory next week in New Hampshire, and Ron DeSantis wants to defy pundits who have written him off.

The release of the final poll before the caucuses on Saturday night —- one sponsored by the Des Moines Register, NBC News and Mediacom —- helped set expectations for the results, with much coverage framed on whether candidates exceed or under perform. The poll showed Trump...

Hillary Clinton Reportedly Has Not Ruled Out a 2020 Run
As Democratic candidates announce their intent to run against President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, none yet has really been a surprise. But, according to CNN’s Jeff Zeleny, one unexpected contender may still enter the race: Hillary Clinton.

Trump Defends Family Separation Policy as Former First Ladies Call for It to End
Washington — President Donald Trump defended an administration policy that has seen almost 2,000 children separated from their parents at the border, amid increased media coverage that included images of kids housed in indoor warehouse spaces behind chain-link fences.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, appearing in the White House briefing room, told reporters that the problem was loopholes in the law that prevented the ability to detain full family units.

“Those who criticize the implementation of our laws offer only one countermeasure — open borders,” she said, adding that there is a “lot of misinformation” as to what the Department of Homeland Security is doing.

“This is a very serious issue that has resulted after years and years of Congress not taking action,” she said.

Four former first ladies have condemned the policy, the most recent being Rosalynn Carter, who called it “disgraceful and a shame to our country.”

Hillary Clinton Questions Whether Melania Trump Is ‘Serious About Actually Following Through’ And Tackling Cyberbullying

Hillary Clinton believes First Lady Melania Trump has not kept her word about doing more to prevent cyberbullying.

The former First Lady, 69, questioned whether Trump is really “serious” about her commitment to the cause since she has yet to release a formal plan for her anti-cyberbullying efforts after vowing in November to be an advocate for women and children.

“No, no and, look, I don’t think anybody is doing enough on cyberbullying,” Clinton said during a roundtable interview with Mic on Tuesday when asked if she thought Trump was doing enough with her platform.

News of the impending appointments was first reported by Politico. ABC News declined comment. Although Zeleny and Saulny are print reporters, both appear with some frequency on television. And in an e-mail to Politico, Times executive editor Jill Abramson noted that she

Rick Santorum
Watch: Jon Stewart Mocks Santorum's 'Bullsh*t' Reporter Rant
Rick Santorum
You know things are getting pretty heated on the campaign trail when even Rick Santorum is cursing in public.

On Tuesday night's "Daily Show," Jon Stewart reviewed Santorum's recent decision to curse out New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny as a fairly positive move on the candidate's part. He didn't even make one Google Santorum joke!

Santorum let loose on the Nyt reporter for thinking he said Mitt Romney was, "The worst Republican in the country," instead of just the worst Republican to go up against Barack Obama on healthcare. Stewart got pretty excited by Santorum's fired up, "This is bullsh*t" retort, and suggested he keep it up until November.

"I think this is how he should talk from now on!" Stewart joked, before making more than a few "Hulk" jokes, naturally.

Watch the clip above to see Stewart's reaction as well as his take on Romney's own "Gotcha" moment,...

Santorum Responds To ‘Bullsh*t’ Outburst On CNN: Romney Campaign ‘Fed The Line To All The Reporters’
Rick Santorum's interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Monday gave the Gop hopeful a chance to address his outburst at The New York Times' Jeff Zeleny. Santorum reiterated that a conservative who hasn't had a confrontation with the Nyt isn't "worth their salt" — and went further, contending that Mitt Romney's campaign "fed the line to all the reporters."...

Rick Santorum Calls Romney Question 'Bulls--t,' Says Real Republicans Yell At 'New York Times Reporters' (Video)
Rick Santorum
The New York Times got a big story out of Rick Santorum this weekend, but not necessarily in the way they expected. The former Pennsylvania senator berated Jeff Zeleny, a reporter from the paper at a campaign rally for dairy farmers in Wisconsin, unhappy with a question predicated on him having called Mitt Romney "the worst Republican candidate." Santorum said that the reporter was distorting his statement -- he called Romney the worst Republican to run opposed to President Obama's healthcare plan, given his record in Massachusetts -- and unloaded a number of accusations, ultimately calling the question "bulls--t."

Santorum Doubles Down: ‘You’re Not A Real Republican Until You Curse Out A Nyt Reporter’
Following his profanity-laced blowup at New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny, Rick Santorum stopped by Fox and Friends Monday morning to explain what happened. "Yeah, you know, if you haven't cursed out a New York Times reporter during the course of a campaign, you're not really a real Republican is the way i look at it!" Santorum quipped. "I mean, it was just one of these harassing moments and, you know, after having answered the question a few times and, you know, (he) sort of comes back with the same old question and same old spin. I said okay, I've had enough of this you know what. And so I just -- you know, that's what I did and, you know, look, we're out there -- we're out there slugging away...and we're mixing it up."...

Santorum Chews Out Nyt’s Jeff Zeleny: ‘Quit Distorting My Words… It’s Bullsh*t!’
CBS This Morning had the exclusive video of Republican hopeful Rick Santorum's blowup at New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny. Zeleny asked the former Pennsylvania Senator if Romney was the worst Republican in the country, which set off Santorum. "What speech did you listen to?! Stop lying! I said he was the worst Republican to run on the issue of Obamacare. And that's what I was talking about! Would you guys quit distorting what I'm saying...quit distorting my words, if I see it, it's bullshit!" Santorum erupted. "Come on, man! What are you doing?"...

Does Newt Gingrich Think Beach Vacations Are the Solution to All Problems?
Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich.Just as soon as Newt Gingrich returned from his Aegean cruise, his campaign staff departed for greener—by which we mean more successful at fund-raising—pastures. New York Times political reporter Jeff Zeleny asked Gingrich about the choice to suspend his nascent campaign for two weeks to sail around the Greek Isles. “To have a major breakthrough in policy, you have to be able to stop and think,” the candidate told him. Gingrich has a bizarre preoccupation with vacations.
