The state of journalism is so bad that I don’t even know how bad things are in the world of journalism. For starters, there’s the whole newspaper versus online publishing conundrum that has been going on for ages. Funds have always been an issue when it comes to media outlets that have practiced honest reporting. But with more and more companies shaking hands with politicians, it’s becoming difficult for publications to secure advertisements because politicians can use CEOs with big pockets to not entertain those who don’t write puff pieces for a certain political party. Due to this phenomenon, many news agencies are cutting out the middleman and straight-up welcoming government ads, thereby becoming mouthpieces for the party in power. So, when anything, and I mean literally anything, happens that can cause the people to question those in power, the media just swoops in and obfuscates...

Linking two top players on the Spanish TV scene, Barcelona studio Filmax has acquired international sales rights to Spanish comedy “Co-Husbands,” whose backers include Telecinco Cinema, producer of Guillermo del Toro’s “Pan’s Labyrinth” and J.A. Bayona’s The Impossible.”
Filmax will unveil a trailer to clients at this week’s Berlin European Film Market, before the film’s release in Spain on March 10.
The second feature from Lucia Alemany (“Innocence”), ”Co-Husbands” toplines “House of Flowers” star Paco León. In a gender flip set-up, it turns on Emilio and Tono who both receive phone calls that their wives are in comas after a ski-resort avalanche. At the hospital admissions desk, they make a startling discovery: their wives are, in fact, the same person … Laura. Forced to wait together until Laura regains consciousness, Emilio and Toni engage in a battle to prove who is her one and only true husband.

Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks has commenced sales at the Afm on Spanish rom-com thriller Get Her… If You Can (Que Te Juegas), which marks the first original film by Spanish telco giant Telfonica’s pay-tv division Movistar+.
FilmSharks chief Guido Rud reunites with leading Spanish comedy star and producer Santiago Segura (hit comedy franchise Torrente) and his Bowfinger International Pictures partner Maria Luisa Gutierrez on the project. FilmSharks and Bowfinger worked together on comedy Almost Legends and Empowered.
Rud is also touting remake rights on the project, which Telefonica’s film production head...
