BBC Studios has announced the titles coming to BritBox in July 2025, which include a range of new BritBox Originals and classic British fare. BritBox is a digital video subscription service offering the largest collection of British TV in the U.S. and Canada.

The July lineup includes the groundbreaking series Code of Silence, starring Rose Ayling-Ellis as a Deaf canteen worker who becomes entangled in covert police work. The edgy crime drama, praised for its authentic portrayal and gripping story, will be available to stream in both English and American Sign Language (Asl) on July 24.

Things looked better for several of the characters in Episode 5 (although not everyone), but the latest episode of 1923 — ominously called "The Mountain Teeth of Monsters" — undoes any notions of life taking a more positive swing.

It was a lucky break after the devastating sexual assault Alex endured from an American train passenger, an ordeal that would’ve gotten Alex arrested for assault had it not been for Hillary and Paul vouching that her actions were in self-defense. Episode 5 of the second season of 1923 offers the hope of winter's end but, as the title indicates, "Only Gunshots to Guide Us," spring will arrive with a bang. As Father Renaud (Sebastian Roche) and Marshal Kent (Jamie McShane) continue to hunt for Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), Pete Plenty Clouds (Jeremy Gauna), and Runs His Horse (Michael Spears), both Alexandra (Julie Schlaepfer) and Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) remain on arduous journeys to reunite.

After Episode 4, Alexandra seemed to be in a better position than Spencer, but it quickly becomes clear in the latest episode that the opposite is true. There's no real information about the Duttons in Montana in "Only Guns to Guide Us," but with Spencer getting closer to home, war appears imminent.

The plight of women during the early 20th century and how it manifests itself in different settings is evident, as is the ever-present class divide, in episode 5 of 1923's second season.

Body horror continues its hot streak, as Deadline reports today that “Salem” star Janet Montgomery has been set to lead the sci-fi body horror feature Symbiosis.

Mark Heller (The Passage) directs from a screenplay by Stephen James Thompson.

In Symbiosis, “a husband-and-wife team are working over Christmas as the only two people who can save humanity from an alien parasite — tiny tapeworm creatures which have invaded the bodies of the human race. Isolated and suffocating under the weight of their circumstances, the fault lines of the married couple’s relationship are exposed.”

Just the mention of tapeworms is enough to get the gag reflex warmed up.

Janet Montgomery said of the project, “When I read Symbiosis, I knew I had to be part of this unique story. The intimate exploration of a relationship on the brink set in a dystopian world makes the role of Yulia such a fascinating and complex human story.

Exclusive: British actress Janet Montgomery, known for her starring roles in U.S. series New Amsterdam and Salem, and roles in movies including Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar winner Black Swan, is set to star in sci-fi body horror Symbiosis.

UK indie 1185, which recently produced Sitges and FrightFest horror All You Need Is Death, will be talking to buyers about the project at this week’s European Film Market in Berlin ahead of an April start for the movie.

Directed by Mark Heller (The Passage), screenplay is written by Stephen James Thompson, who joined the 1185 Films stable in 2023 as its development consultant to head up the film and TV slate. The story centers around the Dutton family during the titular year, which included the Western Expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. It quickly broke records for Paramount+, paving the way for a renewal, but 1923 season 2 has been delayed due to the impact of the writers' and actors' strikes.

It has now been confirmed that 1923 season 2 will premiere on Paramount+ on February 23. The news about season 2's release date comes along with the announcement that the first season of the prequel will begin airing on Paramount Network, the original home of Yellowstone, as of December 8.

“Yellowstone” is back.

Taylor Sheridan’s phenomenally popular series, the most-watched show currently airing on television, returns on Sunday, Nov. 10. The new batch of episodes (six in total) serve as the second half of the show’s fifth season, which began way back in November 2022. Since then, the show has endured a very public feud with its star Kevin Costner, two strikes that shutdown Hollywood and a considerable amount of handwringing about what direction the series will ultimately take.

And while it appears that the mainline series is coming to an end, although that “final season” bit has been left out of the marketing materials for the second half of season 5 (so far), there will still be plenty to come from Sheridan’s considerable “Yellowstone” universe. These plans include a whole suite of “Yellowstone” spinoffs, which are somewhat confusing and difficult to parse through. But that’s why we’re here.

1923 season 2 gets a production update, returning to its Montana location after a setback. The popular Yellowstone prequel, led by Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in their respective roles as Jacob and Cara Dutton, began filming on the strike-delayed 1923 season 2 in July. The news comes after the Paramount+ drama has revealed new casting details, along with new story details that point to the show taking a potentially darker turn.

NBC Montana confirms that the upcoming episodes of 1923 season 2 will film some scenes in Butte, Montana. The report notes that even though most of the filming so far has taken place in Austin, Texas, production will be moving up to Montana next month. It is expected that filming will last for about a month, taking place at a ranch, the Civic Center, and a couple of places in Uptown Butte. This is expected to start somewhere between the middle to late October.

Exclusive: Augustus Prew (Players) has joined the cast of the Paramount+ original drama series 1923 for Season 2. In a recurring role, Prew will portray ‘Paul’, a dapper, bookish, well-to-do young British man on a passenger ship.

1923 follows a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren). The series explores the early 20th century, when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition plague the Mountain West and the Duttons who call it home.

Season 1 also stars Brandon Sklenar, Aminah Nieves, Darren Mann, Julia Schlaepfer, Brian Geraghty, Sebastian Roche, Jennifer Ehle, Marley Shelton, Jerome Flynn, Michelle Randolph and Robert Patrick.

1923 Season 2 seems on course for some major Dutton family drama. Star Brandon Sklenar suggests fans should saddle up for a "darker" second season of the Yellowstone prequel.

Speaking with Forbes, Sklenar teases a big tone shift for 1923 Season 2 as he'll share more screen time with co-leads Harrison Ford (Jacob Dutton) and Helen Mirren (Cara Dutton), who play the Dutton family patriarch and matriarch. He also claimed the series finale would be must-see TV. "The tone shifts a lot and its definitely a bit darker. Its very beautiful. Its so hard for me to not give away spoilers. I do get plenty of Helen [Mirren] and Harrison [Ford] time, and its going to be special. I mean, the finale of the series is probably one of the best things Ive read in my life," he said.

According to Deadline, Montgomery has signed on to play the recurring role of Hillary, "a thoughtful woman who does not want to see injustice go unpunished." The actor, who has also appeared in Downton Abbey, This Is Us, and Quantum Leap, becomes the second new addition to the 1923 family after Jennifer Carpenter, who joined the Paramount+ series in June 2024.
