Goodbyes might be coming in Chicago Fire season 14, but it seems there are three characters we don’t have to worry about leaving NBC’s hit series!
As first reported by Deadline, NBC has inked new deals with three core members of the Chicago Fire cast to ensure their return for the upcoming season. Set to return are Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Dermot Mulroney, who have all closed new deals to continue on NBC’s original One Chicago drama. This will guarantee that we won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to Severide, Kidd, or Chief Pascal in the upcoming season.
It honestly makes sense that this is the trio Wolf Entertainment and NBC worked to lock down first for the new season. Kidd and Severide are the show’s central couple and are in the midst of a major storyline with the season 13 finale revealing the...

You already know how much we love the One Chicago universe here.
But naturally, there’s always a soft spot for Chicago Fire in particular, as it’s the mothership and the strongest of the pack, leading to two successful spinoffs.
Chicago Fire has been smoldering hot since its debut in 2012, and as we head into its fourteenth season, the series has only proven that it has many stories still left to tell.
(Peacock/Screenshot)
With Chicago Fire Season 13, the series still has six key characters from the first season who remain strong, which is rather impressive. Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide remains at the helm of the series and has been throughout the season.
We also have Joe Miñoso‘s Joe Cruz, Christian Stolte as Randall “Mouch” McHolland, and David Eigenberg’s Christopher Herrmann.

‘Chicago Fire’ Showrunner Reveals Truth Behind Stella and Kelly Getting Pregnant in Season 13 Finale
The One Chicago universe has run its course for this broadcast season, which means that Chicago Fire Season 13 has aired its season finale. As far as romance was concerned across the franchise, we had more beautiful endings than sad climaxes. With the firefighting crew at Firehouse 51, there was some interesting and unexpected news for one of its foremost couples. Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and her husband, Kelly Severide's (Taylor Kinney), have been an item for a while now, and in recent times, the pair began considering expanding their family unit. The most likely path to achieving this was via adoption, as Kidd made it clear she'd not like to get pregnant. However, in the Season 13 finale, the show threw up a surprise: Stella was pregnant!

The Season 13 finale of Chicago Fire will air on NBC tomorrow night, but the future of the show has already been shaken up. It was reported back in April that both Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett would leave the show after the Season 13 finale, but new information has come to light that might discredit this. Chicago Fire was already renewed for Season 14 at the start of May, and while NBC has yet to announce an official return date for the show, it’s expected back on the network before the end of this year, if not extremely early in 2026.
Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman recently sat down for an interview with ScreenRant to talk about the Season 13 finale, and when asked about Season 14, she admitted, “We haven’t sat down for Season 14 yet. We don’t know what we’re going to do.” However, she was also asked about how...

Chicago Fire is about to sever ties with two adored characters: Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). At the very least, these two have multiple seasons to develop their personas and establish fanbases. The same can't be said for some of their predecessors.
Sometimes, things happen, and characters leave shows before it feels like their arcs have come to a proper close. One Chicago has over a dozen seasons in the books, so there are plenty of examples to choose from, but we decided to focus on the ones that only lasted a season (or less).
These are the cops, firefighters and doctors we would've liked more time with.

Chicago Fire is rounding third base on its current season, and the finale episode is in sight. It's going to be an exciting, albeit bittersweet finale, given that the show is going to part ways with two notable cast members. We can't determine how these characters will be written off, but we can determine how many episodes season 13 will release as a whole.
Chicago Fire season 13 is going to consist of 22 episodes when all is said and done. This may not seem like a big deal, but it's actually a very encouraging sign for a show that was hit hard, like so many others, by the Hollywood strikes. The show's twelfth season featured only 13 episodes, and several of the storylines that were planned were presumably cut short due to this limited screen time.

We know who's leaving Chicago Fire in the upcoming season. Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) have been shown the door, even though there are a few episodes left in the current season. We're not here to talk about them, though. We're here to discuss the characters who are essential to the show's make up.
Ritter and Carver are going to be major losses, but the show will survive without them. The four characters we've selected below are exceptions to this rule. It would be hard to imagine Chicago Fire without them, and as such, we're confident they will stick around for season 14. At least we hope. My goodness, can you imagine?

Chicago Fire has been spreading the narrative focus over the last few episodes. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) have been involved, but their personal lives have taken a backseat to workplace drama. Understandably so, given the severity of recent incidents.
It's nice to see Severide and Kidd working through difficult workplace situations together, but the last time we really weighed in on their personal lives, there was a lot going on. The couple had decided to adopt a child, and were subsequently approved for adoption (after what we theorize was an assist by Joe Minoso's Cruz). There's been little progress on the adoption storyline in recent episodes, but all that is going to change during season 13's final stretch.

Chicago Fire really built up anticipation for "Post Mortem." The episode was heavily promoted by showrunner Andrea Newman and returning star Eamonn Walker, who hadn't appeared on the show since the season 12 finale. "Post Mortem" was anything but a warm reunion, however. The episode delivered on the chaos promised in the tense promo, and marked a seismic shift for Firehouse 51.
Here's what you need to know about "Post Mortem," aka the most important episode of Chicago Fire season 13. Spoilers Ahead.
It's rare to see the level of intrigue and mystery that we get in the opening scene. Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) is shown watching a news broadcast in a waiting room. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) eventually show up, and Herrmann wonders aloud how a firefighter could have been left behind. "We cleared that house,...

It’s that time of year when we know that more cancellations and renewals are likely to come. There are still far too many shows on the bubble, and it’s hard to call which way the networks will go with some of the shows. That’s certainly the case with the NBC shows.
While I would love to see everything make it through because I think the hard work of the cast and crew deserves to be recognized, there are certain shows that I want to see more than others. I’m invested in the storylines and the writing, or the shows have already ended on cliffhangers that I need answers to. Here are the six NBC shows I need to see make it through to the 2025–2026 TV season.

"Post Mortem" is not the title of an easygoing and low risk episode. The phrase, which means an "examination of a dead body to determine the cause of death," is going to dictate the pace and the tone of the upcoming Chicago Fire episode in which Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) returns.
There's been a lot of anticipation surrounding the episode, which airs Wednesday, April 16. We're all excited to see Boden after his season 12 departure, and we're curious to see how the former Chief deals with his troubled successor, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney). These elements are more than enough to sustain a compelling episode. But apparently, there's more.

Chicago Fire has already delivered plenty of incredible moments in Season 13, but there is plenty to come according to one star of the series. Joe Miñoso has played Joe Cruz in the Chicago franchise since 2012, first playing the role in Chicago Fire before also crossing over into Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. as well. While discussing his role on the show with MovieWeb’s George Edelman, Miñoso shared a teasing insight into what fans will see as the current season comes to a close next month.
Chicago Fire has seen several changes recently, with Chief Boden leaving the station at the end of Season 12, and Dermott Mulroney’s Dom Pascal taking over as chief at the beginning of Season 13. While the fallout of a tragedy that has befallen Pascal in recent weeks continues into the season finale, Miñoso expects fans to experience “jaw drops” in the final episodes. He...

We’re getting closer to May, which means Upfronts. Of course, that means that day when all the bulk renewals and cancellations come in. Some networks are leaving us with a lot on the line, and NBC is one of them.
There aren’t many NBC shows renewed (or even canceled!) so far. Let’s take a look at the ones we can get excited about. This is only for scripted shows. Reality TV is a different beast, and we’ll take a look at that separately.
NBC shows already renewed
So far, only two shows have been renewed for NBC, and they are both comedy shows. This is great news for comedy, as sitcoms have struggled a bit across the broadcast networks recently. I don’t think it’s bad comedy, and I think it’s more to do with the way viewing habits are changing — and the broadcast...

Chicago Fire is a revolving door. There have been tons of characters who have stuck around for the long haul, of course, but most have been written out of the show, or gotten married and moved on to different careers. We remember them, and we miss them.
Some characters, however, don't stick around long enough to solidify their Chicago Fire legacy. They were compelling while on the show, but they left so quickly that their impact is barely felt in seasons that follow. This article is meant to shine a light on them, and recount why they left.

We all know that Dermot Mulroney can act, but Chicago Fire hasn’t really given him a chance to shine up until this latest episode. It’s hard not to feel absolutely heartbroken for Pascal in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 16.
Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Chicago Fire season 13, episode 16.
After a two-week break, the episode picks up with Pascal grieving the loss of his wife. He is not just going to accept that it’s an accident, focused on getting the answers he needs to be able to move on. It’s one of the stages of grief, and those at Firehouse 51 are going to support him through this, even if he doesn’t ask for any help.
Meanwhile, Severide and Kidd find out that Jack Damon is out at Firehouse 20. He says that it’s his choice, but it’s really not, and it shows the toxicity of some of the firehouses.

That episode also revealed that Severide and Kidd had advanced in their quest to become adoptive parents.
Carver was out seeking treatment for his alcoholism, and Violet was pretty gutted about it.
A relationship between Damon (Baby Severide) and Lizzy Novak may also be blooming.
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 16 recap

We all knew that Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) was going to be the focus of "In the Rubble." We had three weeks to watch and rewatch the promo for the Chicago Fire episode, which saw the once measured firefighter lashing out and acting irrationally. The episode wasted no time setting Pascal's conflict up, either.
"In the Rubble" opens with the revelation that Pascal tried to push for an investigation into the death of his wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland). He demanded accountability, even though the car crash was a pretty clear instance of a tragic accident. This did not stop the Chief, however. He decided the man who caused the crash should be punished. And he started acting more recklessly than ever before.
Pascal put up a decent front when he came back from two weeks leave. He told Firehouse 51 not to walk on eggshells around him and treat him normally,...

It really seemed as though Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) had crossed the point of no return. The character had jeopardized his career, his family, and his future as a free man because of a decision he made in season one. Thankfully, he got out of it with a suspension and a slap on the wrist.
Part of the reason Cruz was able to avoid disaster was because he had Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) in his corner. The two men have had their differences over the years, but Severide advised him and helped ensure that the firefighter would fight to see another day. And we think Cruz has repaid the favor offscreen.

Chicago Fire struck a pretty compelling balance during the episode "Too Close." A lot of the attention went toward Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), and the tragic death of his wife. The second most important developement in the episode, though, was the confirmation that Stellaride are going to be parents.
The couple were told at the episode's onset that they have been approved for adoption. It's a thrilling revelation, but one that Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) have been reluctant to share given Pascal's grim news. Don't worry, though, there will be plenty of time to gush over the Stellaride baby in upcoming episodes.

Chicago Fire was a somber affair during "Too Close." The episode concluded with the death of Monica Pascal (KaDee Strickland), the wife of Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney). It was a shock to everyone within Firehouse 51, and it will no doubt inform the tone of upcoming episodes.

Jack Damon returned in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 15. The big question was about who from Firehouse 51 wouldn’t survive the episode.
Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Chicago Fire season 13, episode 15.
The episode started with Kidd and Severide getting a visit from the social worker to check on their home to make sure the space was suitable for a kid. However, it was soon clear that there were life threatening situations.
To add humor to the episode, Pascal went on the hunt for the perfect anniversary gift. Would that humor turn into something heartbreaking? What we do know is that Mouch isn’t the best for offering anniversary gift advice.

Everybody's favorite fire chief is headed back to Chicago. Well, everyone's favorite except, perhaps, current fire chief Dom Pascal (played by Dermot Mulroney). That's right, after his departure from Chicago Fire back in 2024, actor Eamonn Walker will be returning to the show to portray the character he embodied for twelve seasons: Wallace Boden. But don't get too excited — he's not coming back in a full-time capacity.
In new reporting by The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed by showrunner Andrea Newman that the newly-promoted First Deputy Commissioner Wallace Boden would appear in an upcoming episode of the beloved Dick Wolf procedural. After not appearing in the recent mega-crossover event that took place on the Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. television shows, fans wondered if they would ever see Boden again. And now we finally have more details about his temporary return.

The new Chicago Fire episode has some images that tease an intriguing storyline for Firefighter Christopher Herrmann.
This new episode is slated to debut on Wednesday, February 26.
The latest installment is called Bar Time, and it will presumably further flesh out the storyline about Herrmann (played by David Eigenberg) considering retirement.
That was shocking information that Randy “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) stumbled upon during the previous episode.
In a key scene, Herrmann appeared more concerned with creating the perfect drink at Molly’s than becoming the new chief at Firehouse 51.
Herrmann also spoke about franchising Molly’s, which would keep him busy after leaving the Chicago Fire Department. But just how soon would he leave the Cfd?

Chicago Fire puts characters in danger on a weekly basis. We see firefighters and medics putting their lives on the line to protect others. Unfortunately, it doesn't always end well. There have been several deaths over the course of the show's 13 seasons. Some of which, we are still reeling from.
In an effort to celebrate, grieve, and simply remember the Chicago Fire characters who have fallen, we decided to compile a list of every major death that has occurred, from the pilot to the present. It gets a little bleak, but such are the risks of the job. Our one rule is that the character in question had to have worked as a firefighter/medic.

It's cliched to refer to a landmark or location as a character in a show, but Molly's Pub comes close. The bar has appeared in all four One Chicago shows, and been the setting of some of the most loved and revisited moments in Chicago Fire history.
Which is why the announcement made by Herrmann (David Eigenberg) during the episode "Born of Fire" was so noteworthy. The character informed his 51 co-workers that he intends to expand Molly's into a franchise, and likens it to the real life restaurant chain Ditka's.
There are a lot of dangling plot threads to address post-"Born of Fire," but the title of the follow up episode, leads us to believe that the Molly's Pub expansion will be getting more screen time. The episode is titled "Bar Time." Granted, Chicago Fire likes to sometimes sneak double meanings into titles, but "Bar Time" seems to be...

Chicago Fire characters have always gotten into tricky situations. They have been arrested, involved in physical altercations, and punished for their actions. Look at Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) or Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). One Chicago Fire alum has suffered consequences from a real life altercation, though.
Eric Mabius was arrested on Thursday, February 20. The actor, who played Jack Nesbitt on Chicago Fire, was allegedly involved in a confrontation with a woman at a Florida bar. Police told Hello Magazine that Mabius was "belligerent" and pushed the aforementioned woman to the ground. She'd be told to leave the bar shortly before, and allegedly began spitting at the bartender.

The situation got worse, apparently. A separate TMZ report claimed that the actor pushed another woman to the ground, and ripped a handful of hair from her scalp in the process.
