Richard O'Regan is a journalist and writer.His work has been featured by nearly every major broadcaster in the US and Canada. In 2020, he was the head writer of the Amazon Studios documentary series Falling for a Killer and the writer and producer of the ABC News podcast series Cutthroat, Inc. O'Regan's awards include a Peabody, a Canadian Screen Award, two Emmys (plus five nominations in five separate categories), a Christopher Award, a DuPont-Columbia Silver Baton, and an Overseas Press Club Citation for Excellence. O'Regan spent a decade covering breaking news in the US, Europe, Central America, and Africa before moving into writing and producing long-form documentaries and educational programs. O'Regan created a current affairs broadcast for the Christian Science Monitor and ran a successful independent documentary and new media production company.?In Canada, he helped create an award-winning current affairs series for CBC News before moving into showrunning and writing documentary series and scripted non-fiction dramas. In that role, he created successful series for networks including Discovery Canada and Investigation Discovery. He has produced, directed, and written some of television's most popular non-fiction programs and series - including Trauma: Life in the ER, World Birth Day, The First 48, Hopkins 24/7, Intervention, and Nothing Personal.
