Penn Badgley promises at least some of the many loose ends from Joe’s past will be tied up with You‘s much-anticipated fifth and final season. Netflix has renewed You for a fifth and final season and promises fans will receive a satisfying “killer” ending to Joe Goldberg’s story. While Netflix did confirm the charismatic serial killer will return to wrap things up, the streaming service didn’t provide any hints as to what’s in store for Joe.

Sera Gamble, who developed the series with Greg Berlanti and served as showrunner for the first four seasons, will be stepping back from showrunner for the final season.

Will Joe’s ways change now that he’s moved to London? The trailer for Netflix’s You season four shows Joe’s found a new group of friends, yet it teases that he’s fixated on the one who got away – Marienne.

Describing his new “friends,” Joe says, “I fell in with the most insane, damaged people on earth. A circle of privileged douchebags.” However, the trailer also reveals that there could be a new romance introduced between Joe and a member of his new circle.

Penn Badgley returns to lead the cast as Joe Goldberg and Tati Gabrielle is back as Marienne Bellamy. Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti developed the series, and Gamble serves as showrunner. Berlanti, Gamble, Gina Girolamo, Leslie Morgenstein, Sarah Schechter, and Michael Foley executive produce.

Season four part one premieres on February 9, 2023.

Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, returns as Professor Jonathan Moore in the season 4 trailer for “You,” which aptly features the song “I Ran (So Far Away)” by Hidden Citizens.

The beginning of the teaser sees Joe attempting to reconnect with Marienne, played by Tati Gabrielle. She quickly shoots down his efforts. “You’re a murderer, Joe,” she tells him. “You’re wrong about me. I’m gonna prove it to you,” he insists.

Joe then travels to London, where he begins embracing his new identity as a professor and laying low, finding himself in the realm of upper-echelon society, whom he refers to as “the most insane, damaged people on Earth: a circle of privileged douchebags.”

Netflix unveiled the trailer on Monday morning, and the series embraces change as Joe moves to London.

Unfortunately, he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery in which it looks like he's being stalked.

We've witnessed Joe stalk his way through three seasons of the juggernaut, but now, the show is on the other foot.

"After his previous life went up in flames, Joe Goldberg has fled to Europe to escape his "messy" past, adopt a new identity, and, of course, to pursue true love," Netflix teases.

"But Joe soon finds himself in the strange new role of reluctant detective as he discovers he may not be the only killer in London."

"Now, his future depends on identifying and stopping whoever's targeting his new friend group of uber-wealthy socialites…"

It's a compelling hook and one that helps reinvigorate the series.

Posing as a literature professor named Jonathan Moore at a London university, Joe is surprised to find he enjoys teaching, despite being surrounded by egocentric socialites. But when members of London’s wealthy elite start dropping like flies, Joe discovers there may be another murderer in his midst.

Featuring a new whodunnit format, “You” Season 4 — which just released its first trailer — finds Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) entangled with a serial killer targeting the elite in London. In Part 1 of the Netflix thriller, which releases Feb. 9, Joe (under the alias of Professor Jonathan Moore) contends with a group of “privileged douchebags” as a he struggles to piece together what this “Eat the Rich Killer” wants from him.

The trailer also features a glimpse at a confrontation between the deranged stalker and last season’s love interest, Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), who narrowly managed to escape Joe’s serial killing tendencies. In the two-minute clip, which you can view above, Joe attempts a path at redemption in order to prove to her that he’s a good person.

Netflix has revealed the first half of the upcoming season will now debut on Thursday, February 9.

Part 2 follows one month later, on Thursday, March 9.

In addition, the streamer as part of its annual Tudum global fan event unveiled a teaser trailer revealing Joe’s new persona.

Netflix gifted fans of You with some big news during its Tudum Global Fan event on Saturday.

The streaming service revealed that You Season 4 will get underway on February 10, 2023.

But there's a catch -- and a pretty big one at that.

The series will be adopting the split-season strategy.

The fourth season's second half will hit the air on March 10, 2023.

Netflix's Stranger Things adopted the split-season strategy with Stranger Things Season 4, and the excitement was off the charts.

Netflix also unveiled a teaser trailer during Tudum that introduces viewers to Professor Joe.

That's right.

Season 4 of Netflix’s “You” officially has a release date. The first part will debut on Feb. 10 and Part 2 will be available on March 10, the streaming service announced on Saturday as part of their Tudum presentation.

The series, led by Penn Badgley, added more than a dozen new additions to the cast for the upcoming season. Tati Gabrielle will return, with Charlotte Ritchie, Lukas Gage, Tilly Keeper, Amy Leigh Hickman and Ed Speleers joining as series regulars. Niccy Lin, Aidan Cheng, Stephen Hagan, Ben Wiggins, Eve Austin, Ozioma Whenu, Dario Coates, Sean Pertwee, Brad Alexander, Alison Pargeter and Adam James will all have recurring roles.

Ritchie will seemingly be Joe’s (Badgley) new leading lady, Kate, described as someone incredibly smart but also suspicious and completely closed off to those who aren’t her friends. According to Netflix, Kate is always “the adult in the room,” but also embraces the “icy bitch” moniker.

Penn Badgley revealed on the latest episode of his “Podcrushed” podcast that he’s been given a director’s note every time he’s filmed a masturbation scene for “You” to make the scene “less creepy.” The note always leaves the actor baffled considering he stars on the series as a serial killer. “You” started its run on Lifetime before it exploded in popularity with its Season 2 debut on Netflix.

“Outlander” Season 5 alum Ed Speleers is among the actors who’ve joined the cast of “You” for Season 4 in a series regular role, Netflix announced Friday.

Speleers, also well-known for his work in “Downton Abbey” and “Eragon,” will play Rhys.

According to a character description from Netflix: “Dry, irreverent Rhys is an author whose memoir garnered him acclaim and pressure to launch a political career. Born into poverty, Rhys lived a traumatic early life before he came into money, going to Oxford and making all the right friends. Now, he moves easily in any social circle, while also seeing through those around him. He doesn’t have much time for partying, though he enjoys staying in touch with his eccentric circle of friends. After all, they were there for him in his troubled youth.”

Production is under way in London on the new season, which also has cast eleven actors in recurring roles.
