Serena Kerrigan

Peacock launched an accelerator for creators. Now it’s picking up their scripted shows.
Image
Peacock is rolling out a slate of scripted originals, with a twist: The shows are all led by creators who have significant followings on platforms like TikTok.

The creators in question are Charlie Curtis-Beard, Katie Florence, Serena Kerrigan, and Daren Vongirdner. They developed their respective Peacock originals as part of NBCUniversal‘s Creator Accelerator Program, a year-long initiative that launched last year with 11 participating TikTokers.

As part of that process, the program participants earned development deals with NBCUniversal and took advantage of guidance from development mentors. Now, four of the projects greenlit in that fashion are set to premiere on May 19 as part of an effort dubbed the Peacock Emerging Artist Series.

Curtis-Beard’s contribution to that slate is The Warehouse Phase, in which he stars as a musician who starts making content. Florence is the topliner for The Kouncil, a breakup story. Kerrigan is putting her spin on the...

Peacock to Launch Series From Four Emerging Artists
Image
Peacock has announced four series from new emerging artists. The concepts were developed and executed by next-gen creators – Charlie Curtis-Beard, Katie Florence, Serena Kerrigan, and Daren Vongirdner – successful self-made social media stars with passionate followings and thriving businesses.

Launching on Monday, May 19, audiences will be able to tune into all episodes of each scripted original, including The Warehouse Phase, The Kouncil, Older Hotter Wiser, and People Like Me.

Curtis-Beard, Florence, Kerrigan, and Vongirdner collaborated with NBCUniversal through the media and entertainment company’s Creator Accelerator Program, an industry-first initiative that identifies and develops the next generation of premium content creators.

Each storyteller elevated their craft through enriching content development work by learning network-level production in bringing their series to life with accomplished production companies, Telemundo Studios, and Tandem Pictures, while tapping into NBCUniversal executives, talent, mentorship, and training resources.

Additionally, brand sponsors BetterHelp and the US Army join this moment...

Peacock’s Next Four Scripted Shows Are From Digital Creators (Exclusive)
Image
Peacock will debut four new original series later this month, with a twist: The shows were all developed by social-first video creators.

The streaming platform will debut the four scripted shows under the Peacock Emerging Artist Series banner on May 19, with all episodes available at launch.

The shows are The Warehouse Phase (from creator Charlie Curtis-Beard), The Kouncil (from creator Katie Florence), Older Hotter Wiser (from creator Serena Kerrigan ), and People Like Me (from creator Daren Vongirdner).

Older Hotter Wiser’s Peacock pickup was first reported by Deadline.

All four creators participated in NBCUniversal’s Creator Accelerator Program, and subsequently secured development deals with the company.

NBCUniversal is hoping that the program will help develop new talent that could go on to develop further programming for the company, but also introduce the audience that these creators have already built on platforms like Instagram and TikTok to the streaming platform, with a longer-form offering.
