“I’m still umm-ing, how annoying for you!” he says, but interviewing Luke Newberry isn’t annoying in the least. He’s at pains to give proper answers to questions, literally so judging by some of the noises he makes in our half-hour chat. Some goofy banter and catchy folk ditties are the best thing about this hammy, predictable British comedy

This only fitfully amusing but affable British comedy features Mark Chavez and Shenoah Allen as two American brothers, both struggling actors, who inherit a sprawling country estate from their grandfather (voiced by Geoffrey Palmer, who narrates from beyond the grave). However, their plans to sell up and settle their debts hit a snag when they find a comely housekeeper (the eminently likable Emily Bevan) and her aged grandmother (Sara Kestelman, giving it full-on Little Edie realness with a turban and disdainful side glances) squatting in the property. Writer-director James Kibbey and the cast occasionally lob in a bit of well-timed goofy banter but the plotting is too predictable and the performances too hammy and broad, especially the gurning, grating Allen. Jaunty, silly folk ditties brighten up the soundtrack, especially a last daft tune...

Digital Spy spoke to Emily Bevan, who plays Salit, about what to expect - including some epic water works!

What can you reveal about your character in The Ark?

"The character I play is Salit - who is married to Noah's eldest son, Shem (Michael Fox). They live alongside the rest of the family in a big house - with thin walls, so she's pretty frustrated by the lack of privacy. She's desperate for her and Shem to build their own house and start a family."

People might think they know this story - so why should they tune in?

"Because they haven't seen the Tony Jordan version!

"The Casual Vacancy," the mini-series based on J.K. Rowling's adult mystery, will land Stateside on HBO in April. The three-part show will premiere on BBC One on February 15.

In the meantime, there's a little teaser trailer to introduce us to the quaint British town of Pagford. It all looks veddy proper and jolly indeed, but naturally there are all sorts of grown-up, non-wizard-y secrets lurking just below the surface. However, it probably doesn't help that Dumbledore is part of the ensemble cast. Just saying. It also stars Rory Kinnear, Emily Bevan, Julia McKenzie, Keeley Hawes, Monica Dolan, and Abigail Lawrie. The adaptation was written by Sarah Phelps, who also penned scripts for "Great Expectations," "Camelot," and "EastEnders."

"The Casual Vacancy" was J.K. Rowling's first novel outside of the "Harry Potter" series. Her second, "The Cuckoo's Calling," was released under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, although soon enough the author's real identity was revealed.

In The Flesh was a rare creature that will be sorely missed. Now that it’s been cancelled, will Amazon or Netflix come to its rescue?

In December, BBC Three announced a plan to leave behind genre labels when it moves online. Goodbye to comedy, drama and documentary; hello to shows that “make you laugh” and shows that “make you think”.

Weeks later, the channel announced the cancellation of original supernatural drama In The Flesh, a series that proved not only too expensive to continue, but evidently too complex. By making its audience empathise, critique, scrutinise and self-reflect on top of laughing and thinking, it seems that In The Flesh aimed too high.

Dominic Mitchell should have all his toys taken away for the cruel trick of starting joyful Amy’s heart beating just seconds before it was stabbed into a bloody mess. Move over Joss Whedon, there’s a new writer here to try on your ‘killing fan favourites and causing untold grief’ crown. If you haven't seen "In the Flesh" (the second season premieres Sat. March 10 at 10:00 p.m. Et), the good news is that you can still catch up. The first season is just three episodes, currently available for streaming on the BBC America website, and fans of zombie movies will catch on quickly. What might come as a surprise to horror buffs is that this show takes the idea of zombies a step further -- oh, don't say zombies, by the way. The expanded six-episode new season of "In the Flesh" picks up nine months after the events of Season 1, and the war to protect the town from the Undead, known as Partially Deceased Syndrome (Pds) sufferers, has ceased.

Luke Newberry (The Legend of Hercules) reprises his role as Kieren Walker and leads the cast together with Emily Bevan ("The Thick of It") as Amy Driver, Harriet Cains ("Doctors") as Jem Walker, Stephen Thompson ("Doctors") as Philip Wilson, Kenneth Cranham (Maleficent) as Vicar Oddie, Kevin Sutton ("Shameless") as Gary, Steve Cooper as Steve Walker, Marie Critchley as Sue Walker, Sandra Hugget as Shirley Wilson, Gerard Thompson as Dean, and Gillian Waugh as Pearl Pinder.

David Threlfall, Nico Mirallegro and Ashley Walters have been confirmed for new BBC drama The Ark.

The one-off drama, from the makers of Death in Paradise, is a retelling of the biblical story of Noah and The Ark.

The Not Like That, Like This actor will star as Noah, while Joanne Whalley (The Borgias, Jamaica Inn) will take the role of his wife Emmie.

Commenting on his role, Threlfall said: "The story jumped off the page at me from the first reading. It's not just a family saga but the first family saga.

"It takes its inspiration from many faiths and speaks of values which should be shared across all cultures. It was something I immediately wanted to be part of."

Emily Bevan (In The Flesh), Hannah John-Kamen (The Hour, Death in Paradise) and Georgina Campbell (One Night) have also been cast in the drama, which has been written by Hustle's Tony Jordan.

The BBC zombie series, In The Flesh, continues in May and we have a look at new footage from the upcoming episodes. Un-zombie drama In The Flesh arrived on BBC Three last year fully-formed, having sprung Athena-like from the head of creator Dominic Mitchell. Similar to a carved miniature or a Swiss Army Knife, its containment - a complete story of grief, prejudice and acceptance folded neatly into three hour-long episodes - was part of the attraction.

Doubling the length and broadening the scope for series two then, was a dangerous prospect. A second run of In The Flesh risked being a bloated, diluted version of the first, a drama that had made its point, outstayed its welcome, and was hanging around only to weaken the good work of its predecessor.

Meeting Kieren Walker and his Roarton neighbours last winter was a highlight not just of the year's exemplary TV drama, but of BBC Three's entire history. Scoff all you like at the digital channel's sun, sex and voyeurism programming, but from the home of the wonderful Being Human and The Fades, that's no damning with faint prase.

The cast, writing, and direction of BBC Three's In the Flesh cohered into that wonderful thing, a satisfying, moving drama with a headful of ideas and a sense of humour to boot.

Luckily, the powers that be agreed with us, and commissioned a double-length second series forthwith. That series is currently filming in the North West of England, and welcomes back the talents of Luke Newberry (Kieren), Emily Bevan...

The BBC Three zombie drama's next run will see Scanlan play Simon, a charismatic disciple of the Undead Prophet.

In six new episodes, In The Flesh will follow Pds sufferer Kieren (Luke Newberry) as he attempts to fund an escape from his hostile hometown of Roarton.

In just one week BBC America kicks off its three-night "In the Flesh" zombie event, and we have a nearly three-minute long sneak peek of Episode 1 along with another promo that introduces us to Rick.

When BBC America first announced it would be airing the UK mini-series "In the Flesh," the premiere date was in August, but they must have realized we Yanks need our zombies sooner than that as it has now been moved up to June 6th.

BBC America’s co-production "In the Flesh" tells a very human story... about the undead. The mini-series springs to life with a special broadcast event, premiering over three consecutive nights.

Zombie teenager Kieren Walker isn’t comfortable in his ‘undead’ state. He didn’t want to come back - he wanted to be dead. After his suicide four years ago, his friends and family thought they’d never see him again. But then, shortly after his funeral, thousands rose from the dead. After months of rehabilitation and medication, the zombies, now known as Pds (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferers, are gradually being returned to their homes.

It sounds like "In the Flesh" will be returning to BBC Three after all; in this featurette posted after the show's finale aired, writer Dominic Mitchell said about some of the unresolved plot lines, "We'll get to it... we'll get to it. I swear."

Does that mean a second season is on its way? We'll keep our eyes and ears open and let you know as soon as we get confirmation. And we'll stay on the lookout for news of when the first season's three episodes might run on BBC America as well.

Midway through the final part of In the Flesh, it was all going so well. Kieren had cathartically confessed to the parents of his last victim, Amy was off to seek her undead fortune (admittedly a departure more bitter than sweet after she’d been used and abused by the supposedly non-monstrous men of Roarton), and the Walker siblings were pals again. You’d have been wet behind the ears to drop your guard at that point though, as there was anguish aplenty in store.

We’d learnt what In the Flesh was capable of in the brutal last ten minutes of episode one, so this conclusion shouldn’t have come as the surprise it did. Killing off the...

Episode 3 Synopsis (airs Sunday 31 March):

After visiting the supermarket where he used to hunt with Amy, Kieren remembers that Jem once spared his life. Together, brother and sister confront the demons in their pasts and visit Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster. Kieren feels momentarily better but then has to say goodbye to Amy, who is leaving Roarton in search of The Prophet.

Pds: Partially Deceased Syndrome.  It's apparently a problem in the upcoming BBC Three zombie series In the Flesh and, in a new promo for the show, Luke Newberry (Kieran Walker) and Emily Bevan (Amy Dyer) reveal if they would hide away or reveal themselves if they had Partially Deceased Syndrome.

The series is set four years after the Rising when the government starts to rehabilitate the Undead back into the society including teenager Kieren Walker, who returns home to his small Lancashire village to face a hostile reception as well as his own demons.

In The Flesh’s gripping story continues this week as Kieren continues to adapt to the post warzone world created by the mass zombie uprising. As the prejudice and attacks continue, he struggles to find his place in a new world. That is when he comes across Amy, a fellow Pds human, and together they strike a bond and a connection. Meanwhile, Bill Macy has to deal with the return of his son Rick, who he himself is Pds, which clashes with his beliefs as well as various beliefs of the neighbourhood.

Two interesting arcs take a new turn in this episode. The first is the continuation of Kieren’s story. Him & Amy have quite an interesting relationship. Amy is the type of character that’s very in your face, as well as bold and not afraid of the world around her despite what she is.

Following a rather frantic first episode, this week's instalment of BBC Three's new drama In The Flesh takes on a rather more sedate pace - with his world established, writer Dominic Mitchell has a little breathing room to explore issues that other shows wouldn't and, to directly quote director Jonny Campbell, "ask questions that other dramas can't".

Pushed, prodded and poked throughout episode one, our protagonist Kieran Walker (Luke Newberry) was something of a bemused bystander last week, provoked by the actions of others. Here, he's pleasingly far more proactive - striking out and standing up for himself, confronting his sister Jem (Harriet Cains), fellow returnee Rick and others.

Inspiring Kieran further is Amy Dyer (Emily Bevan) - a Pds sufferer who's taken to undead 'life' rather better than he's managed, embracing the possibilities that being undead offers - immortality, for instance.

This week’s In the Flesh staged act two of Kieren Walker’s fraught homecoming by introducing a pair of new characters, a conflicted romance, and a redemptive mission. It was the episode in which the narrative gears proper began to turn, and In the Flesh demonstrated whether or not it had the mettle to outlive its three-part lifespan. Yes, is the answer to that, though it won’t necessarily be the supernatural premise that sees it through.

The zombie apocalypse, just like anything else, comes with its own set of monster-sized headaches. Good thing for us that BBC Three has released a set of videos to help us get through this most tumultuous of times.
