Anjum Fakih talks about quitting 'Kundali Bhagya', calls it 'most difficult decision'
Image
Actress Anjum Fakih, who rose to fame after essaying the role of Srishti in the television serial ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and was a part of it since its inception, has quit the show after six years. Anjum revealed the reason behind quitting ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and how special place the show holds in her life.

She said: “Kundali Bhagya and Shrishti have shaped me into who I am today. It has been an incredible chapter of my life, forging lasting friendships and imparting valuable lessons. The memories we created as a family are precious and extremely close to my heart. Playing Shrishti was a transformative experience, and I feel immensely proud when addressed as Shrishti rather than Anjum.

“‘Kundali Bhagya’ not only facilitated significant growth as an artiste but also connected me with an incredible fan base that supported me throughout. It served as a foundational experience, shaping me as an actor...

Wpl 2023: On paper, Mumbai look more stronger than Gujarat, says Anjum Chopra
Image
Australia opener Beth Mooney is leading Gujarat, while India captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be captaining Mumbai. "I find Mumbai Indians stronger on paper and Gujarat got a jolt in Deandra Dottin being ruled out of tournament, with Australia’s Kim Garth coming in as a replacement."

"I joked around with my fellow commentator, England pacer Kate Cross, that keep your hands ready, you could get a call for as a replacement. I guess the franchise could be knowing that Dottin may not be fit. On paper, Mumbai look more stronger than Gujarat. But one side has Harmanpreet Kaur and other has Beth Mooney. It should be great fun," said Anjum, the Wpl Expert for Sports18 and JioCinema, in a select virtual roundtable on Saturday.

Asked on who could be the winner of the inaugural edition of the Wpl, Anjum remarked, "I did a review and I thought that Rcb, Mi look very balanced on paper.

Wpl 2023: Very good changes and improvements will come, so as more of respect, says Anjum Chopra
Image
"Yesterday, when I reached the hotel from airport, I saw big boards with ‘Aali Re’ written alongside photographs of Harmanpreet Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, and Yastika Bhatia (of Mumbai Indians). This is the first change as I had never seen hoardings of women cricketers in India. I have seen outside, but not in India before. Hoardings are there in Mumbai and advertising looks beautiful in the whole stretch, especially when it is night," Anjum said.

"When one will go through that stretch, the eyes will immediately recognise the players in the hoarding. There is an awareness being created and whether 35,000 or 40,000 come in the stadium, there’s an expectation that following of women’s cricket will multiply around them to increase the following."

"When following increases, then the respect also increases and when respect word comes in between, then one can think about the societal change which can definitely come in.

Women's Ipl will help bridge the gap between international and domestic cricket: Harmanpreet Kaur
Image
New Delhi, Dec 5 (Ians) India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur feels the upcoming Women’s Ipl, scheduled to begin in March next year, will be a major boost for women’s cricket in India, adding that the tournament will help bridge the gap between international and domestic cricket.

“The Ipl is a huge step forward for women’s cricket because, before this, we have witnessed the Australia Board, England Board, they have looked after the Wbbl and The Hundred. I think we as athletes have discussed it as well, that there’s a big gap between domestic and international cricket which some cricketers were not able to match, because even if you play well in domestic cricket and then suddenly play international games, you’re not able to understand what to do and how to do it.”

“And someone like me, I was lucky you know, I had Jhulan (Goswami) di, Anjum...

Ind v Nz, 2nd Odi: Shubman Gill is a quality player, he's going to be around for a long time, says Ravi Shastri
Image
Hamilton, Nov 27 (Ians) Former India head coach Ravi Shastri believes that young opener Shubman Gill is a quality cricketer who will be around for a long time in the international cricket arena.

Shastri’s comments come after Gill sparkled in the 12.5 overs of play in the second Odi at Hamilton, which was abandoned due to rain. Gill drove elegantly past mid-on twice and cut Tim Southee fiercely through cover before the first spell of rain stopped play for nearly three-and-a-half hours.

After the match became 29 overs a side affair, Gill continued to shine in his timing and placement of shots, pulling Henry powerfully over deep backward square leg for six and was glorious in lofting inside-out off Michael Bracewell over extra cover for four to be 45 not out off 42 deliveries.

“His emphasis today was in the timing of the ball. Sometimes when you are out of your depth, you want...

Inclusion of Hemalatha, Kiran has given team management new options for England series (Ians Column: Left-Hand View)
Image
The Indian women begin their tour of England with a 3-match T20I series followed by 3-match Odi series. The success in the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games for India in Birmingham would have served as a timely outing prior to the series. A silver medal, a win over the home team, England, and a couple of strong outings against Australia have given a good measure of the team’s pathway.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian captain, was visibly unhappy at the outcome of the Cwg final. She felt the team lacked stroke players to carry them through and finishers in the middle and lower middle-order. When one looks at the Australian women’s team — their consistency and their ability to emerge from every challenging situation repeatedly — it seems a very relatable concern.

Australian women over the years have raised their game to much higher ground. For the world to compete and win against Australia,...
