A sci-fi-infused action spectacle that’s toplined by Milla Jovovich and adapted from a video game sits as the most watched genre picture on the Hulu platform today. Surprisingly, I’m not talking about Resident Evil. No, I’m speaking of a lesser-known effort from 2020 called Monster Hunter.

Jovovich’s longtime husband Paul W.S. Anderson is at the helm of this under-seen effort. He also wrote the script. Anderson adapted the screenplay from Kaname Fujioka’s video game series.

From my vantage point, it seems Capcom hoped to recapture the success of the Resident Evil franchise by adapting another popular genre game for the screen with Jovovich in the lead and Anderson at the helm. Like with Resident Evil, Jovovich plays a character written for the film who doesn’t exist within the video game franchise.

Monster Hunter is a film on Hulu that has yet to find its audience.

Released in 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road was co-written, co-produced, and directed by George Miller, who started the Mad Max franchise with Mel Gibson way back in 1979. Hardy takes over from Gibson as the post-apocalyptic survivor and road warrior "Mad Max" Rockatansky, joining forces with Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, whose character proved to be so popular that she as given her own prequel spin-off just this year.

Furiosa's streaming release could boost its success and reshape its reputation after a lukewarm box office performance. Despite financial challenges, Furiosa earned positive reviews and is expected to gain a loyal following like Fury Road. The future of the Mad Max franchise remains uncertain post-Furiosa, though George Miller has another sequel titled The Wasteland in development.

George Miller, the director of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is revisiting the on-set drama between Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in his 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road.

In a new interview, Miller recalled the feud between the stars during the film’s production, which resulted from Hardy’s tardiness.

“They were just two very different performers,” Miller told The Telegraph. “Tom has a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it, and whatever was going on with him at the time, he had to be coaxed out of his trailer. Whereas Charlize was incredibly disciplined – a dancer by training, which told in the precision of her performance – and always the first one on set.”

Miller noted that things on the set gradually got better, adding, “I’m an optimist, so I saw their behavior as mirroring their characters, where they had to learn to cooperate in order to ensure mutual survival.

A “Harley Quinn” Valentine’s Day special is coming to HBO Max.

Titled “Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special,” the new installment of the popular adult animated series will debut on HBO Max in February 2023.

Per the official logline, “The special will feature Harley and Ivy celebrating their very first Valentine’s Day together, while also revealing how the rest of the ragtag crew spends the gushiest, mushiest, most romantic day of the year.”

“Harley Quinn” recently concluded its third season, with HBO Max commissioning a fourth season in August. It was one of the DC projects that survived the Warner Bros.-Discovery merger, in which a number of planned DC related films and shows were scrapped.

The Australian murder mystery series “Troppo” will premiere on Amazon Freevee May 20, as one of the first originals to launch on the newly renamed streaming platform.

Based on the novel “Crimson Lake” by Cameron Fox, “Troppo” stars Thomas Jane as Ted Conkaffey, an ex-cop accused of a crime that he didn’t commit. New Delhi, March 4 (Ians) Filmmaker Paul Ws Anderson and his wife, Hollywood star Milla Jovovich, have collaborated several times on his films, notably the "Resident Evil" franchise, but it was their latest release "Monster Hunter" that tested the actress's patience.

She told him "this is the worst thing" he had ever done to her, claimed Anderson.

"Her commitment is always surprising. She always really gives her all to every movie she makes and this movie was a harder movie to make from the others we have done. Just because of the technical challenges that it threw up.I wanted to shoot in real landscapes and the landscapes I chose were in the middle of nowhere!" he recalled, speaking to Ians.

The film is their fifth collaboration.

Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios Company, has acquired North American rights to Ali Askari’s romantic thriller As Long As We Both Shall Live. The Resident Evil movie series is getting rebooted with an all-new story, but original star Milla Jovovich is still open for one day returning to the franchise. Starting in 2002, Jovovich played Alice in the Resident Evil movies, which was written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. An original character not featured in the video games, Alice would return for six sequels with Jovovich consistently playing the role, culminating in 2017's Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

Alice's story might be over, but we may not have seen the last of Milla Jovovich in the franchise. Speaking with ComicBook.com about her role as Alice and the future of the franchise, Jovovich admits that she'd be up for getting involved in Resident Evil again at some point in the future if the opportunity ever comes along. Congratulations. You’ve almost endured the hellscape that is 2020. As we look towards the final month of the year, things are looking brighter on the cinema side. Unfortunately, not the actual cinemas themselves as Covid rates continue to rise, but the December lineup that is mostly rolling out digitally is remarkably strong.
