According to a report by Deadline, Cena and Kevin Hart are all set to star in an action comedy titled ‘The Leading Man’. Writers Jon and Erich Hoeber have pitched the idea to Netflix, which has supposedly impressed the streaming giant.

There is no denying that Cena and comedy go together like peanut butter and jelly. Add Hart to the mix and you’ve got yourself the perfect formula for a big hit. Just ask Dwayne Johnson. Coyote vs. Acme is officially back from the dead, and it’s heading to theaters around the world on August 28, 2026. The announcement came during a lively panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where cast and crew celebrated the movie’s surprising return.

The hybrid live-action and animation film, originally made by Warner Bros., was shelved in 2023 as part of a tax write-off move. It seemed like the movie would never see the light of day. But that changed when Ketchup Entertainment stepped in and bought the worldwide rights for around $50 million.

The company had also rescued another abandoned Looney Tunes film, The Day the Earth Blew Up, which ended up making over $15 million worldwide.

Paul Scheer, who hosted the Comic-Con panel, poked fun at the movie’s rocky journey. “This movie wasn’t supposed to come out,” he said. “I heard Warner Bros wouldn’t release the film — I’ve never heard of Warner Bros!

Everyone thought it was dead. It’s been a couple of years since the world learned that Warner Bros. scrapped the “Coyote Vs. Acme” film after rave reviews from those who got to see the screening.

The corporation did this to claim a $30 million tax write-off, and fans were salty.

“Coyote vs. Acme” has been saved from the bin, and the movie will release to theaters on August 28, 2026, thanks to Ketchup Entertainment, which acquired the rights in March 2024.

After a very bumpy road, Coyote vs. Acme’s team took to San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate the movie finally heading to the big screen and announce its forthcoming release date.

Warner Bros. releases director Simon McQuoid’s sequel movie in theaters Oct. 24. Hailing from New Line and based on the popular video game franchise that dates back to the 1990s, the film stars Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Mortal Kombat II centers on the group of ragtag fighters who must defend Earth from the evil forces of Outworld. It follows 2021’s Mortal Kombat, which rebooted the film franchise that kicked off with the original 1995 movie.

Mortal Kombat II marks the arrival of Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage into the rebooted movie franchise, and the character takes center stage in this first official trailer. The new trailer also makes it clear that the sequel will actually depict the titular tournament this time around, and it looks much more like a video game come to life than the first movie did back in 2021.

That being said, I’m still not entirely sold on the approach of this particular big screen universe.
