“I Admire That Dude”: Former ‘Jack Reacher’ Star Discusses Alan Ritchson’s Next Movie
Image
He’s already danced in his undies to Stevie Wright in a shark-obsessed Aussie horror flick, but Jai Courtney is just as pumped to see someone else take the lead—especially if that someone is Alan Ritchson. The Dangerous Animals actor, who once went toe-to-toe with Tom Cruise in 2012’s Jack Reacher, spoke with Forbes about War Machine, the upcoming sci-fi action film he stars in alongside Ritchson. And despite missing out on the lead role in Prime Video’s hit Reacher series, Courtney says there are no hard feelings—just admiration.

Instead, Ritchson stepped into the role and quickly became an idol in the action genre, fully becoming the towering, take-no-prisoners human fridge from Lee Child’s books with brute strength and dry wit. The role launched him into the action spotlight, and Courtney couldn’t be more impressed.

“Alan’s great in that, and he’s great in War Machine.

"An Absolute Savage": 'War Machine's Jai Courtney Praises 'Reacher's Alan Ritchson Ahead of Huge Sci-Fi Thriller's Release [Exclusive]
Image
The Reacher-powered War Machine hype just got another massive boost. While promoting his new thriller Dangerous Animals, Jai Courtney spoke with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, who couldn’t resist asking about War Machine, the upcoming sci-fi action epic from director Patrick Hughes and star Alan Ritchson. The film, currently in post-production, is already being touted by Ritchson as Netflix’s “biggest movie ever,” and according to Courtney, the buzz is very real. He told Collider: “I think that film is going to blow people away. It’s big. It’s a high concept. Alan [Ritchson]’s an absolute savage.”

That’s high praise, especially considering the project’s scale. War Machine follows the final class of an elite special forces boot camp who are forced into a deadly confrontation with a mysterious, possibly extraterrestrial threat. The cast includes Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Esai Morales, and Keiynan Lonsdale, among others, with Courtney playing one of the recruits.

The CW’s ‘Flash’ Series Failed This Character
Image
Having run for nine seasons, The Flash lasted nearly a decade on the CW and officially closed out the Arrowverse in 2023. In all that time, plenty of members of Team Flash came and went, with the series shifting significantly from its inaugural seasons (and original cast members) by the very end. But in all that time, no character was so poorly misused and under-utilized as Keiynan Lonsdale's Wally West. Though many fans were thrilled to see the character make his way into live action, he turned out to be a pale imitation of the comic book version of the Fastest Man Alive.

Blue Beetle Nails a Vital Part of DC Comics That Other Movies Didn’t
Image
This Blue Beetle article contains spoilers.

At the start of Blue Beetle’s second act, protagonist Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) asks an important question: “Who the hell was Blue Beetle?”

A lot of viewers wondered the same thing when the Warner Bros. movie came to theaters earlier this year and they’ll likely be asking it again now that the movie is streaming on Max. People don’t ask that same question of Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but not because Blue Beetle is at best a C-lister in the DC Comics bullpen. Rather it’s because the man behind the Blue Beetle mask has changed several times since Charles Nicholas Wojtkoski debuted the character in 1939.

The big-screen adaptation introduces Blue Beetle as Jaime Reyes, who is a recent college grad forced to the superhero identity after receiving an alien scarab from Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine), the daughter of inventor Ted Kord,...

10 DC Movie & Show Characters Who Were Way More Important In The Comics
Image
The Dceu has a history of not giving iconic DC characters the importance they deserve. Arrow did a disservice to Black Canary by killing her in season 4. Wally West's portrayal in The Flash TV show was miniscule compared to his significance in the comics as the main version of The Flash for 23 years.

Across the DC Universe, several movies and TV shows have failed certain DC characters by relegating important heroes and villains to much smaller roles than they have in DC Comics. Most movies in the Dceu have been plagued by the universe's overall issues, and that has led to some of its movies not treating iconic DC characters with the care they deserve. While the Dceu has contributed to the negative trend where some DC heroes and villains are less important in live-action than they were in the comics, that issue is not at all reserved only...

Why Wally West Left The Flash After Season 4
Image
Wally West, played by Keiynan Lonsdale, was a beloved character on The Flash but left the show after just two seasons, leaving fans questioning why. Lonsdale's departure from The Flash was a narrative decision, with his character choosing to do soul-searching and eventually joining the Legends of Tomorrow. Lonsdale left the Arrowverse to pursue new opportunities in his career but returned as a special guest star in various seasons, leaving a lasting legacy on The Flash.

The Flash's Wally West was among the most beloved characters introduced to the DC show, but his tenure was fleeting, leaving the DC show after the Flash season 4 with just two seasons total under his belt. Wally West was first introduced in Season 3 as a result of the Flashpoint, an event that saw the show's star, Barry Allen, create an alternate timeline where Kid Flash watched over Central City. After losing his super-speed post-Flashpoint,...

The Flash Makes It Clear That Wally West Should Be the Dcu's Flash

Cbr supports the hard work of creators and industry professionals to create movies fans all know and love, but it's important to remember the ongoing controversy with Ezra Miller. You can find Cbr's continuing coverage of Miller here.

The following contains spoilers for The Flash, in theaters now.

With The Flash floundering at the box office, it may be a while before fans see another Scarlet Speedster on the big screen. However, when it happens, instead of introducing yet another Barry Allen, James Gunn and Peter Safran should consider having another hero don the red and yellow suit. In fact, Wally West is the perfect character to take the opportunity and run with it.

At the end of The Flash movie, Barry meets another Bruce Wayne. George Clooney reprises his role in a short cameo, replacing Ben Affleck. And as far as fans know, this was the only significant change to Barry's timeline.

Wally West Didn't Need to Become 'The Flash' on The CW Series
Image
The following contains spoilers for Season 9 of The Flash.

The sun set on the Arrowverse with The Flash's series finale, which brought many of its characters' stories to a close. However, with Barry's creation of three new speedsters, it's only the end of the adventures audiences get to see. Some fans are disappointed that Wally West didn't shed the "Kid" from his moniker to become the Flash. While such a development would be a nod to the comics, it wasn't what Wally's story needed.

The return of Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West for an episode in Season 9 wasn't just a victory lap for the character and actor. Rather, the show examined Wally's latent anger at Barry and the West family. Still, many fans grew up in the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths era of comics where Wally West was the Flash and Barry Allen was gone. Also, in fairness to Wally's fans,...

It was too difficult for Carlos Valdes to watch The Flash episodes again following his departure.

The former Cisco Ramon/Vibe actor opened up about leaving The Flash with Entertainment Weekly, including what he felt after moving past that stage in his acting career. "Grief comes and goes in waves, and it really was a kind of grief leaving The Flash, especially because it was seven or eight years of my life," Valdes recognized, adding, "Even though I was resolute in my decision and that maintained itself through to today, I really did feel like I was making the right decision, and I never wavered from that, but I still obviously felt little windows of nostalgia and sentimentality just missing the process and missing those people."

10 Fastest Speedsters In DC Movies & TV Shows
Image
Many swift and powerful speedsters have been adapted in DC Universe movies and TV shows. In DC Comics lore, Central City forensic scientist Barry Allen gains the power of super-speed after being soaked by chemicals that had been struck by lightning. This also allows Barry to tap into the Speed Force, which not only fuels his super-speed, but also empowers him with other abilities like time and multiverse travel. Barry uses his super-speed to become The Flash, but he is far from the only speedster in existence.

Barry's adventures have been adapted to both movies and television, with John Wesley Shipp, Grant Gustin, and Ezra Miller, and more portraying the Scarlet Speedster. Additionally, other heroic and villainous speedsters have also appeared on the big and small screens. Here are the 10 fastest speedsters seen in DC movies and TV shows.

The Flash: Stephen Amell’s Arrow Return and the Beginning of the End for the Series
Image
This article contains The Flash spoilers.

The Flash Season 9 Episode 9

The end is truly nigh. After a handful of more standalone-style “interlude” episodes, The Flash enters its endgame with an hour that brings back old favorites and takes big narrative swings, restoring the multiverse and reminding Barry Allen of why he became a hero in the first place.

Any The Flash episode that features the long-awaited return of Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, as well as guest appearances from Arrow stars Stephen Amell and David Ramsey, is basically guaranteed to be a must-watch, but “It’s My Party And I’ll Die If I Want To” is a surprisingly emotional installment on top of that, one that offers several characters some much-needed closure and a chance to rededicate themselves to fighting the good fight.

“Honestly, I’m so thrilled that this was the episode I got to direct,” says Danielle Panabaker,...

The Flash Reunites With Green Arrow and More Heroes in Final Arrowverse Crossover Trailer
Stephen Amell
Are you ready for the last-ever Arrowverse team-up?

The CW has dropped a trailer for The Flash Season 9 Episode 9, which brings several fan favorites back to Central City one last time.

The highly-anticipated episode brings Stephen Amell back into the mix as Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow.

It's a big deal because Oliver died at the end of Arrow.

So, how is all of this possible, you ask?

The multiverse remains a big problem for the characters on The Flash Season 9, so we're probably seeing another Earth's iteration of Oliver.

Then again, this universe tends to throw big curveballs at viewers, so we should probably wait until the episode airs on April 26 to speculate.

The special episode also includes David Ramsey, Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork).

"As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and...
