Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the movies, TV shows, and live sports that will be available on the Max (soon to be called HBO Max) streaming service in July. The Max July 2025 lineup includes the feature films Sinners, A24’s On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, Opus, and Death of a Unicorn, and Utopia’s I Love You Forever.

The schedule includes the HBO Original documentaries Billy Joel: And So It Goes and Dear Ms.: A Revolution in Print, as well as the HBO Original series Rage. You can also catch Shark Week beginning on July 20.

After a seven-way bidding war, A24 has landed the crime drama Trigger Point. The upcoming series will be directed and executive produced by Jeremy Saulnier, who wowed audiences last year with his 2024 action thriller Rebel Ridge.

According to Deadline, plot details are being kept under wraps for Trigger Point, although sources state that the project will be a crime drama series. The spec script was written by Harrison Query, whose credits include the upcoming Paramount+ miniseries Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey and the action comedy Heads of State starring John Cena and Idris Elba. Trigger Point reportedly cost A24 around $500,000, making this one of this year's biggest TV spec sales so far. More than a year has gone by since we last heard anything about Opus, a mysterious horror project that’s set up at A24, and at that time, the project was assembling its cast. Just ahead of the new year, the Sundance Film Festival has unveiled its 2025 slate of programming that’s packed with exciting and buzzworthy new horror.

Today the fest announced their comprehensive slate of films selected from the fest that will take place January 23 –February 2, 2025, in person in Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Resort, along with a selection of films available online starting January 30. Packages and passes are available now at Sundance’s site.

We’ve combed through the entire slate today to find all the genre titles, with first-look images and information where available. Highlights from the upcoming slate of programming includes Alison Brie and Dave Franco‘s co-dependency horror movie Together, SpectreVision’s Celtic Faerie horror Rabbit Trap starring Dev Patel, and more.

The 4:30 Movie, the sixteenth feature film from director Kevin Smith, received a theatrical release on September 13th, and now it has been revealed that the movie is coming to 4K and Blu-ray on November 5th! Copies of the physical media versions of the movie are available for pre-order on Amazon – including an Amazon-exclusive steelbook edition where the case is designed to look like a large VHS tape and the discs look like VHS tape spools! The 4:30 Movie is the sixteenth feature film from director Kevin Smith – and while he was making the movie, he thought he was making something that would get a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. But the MPA saw it differently. When they had the chance to watch the movie earlier this year, they felt the sexual references in the dialogue were enough for the movie to earn an R rating for sexual content. Smith appealed the rating (and subscribers to That Kevin Smith Club got some interesting insight into the appeals process), but the ratings board decided to stick with the R. They confirmed today that The 4:30 Movie will remain an R rated film.

Smith has a history of being able to get his films re-rated on appeal. Clerks and Zack and Miri Make a Porno were both given Nc-17 ratings, but were re-rated R on appeal.

Showtime’s satirical thriller “The Curse,” created by stars Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie and also starring Emma Stone, has exclusively shared its Emmy submission plans with Variety.

Netflix released the trailer for its Hitchcockian teen film “Do Revenge” on Tuesday.

The logline reads, “After a clandestine run-in, Drea and Eleanor team up to go after each other’s tormentors. ‘Do Revenge’ is a subverted Hitchcock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls.”

Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s dark comedy follows two young women — Maya Hawke (“Stranger Things”) and Camila Mendes (“Riverdale”) — who unite to get back at each other’s bullies. Mendes plays queen bee Drea who wants revenge on her boyfriend for leaking her sex tape, and Hawke plays Eleanor, a transfer student who gets outed due to a rumor started by a girl who said Eleanor tried to make advances on her.
