When most people think of successful fantasy TV shows, HBO and Prime Video are probably the first two networks that come to mind. They’ve both upped their investments in the fantasy genre lately with new seasons of House of the Dragon, The Wheel of Time, The Rings of Power, and more, but Netflix isn’t that far behind.

There are some great Netflix fantasy shows to stream right now! Since Game of Thrones, Netflix has quietly assembled an epic lineup of fantasy shows. There were so many shows that could have made this list, but I wanted to choose a very small, select group of shows that fantasy fans need to watch if they haven’t yet.

So, let’s get the ranking of the best Netflix fantasy shows started with Shadow and Bone.

Director Sean Ellis has had an unusual career; if it seems like his fellow Brits, David Mackenzie and Kevin Macdonald have been genre-agnostic, Ellis has taken things a step farther. He remains best known for the deeply affecting drama Metro Manila, which is essentially a foreign-language film. But a few years ago, he tried his hand at horror. He directed the werewolf movie The Cursed, starring Kelly Reilly and Boyd Holbrook, and while the film didn't make much of a dent at the box office, it's climbing up the streaming ranks following its Netflix debut.

According to FlixPatrol, The Cursed was the sixth-most-popular film on Netflix in the United States on July 20, beating the likes of Brick, Penguins of Madagascar, Despicable Me 4, and The Old Guard 2. The highly anticipated 10-episode season sees the return of Aniston and Witherspoon, who also serve as executive producers, and introduces several big-name cast additions that promise to shake up the newsroom dynamics.

In the newly released teaser trailer, tensions are running high at Uba. “We have to question everything that we see and we hear now more than ever,” says Aniston‘s Alex Levy, who’s now the newly appointed top exec at the network. Netflix has just released the official trailer for The Sandman Season 2: Volume 2, and it’s giving fans a first look at the final chapter of Dream’s journey. The last part of the fantasy series is set to arrive on July 24, 2025, with one final bonus episode dropping on July 31.

The Sandman is a fantasy drama show based on Neil Gaiman’s popular comic book series that ran from 1989 to 1996.

The show was created for Netflix by Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg. It stars Tom Sturridge as Dream, also known as Morpheus, and features Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, and Patton Oswalt in supporting roles. The series is produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.
