Ravi Ajit Chopra

Ravi Ajit Chopra is an award-winning Producer / Director and BAFTA Film Voting Member with over 20 years of experience in filmmaking and visual storytelling. During his decade at BBC Films, Ravi produced and directed promotional and behind-the-scenes material for more than 45 major film productions, collaborating closely with acclaimed filmmakers and A-list talent including Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, and Ricky Gervais. Ravi wrote, directed, produced, edited, and supervised VFX on the high-spec sci-fi short film Cognition, leading a 300-person team and delivering over 350 VFX shots on a £510k budget, spending just £21,000 per minute - a fraction of comparable big-screen productions. The film went on to win over 400 international awards and a Guinness World Record for "Most Awards for a Live Action Fictional Short Film." Leading UK film critic Mark Kermode praised Cognition, saying, "I call it a really impressive calling card... it's a short film calling out to be a feature. A remarkable achievement." Kermode also hosted a special Q&A for Academy voters. The film was featured three times on BBC TV News in prime time, where it was announced that Cognition is being developed into a feature film. Ravi's passion for cinema began in his family's video shop, The Talash Video Centre, where he grew up immersed in films and storytelling.
