Kathy Bates is still relatively new to leading a major network juggernaut, but at IndieWire Honors, the “Matlock” star declared herself part of Hollywood’s “old guard.” Surrounded by friends and collaborators from the CBS legal drama, IndieWire’s Vanguard award winner began her acceptance speech on June 5 by reflecting on the definition of the accolade.

“I looked up the word ‘vanguard’ and it means ‘a group of people leading the way in new developments or ideas,'” said Bates. “If you use that in a sentence, it would be the experimental spirit of the modernist Vanguard. So you folks at IndieWire have provided me the perfect opportunity to thank the army of folks who continue to champion our incredible show.”

Exclusive Updated with more names, refresh for latest: Details are starting to emerge about the major round of layoffs Tuesday at Paramount Global impacting about 800 employees in the U.S.

Headed into today’s reductions, there had been chatter about Paramount TV Studios possibly downsizing. The studio, led by Nicole Clemens, has remained independent from the larger CBS Studios as the two combined support operations in November 2022 by centralizing finance, law, production and casting.

Paramount TV Studios, which absorbed Paramount+’s scripted originals team in 2022, is now streamlining its programming operations by consolidating development and current under Head of Development Jana Helman, who will continue to report to studio president Clemens.

Leaving are Cheryl Bosnak, Ptvs’s EVP and Head of Current; Kate Gill, SVP Development; Julie Katchen, VP of Current; and Devin Crossfield, Manager, Development.

Squirrel is arriving in horrific style with blood and gore everywhere. The comic's story revolves around bloodthirsty squirrels who are out for vengeance and is a parody story of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Read on to learn more!

Squirrel is a parody of the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds, wherein a flock of birds attack a sleepy Northern California community, creating chaos and death everywhere. The 1963 film starred Tippi Hedren, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, and Rod Taylor. The movie is famous for its inspirational camera angles and frames and some of the most memorable cinematic scenes from Alfred Hitchcock.

Bringing the comic book to life is the nutty gang from Legends of Heroes and Villains; Richard Zerga and Kristi Zerga are once again putting their unique art skills to work as the did with Taffy Love Is Not a Laughing Matter, another collaboration between the Comic Book Divas and Lhv Publishing.

Comic Book Divas is a comic publishing company founded and run by comic enthusiast Jeff Hughes. To help promote Comic Book Divas' upcoming publication Squirrel, a sneak peek of the special issue has been released.

Squirrel is a parody of Hitchcock's classic horror tale The Birds starring everyone's favorite rodents as the bad guys. The premise of Kodie is one that might leave you tilting your head a bit; it's the tale of a team of paranormal investigators who go to a reportedly-haunted house and find themselves caught up in a deadly curse involving a little girl named Kodie. Sugarland have settled a lawsuit with their former founding member, says The AP. Kristen Hall, who founded the band in 2002 but left three years later, had claimed she was entitled to one third of the country duo's profits because she had been pivotal in kickstarting the group's success. Hall claimed her contributions to the group included acting as manager, overseeing marketing, providing input into the band's first record and paying for expenses using her own credit card. Sugarland stars Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush have reached an out-of-court settlement with former bandmate Kristen Hall over an ongoing royalties battle. Founder member Hall quit the trio in 2006 and filed a lawsuit against the remaining members two years later, claiming she is owed $14 million for helping to launch the group.

The legal case was set to be heard in an Atlanta, Georgia federal court on Monday, November 15 - but the trio has avoided a public showdown by settling the dispute on Frida, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Despite the legal case, Sugarland as a duo has continued to thrive in the music industry. They were recently named Top Vocalist Duo of the Year at 2010 Cma Music Awards. This is their fourth consecutive win.

This cool looking Texas film is written and directed by Jeremy Sumrall and stars Maggie Conwell, Parrish Randall, Andrew Sensenig, Tim Taylor, Tyler Tackett, Keli Wolfe,Danielle Jones, Chris Warren, Jessica Jecker, Kristen Hall, Jennifer Peebles and Victoria Lane as "Abigail".

Plot:

In small towns like Possum Walk, secrets can be hard to keep. For Faith Carpenter, her secret could be downright deadly: She’s pregnant…and a virgin. Her father—a local preacher with dark, violent secrets of his own—tightens his grip on her, driving a wedge between them. Sugarland show off their comical side in a newly-premiered music video for their new single "Stuck Like Glue". Jennifer Nettles is obsessed with Ryan McPartlin who plays the leading man. She stalks and kidnaps him with the help from bandmate Kristian Bush.

" 'Stuck Like Glue' is just plain, unashamed, Sugar-fun," Nettles said. "It sticks in your brain, no pun intended. To me it feels young, hip and of course sassy! I can't wait for it to get out there so we can play it live in our show. We've been sitting on our hands to not play it live 'til it was released!"

Of why the "Chuck" actor is chosen to play her love interest in the video, Nettles told Entertainment Weekly, "He is Captain Awesome. He's the perfect guy. He's the perfect boyfriend, he's the perfect athlete. We thought that would be a funny twist. He fits the profile.

This is another project I've followed from it's beginning. Today we have the press release on Jason Heath's The Cthulhu Key: Legacy for you and somebody please tell me how to pronounce this correctly. The film has a great cast including a lot of whom I consider the "Next Gen" of horror.

Writer/director Jeremy Sumrall and producer/cinematographer Robert Luke gave Fango the first on-line look at a new trailer for their shocker Possum Walk, along with a few exclusive images from the movie; check ’em out below. “The trailer debuted prior to a screening of Josh Vargas’ Sway at Crypticon Houston this past weekend,” Luke tells us, “and received an incredible response from the crowd.”
