‘Landman’s Jacob Lofland Just Confirmed a Scary Detail About Those Season 1 Oil Rig Explosions
Image
Landman Season 2 production is firing on all cylinders right now ahead of its looming release later this year, and one of the show’s younger stars has shared an interesting detail about the first season. Starring in the role of Cooper Norris in Landman is Jacob Lofland. Cooper is Tommy’s son, who is driven to become a Landman in his own right, like his father, but he will carve out his own path to do it. Cooper watches Armando (Michael Peña) die in the first episode during an oil rig explosion, and during a recent interview with ScreenRant at the Newport Beach TV Festival, he confirmed a frightening detail about this scene (and subsequent rig explosions) that adds new context to the incidents:

"We had a week of roughneck camp to get comfortable with the wells and rigs we were working on. By the way, it’s all real.

'Landman' Season 2 Details We Already Know
Image
Following two months and 10 episodes of must-see television,Landman concluded its explosive Season 1 finale on January 12, 2025. The latest Taylor Sheridan TV creation went out with a bang, setting up a new set of circumstances for Season 2. After weeks of speculation, Paramount+ officially renewed the show for a second season on March 12, with criminally underutilized star Demi Moore having stated that filming will begin sometime in early 2025. As such, it's time to drill down to see what lies ahead in the riveting oil and gas industry drama.

While Sheridan is known for expanding his TV franchises with bigger and bolder seasons, sequels, and spinoffs, Landman's second chapter could go in several dramatic directions. However, considering what transpired in Season 1, Episode 10, "The Crumbs of Hope," it's safe to assume Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) must deal with the fallout of a dying friend, a vengeful drug cartel, and the mysterious arrival of...

Landman Season 1, Episode 10 Review: I'm Worried About Tommy After The Intense Finale Sets Up A Precarious Season 2 Future
Image
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Landman season 1, episode 10!Landman delivers a gripping ending with a massive, 80-minute season finale. "The Crumbs of Hope" closes out the Paramount+ show in a satisfying way that leaves room for future stories. But this is just the setup to the finale, which sees every single story finally come to a head.

Jerry Jones' Unexpected Cameo in Taylor Sheridan's ‘Landman,’ Explained
Image
With one episode remaining in Landman's inaugural season, all eyes turn to see how Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) and Cami (Demi Moore) will handle the inevitable cartel confrontation when the finale airs on January 12, 2025. Of course, one episode prior, "WolfCamp," featured a wildly unexpected cameo appearance from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, a master media manipulator who understands how to control a public narrative.

Then again, on closer inspection, Jones' cameo is more pertinent to Landman's themes than may first appear. His grand monologue may fudge a few facts and streamline his background, but heeding Jones' advice may be more valuable than one might expect for a show about the highly profitable oil and gas industry. For more context, here's everything to know about Jerry Jones' Landman cameo.

Fans Have Noticed Striking Similarities Between 'Landman' and 'Yellowstone
Image
As Taylor Sheridan continues to be one of the busiest scribes working on television today, the Yellowstone and Landman creator may have connected the two series through one piece of dialog. Following the fourth episode of Landman on Paramount+, fans noticed a nearly verbatim line spoken by Yellowstone's Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly). The quotation is so similar that some have suggested it's a low-key Easter Egg, while others have flat-out accused Sheridan of lazy writing.

While Sheridan may be laying the groundwork to tie in one of his multiple Yellowstone spin-offs, including 6666 and The Madison, a closer look at the repeated dialog may help clear up the facts. Whether an Easter egg or a product of hasty storytelling, it's clear that the blue-collar characters in Landman and Yellowstone do not care for those with higher education.

With Landman Season 1, Episode 4, "The Sting of Second Chances" revealing that Tommy and Angela are rekindling their relationship, Cbr spoke to Larter about her approach to her character. Why Cooper Is Called "Worm" In Landman
Image
Cooper Norris (Jacob Lofland) is often called a "worm" in Landman, but the show doesn't explain exactly what that title means to real-life oil drilling crews. Landman was inspired by a true story of an oil boom town, and it features a surprisingly realistic story because of that fact. That's part of the reason Landman has already set streaming records for Paramount+, and part of the reason it could become one of Taylor Sheridan's best shows. Having such a realistic story about such an unknown community as oil workers, however, means that some things aren't well known by most viewers.

Landman offers a very deep dive into the perils of working on an oil rig, as well as some of the intricacies of roughneck culture. Through Cooper, Landman has shown everything from how long a typical shift is to how easily a roughneck can die on the job. One...

Taylor Sheridan's New Yellowstone Replacement Sounds Better Than His Sequel Plan
Image
Yellowstone will end after season 5, part 2, but showrunner Taylor Sheridan has an exciting replacement series in the works. Landman, set in West Texas, explores the oil industry's impact on climate, economy, and politics. Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore and premieres on Paramount+ in November 2024.

Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone is sadly coming to an end in late 2024, but the good news is that various spinoffs are in the works, even though the most exciting replacement show coming from Sheridan has nothing to do with the (formerly) Kevin Costner-led series. The Paramount Network neo-Western drama TV series, created by Sheridan and John Linson, premiered in June 2018, and the show has only grown in popularity over the seasons. Nevertheless, Yellowstone will end with season 5 following Costner's exit as John Dutton from the series.

Kevin Costner reportedly left Yellowstone because of behind-the-scenes drama related to his contract and scheduling conflicts.

A Western crime drama series, the Joe Pickett TV series stars Michael Dorman, Julianna Guill, Skywalker Hughes, Kamryn Pliva, Vivienne Guynn, Chad Rock, Aadila Dosani, Sharon Lawrence, Paul Sparks, Mustafa Speaks, and Patrick Gallagher. Set in Wyoming, the story centers on Joe Pickett (Dorman), a committed game warden who lives in the small town of Saddlestring and the surrounding wilderness of Yellowstone National Park. He and his family grapple with the ever-changing socio-political dynamics of their financially challenged small country town.

Taylor Sheridan
Joe Pickett Canceled at Paramount+
Taylor Sheridan
Is Paramount+ cleaning house?

It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.

The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.

We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.

Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.

But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.

Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.

These things happen.

It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.

But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

‘Joe Pickett’ Canceled At Paramount+ After 2 Seasons
Image
Joe Pickett will not return for a third season. Paramount+ has canceled the series, starring Michael Dorman, after two seasons.

The series was originally commissioned by Spectrum in early 2021, which announced prior to the debut of season two that it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals. Paramount+ had the streaming rights to the series and seasons 1 and 2 will continue to be available on the service.

Joe Pickett followed a dedicated game warden (Dorman) and his family as they navigated the shifting sociopolitical climate of a small rural town on the verge of economic collapse.

In the most recent second season, the Wyoming game warden, played by Dorman, discovers a hunter murdered in the mountains and realizes his is just one of a series of gruesome murders. To solve the case and catch the killer, Joe must navigate a radical anti-hunting activist, a ghoulish set of twins living off the grid and his own tortured past.

“Joe Pickett” has been canceled at Paramount+ after two seasons, Variety has learned.

The drama series was originally commissioned by Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals in early 2021. The first season aired on that platform beginning in December 2021, with Spectrum announcing a second season order in February 2022.

However, Spectrum Originals head Katherine Pope was named head of Sony Pictures Television in July 2022, with Charter announcing it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals operations in August of that year. Paramount+ has the streaming rights to the series, as it is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Season 2 airing on the streaming service beginning in June 2023. Both seasons will remain available on the service for the time being.

“Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. The series is based on the Joe Pickett novels written by C.J. Box.
