With the holiday season underway, Disney Channel has announced that its original movie Christmas Again has started production and revealed the cast members set to star in the magical flick. Joining the Christmas Again cast are Scarlett Estevez, Daniel Sunjata, Alexis Carra and Priscilla Lopez.

The new Disney Channel holiday movie centers on Rowena aka “Ro” (Estevez), a high-spirited 11-year-old hoping to add more spunk to her Christmas celebrations when her parents’ (Sunjata and Carra) divorce is going anything but smoothly. Hoping get things back to the way they were before her father’s new girlfriend and her son entered the scene, Ro makes a wish to a mall Santa. However, her Christmas wishes go awry as Ro finds herself living the same day over and over again. Stuck in this endless loop, Ro must learn to love her new blended family and learn the true meaning of Christmas.

Oscar winner Jessica Yu was previously Emmy-nominated for a nonfiction project (in 2006), but helming the fourth episode of FX limited series “Fosse/Verdon” saw her receive her first-ever scripted directing accolades. In the episode, Yu tackled a #MeToo tale about the titular male choreographer (played by Sam Rockwell), and crafted intricate moments of that larger-than-life man losing his spark — and almost his life.

How did you get brought into the “Fosse/Verdon” world, and was there ever consideration of directing a different episode?

I was working in New York on “Billions” and I met with Tommy Kail and Steven Levenson, and it was just a lunch where we were enjoying chatting about everything. From the beginning, the idea is, “This is going to be hard work, but it’s going to be super fun. We’re all grownups, and best idea wins, so everybody brings something to the table.” That was something I sensed from the get-go.

Recovery Road, a teen drama revolving around one girl’s struggle to overcome addiction, will not be coming back for a second season at Freeform.

The newly rebranded network, formerly ABC Family, aired the 10-episode first season earlier this year, finishing it out in March. Unlike network brethren Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth, and The Fosters, the scarcely promoted show didn’t catch on with viewers and – despite mixed-to-positive reviews – barely registered with the mainstream.

Writer Holly Sorenson broke the bad news over Twitter earlier today.

While Freeform has not published an official cancellation notice to its press site, Recovery Road's creator and executive producer, Holly Sorensen, has announced Recovery Road's cancellation, on Twitter. The Recovery Road TV series stars Jessica Sula, Sebastian de Souza, Alexis Carra, Daniel Franzese, Kyla Pratt, David Witts, Caroline Sunshine, and Sharon Leal.

The first episode of Recovery Road introduced viewers to Maddie (Skins‘ Jessica Sula), a high school party girl who may or may not have an addiction to something. (Yes, it’s vague, but that’s kind of the point.) Upon being caught with a bottle of vodka in her locker, she was given two options: expulsion, or 90 days at a sober-living facility. I’ll give you one guess which choice she her mother picked!

When a teen show takes on subject matter a shade darker than the average high school politics or love triangles, it can often be a recipe for disaster. Overacting and melodramatic music can plague even the best of shows, leaving teen audiences with a warped view of what it actually means to go through struggles such as the death of a loved one or, in this case, addiction.

Well, don’t judge Freeform’s Recovery Road, which premieres Monday, Jan. 25 and is adapted from the book by Blake Nelson, by its synopsis. Yes, the series focuses on addiction, particularly that of a party girl named Maddie (Jessica Shula), but it manages to save itself from becoming overtly cheesy or preachy by focusing on its protagonist and taking a more realist approach to the behavior of its teen players.

A comedy, Mixology revolves around 10 people on one night in a trendy New York bar. The cast includes Adam Campbell, Adan Canto, Alexis Carra, Craig Frank, Ginger Gonzaga, Blake Lee, Vanessa Lengies, Andrew Santino, Frankie Shaw, and Kate Simses.

Airing after Modern Family on Wednesday nights, Mixology debuted to a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Those numbers aren't bad but considering the lead-in, the ratings should have been better. They quickly dropped in subsequent weeks, likely sealing its fate.

Of the cancellation, co-star Shaw tweeted, "Sad day. Love to all you #Mixology fans. Keep watching! Great episodes left, esp the finale. xoxoxoxo"

Never begin a relationship with a lie.  That's not wisdom I got from watching ABC's new sitcom "Mixology," which actually preaches quite the opposite. "Mixology" strongly advocates that the best way to get laid involves some level of performativity or outright lying. So maybe it's appropriate, actually, that "Mixology" begins literally every episode with a lie. "This is the story of 10 strangers, one night and all the ridiculous things we do to find love," declares the opening voiceover to "Mixology." My ass. "Mixology" is as much about people on a quest for love as "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is about an archeologist on a quest for snakes.  When you get down to it, "Mixology" is about 10 hateful people looking for sex, irrespective of the lack of chemistry between either the characters or the actors. ABC‘s self-proclaimed “high-concept” comedy, Mixology, is a combination of 24 and Love Actually, but for a somewhat younger crowd than either. Actually, the target demographic might be up in the air, as the ages of, and dialog from, some of the characters pushes the upper region of the key television audience.

At any rate, the series takes place during a single night, in a single location, as 10 strangers enjoy an evening at a local bar, trying to pick up, get picked up, or otherwise figure out how to find love… or something.

ABC’s Mixology is mixing things up by adding a new series regular to the already bursting cast. The comedy series revolves around the exploits of ten singles – five guys and five girls – as they search for love in a sexy Manhattan bar in the course of one night. At least, it was ten singles before the eleventh cast member was added, shaking things up just enough that the dynamics of some characters might have changed, but the overall concept remains untouched. Everyone is still single and looking to make a connection with another, hopefully, single person. And Frankie Shaw will now be there to make everyone feel extremely awkward.

At ABC‘s upfront, there were a few things that the network wanted to make sure you knew. 1) They are really impressed with the idea that people are going to watch Rebel Wilson do just about anything, and 2) There isn’t anything they’re happier about than bringing you more episodes of television created by Shonda Rhimes.

On these notes, the network would love for you to know that more Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal are coming your way. These, ABC would like to impress upon you (as advertisers) are really good shows. Because… hellllooo… so many people watch them that we’re bringing them back. But wait, don’t think that you’re as excited as you can get yet, because if those are your favorite shows, then we have a new one for you to fall in love with, Betrayal.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third announced earlier today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.

The network is changing up some of its serialized dramas - removing random repeats in favor of two "uninterrupted runs" of twelve episodes each (one in the fall, one in the spring) for shows like "Once Upon A Time," "Grey’s Anatomy," "Scandal" and "Revenge". The large gaps between the two half-seasons will be bridged by "limited series" designed around only 12-13 episode seasons.

Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen including the high-profile "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" rip-off "Gothica", McG's rip-off of Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet" entitled "Westside", the series based on Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain ride, the Annie Potts-led "Murder in Manhattan" about...

Sometimes, a night at the bar can feel like an entire year. That's exactly what happens in the new ABC comedy, "Mixology." Taking place on a single night and in a single bar, 10 singles drink and find love in strange ways (one seems to involve vomiting).

Tom (Blake Lee) is out on the town for the first time in 8 years after getting dumped by his fiancee. Accompanying this inept young man are his friends Cal (Craig Frank) and Bruce (Andrew Santino). Tom's first attempted conquest doesn't work out so well when he approaches Maya (Ginger Gonzaga), a somewhat brutal lawyer. Maya is out with her semi-engaged friend, Live (Kate Simses). Meanwhile, a single mom named Jessica (Alexis Carra) and her sister, Janey (Sarah Bolger, "Once Upon a Time"), are waiting for a blind date. That would be a very nervous Ron (Adam Campbell), who promptly vomits into a purse.

Great news from ABC: The network has ordered additional seasons of its soapy dramas Nashville, Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy, as well as another year of Castle.

The network also rounded out its drama orders by renewing Revenge and Once Upon A Time. On the comedy side, it’s bringing back Modern Family (no duh), The Middle, Suburgatory, Last Man Standing, and The Neighbors.

As for new shows, ABC announced the pickup of comedy Super Fun Night, a Rebel Wilson starrer about a junior attorney and her two best friends, who have a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years.

One of pilot season’s easiest calls is now official: ABC has picked up Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., geek god Joss Whedon‘s TV offshoot of the Avengers feature films.

What’s more, the first promo for the brand-new series is set to air this Sunday during the Once Upon a Time season finale.
