Boxer Laila Ali is set as the host of new Food Network series “Chef Grudge Match,” which will debut on the cable channel and HBO Max in August.

According to a source close to the situation, the series is considered a revamp of the Darnell Ferguson-hosted “SuperChef Grudge Match” format, which the network liked, with a new talent that they are “excited about and who works for the premise in a very organic way.”

The announcement comes on the heels of Ferguson pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges connected with past allegations of domestic violence against his wife on May 13, per Louisville, Kentucky’s Courier Journal.

Selena Gomez is staying in the kitchen, except it will be a slightly more professional kitchen, for her next series.

The pop star and Only Murders in the Building Emmy nominee, who hosted four seasons of Selena + Chef for Max as well as four-part series Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays for Food Network, is launching Selena + Restaurant.

The series will premiere May2 on Food Network. It will see her head out of her home kitchen and into the kitchens of some of L.A.’s hottest restaurants.

Gomez will be joined by best friend, Raquelle Stevens, with chefs Shirley Chung, Keith Corbin, Stephanie Izard, Andrew & Michelle Muñoz, Wolfgang Puck and Marcel Vigneron teaching and testing Gomez to see how quickly she can learn the ropes with the ultimate goal of creating a dish good enough to make each restaurant’s menu.

“After every elimination, I’ll be waiting right here to give each chef their one shot at redemption,” says Tom Colicchio in the preview for “Last Chance Kitchen,” which will air after “Top Chef” season 21 episodes and pit the ousted chefs against each other for a chance to return to the competition. “But this season, I may do things a little differently — please meet this season’s 16th competitor …” Watch the preview above.

All is not lost for chefs who have a bad day on the Bravo cooking competition. “Last Chance Kitchen” gives them a chance to make a comeback. But it’s not easy. They have to go head-to-head against another eliminated chef to prepare a dish under a tight time limit. The loser is eliminated from “Top Chef” for good. But the winner gets to continue through “Lck” until finally a chef is selected to return to the competition.

Season 21 of “Top Chef” premieres on Wednesday, March 20, with 15 brand new, talented cheftestants competing in Wisconsin for the title and the grand prize of $250,000, a feature in Food and Wine Magazine and an appearance at the 41st annual Food and Wine Classic in Aspen. Their new series, 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing, will feature 24 chefs taking on 24 food challenges in 24 consecutive hours, via Variety.

The show is being hosted by Food Network stars and chefs Michael Symon and Esther Choi, and is being described as the network’s “most ambitious and grueling culinary competition to date.”
