20th Century Studios is resurrecting another one of its dormant franchises. New life will be breathed into Night at the Museum, the beloved fantasy series starring Ben Stiller and Robin Williams.
According to Deadline, 21 Laps has begun development on a reimagining of Night at the Museum for 20th Century Studios, with Tripper Clancy tapped to write the script. The screenwriter is best known for writing the 2019 buddy action flick Stuber, starring Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani, and the Kevin Hart-led Roku series Die Hart. Unfortunately, the upcoming Night at the Museum reimagining comes with a catch that will likely disappoint longtime fans of the original film trilogy. The new installment is not expected to bring back any cast members and will instead be a "new story set at the museum with all-new characters."

The exhibits are waking up once more — and this time, it's a whole new generation of chaos. Deadline is reporting that 21 Laps is developing a brand-new Night at the Museum reboot for 20th Century Studios, with Die Hartwriter Tripper Clancy set to pen the script. The new spin on the midnight madness in the exhibits won't continue the saga of Ben Stiller’s Larry Daley, but instead introduces all-new characters and a reimagined story set at the museum. Franchise mainstay Shawn Levy, who directed the original trilogy, returns to produce alongside Dan Levine, with Emily Morris overseeing for 21 Laps.
As for why we're returning to this story? Easy to explain. The Night at the Museum trilogy proved to be a major box office success, with all three films combining for approximately $1.35 billion worldwide, with the original 2006 film earning around $574 million globally, establishing the franchise as a hit. Its 2009 sequel,...

It's never too late for any franchise to make a comeback. Time has proven on many occasions that some properties are beloved enough that fans will welcome their return, and 20th Century Studios is hoping that will be the case with Night at the Museum, a family franchise that once brought in big box office for the studio during its heyday. It looks like another adventure is in the works, but it appears to be taking a retooled spin rather than being a mere sequel.
Per Deadline, a new Night at the Museum is being written by Tripper Clancy, and this will be a reimagining of the franchise rather than a follow-up to the last film. Story details are scarce, but it looks like the film will explore new characters at the museum, involved in a brand-new story. The show was renewed with a sequel season titled Die Hart 2: Die Harter. That season became a hit when it premiered on Roku, so prepare for season 3 which could very well follow with the title Die Hart with a Vengeance.

Quibi, the short-lived mobile-concentrated streaming service, may be gone, but one of its original shows had survived. The show is the action parody, Die Hart, by comedian and actor Kevin Hart. In this comedy, Hart plays himself where he wants to live out his fantasy of being an action hero and enlists the help of John Travolta to teach him the ways of being an action star.
The first season also featured appearances by Josh Hartnett and Nathalie Emmanuel of Game of Thrones and the Fast and Furious franchise. Variety now has the lowdown of new cast members joining for season 2 of the show. Another veteran of the Fast and Furious family, the brother of Dominic Toretto himself, John Cena, will be making an appearance for this season, as well as Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor Ben Schwartz and voice artist and comedic actress Paula Pell.

Kevin Hart’s comedy action series Die Hart, which debuted last year on short-lived streaming service Quibi before being resurrected this year as a Roku Original, has been renewed for a second season.
The show is the first Roku Original to get a renewal. The streaming purveyor used the dozens of Quibi shows it acquired in January to launch its original programming banner, with shows all streaming on the free, ad-supported Roku Channel. The first 30 Quibi alumni debuted May 20.
The second outing of the show will be titled Die Harter. Hart will return as star and exec producer but the rest of the cast will be announced down the line. John Travolta, Nathalie Emmanuel, Josh Hartnett and Jean Reno appeared alongside Hart in the first season.

Kevin Hart action-comedy series “Die Hart” has officially been renewed for a second season — again.
Roku announced that it has ordered Season 2 of “Die Hart,” which naturally will be titled “Die Harter,” as an exclusive for the free, ad-supported Roku Channel. “It’s been great to see the incredible response to ‘Die Hart’ on the Roku Channel,” Hart said in a statement. “We’re excited to be partnering with Roku to bring another season to its audience.”
The show is the first former Quibi original that Roku is renewing. Actually, “Die Hart” had already been picked up for a second season by Quibi last September, but that came about a month before the richly funded Jeffrey Katzenberg-led mobile subscription-video startup announced that it was shutting down. In January 2021, Roku paid substantially less than $100 million to snap up the assets of Quibi, a deal that included more than 75 shows.

Quibi and Kevin Hart are teaming back up for another round of action/comedy shenanigans. The streaming service has announced a sequel to Hart's series Die Hart, which was a self-aware take on the action genre, taking its name from the Bruce Willis classic Die Hard. Rather appropriately, the sequel will be titled Die Harter, named in the vein of 1990's Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
Not much was revealed aside from the initial announcement. The series is produced by Kevin Hart and his long-time business partner Jeff Clanagan for Lol Studios. Hart will serve as executive producer, in addition to his starring role, with Candice Wilson (Lol Studios) and Bryan Smiley (HartBeat productions) also on board as executive producers. Jeff Clanagan, President of Laugh Out Loud, had this to say in a statement.

Kevin Hart is returning to Quibi for a sequel to “Die Hart,” the streaming service announced on Thursday. The sequel will be dubbed “Die Harter,” naturally, with the title once again paying homage to the Bruce Willis-led “Die Hard” movies.
In the first season, Hart played a fictionalized version of himself who’s looking to avoid being typecast strictly as a funnyman. To do so, Hart went to a top notch “action star school” that was led by a nutty director (played by John Travolta) and pitted him against a strong-willed rival student (played by Nathalie Emmanuel), with the dream of becoming Hollywood’s next great action star.

Kevin Hart is coming back for more action at Quibi.
The short-form content platform has renewed Hart’s comedy action series “Die Hart” for a second season, which will be called “Die Harter.”
In the first season, which Quibi bills as its most-watched show of the summer, Hart played a version of himself trying to step out of the role of “comedic sidekick” by going to the world’s greatest action star school. While there, the school’s lunatic director (John Travolta) and tough-minded rival student (Nathalie Emmanuel) pushed him to his limits as he was thrown into the deep end.

The WGA West says it has collected “tens of thousands of dollars” in interest payments in the past few months from companies that were late in paying their writers, including several interest payments in excess of $10,000 for individual writers.
The guild says much of its success in this area is attributable to its requirement that franchised agents turn over their writer-clients’ contracts, invoices, deal memos, writer compensation and commission information.
“Late pay is so pervasive that many writers have a story about waiting weeks, or even months, for a paycheck,” the guild told its members Friday. “It is one of the problems the Guild is working to address in the agency campaign.” The guild said that with the information the agencies are required to provide, “the Guild can now see when payment is due, then check with writers to see if they’ve been paid on time and, if payment is overdue,...

Quibi has released the first trailer for Die Hart. Much as the name implies, this is an action/comedy series that stars Kevin Hart, who is playing a version of himself that looks to become an action hero. Hart, in addition to his starring role, is producing the series. As we can see in the trailer, the transition from comedian to action star isn't going to be a smooth one. Also, it is extremely Nsfw. You have been warned.
The trailer kicks off with Kevin Hart explaining that he has wanted to be an action movie star his whole life. Yet, he ends up playing second fiddle to his friend and co-star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson time and time again. We then get to the heart of the matter, which sees Hart attending a school for action stars, which is headed up by none other than John Travolta. The footage is filled with stunts,...

Pitching projects during a pandemic is no easy task, but the WGA West is offering five tips on virtual pitch meetings. “As if the prospect of pitching wasn’t daunting already, writers now have to do it through the impersonal, virtual workplace that is the Zoom room,” the guild told its members today. “The subtle and stressful art of pitching is not made easier when you can’t read the room, make eye contact, or tell if the people in the tiny squares on your computer screen are laughing – or even paying attention.”
The guild’s recommendations stem from its recent “Pitch Perfect” panel discussion moderated by Spiro Skentzos that featured conversations with writers Annie Julia Wyman (The Chair), Mikki Daughtry (The Curse of La Llorona), and Tripper Clancy (I Am Not Okay With This); and executives Amy Suh, development executive of genre series at Amazon Studios, and Sheila Walcott,...
