Directed by Eric Appel with a script from Tripper Clancy, Season 1 saw Hart playing a fictionalized version of himself who aspires to be an action hero rather than a comedic sidekick. Cena is set to play a legendary stuntman Mr 206, Schwartz will play Hart’s assistant Andre, and Pell will play Andre’s mother Cynthia.

Quibi, the short-lived mobile-concentrated streaming service, may be gone, but one of its original shows had survived. The show is the action parody, Die Hart, by comedian and actor Kevin Hart. Kevin Hart action-comedy series “Die Hart” has officially been renewed for a second season — again.

Roku announced that it has ordered Season 2 of “Die Hart,” which naturally will be titled “Die Harter,” as an exclusive for the free, ad-supported Roku Channel. “It’s been great to see the incredible response to ‘Die Hart’ on the Roku Channel,” Hart said in a statement. “We’re excited to be partnering with Roku to bring another season to its audience.”

The show is the first former Quibi original that Roku is renewing. Actually, “Die Hart” had already been picked up for a second season by Quibi last September, but that came about a month before the richly funded Jeffrey Katzenberg-led mobile subscription-video startup announced that it was shutting down. In January 2021, Roku paid substantially less than $100 million to snap up the assets of Quibi, a deal that included more than 75 shows.

The streaming service has announced a sequel to Hart's series Die Hart, which was a self-aware take on the action genre, taking its name from the Bruce Willis classic Die Hard. Not much was revealed aside from the initial announcement. The series is produced by Kevin Hart and his long-time business partner Jeff Clanagan for Lol Studios.
