‘Slow Horses’ Season 5 Latest Update Is Bad News for Will Smith Fans
Image
Over 4 seasons, Apple TV+’s Slow Horses has gradually created a reputation for itself as a complex thriller. With season 5 set to premiere on Sept. 24, 2025, and the show already being renewed for seasons 6 and 7, fans can rest easy. This horse is galloping without any hurdles. Except for one issue. Will Smith, the executive producer and Emmy-winning writer who has been a part of the show since the beginning, is officially handing over the reins after this season.

Based on Mick Herron’s beloved Slough House novels, the Apple TV+ drama has been praised for its dark humor, razor-sharp writing, and award-winning performances. It currently holds a 98% critic and 88% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Will Smith’s departure marks the end of an era. It also raises questions on how the show will function henceforth without his creative vision.

‘Slow Horses’ Boss Will Smith to Exit After Season 5
Image
“Slow Horses” is losing a key player after Season 5. Executive producer Will Smith, who writes and essentially serves as showrunner — though that title is not used in UK productions — will exit the show after the episodes premiering this fall, TheWrap has learned.

The Apple TV+ drama series starring Gary Oldman has already been renewed for two more seasons. Writers Gabby Chiappe and Ben Vanstone were tapped to lead the charge for Seasons 6 and 7, respectively.

Smith teased in an interview with Deadline that Season 5 will “close out certain storylines” that have been prevalent since the start of the show, making it the right time to hand over the show to other creatives. Season 5 is set to premiere Sept. 24.

The upcoming fifth and sixth seasons are expected to adapt Mick Herron’s novels “London Rules,” “Joe Country” and “Slough House.” “Ted Lasso” star Nick Mohammed joins the cast as a special guest...

A Terrific New Molly Gordon Movie Tears Down One Of Modern TV's Most Annoying Tropes
Image
"Oh, Hi!" starts off like a rom-com, but also like a horror movie. We meet Iris (Molly Gordon) and her boyfriend Isaac (Logan Lerman) as they spend a nice weekend up in a secluded house out of the city, and during that first day, everything seems suspiciously perfect. Indeed, Iris and Isaac seem to be getting along a little too well, and we know this wouldn't be much of a movie if nothing went wrong.

Finally, the penny drops: While Isaac is handcuffed to a bed post-coitus, he reveals that he's not ready for a relationship. Iris is baffled, because it sure seemed like she and Isaac were already in a relationship. But Isaac doesn't see it this way. Despite inviting her for a weekend getaway upstate and being romantic with her throughout the whole first act, he doesn't see Iris as his girlfriend and has zero interest in letting that happen.

Five Rom-Com Easter Eggs Later, I’m Completely  in Love With ‘Ted Lasso’ Again
Image
Ted Lasso is a show that manages to be hilarious and heartwarming. The show about being good has been hailed as too simplistic by many, but it has layers of emotional depth. Additionally, the show also doesn’t shy away from paying homage to films and shows that have shaped the zeitgeist. Season 2’s episode, Rainbow, added some rom-com magic to the football storyline to improve the emotional arcs of the characters.

From Notting Hill to Pretty Woman, Ted Lasso has borrowed visual motifs, musical cues, and iconic lines to create subtle love letters to rom-coms. Thankfully, it all works to make the viewer fall more in love with the characters. Also, it helps that these easter eggs are all smartly incorporated into the characters’ emotional arcs. So, let us break down these easter eggs.

I Rewatched Ted Lasso and Can’t Believe This Scene Actually Made It to the Final Cut
Image
Recently, I re-watched Ted Lasso to brush up on the lore and prepare myself for the upcoming season. One thing that I stuck out like a sore thumb that I did not realize the first time was when, in Season 2, Episode 7, titled “Headspace,” Nate kisses Keeley. It was a shocking scene that I was surprised to see in the final cut!

Even Reddit threads made it weirder for me to analyse the scene. This became a notable scene that has gone around and become a point of discussion. Both the characters had their space and situations, but what is more to see through is the fact that Keeley is already Roy’s girlfriend at this point, not to mention the issue of consent.

Image
Hannah Waddinghamcertainly had an interesting comparison for the upcomingTed Lasso revival. Ted Lasso was the first true breakout hit for AppleTV+, where it ran for three seasons from 2020 to 2023 and concluded with what was mapped out as a three-season story. Waddingham played Rebecca Welton, the owner of the AFC Richmond Football Club, in the series. Waddingham won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Season 1 of the series and is one of the cast members confirmed to return for Season 4.

At the premiere for The Smurfs, Waddingham spoke with Variety about returning for Ted Lasso Season 4. The Emptiness of High-Budget Original Streaming Films
Image
What do audiences lose when studios swap the magic of the theatre for yet another forgettable big-budget release that quietly lands on streaming and is forgotten before the next boring release comes around? Does anyone remember Guy Ritchie’s “Fountain of Youth”? It came out just a few months ago on Apple TV as an original film with a whopping $180 million budget. Twenty years ago, the idea of such a high-budget film not releasing in the cinemas for wide audiences would have been almost unthinkable.

The film itself received mixed-to-negative reviews; however, the worst part about it is just how utterly forgettable it was. Start to finish, this movie unfolds as an empty void of soulless entertainment that almost demands you turn your brain off so as not to be distracted by its deeply flawed script. It’s certainly not the first high-budget film to be made in this vein,...

10 Times Roy Kent Said Exactly What You Were Thinking
Image
Roy Kent has been the flagbearer of no-nonsense in Ted Lasso for 3 seasons, and there’s a reason why his wit and humor were so relatable. He always kept it real and didn’t try to change to impress anyone. He was the fearless, outspoken leader who always spoke his mind.

Despite 33% Rotten Tomatoes Rating, Jensen Ackles' New Crime Series Is an Instant Streaming Hit
Image
Known for his portrayal of Dean Winchester in the fantasy series Supernatural as well as his foray into the world of superheroes, Jensen Ackles is a reliable actor with plenty of pedigree, worth leading the line of a big new project. That is exactly what Prime Video has done, making Ackles the leading man of their latest thriller series, Countdown.

However, after early reviews for Countdown proved less than impressive, with the show earning a poor 33% critics' score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing, some may have been worried whether the show would hit the heights higher-ups would've expected. Well, fear not, as Countdown has officially bounced straight into the official top 10 most-streamed titles on Prime Video in the US, as of June 26, 2025, as well as earning a much-improved Rotten Tomatoes audience score. Shooting straight in at #2, Countdown has just missed out on the top spot...

'The Accountant 2' Continues to Dominate Streaming Three Weeks Premiere
Image
Almost three weeks after its debut on Prime Video, Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's The Accountant 2 continues to dominate the streaming charts. Premiering on Thursday, June 5, the action sequel has easily commanded the number one spot this whole time, fending off newcomers like the comedic crime thriller, Deep Cover. That's no small feat when you consider the Amazon original starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed snagged an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score, and is now Certified Fresh with a 91%.

Reuniting Affleck and Bernthal after almost 10 years, The Accountant 2's success on streaming comes as no surprise, really. It was perhaps one of the most anticipated action sequels in recent memory, and didn't disappoint the fans. While its box-office performance of $102 million against an $80 million budget may not have been anything to write home about, its Verified Hot score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes from those that...

Deep Cover Interview: We chat with Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed
Orlando Bloom, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Nick Mohammed in Deep Cover (2025)
Last week, Prime Video dropped a nifty little action comedy flick called Deep Cover. Directed by Tom Kingsley, who directed an impressive indie comedy several years back called Black Pond, and is best known for his work on the hit comedy series Ghosts (the UK version), the movie stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom and Ted Lasso breakout Nick Mohammed as failing improv actors who are recruited by the police to execute drug buys. Of course, as in any movie where someone goes undercover, they get “in too deep” and have to contend with some bad guys, who are led by none other than Ian McShane. Plus, Sean Bean is in it! How’s that for a cast!

Our man Alex Maidy gave this one a solid review, calling it a “quick watch and one that you will not forget”, with him also raving about Orlando Bloom’s comic performance,...

There are hundreds of captivating movies streaming on Prime Video right now, but one of the more recent additions to the platform has surpassed two major stars on streaming charts. Deep Cover is the latest original movie from Prime Video. After earning a strong 93% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 79% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter, the film has landed in the #3 spot on Prime Video's top 10 list, behind only The Accountant 2 and The Better Sister. The streaming service has also adapted various Tom Clancy novels and characters in Without Remorse and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. This Prime Video Action Comedy With Orlando Bloom Deserves Your Attention
Image
The 2025 summer movie season is in full swing, with big-ticket franchise flicks like "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning," "Lilo & Stitch," and "How to Train Your Dragon" doing great runs at the box office. Hopefully, your first instinct is to hit your local multiplex, because movies are made to be seen in theaters, and exhibitors could certainly use your business. But the streamers are always out there generating their own content, and sometimes they cough up something worth watching.

Last summer, Netflix gave us what could've been one of the year's biggest blockbusters in "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," and they'll no doubt attract loads of eyeballs a month from now when they unveil Adam Sandler's long-awaited "Happy Gilmore 2." Other streaming movies on the menu this summer include "Echo Valley," Spike Lee's "Highest 2 Lowest" (which earned raves at last month's Cannes Film Festival), and "The Old Guard 2.

Former 'Jurassic World' Star Talks About Possibly Returning to the Franchise
Image
Bryce Dallas Howard has become known for much more than just the Jurassic World movies, such as her work in the Star Wars franchise and roles as diverse as the TV series Black Mirror and the Twilight Saga, and she says that she's open to reprising her character in the dinosaur franchise created by Steven Spielberg in the early '90s. Howard portrayed park operations head Claire Dearing in the first three iterations of Jurassic World. However, given Universal Pictures' decision to fully reboot the Jurassic universe, Howard has stepped out. When asked if she's willing to return in the future, Howard says that she's "open," but also understands the franchise's new direction.

Howard spoke to Screen Rant to promote her new film, Deep Cover, an action comedy co-starring Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed. When addressing the Jurassic franchise, the actor/director expressed her excitement about seeing the new film Jurassic World Rebirth,...

“Yeah, I’ve served the crown,” he said laughing down the line from his home in Palm Springs.

Colin Trevorrow Talks Producing ‘Deep Cover,’ the Return of ‘Jurassic World’ and Star Wars Detachment
Image
Colin Trevorrow has his eye on the next generation of filmmakers.

After shepherding his Jurassic World trilogy to the box-office tune of nearly $4 billion worldwide, the filmmaker turned his attention to his production banner, Metronome Film Company. Trevorrow’s mission is to create opportunities for up-and-coming filmmakers in the same way that Steven Spielberg once did for him on 2015’s Jurassic World.

“Because I’ve had some success in my career, my absolute top priority is not just paying it forward, but also being able to introduce new talent to move us forward,” Trevorrow tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We don’t have farm teams in Hollywood, and I think that it’s a responsibility of filmmakers to identify who’s next. A lot of these icons that we have now were identified by another filmmaker, and that’s something I would love to have on my record.”

'Deep Cover's Rotten Tomatoes Score is No Laughing Matter
Image
At first glance, you wouldn't think that a movie about a bunch of improv actors becoming police informants would strike a chord with so many people, but that's just what Prime Video's latest, Deep Cover, has done. Premiering yesterday, June 12, the British action comedy directed by Tom Kingsley has landed a stellar 92% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and fans are equally impressed with the new film, as they've rated it 82% on the Popcornmeter.

"Deep Cover is exactly the type of twist-filled action comedy with gags, guns, and gangsters that will delight fans who enjoy movies that have the madcap spirit of Guy Ritchie's early films," said Carla Hay from Culture Mix in her review. Guy Ritchie's early films, you say? Sign us up! Glenn Kenny from the New York Times is another critic who had high praise for the movie, adding:

"The ensemble is packed with seasoned acting professionals across the board,...

Bryce Dallas Howard's New Improv Comedy Gets a Standing Ovation on Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Although her last film, Argylle, failed to catch on with audiences, that hasn't slowed Bryce Dallas Howard down at all. Her action-packed new improv comedy feature, Deep Cover, pairing her with Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed, among others, released on Prime Video on Thursday and immediately killed it with critics and audiences. The film debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and, heading into its second day on the platform, has kept viewers engaged with a strong 92% Tomatometer rating and an 82% audience score so far. Compared to Argylle's 33% critics' score and 70% audience score, it's a big bounceback for Howard, giving her and her co-stars a chance to flex both their comedic and action chops to hilarious lengths.

Deep Cover hails from director Tom Kingsley and reunites Howard with Jurassic World writer-director Colin Trevorrow, who penned the script with Derek Connolly, Ben Ashenden, and Alexander Owen. In the eyes of critics,...

"It’s Ripe For That Kind of Revisit": Orlando Bloom Imagines What Will Turner Would Be Like If He Returned in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 6' [Exclusive]
Image
We've learned from Pirates of the Caribbean that dead men tell no tales, but fans of the franchise sure would like their favorite characters to return if the film series is ever brought back to life. During an interview to promote his new action-comedy Deep Cover, Orlando Bloom talked to Collider's Christina Radish about the possibility of returning to Pirates 6 and was optimistic about the idea.

Bloom first took a second to set the record straight about his past comments about Pirates of the Caribbean. Earlier this week, he stated on ITV Morning that "it’d be great to get the band back together," but now he further explained his comment to Radish and revealed that, even though he's excited about the possibility, he has "no idea what they’re doing with that movie." Additionally, Bloom mentioned that it would be a great time to revisit the story:

"I like the idea of,...

Deep Cover Review: Bryce Dallas Howard and Orlando Bloom improvise a surprisingly good action-comedy
Image
Plot: Kat, an improv comedy teacher, is questioning if she’s missed her shot at success. When an undercover cop offers her the role of a lifetime, she recruits two of her students to infiltrate London’s gangland by impersonating dangerous criminals.

Review: Count me as surprised, but Deep Cover is very funny. With the trailer dropping just a month ago, the Prime Video exclusive debuted on the streaming service today. Starring a pretty solid cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed, Deep Cover looked like the type of forgettable vehicle that often gets relegated to a digital premiere these days. Nevertheless, the film, co-written by Jurassic World‘s Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, is a hilarious comedy full of violence, profanity, and engaging characters. Clocking in at just over ninety minutes, Deep Cover is counterprogramming used to complement summer box office tentpoles. Luckily,...

Deep Cover (2025) Movie Ending Explained: Can Three Misfits Outwit the Underworld and Escape Unscathed?
Image
Tom Kingsley’s “Deep Cover” (2025) is an energetic, self-aware, and unabashedly rollicking time at the movies. As gleefully ridiculous as it is, a vibrant blast of disguise, the film employs performativity in a congruent relationship with undercover police work. Both are established as being in sync, buoyed by an ability to put on acts that can knock down targets and villains. What is fundamentally needed is pure conviction, one that allows others to believe in your projection and fall for traps. Kingsley orchestrates it with giddy delight. There’s an innocence with which the film unravels, bringing charm and thrill alike.

The emphasis isn’t so much on heightened tension and escalating stakes as it is on the anticipation of the impersonation successfully working. It enormously helps the ensemble is terrific and game, bringing bite and sass. Every actor brings a lively energy, a bundle of amiable nerves which keeps the film steadily afloat.

'Ted Lasso' Star Confirms Season 4 Is Bringing Big Changes and Will Feature "A Whole Host of New Characters" [Exclusive]
Image
Coach Beard just let slip yesterday that Ted Lasso Season 4 will begin filming sooner than we thought, and now one of his co-stars has broken his silence on what to expect in the next season. It didn’t take long after the Ted Lasso Season 3 finale for whispers to rumble about a potential fourth season, and those rumblings picked up steam earlier this year until it was officially announced that a fourth season of the heartfelt sports drama was in the works. Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate in the hit Apple TV+ show, recently sat down for an interview with Collider’s Christina Radish for Deep Cover, and she asked if Season 3 felt like the end at the time, or if he knew even then that they’d be coming back for more:

"A bit of both. The storylines in Season 3 would suggest that there was a real sense of finality.

‘Deep Cover’ Movie Summary & Spoilers: Did Metcalfe Get Caught?
Image
Tom Kingsley’s Deep Cover doesn’t really bring anything new to the table if we talk about the basic storyline and the plot points, but it is the performances of the actors that make it an entertaining watch. Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, Nick Mohammed, and Paddy Considine were able to create moments of genuine laughter, and they made sure that the audience didn’t lose interest or get bored. That said, let’s find out what happened in the film and how an improv artist, an actor, and a corporate employee became undercover agents.

Spoiler Alert

How did Kat, Marlon, and Hugh become undercover agents?

Kat, Marlon, and Hugh were struggling in their own professional fields, and it felt as if they had reached a dead end where they would have to make peace with their miserable existence. Kate was an improv comedian, and for years she’d...

Orlando Bloom Admits He Had Mixed Feelings on Being Known for ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Forever | Video
Image
With many actors, there’s often a career-defining character in their catalogue — but in the case of Orlando Bloom, there are two. And according to him, he did have mixed feelings about being known for them forever.

Starring in Prime Video’s “Deep Cover,” now streaming, alongside Bryce Dallas Howard and Nick Mohammed, Bloom plays Marlon, an actor best known for a series of commercials he did, in which he plays the “Pizza Knight.” Marlon takes himself very seriously as an actor though, and definitely does not want to be known for one viral role.

There’s a parallel that could be drawn there, given that Bloom himself had a meteoric breakout in 2001, starting with Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” where he was cast as Legolas. Shortly thereafter, Bloom played William Turner in “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Argylle Star Admits She Isn't Surprised Henry Cavill's Spy Film Flopped
Image
The proposed Argylle trilogy faces an uncertain future after the film flopped critically and commercially. Though the failure of the star-studded movie, featuring Henry Cavill in the lead role, may have raised eyebrows, Bryce Dallas Howard says she saw it coming.

Speaking with The Independent, Howard said she had a feeling that the Matthew Vaughn-helmed spy action-comedy wouldn't land because she knows whenever a project she's a part of will struggle. "You can always see it coming while you're making it," the actor said. "I've never been shocked when something doesn't work. But I'm just an actor – you're there to serve a director's vision. If a movie doesn't turn out the way that you envisioned, you can barely feel disappointed because it's not yours. You're not the person who's building the thing."

Howard, who stars as spy novelist Elle Conway in Argylle, differs from her famous father, Ron Howard,...

Deep Cover review – Bryce Dallas Howard leads improv actors into London’s underground
Orlando Bloom
Howard, Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed star in an entertaining odd-trio crime caper with turns by Sean Bean and Paddy Considine

Producer and screenwriter Colin Trevorrow has co-created this amiable, high-concept action comedy about three hapless improv actors dragooned into going into deep cover to bust a drug ring. It’s entertaining, though I think some of the cast understand comedy better and more instinctively than others. It’s set in London (though Trevorrow might originally have imagined it set in LA or New York) and the credit is shared with his longtime writing partner Derek Connolly, and also with Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen, the funny British double act known as the Pin, who also amusingly appear as two squabbling coppers with a Mitchell and Webb energy. The director is the talented Tom Kingsley, who has a substantial TV career and with Will Sharpe got a Bafta nomination in...

Deep Cover Review — Crime Comedy Is Light on Plot, Heavy on Laughs
Image
Deep Cover represents a sort of shot at redemption for star Bryce Dallas Howard. After starring in 2024’s abysmal spy comedy Argylle, she takes the lead in the Tom Kingsley-directed action comedy. And in a positive swing, Deep Cover is a much bigger success.

Deep Cover Plot

Howard plays Kat, a struggling actor working in London as an improv teacher. She is recruited by the local police to go undercover for small-time sting operations. Needing a team — scene partners, if you will — she brings in two of her students, Marlon (Orlando Bloom) and Hugh (Nick Mohammed).

But in their first sting, the trio “yes, ands” their way to a much deeper part of the London criminal underworld. Their handler, played by Sean Bean, insists they keep up the ruse in an effort to take down some of the city’s biggest players.
