Another scriped series is officially on the move.

CBS All Access today announced that it has acquired the rights to Coyote, which was initially in the works at Paramound Network.

The streamer today released the official trailer for the series, and announced all six episodes of the scripted drama series, starring Emmy® Award-winner Michael Chiklis, Juan Pablo Raba, and Adriana Paz, will be available to stream exclusively on the service beginning Thursday, Jan. 7.

Michael Chiklis drama “Coyote” is moving from Paramount Network to CBS All Access, TheWrap has confirmed.

The six-episode series will premiere on the streaming service, which is set to be rebranded as Paramount+ on Jan. 7, 2021. It was first ordered at ViacomCBS-owned cable channel Paramount Network, which will become the Paramount Movie Network next year, as it shifts focus away from series television (with the exception of “Yellowstone”).

The Michael Chiklis drama “Coyote” will now debut on CBS All Access rather than the cable channel which is shifting away from original shows towards TV movies and miniseries, as Variety reported exclusively.

News of the “Coyote” move comes almost a year-and-a-half after it was ordered to series at Paramount Network. All six episodes of the show will now be available to stream from Jan. 7.

In “Coyote,” Chiklis stars as Ben Clemens who, after 32 years as a border patrol agent, is forced to work for the very people he spent his career trying to keep out of America. Netflix brings the Us Premiere of the much-lauded I Lost My Body to Fantastic Fest after an award winning debut at Cannes Critics Week. From director J&#233r&#233my Clapin, this singular tale of a severed hand trying to reunite with its owner is told in a striking hand-drawn animation style and won the Cristal award at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

I spoke to 600 Miles director Gabriel Ripstein minutes after an earthquake hit Mexico City on November 23rd and unexpectedly became the bearer of bad news when I asked him if his family was alright. Mr. Ripstein wasn’t aware there’d been an earthquake, but calmly added “no news is good news”. His serene demeanor reminded me of the tone of his film, a weapon-trafficking tale which could’ve easily become a sensationalist drama, but instead goes for an understated, thoughtful approach. The film stars Tim Roth as an American Atf agent who is kidnapped by a Mexican weapons smuggler played by Kristyan Ferrer (who audiences will know from Sin Nombre).

Ripstein allows his actors to revel in the humanity of these characters and delivers a film that goes beyond “odd couple” clichés, to comment on an issue that doesn’t get as much coverage as the war on drugs or terrorism.

Like many of the filmmakers who’ve made gangster movies, “600 Miles” writer-director Gabriel Ripstein admitted that he’s stolen from Martin Scorsese. In his case, he said at TheWrap’s Award Screening of his film, Mexico’s entry into the Oscar foreign-language race, it was a scene where baby-faced gangster Arnulfo (Kristyan Ferrer) tries out his tough image in a mirror. “Obviously, I stole it,” Ripstein told moderator Tim Appelo. “But in ‘Taxi Driver,’ it’s a scene of violence, and here it’s a moment of love, seduction – a young man coming to terms with his sexuality, which is really frowned upon.

Winning the Best First Feature Award at the Berlin International Film Festival is no small feat, and debutante Gabriel Ripstein achieved such distinction last February with "600 Miles," a singular take on the ambivalent relationship between Mexico and the United States. The film is Mexico's Official Oscar Entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

English-language talent is represented by British actor Tim Roth who stars as American Hank Harris, an Atf agent who crosses over kidnapped by Arnulfo Rubio (Kristyan Ferrer), a young man who smuggles weapons across the border. Regardless of their distinctively opposing worldviews, their destinies are intricately connected - just likes their respective homelands. Ferrer recently starred in films such as "Buen Dia, Ramon" and "The Empty Hours," both of which were released in the U.S.

Stateside distribution for "600 Miles" is being handled by Pantelion Films, the distribution and production company behind the most successful Spanish-language films ever released in the U.S. including Eugenio Derbez' "Instructions Not Included," "A La Mala," and the surprise animated hit "Un Gallo Con Muchos Huevos."

Gabriel Risptein’s Lucia Films thriller starring Tim Roth will fly the flag in the Academy’s foreign-language contest.

600 Miles premiered in Berlin where it earned Ripstein the Best First Feature Award before winning the Mezcal Award for best Mexican Film in Guadalajara.

Roth plays a Us agent who befriends his gun-smuggling captor during a long ride to the Mexican’s cartel bosses. Kristyan Ferrer also stars.

One of the key functions of film festivals around the world is being able to pick out and showcase upcoming talent, often giving them a platform or a spotlight. The Berlin Film Festival is no different in this regard, as it offers a Best First Feature Award to first-time filmmakers whose submissions are accepted. The 2015 incarnation of the festival gave this award to Gabriel Ripstein for 600 Millas, or 600 Miles. The film’s synopsis is as follows.

Arnulfo Rubio smuggles weapons for a deadly Mexican cartel. Atf agent Hank Harris attempts to apprehend him, but gets kidnapped by Rubio, instead. Rubio takes him to his bosses, but during the 600-miles-long drive, they slowly befriend.

And while the movie hasn't yet landed a U.S. distributor, the international rollout is underway and the first trailer has arrived. The Fifa film United Passions may have proved an unholy embarrassment for Roth, but this low-key kidnap drama shows he is still an excellent actor

At last, a smidgen of good news for Tim Roth, after the fiasco that is his Fifa film, United Passions. Another film, Mexican crime thriller 600 Miles, has come along to remind us that Roth is in fact – most of the time – a pretty good actor. Roth plays an Atf agent who finds himself shanghaied over the border to Mexico and, despite a wavering accent that lurches occasionally back to his native London, his quiet, intense presence is just right for the role.

The warmhearted drama-comedy was also for 3 weeks in a raw 2nd place in screen average only behind "Hercules" (first week) and then "Lucy" (on its second and third week). "Guten Tag, Ramón" tells the story of Ramón (Kristyan Ferrer), a young man from a small northern Mexican town that has tried unsuccessfully five times to cross the U.S. border. Back home he refuses to become a criminal. He decides instead to look for a friend's aunt in Germany. He travels to Germany and he never finds the aunt. He survives in the streets until he meets Ruth (Ingeborg Schöner), a retired and lonely woman. Beyond language barriers and prejudices they develop an amazing friendship.

"Guten Tag, Ramón" is a Beanca Films’s co-production with Germany’s Mpn Cologne Film 3 (MedienParks) in association with Fox International Productions. It is written, directed and produced by Mexican-German helmer Jorge Ramírez-Suárez and co-produced by Thierry Potok and Jorge Eduardo Ramírez. Starring Kristyan Ferrer, Ingeborg Schöner, Héctor Kotsifakis, Arcelia Ramírez, Adriana Barraza. The film was shot in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt in Germany and Durango, Mexico.

The film will open in several territories in South and Central America in October. The release in Germany and the U.S. is set on January 22, 2015 also by 20th Century Fox. Other territories will follow.

At the risk of overextending a writing-workshop maxim, great cinema often proves that the tale is in the telling. The primacy of visuals necessitates that how a story is told weighs more heavily on the film's success than the nature of the story itself.

Such is the case with Aaron Fernandez's The Empty Hours, a studied, coming-of-age narrative that makes a familiar tale sing. Set at a by-the-hour seaside motel in Veracruz, the picture follows 17-year-old Sebastian (Kristyan Ferrer) as he starts managing the establishment. With little human contact and plenty of free time, Sebastian's curiosity gets the best of him, as he can't help but eavesdrop and spy upon the various lovers coming and going. El Narco was recently shown in Cannes 2011 (Lightning) and hopefully, good news will return from this locale, as a North American release date has not been announced so far. For now, watch the comedic, yet sinister hijinks of Benny and his criminal underlings in the exciting reel below.
