The Japanese film site Cinema Today has uploaded a trailer for Akio Kondo’s Éclair to their channel on YouTube.
Based on an autobiographical novel by Shigeru Nishimura, the film stars Hajime Yoshii as a young orphan boy named Akio who’s sent to a reform school in the spring of 1943 after he escapes an orphanage and is caught stealing sweets. He quickly attracts the attention of an ultra strict instructor called “White Satan” who doles out spartan discipline, but Akio feels healed when he hears Yoko-sensei (Saori) sing the song “Okashi to Musume”.
Akio is soon adopted by a single woman named Fusano (Ayumi Ishida).
