Matthew Scott Montgomery got his first big break in Los Angeles as the part of Kendall Parker in Del Shores' 2010 play Yellow that ran for a year. For his performance, he won Best Featured Performance in a Play at the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle nominated against such actors as Harry Groener and Chris Pine, Best Featured Actor in a Play at the Backstage Garland Awards, Comedy/Dramatic Performance of the Year at the Stage Scene LA Awards, and was nominated for Best Performance at the LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards. While he was doing the run, Montgomery was cast in the Disney Channel pilot for Shake It Up! and continued to work on Disney Channel on Sonny With a Chance/So Random and Austin & Ally. Since then he has appeared on Jane the Virgin, White Famous, Betch and multiple episodes of Smosh. He was also featured in two documentary series - Unidentified with Demi Lovato and Dancing with the Devil. He and Lovato are best friends and have been since 2011. He also reunited with Shores for a live production and a film version of Southern Baptist Sissies, opposite Leslie Jordan. Montgomery also has made a name for himself in Los Angeles Theater. He was in Stage Kiss at the Geffen Playhouse and was the writer and star of the play Dead Boys. Dead Boys was held at the Celebration Theatre, partially funded by a grant from the city of West Hollywood. He has written multiple plays, his most recent being Foursome, in development with his theater company IAMA Theatre. His short film Don't Turn Off the Ghost Light has won multiple awards in the festival circuit, a reuniting of he and his Disney Channel co-star Allisyn Snyder (Sonny With a Chance). The two co-directed with Montgomery writing and starring. His first feature, Howdy, Neighbor!, is in post-production, directed by Snyder with her production company and stars himself, Debby Ryan, and Alyson Stoner.
