'Ant-Man': 5 Non-Ultron Villains For Hank Pym
by Brett White

The news that Ultron would be the main antagonist for Joss Whedon's "Avengers" sequel has ended up shedding a lot of light on director Edgar Wright's long-gestating "Ant-Man" film. The film may not hit theaters until November 2015, but people are talking about it now.

Thanks to interviews and hunches, we know that Hank Pym will be featured in "Ant-Man" in some capacity—even though he'll be absent from "Avengers: Age of Ultron." There are also rumors that Tony Stark will be Ultron's creator, and not Pym, which gives one of Ant-Man's main accomplishments to another scientist. Now Edgar Wright has told Science Fiction that Ultron was never even a part of his "Ant-Man."

"I cannot really get into that, but um... I'll say no. No he wasn't." Definitive statement is definitive! But if Pym isn't going up against Ultron, who could he possibly go up against?...

Iron Man 3 Begins Filming Scenes In Beijing
Adding the Mandarin as a chief adversary was only the beginning. As promised, Iron Man 3 has begun filming scenes in Beijing, and in the process, has added actor Wang Xuequi for a supporting part, Deadline reports. The actor will play Dr. Wu, an adversary of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and a part that, at one point, belonged to Hong Kong star Andy Lau, though he had to back out before filming began. Calm down, Marvel fans. While Chen Lu is the alter-ego of Radioactive Man in the Marvel universe, Deadline claims that Xuequi.s role is .not a huge part. so this isn.t part of a massive spinoff for Phase Three of the Marvel universe. Marvel reportedly chose to film in China as part ofa partnership with Dmg Entertainment. At Comic-Con, director Shane Black downplayed the amount of manpower that will be used to film the scenes...

The cast of Marvel's highly anticipated Iron Man 3 just got a little bit bigger. Wang Xuequi has officially joined the cast for the highly anticipated action flick, where he will be playing an original character named Dr. Wu, Deadline reports. Before news broke of Xuequi's casting, famed Hong Kong actor Andy Lau was rumored to be joining the cast to play Chen Lu, aka Radioactive Man. It was then suspected Xuequi would take Lau's place in the project, before it was revealed that Xuequi will play a whole new character in the famous franchise.  Deadline also reports that Wang's role "is not a huge part." 'Iron Man 3' Adds Chinese Actor Wang Xuequi
Even with the movie hitting theaters in just a few months, it's never too late to add some new actors to the "Iron Man 3" cast, is it?

The latest actor to join up with Tony Stark is Chinese star Wang Xuequi. Deadline reports that Xuequi will play the part of Doctor Wu, a new character introduced in Shane Black's third "Iron Man" film. His casting comes as Marvel Studios and Dmg Entertainment team up to shoot portions of "Iron Man 3" in Beijing this week.

It was previously reported that Xuequi would be joining the "Iron Man" cast as Chen Lu, a scientist who ultimately becomes the villainous Radioactive Man. Those reports are untrue, according to what Deadline was told; Xuequi's character "is not a huge part."

Xuequi joins an impressive cast list that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes,...

New Iron Man 3 Photos Feature Wang Xueqi
Here's a couple of new photos from Iron Man 3 featuring veteran Chinese actor Wang Xueqi, who was recently confirmed to play a new character named Dr. Wu in the film. It was previously speculated that he would play Chen Lu/Radioactive Man, but it doesn't look like that's the case. Apparently the role will be small a small one, unless something is being hidden from the fans. The photos feature the actor with Robert Downey Jr., Gweneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle.

Xueqi is considered the Chinese Sean Connery, and has had a successful 25 years, appearing in films such as Yellow Earth (1984) and The Big Parade (1986), Huang Jianxin’s Samsara, and Zhang Yimou’s Codename Cougar (1989), and more recently the award-winning Forever Enthralled (2008) and Bodyguards and Assassins (2009).

The movie will start shooting in Beijing, China today Monday, December 10th.

‘Iron Man 3′ Begins Filming in China; Wang Xueqi Not Playing Radioactive Man?
The big baddie in Iron Man 3 is, of course, Sir Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, but other villainous sorts from the comics – like Eric Savin (James Badge Dale) and Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) – are appearing in an integral (if limited) capacity. On the hero’s side, new franchise additions include potential future S.H.I.E.L.D. employee Maya Hansen (Rebecca Hall) - but not Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) Avengers ally Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), sadly.

IM3 rumors point to Stephanie Szostak cameoing as Janet van Dyne (Wasp), as lead-in to having an expanded role in The Avengers 2. Similarly, Wang Xueqi is reported to have met with executive producer Dan Mintz about the role of Chen Lu (Radioactive Man) after Andy Lau stepped away from the Marvel project.

Co-writer/director Shane Black ...

'Iron Man 3' casts top Chinese actor as Marvel ramps up for more shooting
The Big Parade (1925)
Already several months into production, Marvel has just announced the addition of a new cast member to "Iron Man 3." Chinese actor Wang Xuequi ("Yellow Earth," "The Big Parade") has joined the superhero follow-up as a supporting character named Dr. Wu, according to Deadline. Though Xuequi's involvement has been rumored for awhile now, word was that he would be playing Chen Lu, also known as the supervillain Radioactive Man (a role that Hong Kong singer/actor Andy Lau was previously reported to have backed out of). However, Wu appears to be a different character altogether. Marvel will begin a weeklong shoot in...

Iron Man 3 is set to hit the big screen next May, kicking off what is sure to be an incredible Phase Two in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With its release now on the horizon, Deadline are reporting that Marvel have been getting ready for a week’s shooting in Mainland China, with filming beginning on Monday in Beijing.

Part of these new scenes will involve Wang Xueqi, who has just been announced as joining the cast as ‘Dr. Wu’, which is believed to be the same scientist character that Andy Lau had been circling earlier in the year, as that of Chen Lu, the civilian alias of Radioactive Man.

Along with the announcement, a new image and promo image have debuted,...

Bodyguards And Assassins Star Wang Xueqi Joins Iron Man 3
Deadline is reporting that veteran Chinese actor Wang Xueqi, who starred alongside Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse and Leon Lai in Teddy Chen's 2009 film Bodyguards And Assassins, has been cast in Shane Black's Iron Man 3. Wang's name has long been associated with the Marvel/Dmg co-production, which will resume filming in Beijing on Monday, but the news is apparently now official. According to the report, Wang will be taking on the "villainous" role of Dr. Wu, rather than that of Chen Lu, which actor Andy Lau was at one time connected to, and is the alter-ego of villain Radioactive Man.Wang will appear opposite Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce and Sir Ben Kingsley, among others, in the latest installment of Marvel's multi-faceted superhero juggernaut....

Iron Man 3: Wang Xuequi Offcially Cast As ‘Dr Wu’; Filming In Beijing Begins Monday
According to Deadline, after prepping the shoot for a week in Mainland China, Marvel will begin filming scenes for Iron Man 3 in Beijing on Monday, and veteran Chinese actor Wang Xuequi has officially been cast as Dr Wu - a slight variation on 'Chen Lu' who he was previously rumored to be playing. Apparently the character was originally going to be played by Andy Lau until he had to back out, and was thought to be an ally to Tony Stark. But when it leaked that the character's name was Chen Lu - who in the comics becomes Radioactive Man - it was assumed he must be a villain, and Deadline have also confirmed this, saying Xuequi will have a villainous role, but that it is "not a huge part". We don't know if Lu will actually transform into Radioactive man in the movie of course. Xuequi...

‘Iron Man 3′ Casts China’s Wang Xuequi As New ‘Dr Wu’: Beijing Filming Starts Monday
Xueqi Wang in Warriors of Heaven and Earth (2003)
Exclusive: Marvel starts filming several Iron Man 3 scenes in Beijing on Monday. And I’ve learned from my Chinese-based movie biz sources that the studio has just cast leading Chinese actor Wang Xueqi as a new character playing “Dr. Wu”. The highly secretive Marvel has been prepping for the shoot for a week in Mainland China. Dmg Entertainment is Iron Man 3’s Chinese distributor, and is working to help staff the shoot on the ground. Marvel still intends to file for co-production status – but apparently they have a permit to film and are ready to go on that front. It was rumored a few months ago that Hong Kong actor Andy Lau would be joining Iron Man 3 as an ally of billionaire inventor Tony Stark, but he quickly backed out. Then several online comic book sites claimed 64-year-old Xueqi would be a last minute addition taking on...

Wang Xueqi to Set the Screen Aglow in 'Iron Man 3'
Yes, the Radioactive Man.Although I still have my misgivings about Iron Man 2, I still have a glimmer of hope for the new adventure starring everyone’s favorite bucket head. Besides, everyone knows that The Mandarin is a way better villain than Whiplash anyways. And what does every good superhero sequel need? More villains!

It’s reported by Chinesefilms.cn via Mtime.com that Wang Xueqi be joining the Marvel cinematic universe as Chen Lu, who also goes by the name of Radioactive Man. Not to be confused with the comic book superhero of the same name from The Simpsons.

‘Iron Man 3’ Adds Wang Xueqi To Cast Mid-Production
Though the film’s been shooting all summer, it looks like there’s still one more character for Tony Stark to meet in his latest return to the screen, as Wang Xueqi has been confirmed to join the cast of Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3.

66-year-old Xueqi will play Chen Lu, a former scientist who eventually becomes the villain Radioactive Man in the comics. His comicbook counterpart was often called on for aid by The Mandarin (played in the film by Ben Kingsley). Hong Kong singer/actor Andy Lau was originally in talks for Xueqi’s role before dropping out due to the birth of his child.

I’m still not sure about having too many villainous characters in the film, as former director Jon Favreau‘s biggest failure with IM2 was a surplus of baddies. Ashley Hamilton and James Badge Dale‘s characters in the triquel were also villains in the comics,...

Wang Xueqi to Play “Radioactive Man” in “Iron Man 3″?
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, and Paul Bettany in Iron Man 3 (2013)
According to Mtime.com, Wang Xueqi was seen chatting with Iron Man 3 producer Dan Mintz in Beijing. This has led to chatter that the 66 year old actor would play Chen Lu, a role that was previously linked with Andy Lau, who had to drop out. Chen Lu, to comic book aficionados, becomes Radioactive Man, who works for the Mandarin. It’s been rumored that the Radioactive Man would appear in the post-credits scene in Iron Man 3, which would also feature Ant-Man. Nobody knows for sure, at this point.

Xueqi is a long time Chinese actor, who’s had a long career, and appeared in films like The Red Suit and Bodyguards And Assassins.

Iron Man 3, directed by Shane Black, stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Jon Favreau, William Sadler, Ashley Hamilton, Dale Dickey and James Badge Dale.

Iron Man 3: Wang Xueqi cast as Radioactive Man; Marvel trademarks hint at Iron Patriot; Guy Pearce role just a cameo
Iron Man 3 has been filming since the end of May - with the start of production officially announced a few days into June - and a few fresh pieces of information have now escaped from the secretive set.

Chinese Films reports that Wang Xueqi has been a last-minute addition to director Shane Black's cast.

The 66-year-old actor (pictured above and below) is in negotiations for the role of Chen Lu, a scientist who becomes the villainous Radioactive Man and often works for the Mandarin, to be played by Ben Kingsley in the film.

Comic Book Movie claims Xueqi's character will appear in a post-credits scene of Iron Man 3 that sets up Edgar Wright's forthcoming Ant-Man movie.

Andy Lau, 50, had been offered the role but the Want China Times reported at the end of June that he turned it down so he could spend more time with his newborn daughter.

Could Iron Man 3 Introduce Radioactive Man Into Marvel’s Universe?
Despite production nearing an end on Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, we still have a bit of late casting news to share.

As a result of Andy Lau’s departure from the film, Screen Rant is reporting that actor Xueqi Wang has been cast to fill the void after discussing Lau’s open role with producer Dan Mintz over some tea. Sources expect the announcement to be released soon, with Wang to shoot this month.

As previously mentioned, Andy Lau had been cast as a scientist in Black’s upcoming film, playing a role that would appear numerous times in the ever-growing Marvel universe.

Details emerged back when Edgar Wright was rumored to be shooting the Iron Man 3 post-credit scene that the character in question would be Chen Lu (aka Radioactive Man), which would connect with the future story on Wright’s own Marvel film, Ant-Man.

Iron Man 3 - Wang Xueqi to play Radioactive Man?
Earlier this summer Andy Lau was cast in Iron Man 3 as a scientist who helps out Tony Stark. Unfortunately he had to drop out and in a recent report from Chinesefilms.cn he has been replaced by actor Wang Xueqi. It also looks like there's more to the character he plays then we previously thought.

We've learned that the name of the character is Chen Lu, China's foremost researcher in nuclear radiation and its effect on humans. He's also known as Radioactive Man, and has worked for the Mandarin several times in the comics. So, I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing Radioactive Man in the movie! Not sure how much help he'll be to Stark if he's working for the villain.

The movie is being directed by Shane Black, and Xueqi joins Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce,...

'Iron Man 3' Armors Up With New Radioactive Rumors
Iron Man already owns seven suits of armor. What's forty more between friends?

A new rumor is floating around suggesting that Tony Stark isn't just getting the one requisite armor upgrade for "Iron Man 3," but a walloping 40 new suits to his name. How and why does our hero make such a massive change to his arsenal? The answer falls firmly under spoiler territory, so read on at your own risk!

According to Latino Review, the new armor unveiled at Comic-Con isn't the Mark VIII armor, but the Mark Xlvii. Tony develops this suit in response to the Extremis-endowed foes he's up against in "Iron Man 3." Basically, Tony can use the Mark Xlvii "to control multiple Iron Man suits," as many as 40, giving him an army of human-free Iron Men all under his direct supervision. Forty high-tech armored soldiers all controlled by one eccentric egomaniacal billionaire? Precisely what the world needs!

Iron Man 3 Exclusive: Mark Xlvii Armor
Hello Marvelites!

Tony Stark is a tech geek engineer at heart, tirelessly labeling his creations and poking at weak spots to find improvements. In the films, Robert Downey Jr. always seems to have a secret new toy up his sleeve, right up to ‘Iron Man 3’s’ Extremis-enhanced abilities to control his armor. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that there’s more to ‘Iron Man 3′s’ tech than we expected.

Marvel was happy to show off concept art of the suit being used as just a single repulsor glove, then let Robert Downey Jr do a little Comic Con dance with the actual prop on as new armor sat on rotating display in Hall H. You’ve seen pictures by now. A muted, almost cream colored gold has replaced the bold yellow of the previous suits. It was displayed with the other armors behind it in order. There...

Wang Xueqi Joining Iron Man 3 As Radioactive Man?
First spotted over at Comic Book, a last-minute addition to the ensemble cast of Marvel's Shane Black-directed third Iron Man installment has been revealed. After being snapped in a photo with the film's chief producer, sources from the Chinese actor's camp and Mtime.com can confirm that it's Wang Xueqi who's joining the film. The site reports that the 66-year-old actor will portray Chen Lu, who was a scientist before becoming the villain known as Radioactive Man. In the comics, he was often employed by The Mandarin, played by Sir Ben Kingsley. While not reported, Hong Kong singer/actor Andy Lau was originally up for Xueqi's role, which was described as an ally of Tony Stark. However, Lau had to drop the role wanting to spend time with his family. It's also worth noting that Chen Lu is said to feature in the post-credits scene of Iron Man 3,...

Ant-Man to Appear in Iron Man 3 Post-Credits Scene?
Outside of sequels to "Iron Man," "Captain America," "Thor" and "The Avengers," Marvel is planning two more movies for release before "The Avengers 2." Many believe that "Ant-Man" and "Shield" will be those movies, and today we have a bit of news backing that up. Spoilers Ahead: Before dropping out of "Iron Man 3," Andy Lau was cast to play a character described as a "good guy" scientist, a version of Chen Lu (Radioactive Man), who is a nuclear physicist working for China and a villain working for The Mandarin. In the comics, Henry Pym (Ant-Man) fought and defeated Radioactive Man, but years later, Chen Lu was no longer villainous and teamed with Pym to build a prison for super-powered people during the Marvel Civil War. ScreenRant has learned that because of this connection, Ant-Man will likely be introduced in the "Iron Man 3" post-credits scene, which will be directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead,...
