Goldilocks And The Three Bears: Death And Porridge (2024)
Image
Craig Rees offers a fresh and darkly creative take on the classic children’s story with his latest horror project, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Death and Porridge.” This film blends dark fantasy and horror, creating an experience that is both intriguing and unsettling.

The movie opens with a dreamlike flashback sequence that effectively sets the eerie tone. From there, we follow the characters to the infamous house in the woods, a setting that Rees transforms into a character of its own. Visually, the film impresses with its dark, atmospheric cinematography that captures the creepy beauty of the forest and the house. The score, albeit a little disjointed, enhances the tension throughout.

Reminiscent of home invasion classics such as Bryan Bertino’s “The Strangers” (2008), the movie blends tension and weirdness while utilizing practical techniques to create a disturbingly real experience. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to overlook the lackluster performances...

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Gets a Slasher Makeover
Image
The upcoming horror slasher Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Death and Porridge puts a horror twist to the classic children's story with a slasher flick akin to The Purge and The Strangers.

The original story of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" was nightmare fuel for disobedient children until English author Robert Southey adapted it into the cheery fairytale classic. While "Goldilocks'" themes have remained intact across countless adaptations and plot tweaks, few ventured to put a horror twist to the tale. Versions of the story exist in the public domain, though, which makes it easier for filmmakers to reimagine the characters as they see fit. With Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Death and Porridge securing multiple buyers for release (per Variety), the slasher fairytale is set to join the staple fare of horror releases recently popularized by Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Director Tammi Sutton Talks 'Isle of Dogs' plus Exclusive Stills!
Isle of Dogs (2010)
With director Tammi Sutton’s much-buzzed about and award-winning feature Isle of Dogs premiering in Los Angeles this coming Saturday night at the New Beverly Cinema (7165 West Beverly Blvd.), we caught up with the filmmaker to discuss her thoughts on the premiere and feature, as well as those on Whispers, her latest project, and more.

“I'm excited to announce my feature film Isle of Dogs is playing at The New Beverly,” Sutton, who also executive produced from a script by Sean Hogan, told us of the L.A. bow of her bloody, British crime-thriller. Isle of Dog stars Andrew Howard (I Spit On Your Grave) as a violent gangster who finds himself embroiled in a love triangle with his Russian trophy-wife Nadia (Hostel actress Barbara Nedeljakova), and a small-time hood (Edward Hogg).

“As a filmmaker, on a very personal level, I had always dreamed of filming something in England,” Sutton told us.
