Stoned Friends Freak Out Comedy 'Nuked' Trailer with Justin Bartha
Image
"We're gonna be okay, right?" "I hope so... it would suck if we werent." Quiver Distribution has unveiled an official trailer for an absurd new comedy called Nuked, about a group of friends who get super stoned. The title isn't really a pun on being high, it's actually related to the story and what happens while they're high. This premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival and will be released this summer on VOD for everyone to also get stoned and watch. A group of friends gets together for a cannabis-infused, technology free, dinner party only to learn a bomb is headed right for them. This seems to be a riff on that Hawaii nuclear missile freak out from 2018, where they accidentally announced that a missile was on the way for 30 minutes before it was called off as a mistake. The pot kicks in right as they realize that they...

10 Movie Twists That Worked Despite Having Almost No Setup
Image
This article contains spoilers for all of the movies included on the list.Throughout film history, there have been several films with incredible plot twists that have had almost no setup at all. There are many films that give their twists away early on, but few that remain ambiguous throughout the entire run of the film. Some movie twists are even better the second time around, making for perfect re-watch films.

Films like Shutter Island and Gone Girl are well-known for their twists, and for good reason. Many of them, especially for a first time viewer, seem to come out of nowhere and come as shocking revelations. However, many of these films' twists are better experienced without spoilers.

Nuked Review | A Raunchy Good Time in the Apocalypse
Image
Nuked combines raunchy humor and heartfelt truths about relationships with a likable ensemble cast and lots of cannabis. Couples gather at an opulent dinner party and face a nuclear crisis, leading to surprising honesty and revelations. The film may be contrived and stretch believability in its plot, but still delivers an entertaining and thought-provoking experience.

In Nuked, a podcast host and her husband throw a birthday party while they're trying to conceive; the consequences are explosive. Nuked tickles the funny bone with raunchy humor, obscene language, and silly sight gags, but also delivers heartfelt truths about being honest in relationships. A likable ensemble cast overcomes the script's glaringly predictable aspects. There's no doubt about the overall conclusion once the characters are introduced and the premise takes hold, but good chemistry and the slapstick laughs go a long way.

A disastrous meet-cute, a freak accident, temporary amnesia, and Christmas — these are the characteristics of the average Hallmark Christmas classic. ‘Falling for Christmas’ – Netflix Movie – Review: A Christmas RomCom

The incomparable Lindsay is back! And for Christmas!

Premise

After getting hurt in a skiing accident, a spoiled heiress is taught a lesson of humility and the Christmas spirit.

Movie Review Falling for Christmas (2022)

Are we looking at a Christmas romcom that is formulaic and an easy venture for the production company? If that is what you expect, well then our mission as critics specialized in romcoms (irony), is quite in vain, and we will be reduced to being nothing but entertainment value arbiters.

‘Falling for Christmas’ is an easy movie, to the nth degree, with elements that have used a myriad times and full of clichés in its script, with some good (at times not so good)jokes, and thusly we have a comedy that writes itself. Now, if...

‘Falling for Christmas’ Review: Lindsay Lohan Sleighs in Netflix-mas Rom-Com
Image
Audiences who click play on Netflix’s “Falling for Christmas” will be the ones doing most of the falling over Lindsay Lohan’s much-anticipated comeback vehicle. Director Janeen Damian’s light-hearted feature, centered on a spoiled hotel heiress tumbling into a character-enriching circumstance, isn’t necessarily served up as the average cup of holiday cheer and rom-com charm. There’s a lot more to it than that. Its subversive spirit, female-forward smarts and sweet sentimentality remix the formulaic and festive, making all things merry and bright.

Wealthy, pampered heiress Sierra Belmont (Lohan) plans to spend a snow-blanketed Christmas at her father’s (Jack Wagner) exclusive ski resort with her narcissistic, social media-obsessed beau, Tad Fairchild (George Young). She anticipates being offered a job by her dad as the property’s “Vice President of Atmosphere” to give her something to do rather than spend her days idly drowning in champagne, caviar and couture.

If you’re going to do an Overboard knockoff that slides into the generic sludge of sentimental holiday-season rom-com, then at least find a couple of leads with the charisma and chemistry to pull it off. Unless you’re feverish with excitement at the prospect of Lindsay Lohan’s screen comeback — and if you are, I’m sorry for your life — Falling for Christmas won’t give you much pleasure beyond the recollection of Goldie and Kurt’s fractious, frisky rapport in the 1987 favorite about an obnoxious amnesiac heiress who falls for a blue-collar misogynist. As a model for stars with terrific comedy chops elevating mediocre material, there are worse starting points.

This sub-Hallmark dreck made by a bunch of hacks that don’t deserve to be named is the first film out of Lohan’s Netflix deal and her first feature in three years.

Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Falling for Christmas’ Is the ‘Citizen Kane’ of Netflix Christmas Movies
Image
National treasure Jennifer Lopez gave an Oscar-worthy performance in the exotic dancer true crime drama “Hustlers” in 2019. In 2022,

As a lifelong Lohan fan whose childhood was marked by watching two Lindsays in “Parent Trap,” forcing my mom to see “Freaky Friday” to understand my plight of being an 8-year-old, and dreaming of moving to New York after watching the “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” DVD nonstop, I have wanted to believe in the Lohan-aissance. Like Santa Claus, the idea of icon Lindsay Lohan coming back on top in Hollywood seemed like the stuff of a Christmas miracle. Well, “Falling for Christmas” proves that every Lohan fan’s holiday wish has come true.

“Falling for Christmas” has a simple enough plot: Lohan plays Sierra, a hotel heiress (think Paris Hilton meets Lohan Beach Club) with a heart of gold and a wardrobe of jewel tones. After a proposal from her...

Lindsay Lohan Sings Jingle Bell Rock Again For All You Cool Moms Out There
Image
It's that time of year again. It's November, which means we're getting all the heartwarming Christmas movies we can shove into a stocking. As promised this time last year, Lindsay Lohan has returned to acting in "Falling for Christmas." The new rom-com decked in pine boughs and twinkly lights is on the way to Netflix, though you could be forgiven for thinking it was from Hallmark Channel or Lifetime.

In the film, Lohan plays a hotel heiress who dresses up like Nordic Barbie and treats people like dirt. Then she gets into a skiing accident and loses her memory. Taking care of her is the "blue-collar lodge owner" played by "Glee" star Chord Overstreet. Do you see where this is going? Of course, you do. You've seen "Overboard." Amnesia plus a hot-but-not-rich guy necessitates a stuck-up wealthy lady who learns the value of family and love. Plus, he has a daughter,...

Lindsay Lohan rocks a classic for her holiday return on Netflix
Image
Lindsay Lohan’s big comeback is hitting all the nostalgia buttons with the release of a new version of “Jingle Bell Rock.” As you surely remember, the countryfied yuletide tune, first popularized by Bobby Helms in 1957, appeared in a borderline-racy scene in Lohan’s 2004 sensation “Mean Girls.” With the imminent release of “Falling For Christmas,” she and rapper Ali Tomineek have collaborated on a mall Pa-ready update to the update.

“Falling For Christmas” co-stars Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, and Linsday’s younger sister Alina Lohan. In it, our star plays an heiress who befalls a skiing accident, suffers amnesia and, no doubt learns the true meaning of Christmas while staring into hunky Overstreet’s dreamy eyes.

This summer, the 36-year-old Dubai-based Lohan married her boyfriend Bader Shammas. Earlier in the year, she starred in a Super Bowl ad for Planet Fitness with William Shatner, Dennis Rodman, and Danny Trejo...

Lindsay Lohan is Back in Skiing RomCom 'Falling for Christmas' Trailer
Image
"They're probably out looking for you right now." Netflix has revealed the trailer for a romantic comedy called Falling for Christmas, marking the directorial debut of a producer named Janeen Damian. This looks like a Hallmark channel holiday movie, with a few extra wacky jokes thrown in (that racoon bit at the end what?!?!). A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress falls into a freak skiing accident, and awakens with total amnesia. She finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas. This features a script that almost feels like was specifically written for Lindsay Lohan, playing up the "you have to forgot about someone fancy and famous to rediscover them" angle quite a damn bit. But it does look somewhat amusing. In addition to Lohan, cast also includes Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, Olivia Perez, Alejandra Flores,...

The Trailer For Lindsay Lohan's Netflix Christmas Rom-Com Is Finally Here!
Image
Start your holiday countdown now: Lindsay Lohan's Netflix Christmas movie is heading to the streamer in November. The movie, Lohan's first since 2019's "Among the Shadows," looks like a classic holiday rom-com with a heaping helping of candy canes and jingle bells on top. Lohan stars alongside "Glee" alum Chord Overstreet. In the trailer for the movie, released Oct. 7, Lohan and Overstreet's yuletide antics - and love story - are soundtracked with the song "Jingle Bell Rock," which, of course, Lohan famously sang in "Mean Girls."

Netflix's log line for the movie reads, "A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia, and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas." Yes, that sounds pretty much like the plot of "Overboard" with a Christmas twist, and we're totally ready...

‘Malignant’ Review
Image
Stars: Annabelle Wallis, Maddie Hasson, George Young, Michole Briana White, Jacqueline McKenzie, Jake Abel, Ingrid Bisu | Written by Ingrid Bisu, James Wan, Akela Cooper | Directed by James Wan

The latest horror flick from director James Wan, Malignant is a bizarre mixture of the brilliant and the terrible. It’s hard to think of a comparable film that hits both the highs and the lows that Malignant does. As a result, it’s entirely possible that you’ll love it and hate it in equal measure.

The film begins with a terribly acted prologue in which an unseen entity kills lots of people in a hospital and a po-faced doctor declares, “It’s time to cut out the cancer!” We then cut to the present day, where heavily pregnant Madison (Annabelle Wallis) is beaten by her abusive husband (Jake Abel), so badly that the back of her head bleeds profusely.

Later that night,...
