It has been 14 years since Bejoy Nambiar’s Shaitan hit the big screen. Subhash K Jha looks back at the drama and talks with the director about making the film.

The music video of the song Re bawree, from the recent Ott-released film Taish, released on Monday. The song features the voice of Sona Mohapatra.

"This music video is a homage to women and independent artistes. I hope viewers shower the same love as they did for 'Taish'. The video is shot beautifully and with Sona's soulful voice, it is the perfect combination," said Nambiar.

The video is directed by Sheetal Menon, and has singer Sona Mohapatra, Odissi dancer Daksha Mashruwala, model Yasmin Ponnappa, actress Nithya Shri and Anwita Bhandari.

Said Menon: "The video brings powerful and inspiring women to the centrestage of storytelling."

Wazir has opened to a heartening response and its director Bejoy Nambiar is very happy. The reviews have been mixed but Bejoy is unperturbed. "That's how it has always been with my films. I am told the box office numbers are good. And that's what counts."

Just before Wazir released Bejoy married his steady girlfriend Sheetal Menon.

And life couldn't look any better for this director of dark urban tales. Interestingly Sheetal figured in the cast of Bejoy's first two films Shaitaan and David but not in Wazir. "That's because she got busy with wedding plans," says the newly-married filmmaker who has already moved on to his new project.

"It's web-series for ErosNow. There will be 12 short films, all unrelated, but each with a spin at the end," reveals Bejoy who has also done an hour-long film in and Indo-Pak omnibus produced by Shiija Kejriwal on behalf of the Zee channel.

Bejoy Nambiar who made his directorial debut in Bollywood with Kalki Koechlin starrer Shaitaan, recently tied the knot with girlfriend Sheetal Menon. The wedding that was held at Kairali Heritage in Kochi, was a private affair attended by only family and close friends. The Kerala style wedding had the couple dressed in a Malayali ethnic attire with Bejoy sporting the traditional mundhu veshti and Sheetal in a cream and gold saree. From what we hear, the couple has taken off to Europe for their honeymoon and will bring in the New Year in there. Apparently, Bejoy met Sheetal on the sets of his Bollywood debut Shaitaan and since then the two have been dating. Bejoy was previously married to Juhi Babbar in 2007 and the couple parted ways in 2007. On the film front, Bejoy will soon return for the promotions of his upcoming directorial Wazir starring Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and Aditi Rao Hydari.

This is epic. Not jumping on to Balan's lips must have been a frustrating time for Emraan Hashmi in Hak. It's his haq, you see, of smooching every heroine he is paired up with. In a few films he has also flaunted this 'license' he has been supposedly given by over-enthusiastic directors and ever-willing heroines with some cheesy lines. Every time in Hak, he has gotten dangerously close to Vidya Balan's lips, and then like a good boy, gone for a traditional hug.

Surely, he must be feeling that this was adhuri shooting.

Speaking of Vidya Balan, she is not averse to kissing, or is in anyway a bad kisser.

Bejoy Nambiar has been left with no choice but to film the three stories of his new film David in reverse. He has just completed the third story featuring Tamil star Vikram and Tabu. Now he moves into the second story this July with Vinay Virmani and Lara Dutta in the cast, though the two are not paired together. The first story with Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead has been the most problematic. Though Neil green lighted the project, he has yet to find dates for it, as he's busy shooting for a horror thriller with his lady-love Sonal Chauhan. Says a source, "Neil favoured 3G, the film that was shot in Fiji. Away from prying eyes in Mumbai, Neil and Sonal got to know one another really well." Back home, rather than twiddle his thumb, Bejoy Nambiar has decided to shoot another story with a very unusual cast.

The 35 year old star had a longer ride than expected when the auto driver drove off from the set by mistake

Not every day does a Bollywood star sit in an auto rickshaw. So when Rajeev Khandelwal, who plays as a cop in Bejoy Nambiar?s Shaitan sat in one things didn?t go exactly as planned. So in one scene the thrilled auto rickshaw driver continued driving a little too long over shooting the spot where Rajeev had to alight. According to sources, the driver took Rajeev a few kilometers away from the shooting location.

The action-thriller is expected to hit the theatres on June 10th, 2011. The film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Neil Bhoopalam, Sheetal Menon ,Rajat Barmecha,Rajit Kapoor,Pavan Malhotra and Rajkumar Yadav.

Head honcho of Magna Films a division of Magna Publications, Nari Hira has plans to make adult content movies only for a DVD release. It can be recalled that Nari Hira was the pioneer of video films way back in the mid-80s.
