‘Wednesday’ Season 2: Everything We Know About The Cast, Premiere Date & More
Image
Updated with the latest: Wednesday’s sophomore season has become the latest to get the two-part release treatment from Netflix.

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for a second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered. It eventually became the most-watched original series ever on the streamer, with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things Season 4, Dahmer, and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.

Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

When will Season 2 be released?

Wednesday season 2 trailer shows Jenna Ortega on a mission to save her best friend
Jenna Ortega at an event for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
Jenna Ortega returns as the delightfully morbid and gloomy Wednesday Addams in the new trailer for Wednesday season 2. She's joined by the rest of the Addams family, including the return of Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Fred Armisen as Lurch. and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams—who begins his own Nevermore Academy journey. The Addams family will expand this season, introducing equally kooky additions such as Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump.

Ortega herself has promised that season 2 will forgo the cheesy love triangle stuff in favor of a more horror-focused season, and the trailer does a great job of highlighting the tonal shift. It appears that the fan-favorite friendship between Wednesday and her roommate/bestie Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) will be front and center this time around. I'm sure those who ship the "Wenclair" pairing will be happy to see how...

The bond between the werewolf and the clairvoyant will be pushed to its limits as Wednesday races against time to save Enid from her ominous fate.

“Enid and Wednesday understand each other now on a deeper level,” Myers shares, hinting at a more emotionally layered friendship.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Trailer: Enid’s Demise Teased As Death Lingers Over Nevermore Academy
Image
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returns to Nevermore Academy in the trailer for Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday, revealing some “mysterious and kooky” plot details.

“How does it feel?” Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) asks her titular daughter in the trailer, as the family arrives with her at Nevermore to drop her off.

She responds dryly, “Like returning to the scene of the crime. I already know where the bodies are buried.”

Watch the trailer above.

Wednesday is focused on getting where she needs to be when she is approached by a bubbly man dressed in head-to-toe purple. This is her new principal, Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi), who refers to Wednesday as the savior of Nevermore, a comment connected to her heroic deeds in Season 1. Much to the famous pupil’s chagrin, she also has a bevy of fangirls hoping to get their queen’s autograph.

Once the fandom dies down, Wednesday...

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Trailer Teases Jenna Ortega Attempting to Save Emma Myers or “Die Trying”
Image
Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams may hate being celebrated as the hero after saving Nevermore Academy in season one, but that doesn’t mean she won’t “die trying” to save her best friend in season two.

While it may be the first time Wednesday has “ever willingly returned to a school,” as Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) points out in the newly released trailer for season two of Netflix’s Wednesday, Ortega’s character has her reasons. Wednesday actually likens her return to Nevermore to “returning to the scene of the crime,” because “I already know where the bodies are buried.”

However, there’s one body she doesn’t want to bury this season: her best friend Enid (Emma Myers). “Enid dies and it’s all my fault,” Wednesday teases in the season two, part one, trailer (below) after her mother asks what she saw after seeing the black tears running down Wednesday’s face.

'Wednesday' Season 2 New Look Gives Best Look at Hayley Joel Osment in Extended Trailer

Wednesday is set to return to Netflix this summer for Season 2 of Tim Burton’s visionary reworking of The Addams Family, and this time there is more family time than ever for Jenna Ortega’s character. Following their 2025 Upfronts presentation, Netflix has delivered another new trailer for Season 2 at their Tudum event, including a look at Hayley Joel Osment's creepy new character.

It has been a long three years since Wednesday dropped its first season on Netflix and immediately became one of the streamer’s biggest hits ever. Can Season 2 follow its predecessor? With a huge returning cast, and plenty of new additions, there is no reason to think that the summer’s double-drop release will not be another huge success for Netflix – and that can only mean a bright future for the dark family.

‘Wednesday’ Would "Hate" the Commercialization of the Character, Jenna Ortega Reveals
Image
Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams will return for the second season of the beloved Netflix series, Wednesday, with its first batch of episodes on August 6. In 2022, the character of Wednesday Addams made a return in Season 1 of the horror series, and it was simply brilliant, becoming an instant hit. Looking ahead to the new season, series lead Ortega believes that her character would take issue with the popularity of the Netflix series. In describing how the titular character might feel, Ortega tells Harper's Bazaar that Wednesday would probably “hate” the commercialization of the beloved show.

“She doesn’t care,” Ortega says to the outlet about how Wednesday would see fame. “It’s pretty funny, when you think about it. She’s an outsider, but now she’s on these mugs, cereal boxes, and T-shirts. You’re just thinking, ‘Oh, man, she would hate this!’” The actress goes on to add...

Ahead of the new season, “Wednesday“ recently revealed the extended family members appearing in the second season, including Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

Outside of titular character Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), that leaves one extended family noticeably unmentioned among the lineup. The unnamed character is seen in the above family portrait, between Lurch and Fester, but we have no information about who this character is or who the mysterious character is played by.

Beloved Brat Pack Member Joins Wednesday Season 2

Anthony Michael Hall was one of the most sought-after young actors of the 80s, appearing in numerous hit coming-of-age films, and one of the members of the group of young actors dubbed as the "Brat Pack." It's recently been announced that the actor will be joining the cast of the Netflix series Wednesday.

Per Variety, the actor will appear in the series based on American cartoonist Charles Addams' The Addams Familyin a yet-undisclosed role. His addition to the cast marks a reunion between Hall and Wednesday executive producer – and director of four Season 1 episodes – Tim Burton.

Both Edward Scissorhands and Wednesday fall under an aesthetic umbrella that has characterized Burton's career, blending dark, gothic elements with more whimsical fantasy.

The Tim Burton-created series was an instant success upon its debut in fall 2022, and now one of its returning stars is teasing what lies ahead in Season 2.

Wednesday season 2 release date finally revealed (and some fans won't like it)
Image
She's back and gloomier than ever! One day after Netflix teased that the Wednesday season 2 teaser would be dropping, the streaming service made good on their promise, but they didn't simply release a teaser and hint at a release window. They gave fans everything, including new first-look images and the official release date in August and September for the highly anticipated follow-up season.

That's right, Wednesday season 2 will have a two-part release, which some fans will definitely not love. The eight-episode season will be split in half, with the first part releasing on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and the second part releasing on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Each part contains four episodes, and while that doesn't seem like enough to tide us over, we have been waiting almost three years!

I can already sense the fan spiral about having to wait a month in between part 1 and only getting four episodes at a time,...
