Sandra Louise Douglas

Alien (1979)
"Back to the Future" in Blu, Uwe Boll's in "Darfur" and More New DVDs
Alien (1979)
A look at what's new on DVD today:

"Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy"

Directed by Robert Zemeckis

Released by Universal Home Entertainment

Yes, we're finally getting the footage of the original Marty McFly, Eric Stoltz, for the first time, but for many simply having the hi-def version of Robert Zemeckis' time-travel franchise will be good enough. Commentaries, deleted scenes, a full-length documentary and much, much more come on this new set of the trilogy.

"Alien Anthology"

Directed by Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher, Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Released by Fox Home Entertainment

While not as much of an upgrade over its previous DVD release as "Back to the Future," the Blu-ray update of the four "Alien" films worth owning now boasts isolated scores for each film, all of Ridley Scott's sketches for the first "Alien," the uncut documentary of David Fincher's ill-fated "Alien 3" as...

DVD Releases - October 26th: In Space No One Can Hear You Scream in 7.1 Surround
You know we are nearing the end of October when the pace of horror DVD title releases starts slowing down. I guess the powers that be banked on everyone buying horror DVDs several weeks before Halloween. Is that true? Are you folks doing just that, or are you only now starting your Halloween viewing party planning?

Anyway, while this week's bounty includes monsters in the water and in the sky, with mostly direct-to-dvd, TV movies and old re-releases, the juggernaut monster is the one in space with a complete set in one neat package.

Alien Anthology

Directed by Various

For the first time ever, the studio has united the material from every home video release of the Alien saga including the 1991/1992 laserdisc releases, the 1999 “Legacy” release and 2003’s groundbreaking Alien Quadrilogy release into one complete Blu-ray collection. The set also includes two versions of each film and over four hours...

The Dead Outside (2009)
Written by Kris R. Bird and Kerry Anne Mullaney

Directed by Kerry Anne Mullaney

Featuring Sandra Louise Douglas, Alton Milne, Sharon Osdin

2009 – Scotland

Its that story we’ve heard before – a virus runs rampant, affecting most of the population. It either turns you into a maniac or a living virus carrier. Either way you’re doomed. Individuals who have escaped getting infected band together and try to survive while dealing with the breakdown of civilization, society, and their own relationships. The Dead Outside, feature debut of Kerry Anne Mullaney, is set in the bleak, desolate frigid rocky landscape of rural Scotland. As if living in a hellhole like Scotland wasn’t enough, survivors Daniel and April must also contend with weird wandering lunatics who have had their brains turned into mush by the infection. The infected are unpredictable, violent, and angry...

The Dead Outside: A Movie Review
Director: Kerry Anne Mullaney.

Writers: Kris R. Bird, and Kerry Anne Mullaney.

First time director Kerry Anne Mullaney gets up close and personal in this virus plagued run through the Scottish Highlands. Made for a pittance the story focuses more on the characters Daniel, April, and Kate rather than the airborne disease. Also, light on action, until the climax, "The Dead Outside," becomes re-watchable as paranoia turns characters against each other in the battle for a cure.

The plot breaks down like this: family man Daniel (Alton Milne) leaves virus contaminated Borders, Scotland for greener pastures and instead encounters gun happy April (Sandra Louise Douglas) in the Highlands. Partnering up to fight several infected this companionship almost breaks apart with the arrival of survivor and master manipulator Kate (Sharon Osdin) challenging the relationship. The situation comes to a climax when Kate hopes to find a cure, to the virus, by...
