Love takes time and work. A lot of romance anime reflect this fact, often building up the romance between main characters over a long period of time so that it will lead to the payoff of them getting together at the end. While this long game can keep fans invested in seeing the characters finally confess their feelings, some anime have their characters take that plunge much earlier.
By having the romantic leads of a series get together near the beginning, the audience is able to witness continued character growth in the context of the relationship. This dynamic tends to get cut from anime that have the characters getting into a relationship as the end goal. However, in trading out some of the build-up time, there are plenty of series out there that give viewers an extended look at what the couple is like when they start dating.

Shojo anime is made and marketed for a young female audience. It is one of the most popular demographics, but it sometimes doesn't get the attention and investing that it deserves. Some of the most iconic, standard-setting series are shojo anime, like Sailor Moon and The Rose of Versailles, and surely, there are many more stories of that quality to come.
Many fans of the genre thought that the era of creative and romantic shojo anime was over. Recently, since around 2020, there's been a lot more movement in shojo anime, with many new releases and even some long-awaited new seasons for some shojo anime classics. Fans dub it the Shojo Renaissance across social media platforms, and the renaissance definitely has many new titles to offer that fulfill the promise of shojo anime.

Shonen anime typically dominate the anime market. People are drawn in by stylized battles and heroic plots. However, recent years have given audiences more shojo anime to fawn over. Shojo anime aren’t always looked at with respect, but many gems exist that would easily surpass any shonen anime plot.
The best shojo anime don’t just focus on romance - despite the common assumption that it does. Rather, these anime blend many elements to create more engaging shows. Some even have as much action as the most harrowing shonen anime. The more viewers realize the valuable storytelling within shojo anime, the less they’ll need to get their shonen fix.

Although shojo anime is generally marketed towards a young female audience, the medium hosts many genres and subgenres – from contemporary romance to high fantasy. High fantasy anime is a specific subgenre that takes place in a world totally unlike our real world.Isekai anime can often be high fantasy if the protagonist spends most of the story in the fantasy realm they're transported to.
The best shojo high fantasy series tend to star well-written female protagonists with nuanced personalities and character arcs. Some are determined chosen ones, while others are kindly healers with astronomical magical gifts – but each of them make their anime even more epic.

In 2018, “The Terror” turned a tragic shipwreck into a chilly parable exploring humanity’s darkest corners. Sir John Franklin’s ill-fated Arctic expedition was plagued, in one way or another, by a giant, man-eating polar bear (long live Tuunbaq), but it was the fear inspired by the beast — and, more literally, the lethal cold ol’ Tuuny represented — that AMC’s drama was curious in exploring. Showrunners David Kajganich and Soo Hugh crafted a tale so detailed, so nightmarish, and so frickin’ cold that viewers felt the fear sink into their bones just as the subzero temperatures did to those sailors.
Now, less than a year-and-a-half later, “The Terror” returns for Season 2 with a fresh examination of fear set against an entirely different historical backdrop. From new showrunners Max Borenstein and Alexander Woo, “The Terror: Infamy” studies the horror felt by Japanese-Americans who saw their own country turn against them during World War II.

The Terror Season 2 Episode 1
In this new age of anthology genre series, AMC's The Terror continues to carve out its own niche with its signature brand of historical horror, creating an atmosphere of dread so thick you could cut it with a knife. Season 2, subtitled Infamy -- a direct reference to the attack on Pearl Harbor, which will come into play by the premiere's end -- tackles one of the darkest moments in American history: the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. Unsurprisingly, The Terror's second season feels more relevant than its first, a story about immigrants that reflects our own horrible (and insane) reality in which history is repeating itself.

At the end of the day Legendary Pictures' Godzilla did more right than it did wrong, and we can only hope that the next movies in the franchise will feature more of the title character than we got this go-around. Apparently director Gareth Edwards has two more shots to hit the mark.

Yes, "Size Does Matter" was the tagline for the god-awful 1998 American Godzilla misfire. Good thing for us all that Legendary Pictures is setting the record straight in the next movie. Yep, this newest iteration towers above that infernal Iguana-Chicken, and we have your proof right here!

Over the weekend Japanese Godzilla fans took to the Internet to call the new American Godzilla... well... a fatty! It's time for a bit of a wake-up call for the land of the rising pork-bun!
"Whichever way you look at it, he's an American fatty," posted one fan after promo images and trailers went online in Japan." He got fat in America on cola and pizza," tweeted another fan. "He's couch potato Godzilla"; "It's got no neck"; "He Supersized"; and "Marshmallow-Godzilla?" were just a few of the reactions from fans.
Some were less harsh about the new Godzilla but still unimpressed: "It's chubby and cute," wrote one. "It looks like a seal," said another. Others were simply more forgiving: "I'm looking forward to this. Well, everyone gets middle-age spread."
Oh yeah? Well, call me crazy, but your Godzilla was pretty friggin' portly too! Think we're wrong? Stuff this in your sushi roll!

On tap right now is a smorgasbord of goodies for Legendary Pictures' upcoming take on Godzilla that's home to some amusing news coming out of Japan and the very first clips from the movie, which we refuse to watch. Will you?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the name "Godzilla" is a combination of "gorilla" and "kujira," the Japanese word for whale. For many Japanese lovers of their country's original monster, the upcoming Hollywood re-creation is not enough muscular primate and too much blubbery cetacean.

With all the good Godzilla news coming out this past year, it was only a matter of time before something crappy hit the wire. As it turns out, franchise star Akira Takarada's cameo has been omitted from the theatrical cut of the film.
The news comes from Yutaka Ichimura on Facebook, who writes that "Takarada-san today revealed during his talk show at 'Super Festival' in Tokyo that his cameo scenes for the upcoming Legendary's 'Godzilla' were omitted and would not be included in the final film."
Super bummer, but let's hope for the goods to be included in the home video release, shall we? Also in other dubious Godzilla news, The L.A. Times posted a new image which is stunning but also has us thinking it's fan made as no one in it is running. Call us crazy, but a 200-foot tall lizard would have us running like...
