“I was there to pick a fight”: The Undertaker Regretted ‘Triggering’ Brock Lesnar at His UFC Fight
Image
The Undertaker rarely hesitates before messing with someone, but Brock Lesnar is one of the few exceptions. Both are among WWE’s biggest stars, and their WrestleMania 30 match became one of the most iconic bouts in wrestling history.

However, they nearly clashed much earlier, outside WWE. The Undertaker once attended a UFC event where Lesnar was competing, and the Deadman went on to challenge him to a fight on the spot and regretted it instantly. The Undertaker recently opened up on the issue in an interview.

The Undertaker reveals that he regrets challenging Brock Lesnar at UFC Brock Lesnar during a UFC fight | Credits-UFC

The Undertaker recently shared that confronting Brock Lesnar after his UFC 121 loss to Cain Velasquez wasn’t the best idea. As Ariel Helwani interviewed the Undertaker at the ringside, Lesnar was leaving the Octagon.

When he walked past, The Undertaker gave him a sharp look that made him stop,...

I Have New Found Respect for Kurt Angle After Shelton Benjamin’s Training Story About Brock Lesnar
Image
Brock Lesnar has been WWE’s version of the Marvel mutant, Juggernaut. An unstoppable beast who would lay waste to anyone and everyone along the way, Brock Lesnar redefined pro-wrestling in the best possible fashion. Even though he has been absent from the ring for more than a year now, the fans still crave to see him hit the titantron once again, and walk down the ramp, laying waste to whoever comes his way.

Over the years, Brock Lesnar has fought quite a few notable rivals. From the likes of Kurt Angle, Big Show, and The Undertaker, Lesnar moved on to John Cena, Roman Reigns, Triple H, Goldberg, and the list simply keeps on getting a lot more incredible. Apart from his WWE legacy, he also faced illustrious names in the Octagon, including the likes of Frank Mir, Randy Couture, Shane Carwin, Alistair Overeem, and Cain Velasquez. A man who...

UFC Champ Cain Velasquez Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison For Shooting Man Accused Of Molesting His 4-Year-Old Son
Image
In a Monday hearing, former UFC champion Cain Velasquez, 42, was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder of a man. Velasquez pleaded guilty to attempted murder, felony assault and other related gun charges.

The man in question, Harry Goularte, 46, was accused of molesting Velasquez’s four-year-old son in 2022. This led to a high-speed chase in Northern California, in which Velasquez fired a handgun at Goularte’s truck. Velasquez allegedly began to shoot at Goularte at an intersection before following his truck for 11 miles. There were three people in the truck during the chase, including Goularte’s stepfather, who was shot in the event. He survived the injuries.

The District Attorney’s office sought 30 years in prison for Velasquez for the attempted murder of all three people in the truck, though there is no evidence that Velasquez shot Goularte.

Andrew Tate’s New Lawyer Represented Chris Brown, Jussie Smollett, and Kesha

Andrew Tate has added a new legal adviser to his team, the high-profile lawyer Tina Glandian, whose past clients include Chris Brown, Jussie Smollett, and Kesha.

According to the BBC, Glandian appeared alongside Tate in a Romanian court Wednesday, Feb. 1. The controversial men’s rights personality again tried to appeal his preventative custody detention, which was extended until the end of February last month. The appeal was, again, rejected.

Neither Tate, nor his co-defendants (which include his brother, Tristan, and two Romanian women) have been charged yet. They were detained...

Ex-ufc fighter Cain Velasquez Released On 1 Million Bail After Pleading Not Guilty To Attempted Murder Charge
Image
Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez pled not guilty to felony attempted murder on Monday.

Velasquez was arrested in February and is facing charges of attempted murder, assault and more after allegedly firing at a man who he claimed sexually abused his four-year-old son at a family-run daycare.

The former heavyweight champ is now on bail after appearing in Santa Clara County Superior Court on Monday where he pled guilty. Judge Arthur Bocanegra allowed him to post 1 million bail, despite the prosecutor’s opposition. The district attorney said the victims are “terrified” and living in a hotel.

Harry Goularte, the man Velasquez alleged assaulted his child, was riding in a pickup truck when the car chase and subsequent shooting occurred. Goularte’s stepfather was wounded in the incident.

Velasquez has filed a civil lawsuit against Goularte accusing him and his family of negligence and sexual battery.

‘Nwa: Powerrr – Episode 5×05’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s Nwa: Power review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I’m back to reviewing the National Wrestling Alliance every week. It is nice to be back at the original wrestling league/body and its World Title, which is the only championship that actually means anything. I’m going to be honest with you here. I don’t give a s—t about the other wrestling leagues. I care about the wrestlers and the matches, but promotions don’t matter to me. The only exception is The Nwa, since it is the original and the source of the vast majority of wrestling history. There isn’t a moment in WWE history that isn’t eclipsed in some manner by the most fleeting instance in the glory years of The Nwa. I wish Billy Corgan would start showing The Nwa the proper respect. He...

John Cena
Goldberg’s Return on Raw Highlights WWE’s Legends Problem
John Cena
After John Cena, WWE stopped producing stars.

That hurts a star-driven business like pro wrestling. For the last 80 years, the industry was built around a top star. Lou Thesz carried the torch in the late-’40s and into the ’50s. Bruno Sammartino was a top-drawing star in the ’60s and well into the ’70s. The ’80s belonged to Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, the ’90s were run by Steve Austin and the Rock. The ’00s were headlined by John Cena.

But after Cena, WWE stopped producing stars. Wrestlers weren’t protected anymore and 50-50 booking has made the entire roster feel the same. Sure, the personalities might be different, but there’s not a top guy.

As a result, WWE has relied upon bringing in the last remnants of the last top stars the business has produced. Last night on Raw, Goldberg returned and challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Royal Rumble 2020 is on the horizon, which means we are closing in on WrestleMania season and WWE are set to commence all of the key storylines heading into the company’s showcase event. It is never too early for fans to start predicting the WrestleMania card. In some cases, it can appear obvious for a long time the direction in which WWE are moving in, as they push various characters and lay down the groundwork by building up superstars and setting them on a collision course.

Brock Lesnar currently holds the WWE Championship, and could be set for another match with Ufc legend Cain Velasquez who he defeated at Crown Jewel, or even Tyson Fury, the heavyweight boxer who also appeared in Saudi Arabia.

With Lesnar possibly involved in a crossover bout which WWE are never shy of putting on, plans for Universal Champion Bray Wyatt should be more straightforward,...

WWE Pieces Together SmackDown With Talent Stuck in Saudi Arabia
Mike McMahon Nov 2, 2019

Most of WWE's top stars were stuck after Thursday's Crown Jewel ...

WWE was faced with a tough task on Friday night.

SmackDown was slated to take place from Buffalo, N.Y. However, much of the WWE roster was stuck in Saudi Arabia following the Crown Jewel event held on Thursday afternoon.

There were rumors of flight delays due to plane issues, but other media outlets said the issues had nothing to do with mechanics. Essentially, no one knows why most of WWE's wrestlers and production crew were stuck in the Kingdom for an extra day, with hopes to return to the United States this weekend.

WWE had to call an audible. Wrestlers from Nxt were flown to Buffalo from Florida in order to appear on the show. Tomasso Ciampa beat The Miz, Rhea Ripley and Tegan Nox picked up a win and Adam Cole beat Daniel...

WWE’s ‘Crown Jewel’ Pay-Per-View to Feature Saudi Arabia’s First-Ever Women’s Wrestling Match
WWE’s “Crown Jewel” pay-per-view event will now feature the first-ever women’s professional wrestling match in Saudi Arabia, when Natalya and Lacey Evans go toe-to-toe Thursday in Riyadh.

Back in late 2017, WWE Superstars Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss became the first women to wrestle in Abu Dhabi, which is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Due to the local culture, they had to wear full-body suits. Natalya and Evans will wear full-body suits as well on Thursday in Saudi Arabia, a person with knowledge of the plans told TheWrap.

Analyzing The WWE Draft
Mike McMahon Oct 15, 2019

WWE split up its rosters with Fox and USA "executives" making the picks ...

WWE held its Draft on Friday and Monday, splitting up rosters between SmackDown on Fox and Raw on USA Network. Different than in prior years, WWE ran a storyline where executives from each network were picking the wrestlers they wanted on their show. It was a nice real-world touch, despite the cheesy acting every time they went to the "war rooms" of each network.

Let's run down the results.

Raw will be headlined by Universal Championship Seth Rollins, with the main-event talent also including Aj Styles, Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. The next level includes Ricochet, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Andrade. The mid-card portion of the roster will have Rusev, Aleister Black, Rey Mysteiro and R-Truth while the bottom of the card features Cedric Alexander, Sin Cara, Carillo, Erick Rowan, Buddy Murphy,...

WWE’s ‘Friday Night SmackDown’ Debut on Fox Doubles Demo Rating of Night’s No. 2 Show
Well that was certainly a (ratings) smackdown. Last night, Fox’s “Friday Night SmackDown” debut drew 3.888 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. The premiere landed a 1.4 rating among in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary data, which doubled Friday’s No. 2 show, “Hawaii Five-0.”

Adding in Fox Deportes and streaming platforms, the all-in viewer tally rose to 3.999 million.

As expected, “SmackDown” fared better in the key demo than it did overall. Though it was easily primetime’s highest-rated show last night, “Friday Night SmackDown” finished fifth in terms of total viewers, behind CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “Hawaii 5-0,” “Magnum Pi” and NBC’s “The Blacklist.”

Cain Velasquez Makes WWE Debut
Mike McMahon Oct 5, 2019

The former Ufc championship attacked new WWE champion Brock Lesnar ...

The debut episode of SmackDown on Fox aired on Friday night, and WWE pulled out all the stops.

The Rock returned to SmackDown, Braun Strowman tussled with boxing's lineal heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, and former Ufc heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez made his WWE debut, attacking Brock Lesnar after Lesnar beat Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship in the main event.

The Velasquez debut is perhaps the most interesting.

Velasquez won the Ufc heavyweight championship by beating Brock Lesnar in 2011. Most recently, Velasquez made his pro wrestling debut at Aaa in Mexico. Velasquez made his WWE debut alongside Rey Mysterio, who was assaulted by Lesnar on Monday's episode of Raw (now that whole attack makes a lot more sense).

Velasquez vs. Lesnar would be a huge match for WWE. According to MMAFighting.com, Velasquez has come to terms...

‘Aaa Invading NY’ PPV Review
Welcome to Aaa Invading NY, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this is Aaa Wrestling’s first Madison Square Garden show, despite moving to a smaller location in the Hulu Theater. Impact Wrestling has their roster here as well, so that means Impact got to Madison Square garden as well. This is a big night, so let’s see how this goes.

Match #1: Mascarita Dorada & Chris Dickinson defeated Dave the Clown & Demus

My Opinion: 2.6 out of 5 – This had some nice action sequences, but it was a match that mostly felt like it was around to give Dorada some-thing to do.

Match #2: Team Impact defeated Team Aaa – Trios Match

My Opinion: 3.3 out of 5 – This was spot after spot of mayhem and it made for a very fun, psychotic way to spend a few minutes of the day.

Ufc Fighter Francis Ngannou Joins Next Installment Of ‘Fast & Furious’

Talent Agency Wars: Ufc Becomes Newest Battleground for Wme and CAA
Javier Carrasquillo and Cain Velasquez in Term Life (2016)
Never mind A-list actors. The latest battleground in the talent agency wars might be mixed martial arts. Over the past six months, Wme and CAA have begun staking their claim in the octagon. In July, Wme-img acquired Ufc for nearly $4 billion. That came on the heels of CAA Sports signing top Ufc stars Cain Velasquez, Rory MacDonald, T.J. Dillashaw and Tim Kennedy as well as Mma coach Firas Zahabi (the agency has long repped Georges St-Pierre). That puts CAA in the awkward position of negotiating for clients with a league owned by its biggest rival.

Kickboxer remake: the first trailer
Simon Brew Jul 18, 2016

Kickboxer: Vengeance arrives in cinemas in September, with Jcvd on board. Here's the first trailer...

Heading to cinemas later this year is the new take on Kickboxer, that’s going by the name of Kickboxer: Vengeance. It appears to be Jean-Claude Van Damme-endorsed too, given that the muscly Brusselly one is appearing in the new film.

Alongside him in the cast? Well, he’s passing the torch to Alain Moussi, with Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, Georges St-Pierre and Cain Velasquez in the cast too. John Stockwell has directed the movie, which lands in cinemas in September.

What’s more, we’ve got the first trailer for the movie too.

And here’s the synopsis too…

Eric and Kurt Sloane are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. Kurt has always been in older brother, Eric’s shadow, as he lacks the instincts needed to become a champion.

Watch: First Full Trailer for 'Kickboxer' Remake 'Kickboxer: Vengeance'
"No rules, no refs, and the chance to be remembered for a lifetime..." Rlj Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for the new remake of the original 1989 Kickboxer action classic, this one retitled to Kickboxer: Vengeance. Believe it or not, they actually got Jean-Claude Van Damme to come back (as a trainer), and the rest of the cast isn't so bad either. Canadian stuntman Alain Moussi plays the new young kickboxing hot shot, and he goes to battle against Dave Bautista as a guy named Tong Po. The cast also includes Gina Carano, Georges St-Pierre, Cain Velasquez, Fabricio Werdum, Matthew Ziff and Darren Shahlavi, among others. I don't have that many good things to say about this, as it's probably better to just watch the original Kickboxer instead, but maybe some people will be entertained. Have fun. Here's the first official trailer for John Stockwell's Kickboxer: Vengeance, originally...

Ufc's Daniel Cormier -- Sparring with Cain Velasquez ... 'Best Guy I've Ever Gone With' (Photo)
Daniel Cormier is stepping up his training to prepare for Jon Jones -- sparring with 2-time Ufc heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez.  Clearly, D.C. was impressed with Cain -- calling him "the greatest fighter I've ever been locked in a cage with." "This is no joke @officialcainvelasquez is by far the best guy I've ever gone with." Cormier vs. Jones is all set for Ufc 200 on July 9th -- and D.C. is adamant he's...

Daniel Cormier Out Of Ufc 197 Fight Against Jon Jones
John Locher/AP

In what is rapidly transforming from frustrating trend to infuriating plague on the sport, yet another massive Ufc main event is being scrapped at the last minute due to injury.

The highly-anticipated light heavyweight championship fight between current title-holder Daniel Cormier and the returning former champ Jon Jones is now off the card thanks to a reported leg-related injury suffered by Cormier.

The headliner of April 23rd’s Ufc 197 was a rematch of their previous title clash at Ufc 182, which “Bones” won by unanimous decision in what would be his final fight before being stripped of his championship due to multiple legal issues. Cormier then went on to defeat Anthony “Rumble” Johnson by submission for the held-up belt at Ufc 187 and defended it successfully against Alexander Gustafsson while Jones served his suspension.

The 205 pound competitors are heated rivals with a very real and intense dislike of one...

McGregor/Diaz Rematch Targeted For Ufc 200
Eric Jamison/AP

With the landmark Ufc 200 event rapidly approaching, Dana White and company have yet to announce any marquee matchups for a show that is expected to be the biggest in the promotion’s history, and by extension the entire sport of mixed martial arts.

Ufc 100 was a blockbuster event that set pay-per-view and gate records for the company and featured both Brock Lesnar and Georges St. Pierre, two of the biggest draws the fight business has ever seen.

If the Ufc wants to repeat similar success they’re going to have to stack this card in much the same way, but the problem is many of their top names are either inactive or unavailable for the show. Featherweight champion and current #1 star Conor McGregor has been very vocal about his desire to compete at the event, and it looks like he’ll be getting his wish.

Despite the...

Ufc 196 Feb. 6 Pay-Per-View is now Ufc Fight Night: Hendricks vs. Thompson on FS1
Ufc fans have seen this kind of thing before: A great Pay-Per-View headline bout gets scrapped due to injury and the top undercard fight just doesn’t have the luster for PPV. That’s the case for what was originally scheduled to be the Feb. 6 Ufc 196: Fabricio Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez heavyweight title fight on PPV. Instead, the Feb. 6 date will feature Johny Hendricks vs. Stephen Thompson in a heavyweight matchup as part of FS1 Ufc Fight Night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Ufc 196 has been rescheduled for March 6 on PPV headlined by Rafael dos Anjos … Continue reading →

10 Predictions For Ufc Fight Night: Thompson Vs. Hendricks
Fox

Once upon a time, the first weekend of February 2016 was playing host to Ufc 196, with a headliner of Werdum vs. Velasquez 2 for the Ufc heavyweight championship. Then, former champ Cain Velasquez pulled out due to injury last week. In his place, Ufc announced that top contender Stipe Miocic would fight, and fans rejoiced – many preferred this match-up to Velasquez fighting, as he hadn’t won a fight since losing his title to Werdum last Summer.

Of course, the story didn’t end there. Fabricio Werdum, the current champ, then announced that he was pulling out of the fight due to injury – but added a twist when he said that had Velasquez stayed in the fight, he would have fought through the injury. Just not for Miocic, apparently. It’s the type of thing a fighter almost never admits to, and it caused a huge uproar in the fanbase.

Cm Punk Drug Tested By Usada
© Gabriel Grams/Splash News/Corbis

Former WWE champion Cm Punk has confirmed via way of Twitter that he has now officially been drug tested by the Usada, in what is likely the first of many such tests Punk will undergo as part of his Mma career.

Punk let the news slip himself after women’s bantamweight title challenger and former Strikeforce champion Miesha Tate posted to twitter that she had been woken up early Tuesday morning by the Usada, who were on site to perform a random drug test leading into her Ufc 197 clash with new champ Holly Holm. With a fight signed, sealed, and delivered, drug testing for Tate was to be expected.

Of course, it’s expected of everyone these days, which is why Punk, who has yet to even have his first opponent officially confirmed (though it’s possibly Mickey Gall from Dana White’s Looking For...

Vince Vaughn’s Life Hangs By A Thread In Thrilling Trailer For Term Life
True Detective season 2 may have stooped far below the bar of expectations set by its predecessor, but Vince Vaughn has still caught the action-thriller bug, as today’s thrilling first trailer for Peter Billingsley’s (Couples Retreat) Term Life attests.

While Vaughn headlines the drama as Nick Barrow, Pitch Perfect 2 and True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld is on board to complete the father-daughter duo. Term Life will push the pair to the brink, too, given that Vaughn’s character, upon receiving umpteen threats against his life, takes out a comprehensive life insurance policy to carve out a healthy sum to leave to his estranged daughter.

There’s a hitch to that plan, though; said policy doesn’t take into affect for a full 21 days, forcing Nick and his daughter to become fugitives for three weeks in order to shake that looming price on his head. It’s all very ridiculous and over-the-top,...

Watch: First Trailer For Vince Vaughn Thriller 'Term Life,' Co-Starring Hailee Steinfeld
Last summer, Vince Vaughn showed off his "serious" acting chops, brooding through the second season of "True Detective." While the show didn't live up to expectations, Vaughn was quite good, and now he's got another project in which he will decline to yuk it up —though it must be said that this film doesn't look so promising as well. Read More: The 100 Most Anticipated Films Of 2016 Co-starring Hailee Steinfeld, Bill Paxton, Jonathan Banks, Mike Epps, Jon Favreau, Jordi Molla, Shea Whigham, William Levy, Taraji P. Henson, Annabeth Gish, Terrence Howard and Cain Velasquez, "Term Life" follows a man with a price on his head who goes to great lengths to protect his daughter. Here's the synopsis: Everyone wants Nick (Vince Vaughn) dead. A desperate man, Nick takes out a life insurance policy on himself, payable to his estranged daughter (Hailee Steinfeld). But the policy doesn't take effect for 21 days and he might not live that.

Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld Go on the Run in First Trailer For ‘Term Life’
If True Detective was Vince Vaughn‘s return to drama, the actor is now testing his action-thriller skills with a new film this spring, Term Life. Teaming with True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld, the film follows the two as a father-daughter duo who go on the run, with Vaughn’s wanted character having to live for at least 21 days in order to take out a life insurance policy for his daughter.

The first trailer has now landed today, and coming from Peter Billingsley (Couples Retreat), it looks like direct-to-dvd material, but it is in fact getting a little theatrical release. Also starring Bill Paxton, Jonathan Banks, Mike Epps, Jon Favreau, Jordi Molla, Shea Whigham, William Levy, Taraji P. Henson, Annabeth Gish, Terrence Howard, and Cain Velasquez, check out the trailer and poster below.

Term Life opens on on April 8th in theaters and hits VOD on March 1st.

Cm Punk’s Ufc Debut Bumped Up?
wikipedia / wwe.com

While many have speculated on former WWE champion Cm Punk making his octagon debut at Ufc’s big show in July, the heavily anticipated Ufc 200, it appears there has been a change in plans: according to Ufc President Dana White, Punk’s first Ufc fight will now take place a little earlier, at Ufc 199 in June.

White broke the news while appearing on the Toucher and Rich show in Boston, promoting this past weekend’s Ufc Fight Night 81.

That’s big news for a number of reasons. For starters, it’s the closest fans have had to a firm date thus far. The Ufc 200 rumor made a certain amount of sense, as Punk’s debut will draw eyeballs, but on the flip side, Ufc 200 will likely do big numbers with or without Cm Punk on the card. It was never confirmed by the Ufc, but eventually, the...
