Tye Sheridan isn't sure if he'll be back as Cyclops in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who portrayed the younger version of James Marsden's X-Men leader, recently cast doubt on his return during an interview to promote his new thriller The Order.

Sheridan addressed his possible return as Scott Summers/Cyclops in the MCU while speaking with Screen Rant, sharing, "I don't know. I don't think there's a question if there's more stories to tell. I think there's probably always more stories to tell. The question is whether audiences have a desire for those stories and whether we feel like those types of films have been oversaturated or they're not, or if there's a new way to make those films. But yeah, I'm not real sure."

Ahead of its World Premiere at New Orleans’ Overlook Film Festival, Bloody Disgusting has learned that XYZ Films has boarded Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism, a chilling Australian horror movie. From director Nick Kozakis, XYZ Films has acquired North American distribution rights.

The distributor plans to wide release the film on VOD April 6, 2023.

In Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism, “Lara is a woman tormented, torn between science and faith. Pushed by her husband to seek treatment from a congregation of zealots, a ruthless exorcist will try to save her soul by putting an innocent woman through hell.”

Directed by Nick Kozakis from a screenplay by Alexander Angliss-Wilson, the film stars Georgia Eyers, Dan Ewing, Tim Pocock, Rosie Traynor, and Eliza Matengu.

I was surprised that Devil Beneath managed to stealthily fly under my radar, I’m a fan of both monster movies and of writer/director Luke Sparke. It took me about five minutes to realize why I hadn’t heard anything about it, it’s not a new movie.

Devil Beneath is Sparke’s first feature Red Billabong, which he shot in 2016, edited down from an hour and fifty-three minutes to an hour and a half and given a new score. While I was disappointed that it wasn’t a new film, I had been meaning to rewatch Red Billabong since the Occupation films were released but never got around to it. Among the first batch of projects I wrote about when I first joined Arrow in the Head back in 2015 was an Australian creature feature called Red Billabong, which was described as being like “an Australian Jurassic Park“. The movie was released in its home country back in 2016, but never managed to make its way over to the U.S. But its North American fortunes are changing now, as the film has been acquired by Vertical Entertainment and they’re planning to give it a digital release in North America on January 13th. Red Billabong has been re-edited, re-mixed, re-scored, and retitled for this new release. It’s now going by the title Devil Beneath.

Genre specialist sales agent Devilworks is ramping up its European Film Market (Efm) activity.

The company has boarded world sales on Red Christmas, Craig Anderson’s Australia horror-comedy which stars Dee Wallace (E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial).

Wallace plays a mother who must protect her family who are tormented by a creepy stranger on Christmas day, the actress was also a producer on the project with Anderson. The film premiered at Sydney Film Festival, Fantasia and FrightFest.

Separately, Devilworks has struck a North American deal on its supernatural horror Lemon Tree Passage with Glass Pictures.

Starring Tim Pocock (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Jessica Tovey (Adore) and Andrew Ryan (Last Cab To Darwin), the film follows a group of young backpackers in Australia who discover that a legendary local ghost tale turns out to be true.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that Joe and Mud star Tye Sheridan had won the role of Young Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse. The news hasn't exactly swayed fans either way, as the actor is relatively unknown. But he does have one supporter in his corner, and it maybe the only voice that counts at the moment. James Marsden, who originated the role of Cyclops in 2000's X-Men, and played him in three more films, is quite happy with the choice 20th Century Fox has made.

"I think he's a wonderfully talented actor who blew me away in Mud. I've never seen a kid that young be that present and that powerful. So, I think he's a perfect fit and I congratulate him."

This isn't the first time that another actor has taken over the role. Tim Pocock also played a younger version of Scott Summers in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

And now comes word that the helmer is in talks with several actors to play the roles of Jean Grey and Cyclops. Lemon Tree Passage, an Australian supernatural thriller inspired by an urban legend, will open in a limited number of cinemas on October 31, tying in with Halloween.

Produced by Jeremy Ervine and directed and co-written by David Campbell, the plot follows three American backpackers who learn about the ghost of a motorcyclist that stalks young motorists and encounter something far more evil.

The cast is headed by Jessica Tovey (Wonderland, Tracks), Pippa Black (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Nicholas Gunn (The Hunters Club, Neighbours), Tim Phillipps (TV.s Chopper, The Secret Circle), Tim Pocock (Dance Academy) and Andrew Ryan (Not Suitable for Children, Tomorrow, When the War Began).

Campbell and Erica Brien wrote the screenplay after he saw a segment aired on Today Tonight in 2010 dealing with teenagers who were caught speeding in Lemon Tree Passage Road in Port Stephens and told the cops they saw a ghostly light.

We reported earlier today that Bryan Singer has finalized his deal to direct X-Men: Apocalypse, with Deadline confirming that younger versions of Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey and others will be a part of the sequel. This means the production will have to recast these iconic characters, since X-Men: Apocalypse is set in the 1980s, several years before the original X-Men movie.

Here's an excerpt from Deadline's story which offers the first plot details.

Red Billabong, an action-thriller about two brothers who discover old secrets and family ties in the Outback, starts shooting on the Gold Coast on Monday.

The production marks the feature film writing and directing debut of Luke Sparke, who is partnered with his father Ian in SparkeFilms.

The plot follows the brothers as their friends go missing and they fear they are being stalked by someone or something from their worst nightmares.

The cast includes Dan Ewing, Tim Pocock, Bruce Carter, Jessica Green and newcomers Sophie Don, Ben Chisholm, Emily Joy and James Straiton.

Ian Sparke is producing and the international sales agent, the UK.s Manifest Film Sales/Intandem Films, will pitch the project at the American Film Market in November. Cutting Edge Brisbane will handle the post and VFX work.

The pool of talented young Australian actors is so vast the judges of the Heath Ledger Scholarship presented by Australians in Film have named 20 finalists this year, up from the usual 15.

Odin.s Eye Entertainment has acquired worldwide sales rights to Lemon Tree Passage, an Australian supernatural thriller directed and co-written by David Campbell.

The South Australian-shot film inspired by an urban legend had its first screening on Saturday at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Campbell and Erica Brien wrote the screenplay after he saw a segment on Today Tonight in 2010 dealing with teenagers who were caught speeding in Lemon Tree Passage Road in Port Stephens, Nsw, and told the cops they saw a ghostly light.

A video of the sighting has been viewed more than 330,000 times on YouTube and some locals believe it.s the spirit of a motorcyclist who was killed on the road.

The plot follows three American backpackers who learn about the ghost of a motorcyclist that stalks young motorists and encounter something far more evil.

Australia's Lemon Tree Passage is the site of many accounts of alleged paranormal activity. The story goes that if you drive really fast down the road, you will see the image of a ghost in your rearview mirror. True? Probably not. Perfect fodder for a horror flick? You betcha.

News has just come out of the American Film Market that writer/director David Campbell is currently in the post-production stage of a supernatural thriller that explores the urban legend. You can read the plot crunch below, and expect more news about the film as we learn it.

Synopsis

When a group of young backpackers learn of a ghost which is said to appear in the rearview mirror of a speeding car, they set out to recreate it with the help of some locals.

On the new Camp TV series, a divorced camp director is looking for a fresh start. NBC is looking for a fresh start as well -- hoping to finally find a summer scripted series that's a ratings hit. Will the dramedy be cancelled or renewed for season two? We'll have to wait and see.

Odin.s Eye Entertainment is hosting event screenings of Australian WW1 drama Forbidden Ground in Sydney and Los Angeles this week in advance of the film.s release on home entertainment platforms in both countries.

Co-directed by Johan Earl and Adrian Powers and shot in Dubbo and Sydney, the film focusses on three British soldiers who are stranded in No Man's Land after a failed charge on the German trenches in France 1916.

The leads are played by Earl, who wrote the screenplay, Tim Pocock and Martin Copping. The supporting cast includes Denai Gracie (who also produces with Earl), Sarah Mawbey and Barry Quin.

The film screens at 8.30 tonight, Monday, at the Chauvel Cinema Sydney and on Thursday at the Chaplin Theatre, Raleigh Studios, Los Angeles, with Q&A sessions attended by Earl, Powers and Gracie.

In a recent exclusive interview, star Tim Pocock shared what he loves about this fun series and playing the ultimate good-guy who may get his heart-broken.

So what drew you to Camp and the role of Robbie Matthews?

Tim: I got the script back in January and I was originally going to audition for the role of Cole. I liked the script, as it was really funny and well-written. But when I told my agents, “I really like this Robbie guy,” they were like, “Well, let’s just wait and see what age range they are going to be looking at.” Luckily enough, the stars aligned and I got the role.

What do you most admire about Robbie?...

NBC’s new dramedy Camp — not to be confused with USA’s reality series Summer Camp, which premieres tonight, even though the conflicting promos certainly do their best — debuted Wednesday. I love Rachel Griffiths and therefore want to love this, but I’m not quite sold, not yet. The show seemed to want to project a “freakish outdoorsy cult mentality,” but I mostly saw people sitting around fabulously lit-from-all-sides bonfires and kids interrupting their parents during somewhat juicy sex talk. "How I Met Your Mother" has always been a little nostalgic (to say the least), so it's no surprise that the CBS comedy is inviting a number of familiar faces as the show gets closer to its Season 9 climax.

According to TVLine, "Glee's" Jayma Mays, who last appeared in the Season 1 episode "Okay Awesome," where she had a brief flirtation with Ted in the nightclub where she worked as the coat check girl will return. Could she be the mother? Mays will reportedly return in the March 18 episode.
