Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (L to R) Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina in episode, 216 of Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina. Cr. Netflix © 2020 Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Let’s start with a Netflix Original that we would have loved to see more of. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina brought us a darker telling of the story compared to the Melissa Joan Hart comedy of the ‘90s. It felt more like a witchy tale, which is needed considering the topics.

We meet Sabrina, a witch who doesn’t really want to give up her mortal life.

Bill Skarsgård's Upcoming Horror Movie Can Make Up For This 11-Year-Old Vampire Flop
Image
Bill Skarsgård is starring in a 2024 Nosferatu remake, redeeming his past vampire role in Hemlock Grove. Directed by Robert Eggers, Nosferatu tells a gothic tale of obsession and horror, with Skarsgård as Count Orlok. Nosferatu can bolster Skarsgård's horror streak, following success as Pennywise and Henry Deaver.

Bill Skarsgård is starring in two horror remakes in 2024, but one, in particular, can make up for an 11-year-old vampire flop he starred in. The horror genre continues to seize the trend of reboots, remakes, and sequels, and 2024 has many of them waiting to be released. Bill Skarsgård is starring in two of these, one of them a remake of a vampire classic: F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, released in 1922, an unauthorized and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel, and which is adding to an ongoing trend of vampire stories on the big screen.

Directed by Robert Eggers, Nosferatu is described...

Bill Skarsgård Played A Vampire 11 Years Before Nosferatu (But You Missed It)
Image
Bill Skarsgård is returning to the horror genre to play Count Orlok in Robert Eggers' Nosferatu. This isn't his first time playing a vampire. Skarsgård previously played a vampire in the TV series Hemlock Grove, which received mixed reviews and was canceled after three seasons. The role of Count Orlok in Nosferatu offers Skarsgård the opportunity to redeem his vampire legacy and attract more attention in the genre.

Bill Skarsgård is coming back to the horror genre in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, where he will play the title vampire, but this isn’t the first time he has played this classic monster. The horror genre continues riding the wave of remakes, and it also seems to be having a new wave of vampire movies, particularly stories based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Among them is another remake of F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers and starring Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok.

Hemlock Grove and Hannibal are now streaming for free on FilmRise
Image
The Netflix original series Hemlock Grove was a collaboration between the streaming service and producer/distributor Gaumont, and did not belong to Netflix in perpetuity – as evident from the fact that it was removed from the service last month. But if you were hoping to watch Hemlock Grove soon, we have good news for you: the independent free streaming network FilmRise had struck a deal with Gaumont to bring all three seasons (33 episodes) of the show to their service. Also part of the FilmRise and Gaumont deal is all three seasons (39 episodes) of the Thomas Harris-inspired series Hannibal!

Based on a novel by Brian McGreevy and executive produced by Eli Roth, Hemlock Grove follows the strange happenings in a fictional town in Pennsylvania. Roman Godfrey, heir to the town’s wealthy Godfrey family, befriends the town’s newcomer, Peter Rumancek. Recent brutal murders in the town have stirred up rumors,...

Hemlock Grove is coming back to streaming.

The Eli Roth-exec produced horror drama series was removed last month from Netflix but now, thanks to a deal between producer/distributor Gaumont and FilmRise, the show will return to air.

Netflix users confused by news original series Hemlock Grove will be removed for good
Image
Netflix users are calling out the streaming service for removing an original series for good.

Every month, licenced films and TV shows are taken down due to rights surrounding how long they are allowed to be on the service for.

It’s been widely believed that the original series developed by Netflix are safe, and will always be available to view. However, this is clearly not the case, and one such casualty will be Hemlock Grove.

The horror series, created by Brian McGreevy was first released in April 2013, and ran for three seasons. Its cast included Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgård.

It turns out that Hemlock Grove is a co-production, with rights being owned by Gaumont International Television. It is not the first show to be released under the Netflix Original label that has been removed – nor will it be the last.

For example, Netflix’s Marvel shows, including Daredevil and Jessica Jones,...

Pierce Brosnan in The Son (2017)
‘The Son’ Review: Pierce Brosnan’s AMC Western Tells Two Stories, But Only One Works — SXSW 2017
Pierce Brosnan in The Son (2017)
“The Son,” aptly, is the story of sons. While one could argue it should’ve then been called “The Sons,” the title of Philipp Meyer, Lee Shipman, and Brian McGreevy’s new AMC series almost feels like an invitation to pick one of the many featured sons, and that’s the one you’ll care about. Even if this is the case, the main protagonist, Eli McCullough — who’s more than likely the titular “Son” — is flawed not only in character, but also in concept. So the many scenes devoted to both the young and old versions of him hamper any enjoyment in the other intriguing characters and makes the first two episodes a bit of a slog.

Primarily focusing on two defining time periods in Eli’s life — set during 1849 and 1915 — the hour-long western incorporates at least three additional sons into the narrative. We meet Young Eli (Jacob Lofland...

Texas Drama ‘The Son’ Getting Series Order By AMC
Anthony Hopkins, Laura Dern, Hugh Jackman, George Cobell, Vanessa Kirby, and Zen McGrath in The Son (2022)
I hear AMC has given a straight-to-series order to drama The Son, from Sonar Entertainment and producer Michael Connolly. The network, which has its TCA presentation tomorrow, declined comment.

The Son, based on the book by Philipp Meyer, was one of three drama scripts AMC selected for further development in May, along with Goliath and Ledge 49. They were to set up a writers room and work on scripts and outlines with an eye toward straight-to-series orders. The goal was to have three to five completed backup scripts, a few more outlines and a completely mapped-out first season. Kevin Murphy is The Son‘s showrunner and ran that show’s writers room prior to pickup.

AMC has been diversifying its series development and production model with straight-to-series dramas: Into The Badlands, which was a breakout last fall, and international co-productions Humans and The Night Manager. While Into The Badlands and The Walking Dead...

Gruesome Final Trailer For Hemlock Grove Season 3 Isn’t For The Faint Of Heart
As was revealed during the summer, the Netflix Gods have not been kind to Hemlock Grove, with chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirming that Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman’s jet-black series would come to an end after its third and final season later this year.

Lifted once again from Brian McGreevy’s novel of the same name, today’s trailer ramps up the shlock horror to 11, all the while teasing a sense of closure for the denizens of the titular,...

After languishing in development at 20th Century Fox for years, the post-apocalyptic project Zorro Reborn is moving forward once again, thanks to a new partnership with Lantica Media and Sobini Films. Lantica will provide the financing, with production to begin in March 2016 at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios, with Mark Amin (Stonehearst Asylum) set to produce. Heat Vision Blog reports that the studios are currently searching for a filmmaker to take on this project.

Zorro Reborn was first in development at 20th Century Fox back in 2011, with pre-visualization specialist Rpin Suwannath then set to make his directorial debut, from a screenplay by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, who would go on to create the Netflix series Hemlock Grove. Gael Garc&#237a Bernal was in talks to star back in 2012, but a deal never materialized.
