'Empire': Everything You Need to Know for Season 2
Jennifer Hudson
To say there's buzz around the return of Empire, Fox's ballsy King-Lear-meets-Mahogany hit that kicks off its sophomore season on September 23rd, is an understatement. (It's like observing that there's a few Gop hopefuls running for President.) All eyes are on the series to see if it can maintain the level of drama, glam and delightful camp that turned it into a ratings powerhouse and Twitter champ. The series hits every pleasure point for successful trashy TV: ludicrous plots, gleaming fashions, breakout performances, and a true gasp of it's own...

Taraji P. Henson at an event for Larry Crowne (2011)
The client roster of misfit toys belonging to Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) has grown ever larger.

In "Out, Damned Spot," we meet Elle Dallas (Courtney Love), a has-been whom Anika (Grace Gealey) is keen to drop from Empire entirely. Partly to annoy Anika, but mainly to restore Elle to her status as a hit-maker due to the influence she had on Cookie during the early years of Elle's career, Cookie takes her on as a client.

Elsewhere on this week's Empire, Lucious (Terrence Howard) cops to killing Bunkie (Antoine McKay), Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is having relationship troubles and Hakeem (Bryshere...

‘Empire’ First Look: Lucious Delivers a Musical Beat-Down (Exclusive Video)
Taraji P. Henson at an event for Larry Crowne (2011)
And, the episode wouldn’t be complete without Taraji B. Henson’s Cookie storming the video-shoot set

“Empire’s” Lucious Lyons (Terrence Howard) clearly doesn’t need your protection, and Veronica’s (Veronika Bozeman) now ex-manager Mel probably needs to see a doctor.

Howard’s character pummels Mel with what appears to be either a cane or some sort of cane-shaped production equipment. Either way, we don’t see the violence, but we sure...
