Family comedies often mix humor with heart. And, before they were household names on Supernatural and Smallville, Jared Padalecki and Tom Welling were part of a comedy that brought just that. Starring Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt, Cheaper by the Dozen quickly became a family favorite in 2003, centering on two parents dealing with the madness of raising twelve children.
This adaptation of the 1948 book by Frank and Ernestine Gilbreth turned the story of efficiency experts into a modern comedy of family life. While the original focussed on the Gilbreths’ obsession with efficiency, the 2003 version leaned into the chaos of a full house, making it a timeless example of sibling rivalry, parenting struggles, and the love that holds everything together. Two decades later, this version of Cheaper by the Dozen still resonates with audiences, much...

Update: Details of the plan were filed Friday in federal court in the Northern District of California.
“College athletes will finally be able to share in the billions of dollars their compelling stories and dynamic performances have generated for their schools, conferences, and the NCAA,” the filing said. “This is nothing short of a seismic change to college sports following more than four years of hard-fought victories in this case.”
The term sheet includes how nearly $3 billion in damages will be doled out by the plaintiffs over the next 10 years. Those payouts will vary drastically and are determined by sport played, when, how long and what conference an athlete competed in.
Earlier: It’s a new era in college sports, as the National Collegiate Athletics Association and the five biggest athletic conferences have agreed to a $2.77 billion settlement of a class-action lawsuit, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Details are still being worked out,...

The move will phase out the amateurism model of the NCAA and allow schools to directly pay student athletes a portion of the revenue they help generate.

The new media-rights deal commences Sept. 1, 2024, for NCAA championship events. The pact includes domestic rights to a record 40 NCAA championships — 21 women’s and 19 men’s events — and international rights to those same NCAA championships plus the March Madness Division I men’s basketball tournament.
NCAA president Charlie Baker said the new ESPN deal has an average annual value of $115 million, an increase of more than 300% over the previous 14-year deal with ESPN, the AP reported.
The NCAA said that with “the significant increase in value of the new agreement,” its members will explore “revenue distribution units for the women’s basketball tournament.” According to the collegiate sports organization, the Division I board of directors finance committee “began discussion...
