A man’s wife is dying. This is not a new story. What is new, or at least freshly examined, is the nature of her final request. Catherine, facing a swift and certain end from brain cancer, asks her husband Henry not for a grand gesture, but for a quiet return to the earth.
She wishes to be buried in the woods of her childhood, a specific and pantheistic rejection of the sterile traditions of modern death. Henry is faced with pressure from her powerful family to default to a conventional burial.
The film immediately establishes its central thesis: a promise is a contract with a ghost. This is a story about the quiet, creeping consequences of betrayal. It poses the idea that some hauntings are not of the house, but of the mind.

Under the garb of a thriller, writer-director Seabold Krebs’ feature debut, “Bury Me When I’m Dead” (2025), aims for a profound exploration of grief and regret. However, despite its noble intentions, the film’s generic plot-driven story thwarts its effort to become something more than a genre film. It tests Krebs’ skill, and unfortunately, “Bury Me When I’m Dead” dwindles. The slow and meditative pace comes across as a vapid stylistic choice, not a conducive environment to pull the audience into an examination of the characters’ psyches. As a result, the intended cinematic dignity remains out of reach.
The film starts well, with an intriguing premise. Henry (Devon Terrell) and Catherine (Charlotte Hope) seem to be a happily married couple. They run a cutesy flower shop together. However, their lovey-dovey world is wrecked by the hardest curveball life can throw at you. Cancer. Catherine is diagnosed and said to have only a few weeks to live.

Andre Braugher passed away this week at the age of 61, and his loss has been deeply, acutely felt by pretty much anyone who had ever seen even a moment of his work. Braugher was a powerful actor, capable of humor and grace and humanity relayed through just a line or a look. His entire filmography is well worth revisiting, but his final film role, in 2022's "She Said," stood out to the actor himself.
In the film, Braugher played Dean Baquet, the real-life former executive editor of The New York Times who oversaw the bombshell article exposing disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein's long history of sexual misconduct involving women written by Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan) and Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan). In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter around the time of the film's release, Braugher admitted that director Maria Schrader did something he'd never seen before: allowing the actors to perform without rehearsing.

Zazie Beetz may not return to play Domino in the upcoming Deadpool sequel, but she will continue to be a part of the Dcu in one of its biggest side projects, Joker: Folie à Deux, hitting theaters in October 2024.
The Atlanta star was part of the first film playing Sophie Dumond, the neighbor of Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck. And, despite the enigmatic end of her character in the first part, she will return for the second one, which will be quite different.
Joker: Folie à Deux will feature the return of Phoenix in the title role, with Lady Gaga joining to bring a new version of Harley Quinn to life. But the most interesting thing about the sequel, again directed by Todd Phillips, is that it will be a musical.
However, Beetz believes that there is much more to the film being a musical than fans realize. In fact,...

The new movie "She Said" chronicles the investigation by New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor (played by Zoe Kazan) and Megan Twohey (played by Carey Mulligan) into sexual harassment and assault allegations against former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The article they eventually published on Oct. 5, 2017, was groundbreaking, and their reporting (along with New Yorker journalist Ronan Farrow's) eventually led to dozens of women coming out with allegations about Weinstein. It also helped spark the #MeToo movement.
The story central to "She Said" involves a lot of famous people, but the movie takes a mixed approach in how it portrays them on film. On screen, the writers talk to Gwyneth Paltrow (just like they did in real life), but the movie doesn't show their conversation, just that they went to her house. Meanwhile, Ashley Judd, who went on the record in Twohey and Kantor's first story, plays herself in the film in multiple scenes.

November 2022 will see the release of more of this year’s most anticipated movies, such as the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a black comedy horror movie, and the newest projects of Alejandro González Iñárritu, Steven Spielberg, Noah Bauchman, and Luca Guadagnino. October saw the arrival of horror movies like Terrifier 2 and Halloween Ends, along with the dramas Tár, The Good Nurse, and My Policeman, the rom-com Ticket to Paradise, and DC’s Black Adam, to add more balance to the list. Some of these are already available to stream, such as Halloween Ends on Peacock, while others will be available on other platforms soon, as is the case of My Policeman on Prime Video.

Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) continues to spiral in The Blacklist Season 9 — and who can blame him? As you’ll recall, a couple episodes ago, Cooper turned to Lew (Danny Mastrogiorgio) to run ballistics on his weapon, following the death of his wife’s lover. And now, in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek at the December 9 episode, “Dr. Roberta Sand, Ph.D.,” Cooper worries just how much the police might know. Sure, Detective Heber (Mike Houston) might just be covering all sides to prove that he’s not playing favorites and might not truly suspect Cooper. But, “Charlene vouched for me. She lied to give me an alibi. Clearly he doesn’t believe her,” Cooper worries, now that Heber was in his house an hour ago, with a warrant to test his service weapon. All it’ll take is for him to get the ballistics results. “When he does, he...

When it comes to rewarding the best comedic cast on television, the SAG Awards often simply go with the biggest cast. Recent winners like “Orange is the New Black” (2014-2016), “Glee” (2009), “Desperate Housewives” (2004-2005) and “Ally McBeal” (1998) all prevailed thanks in part to having the most cast members on the voting ballot. Interestingly enough, all four of these were also hour-long dramedies, which suggests SAG voters are more apt to give the prize to large casts when they’re also in large productions.
What does this statistic mean in terms of predicting the 2018 SAG Awards? “Orange is the New Black” once again boasts the biggest comedy cast with a record-setting 45 men and women nominated for the Netflix prison series. That’s up from 37 cast members in 2016, 34 in 2015, and 40 in 2014. Of this year’s other nominated ensembles, Netflix’s “Glow” consists of 18 cast members, followed by HBO’s “Veep” at 15, ABC...

Sometimes it can be easy to dismiss a horror film simply based on the premise. By now we have seen nearly every type or person and inanimate object possessed by some sort of demon or demonic presence. However, all genres are just as guilty of sticking with stereotypical tropes. The key is how those tropes are executed. Director Scott Derrickson’s latest film Deliver Us From Evil is far from groundbreaking, but it at least subverts expectations enough to create something worth watching.
In many ways Deliver Us From Evil is a crime drama with a few occasional supernatural elements. Eric Bana plays Sarchie, a veteran police officer with a special talent for solving disturbing crimes. His partner, played by...
