Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll Join Post Malone to Close Out Coachella
Image
Post Malone brought some star power to close out Coachella 2025, tapping both Ed Sheeran and Jelly Roll to join him during his headlining set on Sunday night.

Jelly came out first, taking the stage with Post to perform “Losers,” their collaboration on Post Malone’s country debut album F-1 Trillion. Sheeran came out after, performing Swae Lee’s vocals on Malone and Lee’s diamond smash “Sunflower.”

Malone wrapped the festival days after Morgan Wallen released their latest collaboration “I Ain’t Comin’ Back,” the follow up to last year’s “I Had Some Help.” If last year was any indication, the new single is likely a contender for song of the summer.

Sheeran performed at the festival earlier this weekend before his surprise Sunday night, playing Saturday afternoon after being announced as a surprise performer for weekend two earlier this month. Weezer took the Saturday slot for weekend one,...

Coachella Talent Agency Count: CAA Rules in Headliners, Wasserman Leads for Most Acts Booked in 2025
Image
Coachella 2025 is set to kick off later this afternoon, and with it, this year’s concert festival season is finally underway.

CAA has a clean sweep over this year’s headliners, as music industry directory Rostr’s annual Coachella breakdown shows, with the agency representing Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone (its music division is run by partner Rob Light). Wasserman, however, is at the top of this year’s Coachella leaderboard overall, booking the most acts of all the agencies with 32 listed on the bill. (Rostr’s list doesn’t include Coachella’s ancillary music events such as the Do Lab).

CAA is in second-place with 28, UTA’s got 21 (though they had 23 before Anitta and Gel had to cancel their sets) along with with William Morris Endeavor, which also has 21 artists as Weezer came onto the bill last week with Wasserman’s Ed Sheeran.

Aside from the headliners,...

Coachella Crunch: Festivalgoers Complain of “Dehumanizing” 12-Hour Lines
Image
More like, Coach-hell-a. Getting to Coachella this year has been more trying than usual, festivalgoers say, as many are taking to social media to complain about hours-long lines to get to the car camping area on the festival grounds.

Traffic jams headed to the festival are hardly new, but Palm Springs newspaper The Desert Sun reported that it’s been “a rough start” due to “massive” wait times to reach the camping area, with some campers claiming they have waited up to 12 hours without access to bathroom facilities.

Local Palm Springs-based station Kesq-tv likewise dubbed the traffic jam “carmageddon” and quoted a couple festivalgoers: “This is absurd, why are we spending this money to spend eight hours in a car we aren’t even inside yet,” and “I’ve seen people pass out through heat exhaustion, it’s been chaos.”

One TikTok user posted this detailed viral rant from her car on Thursday,...

Weezer’s Blue Album Tour Turns Their Hits Into Glorious Sci-Fi Camp

Family Switch Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When It Plays
Image
Family Switch's soundtrack blends Christmas themes with classic songs from various genres, capturing the essence of this offbeat family comedy. The music reflects the characters' emotions and their transformation into a more loving and understanding family throughout the film. The inclusion of holiday classics in the soundtrack reminds viewers that Family Switch takes place during the most magical time of the year.

Family Switch's soundtrack mixes the themes of Christmas with plenty of classic songs spanning several genres, which is perfect for this wacky family comedy. The Netflix body-swap film is full of outrageously hilarious moments, but, at its core, it's a family movie that drives home the importance of taking time to walk in someone else's shoes. Though it doesn't contain many features of a traditional Christmas film, the spackling of classic holiday songs reminds audiences that Family Switch is set during the most magical time of the year.

Weezer Sing ‘Beverly Hills’ at Writers Strike Outside Paramount Studios
Image
Weezer joined the WGA picket line Wednesday afternoon outside of Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. Members Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner performed acoustic renditions of “Beverly Hills” and “Buddy Holly” in support of striking Hollywood writers.

The band is set to hit the road this summer for Indie Rock Roadtrip, their headlining 30-date tour with Modest Mouse, Future Islands, Spoon, Momma, Joyce Manor, and White Reaper. The trek kicks off on June 4 in Huntsville, Alabama and wraps on Sept. 3 in San Diego, California.

Weezer Play Hooky in New ‘Grapes of Wrath’ Video
Image
Weezer are over video meeting calls in their new visual for “Grapes of Wrath.” The song appears on the group’s 14th studio album, Ok Human, which arrived in January.

The Brendan Walter and Jasper Graham-directed clip opens on Rivers Cuomo, who is lamenting having to do another weekly meeting tied to the computer screen when he has a giant list of books he’d rather tackle. He opts out by adding a photo of himself in front of his computer camera. Soon, each of his bandmates — Patrick Wilson,...

Weezer Deliver Piano Ballad Rendition of ‘Hero’ on ‘Fallon’
Image
Weezer put a new spin on socially distanced late-night performances with their rendition of “Hero” on The Tonight Show Wednesday.

To start, the band transformed the riff-heavy track into a piano power ballad, led by frontman Rivers Cuomo, who appeared at his piano at home and began performing the song alone. Soon though, the TV over his shoulder flashed on and the other members of Weezer — Pat Wilson, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner — appeared on screen to provide accompaniment.

Weezer released “Hero” back in May. Although the song itself is...

Flashback: The Cars Play For Last Time at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018
Ric Ocasek at an event for Click (2006)
When Ric Ocasek learned the Cars were finally entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in December 2017—14 years after they were first eligible—he was overjoyed. “It’s certainly a wonderful feeling to be accepted by peers,” said the singer, who was found dead in his New York townhouse on September 15th. “It’s kind of a big thing for me and the band.”

At the time, the Cars hadn’t performed since a quick 12-date reunion tour in 2011 to support their comeback record Move Like This. It was...

Why Matt Sharp Would Pass on Reuniting with Weezer at a Hall of Fame Induction
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions have sometimes meant big reunions with long-lost band members (see R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Eagles, Heart, et al) — and other times, no big reunion at all (Kiss, Guns N’ Roses). With this year marking the 25th anniversary of their debut (which we’re celebrating with our just-published feature on their origin story and more to come), Weezer will be eligible for the next class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If and when they get inducted, founding bassist Matt Sharp,...

Weezer, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz Reflect on Anxiety for Mental Health Campaign
Scott Shriner
Weezer’s Scott Shriner, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and songwriter-producer Butch Walker open up about their youthful struggles with anxiety in a new video for the Child Mind Institute’s 2019 #MyYoungerSelf social media campaign.

In a clip featuring the full band, Shriner reflected on his childhood self as “super sick, different and weird” — a kid who “hated himself and [was] scared of everything, hid under the bed when it was time to go to school.” But he emphasized the importance of finding a passion and pursuing it: “[Try to] find something...

See Weezer, Jimmy Fallon Sing ‘Buddy Holly’ as Barbershop Group
Jimmy Fallon
Weezer dusted off their power-pop anthem “Buddy Holly” on Tuesday’s Tonight Show with a comedic twist by joining Jimmy Fallon and his barbershop-style vocal group, “the Ragtime Gals,” for a late-night rendition.

All four Weezer members—frontman Rivers Cuomo, guitarist Brian Bell, bassist Scott Shriner and drummer Patrick Wilson—adopted cartoonish vocal styles for their a capella version of the 1994 hit, with everyone dressed in matching, red-green-and-yellow jackets.

Later in the show, the group played a non-jokey take on “Living in L.A.,” the latest single from their upcoming 13th LP Weezer,...

Rivers Cuomo’s Grammy Daydream
Rivers Cuomo
This weekend, Weezer will attend the 61st annual Grammy Awards in their hometown of L.A. They’re up for Best Rock Album for 2017’s Pacific Daydream, and whether or not they win, their presence at the awards show underscores the strange but true fact that these alt-rock veterans are at a pop-cultural peak right now. “Having done this for so long, you see there’s just randomly good luck and bad luck,” says frontman Rivers Cuomo. “For whatever reason, the last few months have brought a lot of really good luck,...

Which Weezer Cover Song Are You Blasting Right Now?
Rivers Cuomo
Weezer is officially the go-to hipster cover band of our dreams and we are so here for all of their music magic. On Wednesday, Weezer dropped a surprise album called The Teal Album, completely made up of cover songs...most of which are very different from the usual tunes the band belts out. It all started last year when Weezer—made up of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner—released their rendition of Toto's "Africa" and took over the airwaves with a '90s hit and somehow brought it back to life. Now, the group has given fans nine more covers to sing along to, and trust us you will be singing along to all of these unique alternative rock and pop takes on...

Rivers Cuomo Loves That ‘SNL’ Weezer Sketch, Even Though He Hasn’t Seen It
Rivers Cuomo
On Saturday, December 15th, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo got a text with some exciting news: The band’s manager, who happened to be in the audience at Saturday Night Live that day — “total coincidence,” Cuomo says — had learned that the show was preparing to air an entire sketch about Weezer.

In the extremely funny skit, Leslie Jones and Matt Damon get into a passionate dinner-party debate about the ins and outs of the alt-rock band’s 25-year-long catalog. Jones plays a dedicated devotee of Weezer’s first two albums only; Damon’s character,...

Saturday Night Live (1975)
See Matt Damon, Leslie Jones Have Heated Argument About Weezer on ‘SNL’
Saturday Night Live (1975)
An argument about Weezer derails a Christmas dinner in a Saturday Night Live sketch that found Leslie Jones and Matt Damon debating the merits of the long-running alternative rock band.

The fight begins after Weezer’s cover of Toto’s “Africa” is played during the dinner. “I think they’re doing some cool things right now,” Damon’s character says of Weezer, noting that the band just announced the release date for “the freaking Black Album.”

Jones’ neighbor tells Damon, “I’m just a little confused because real Weezer fans...

Howard Stern at an event for Crazy Love (2007)
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Bon Jovi Reunites; The Cars, Nina Simone, Dire Straits Honored in Cleveland
Howard Stern at an event for Crazy Love (2007)
The 33rd annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony treated the audience at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium to a reunited Bon Jovi, a hilarious induction speech by presenter Howard Stern, and touching tributes to Tom Petty and Chris Cornell.

The April 14 event kicked off with The Killers, who honored Petty with a cover of “American Girl.” Singer Brandon Flowers also nodded to a bit of “Free Falling” during the performance. It was followed by Stern’s introduction of Bon Jovi. The SiriusXM radio host, and self-anointed “King of All Media,” commented: “It took years of pondering to decide that this glorious band that sold 130 million albums [should be let] in.

Jon Bon Jovi’s twenty minute long speech was a gracious nod to the history of the band, with generous mentions of people along the way who paved the way to the Rock Hall honors.

“I’ve been writing a speech...

Bon Jovi, Moody Blues Turn Out for Rock Hall Unveiling Ahead of Hall of Fame Induction
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Bon Jovi and The Moody Blues were on hand today for a special ceremony unveiling the Class of 2018 plaque and a new floor exhibit, The Hall of Fame Gallery, that inhabits the entire third floor of the museum.

At the ribbon cutting outside of the Rock Hall in Cleveland Friday afternoon (April 13), Jon Bon Jovi — making his first public appearance alongside former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora — took a moment to thank the Hall and praise the Moody Blues, as the two groups met for the first time a day before both were to be inducted along with The Cars, Dire Straits, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

“Any kid who strums a broomstick dreams of making a record,” Bon Jovi said. “Every kid who makes a record dreams of having fame, and every guy who has a minute of fame dreams about...

Rivers Cuomo Is Trying to Be All Right
Image
Rivers Cuomo has gone quiet. After eight months of work at the Village, a Santa Monica studio, Weezer have reached the last day of recording for their first album in four years. They could use a comeback: Their two previous LPs, 2009’s Raditude and 2010’s Hurley, were perhaps the least-loved records of their 20-year career. As the deadline approaches, Cuomo seems lost in thought, his face mostly expressionless as he plays the same guitar parts dozens of times in a row.

At one point, he takes over a basic task from an engineer.
