The Fantastic Four: First Steps First Concept Art Reveals Designs For Galactus, Silver Surfer, The Thing, More
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is one of Marvel Studios' most visually distinct movies, largely due to it taking place on Earth 828. The parallel reality features a retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1960s and artist Jack Kirby's incredible comic book illustrations.

Talking to Variety, Ryan Meinerding, a character designer, creative director and the head of visual development at Marvel Studios, talked about putting a new spin on the team's iconic costumes.

"With the look of their suits, [costume designer] Alexandra [Byrne] and I were looking through different iterations of the comics," he explained. "The initiative came to lean into the blue and white suits more than the other iterations from the comics."

"It was meant to feel a little bit friendlier and more earnest and not quite so contemporary in its coolness," Meinerding continued. "We landed with something that felt like it was from the past, as if it was designed for a 1960s sci-fi movie.

‘Fantastic Four’: How Marvel’s Visual Development Head Ryan Meinerding Helped The Thing Emote and Paid Tribute to Jack Kirby
Image
Ryan Meinerding is having a full-circle moment.

When he was in high school, one of his favorite characters was The Thing — so he sketched him. That artwork is featured in “Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding.” Meinerding has been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the very beginning, brought on to help Jon Favreau with “Iron Man.”

He is now a character designer, creative director and the head of visual development at Marvel Studios. He is also an associate producer, and has spent the last five years helping bring The Thing to life for Marvel’s latest, “Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

The film stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. The cast also includes Ralph Ineson as the planet-devouring villain...

Doctor Strange's Signature Look Nearly Had A High-Fashion Modification For The Movie
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

If you're going to cause rifts across space and time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then it's important to look the part. Even so, you might be shocked to learn just how many intricate details the "Doctor Strange" creative team had to consider while designing the costume for one of the McU's strongest Avengers. Indeed, while he may appear to be wearing a simple cape and some loose linen, Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange actually has one of the most complicated outfits out of any worn by the franchise's heroes.

In the book "The Infinity Saga: The Art of Doctor Strange," Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding revealed that Strange's costume ideas were deceptively more complex than initially anticipated. "I think Doctor Strange is interesting because he actually has more accessories and more iconic elements of himself than most of the characters we've worked on,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Featurette Reveals First Look At Ralph Ineson's Practical Galactus Costume
Image
Marvel Studios has released a new featurette for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, revealing the huge amount of work that went into creating the world inhabited by Marvel's First Family. Most of that was done practically, not solely through the use of visual effects.

Along with some amazing real sets, filmmaker Matt Shakman wanted a real, scaled-down version of the team's Excelsior spaceship and a suit for Ralph Ineson to wear as Galactus. Both of those are revealed in this video, though Marvel Studios once again stops short of showing the villain's face.

There are also new snippets of behind-the-scenes footage and shots from the movie itself, including a fresh look at Galactus rampaging through New York City.

As you might expect, Galactus' costume design was a unique challenge for costume designer Alexandra Byrne and her team, not only due to the size but also the complexity of the armour.

America’s Top Animation Schools
Image
Animation remains a thriving corner of the industry for aspiring professional artists even if, as a career, breaking in has never been harder. “There are just not as many entry-level positions at this point when you think about all the work that’s been offshored over the years,” says Jinko Gotoh, an Oscar-nominated producer and vp at Wia, an organization that advocates for gender equity in animation, VFX and gaming. “As the industry shrinks and the demand for content shrinks, those positions shrink.”

Animation is at an inflection point as it continues grappling with the ongoing impacts of such market forces — not to mention the growing presence of AI. Schools and organizations like Wia and Asifa-Hollywood (which produces the Oscars of animation, the Annie Awards) are already addressing this game-changer with additional courses, industry events and multiyear studies. “It’s my responsibility to say to students, ‘Look, that threat will remain and grow,...

Captain America 4 Director Explains Thanking Oscar Winner in the Credits Who's Not in the Film
Image
Captain America: Brave New Worlddirector Julius Onah explains the film's seemingly out of place special thanks during its end credits.

Speaking to People, Onah opened up about the special thanks offered to Academy Award-winner Octavia Spencer, who does not appear in Captain America: Brave New World. "Octavia's the greatest," Onah said. "I'm such a fan of hers, and when the conversation was being had about this film, she put in some kind words for me with Kevin Feige and had spoken to [Anthony] Mackie as well. She's just a genuinely kind, incredibly talented human being, and I wanted to really acknowledge what a great supporter she's been of me and other filmmakers in the past. There was no way I was gonna miss the opportunity to say thank you to her."

Captain America 4 Director Reveals Harrison Ford's First Reaction to Seeing Himself as Red Hulk
Image
Captain America: Brave New World marks director Julius Onah's fourth time directing a feature-length project, putting the relatively unheralded filmmaker among some top Hollywood veterans. Onah credits one of those veterans, acclaimed actor Harrison Ford, for making his experience worthwhile, claiming that meeting him remains a "pinch me moment" he'll always cherish.

During an interview with Deadline, Onah delved into his collaboration with Ford on Brave New World as they carved out Ford's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as U.S. President Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross/Red Hulk. The Nigerian-American filmmaker recalled watching Ford in Indiana Jones films as a child and in Clear and Present Danger after moving to the U.S., never thinking he'd have the opportunity to work with someone like him on a major production.

How Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk Leaned Into ‘American Werewolf in London’ for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Image
For Nigerian-American director Julius Onah (“The Cloverfield Paradox”), entering the MCU with “Captain Marvel: Brave New World” provided the opportunity to make a paranoid thriller, one in which Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the new, untraditional Captain America, must stop a global threat involving the powerful substance adamantium.

However, Onah was especially attracted to exploring Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, in many ways the driving force of “Brave New World.” He’s the newly elected President of the United States, who wants to reform his extreme militaristic reputation and obsession with hunting Hulks, who becomes what he hates when he transforms into Red Hulk.

”When we meet him in the story, he’s estranged from his daughter, Betty [Liv Tyler],” Onah told IndieWire. “Yet now he’s trying to be an elder statesman, he’s trying to be a diplomat, he wants to turn a new leaf. And...

Captain America: Brave New World Concept Art Reveals New Look At Ryan Meinerding's Fearsome Red Hulk Design
Image
We've seen a fair bit of Captain America: Brave New World's Red Hulk (which is a little worrying after rumours he won't have much screentime). Now, though, Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding has shared an awesome new piece of concept art featuring the transformed President.

It's important to remember that we're witnessing the iconic Harrison Ford "Hulked Out" here, something we could have never imagined while watching him on screen playing now-iconic characters like Han Solo and Indiana Jones.

A new promo for Regal's Red Hulk popcorn container also reveals a new shot of the live-action version of this formidable comic book character.

"I was a little concerned about taking over from Bill Hurt, who was a wonderful actor," Ford admitted in a previous interview. "I was ambitious to find the right way of assuming this character after the audience had seen other people doing it.

Captain America: Brave New World ESPN Promo Sees Harrison Ford's Red Hulk Leap Into Action
Image
During yesterday evening's College Football National Championship game, a special Captain America: Brave New World sneak peek was shown. Marvel Studios is pulling out all the stops to raise awareness about the movie and, while it hasn't been officially released, a low-res recording has now found its way online.

We're not sure how the quality is quite this bad in 2025 (perhaps the person is still using a cell phone from the mid-2000s) but there's a great shot in the final 10 seconds or so of Red Hulk leaping into battle against Sam Wilson.

Hopefully, an HD version of this teaser will eventually be released but it's clear now that Marvel Studios doesn't want to show too much from that final battle between Captain America and the rampaging Commander in Chief.

In a recent interview, Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding explained the approach to bringing the villain to life on screen.

Captain America: Brave New World Concept Art Reveals A Closer Look At Sam Wilson's New MCU Costume
Image
Sam Wilson returns in Captain America: Brave New World, hitting theaters on February 14. To celebrate the highly-anticipated movie, Sam Wilson: Captain America #2 and Red Hulk #1, both on sale next month, will have special "Marvel Studios Variant Covers."

The covers will feature Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding's original character illustrations and designs for Sam Wilson and the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of the Red Hulk.

We only have the former for now but it offers a new look at Sam's new Captain America costume. This is a big departure from both The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and the comics and more in line with what Chris Evans' Steve Rogers has typically worn on screen.

Ryan Meinerding Reveals An Updated Avengers Suit Was Cut From Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Image
There's not much that comic book movie fans agree on, but it seems everyone hates Captain America's costume from 2012's The Avengers. Something was lost in translation between World War II and the present day, but attempts were made to right the ship.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers wore his "Stealth Suit" from the comics before donning his old WWII gear. 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron then gave him a look that would carry through to the rest of his MCU appearances.

However, Ryan Meinerding, Character Designer, Creative Director, and Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, tried to make things right the year before. In the newly released Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding, the artist confirmed the overhauled suit - which combines his 2012 and 2015 costumes - was cut from The Winter Soldier.

Here's an excerpt from the must-read book which is now on sale:...

Harrison Ford Suggests That Red Hulk Is Under Someone Else’s Control in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Image
Harrison Ford is officially joining the MCU as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, taking over the role from the late William Hurt. In this film, Ross will transform into Red Hulk, but the details of how this happens remain unclear. Ford has hinted that Ross’s transformation might not be entirely in his hands.

In an interview with Empire, Ford revealed that Ross is “being controlled” by an unknown force or mechanism, suggesting the transformation isn’t something he willingly chooses. This twist adds depth to Ross’s character, implying he might not be a full-blown villain but instead a pawn in a larger conspiracy, possibly orchestrated by Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader.

In the comics, Red Hulk’s origins involve Gamma radiation experiments led by the Leader and others. While the MCU seems to be taking its own approach, trailers hint at Sterns playing a significant role in controlling Ross’s transformations.

Harrison Ford Hints That Red Hulk Is Being Controlled in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Image
Captain America: Brave New World will introduce Harrison Ford to the MCU. He will play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross / Red Hulk as a replacement for the late William Hurt.

While the full details of how Ross becomes Red Hulk remain unclear, Ford has hinted that the character’s transformation isn’t entirely under his control.

In an interview with Empire, Ford mentioned that Ross is “being controlled” through an unspecified mechanism. He avoided going into too much detail but suggested the transformation isn’t a voluntary act.

This adds a layer of complexity to Ross’ role, suggesting he might not fully be a villain. Instead, his transformation could make him a pawn in a larger conspiracy, likely orchestrated by Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader.

Fans of the comics will remember that Red Hulk’s origins involved the Leader and others using Gamma radiation to turn Ross into the monster,...

'Captain America: Brave New World' Reveals How Sam Wilson Battles Red Hulk
Image
Captain America: Brave New World will formally introduce Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as the new Captain America to the world early next year, after picking up the mantle in Disney+'s Falcone and the Winter Solider. And his first supervillain won't be easy, and it's safe to say the original super-powered Steve Rogers would have had issues dealing with him. Brave New World features Sam Wilson's Cap battling Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford, who already seems like a formidable foe. For Wilson to go head-to-head against the angry gamma-infused President of the United States, he'll need to strategically ensure Red Hulk doesn't crush him.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Captain America: Brave New World and veteran Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore revealed that the film had to get creative to have Sam Wilson fight one-on-one with Red Hulk. As seen in the previous trailers, Captain America sports a...

Captain America: Brave New World: New Intel On Red Hulk's 'Tache And Sam Wilson's Suit As More Stills Released
Image
In Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson will be tasked with stopping President "Thunderbolt" Ross when he transforms into the raging Red Hulk.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier made a point of having Sam Wilson reject the notion of taking the Super Soldier Serum if he were to wield the shield. With that in mind, how can the new, human Captain America possibly go toe-to-toe with a Hulk?

"As soon as we decided this was the story we were going to tell, we realized there was a big hurdle," executive producer Nate Moore told Entertainment Weekly. VFX Supervisor Dan Cox bluntly stated, "He takes a punch, his head's going to go flying."

However, Moore explained that Sam will be equipped with a Wakanda-made Vibranium suit which "somewhat" levels the playing field.

"I say 'somewhat' because it's a Red Hulk," Moore admitted. "What are you going to do? We're...

‘Spider-Man 4’ Working Title ‘Blue Oasis’ Hints at Madelyn Cline’s Role in the MCU
Image
Spider-Man 4 was confirmed last year, but not much is known yet. So far, we know that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct.

Ryan Meinerding recently revealed that this movie will start Spider-Man’s second trilogy. He also shared that the first trilogy is officially called the “Home” trilogy because all its titles included the word “Home.”

Yesterday, The Cosmic Circus reported that the working title for the upcoming Spider-Man 4 is “Blue Oasis,” used by a production company called Blaze Films, Inc. The movie is set to release on July 24, 2026, fitting between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars on Marvel’s timeline.

Working titles are often used to disguise big projects and keep curious onlookers away from the set. However, these titles are often leaked, and people still figure out the connection. Sometimes, the working title loosely relates to the movie.

How Robert Downey Jrs MCU Casting Created One Of Iron Mans Most Iconic Scenes
Image
One of the most iconic Iron Man scenes wouldnt have happened without Robert Downey Jr.s Marvel casting. Tony Stark is known as the character who started the MCU, acting as the heart of the franchise up until his Avengers: Endgame death. Downey Jr. played the hero for over a decade as he appeared in over 10 MCU films. Now and then comes a special role that feels like it was made for a specific actor, and that is how many fans have come to think about Downey Jr.s portrayal of Iron Man.

The Iron Man trilogy are some of the MCUs earliest projects, so it makes sense that they can sometimes feel a bit dated compared to other properties. However, that doesnt negate that plenty of iconic moments were born from the Iron Man trilogy, or that Iron Man made some innovative choices. The original film has remained a beloved film for a reason,...

Thor 5 Has The Perfect Chance To Make The Unused Original Thor Movie Idea A Reality 7+ Years Later

Marvel Studios would benefit from using the original concept for the first Thor movie in the MCU in the as-yet-unconfirmed Thor 5. Chris Hemsworth's Thor is currently the only MCU hero to have been gifted four solo movies, but not all of these installments have been well-received. While Thor: Ragnarok received huge acclaim, each of Thor's other live-action adventures have received criticism for various reasons. ‘Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding’ Is a Look at an Artist’s Many Phases
Image
Ryan Meinerding doesn’t spend a lot of time looking back. The Marvel Studios head of visual development’s days are consumed by the question of “what’s next?” as he helps create the biggest film franchise in history. But in a rare moment of reflection, Meinerding took stock in his journey with the new book Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding.

The 300-plus page tome from Abrams traces Meinerding’s journey from art-obsessed kid growing up in Ohio, to working with Jon Favreau on a John Carter movie that never happened, to following the filmmaker to Iron Man, the film that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From there, Meinerding helped chart the company through the Infinity Saga, into its TV streaming era — and now, into the multiverse.

The book features 500 Meinerding illustrations, many of which became the basis for some of the MCU’s most iconic shots (like...

Avengers: Endgame Concept Art Spotlights Deleted Opening Scene With Smart Hulk

Avengers: Endgame begins with Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) witnessing the devastating loss of his family following Thanos' "Snap" in the closing moments of Infinity War, but it seems Marvel Studios originally had a different opening sequence in mind for the Infinity Saga finale.

EW has shared some new concept art from the Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding book by Tara Bennett and Paul Terry, and it highlights some designs for an alternate opening scene with Smart Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) saving a bunch of people from a burning building.

It seems the plan was for the Green Goliath to be the only active members of the team at one point.

"As all the Avengers were gone, he was going to be the only one left, and you got to see him do some amazing things," Meinerding says in the book. "Hulk jumping off the building to save people inside...

We Can Predict The Title of ‘Spider-Man 4’ Based on A Heartbreaking Storyline It Could Continue

Spider-Man 4 was confirmed last year, but details about the movie are still limited. We do know that Tom Holland and Zendaya will be reprising their roles, and Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct.

Kahhori's highly-anticipated debut is written and drawn by an array of extraordinary talent: What If…? writer Ryan Little, Marvel Studios artist Todd Harris, Indigenous writers Arihhonni "Honni" David and Kelly Lynne D'Angelo in their Marvel Comics debuts, and acclaimed Marvel artists David Cutler and Jim Terry.

The Mohawk warrior Kahhori fell into Sky World (and into our hearts) from her first appearance fighting those trying to invade her home. She's already helped save all of reality from a demented Doctor Strange and secured peace in her world, so now what?

Chasing a threat out of Sky World, Kahhori lands in the fiery streets of Hell's Kitchen. But culture...

She-hulk Concept Art Confirms Marvel Studios Considered Giving Daredevil His Iconic "Dd" Logo
Image
While Marvel Television (the original Jeph Loeb-led iteration) was in charge of Netflix's Daredevil, MCU concept artist Ryan Meinerding was enlisted to design the Man Without Fear's costume.

It didn't feature the iconic "Dd" logo and neither has any iteration of the suit since. In fact, it was still missing when Matt Murdock made his MCU debut in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and, based on Daredevil: Born Again set photos, it won't feature there either.

Perhaps the thought process is that a blind superhero wouldn't need or want to put a logo on his chest. Still, fans remain eager to see it on screen.

In the newly released Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding book, new artwork confirms that at least two different versions of the suit were designed for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law with the "Dd" logo front and centre.

It's possible Marvel Studios...

Marvel Concept Art Confirms Avengers: Endgame Cut A Highly-Anticipated Rematch
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe reached its highest of high points a little over five years ago when "Avengers: Endgame" hit theaters. It successfully concluded more than a decade's worth of interconnected cinematic storytelling, which still feels like a dizzying feat in retrospect, given all of the moving pieces on the board. As one might imagine, there were many ideas thrown around before settling on the film as it exists. One such idea was to have a rematch between Thanos and Hulk. Thanks to some newly-revealed concept art, we know what that fight might have looked like.

ComicBook.com recently revealed the images as part of a preview for "Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding," which is available now from Amazon. Serving as Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development, Meinerding is responsible for the earliest versions of what we see on screen in these movies.

Avengers: Endgame Concept Art Confirms Marvel Studios Scrapped A Battle Between The Hulk And Thanos
Image
This week sees the release of Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding, a book showcasing the artist's singular and iconic vision, from his work-in-progress sketches to his finished illustrations (and how they've shaped the MCU).

Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding has been a key creative force in designing the look of the franchise since it launched in 2008 with Iron Man and ComicBook.com has shared a couple of preview pages from the book.

There are some amazing shots of Captain America rallying Earth's Mightiest Heroes to battle Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, but one shot, in particular, has been generating discussion among fans on social media.

As you can see below, there were once plans for The Hulk to get his rematch with the Mad Titan in the 2019 blockbuster. It's a great shame this didn't happen because the Jade Giant was never given the chance to get...

What If...? Concept Art Showcases Ryan Meinerding's Designs For Spider-Man, Black Widow, Hulk, And More
Image
What If...? season 1 was a hit when it arrived on Disney+ in 2021 and while the show did struggle to keep that momentum up with season 2, there were some phenomenal ideas in that first batch of episodes.

Thanks to Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, we have a look at many of the character designs the Character Designer and Creative Director did for the Marvel Animation project. He was a comic book artist before lending his talents to the MCU and it's clear to see how those sensibilities carried over to this series.

That Spider-Man design is one that's been carried over to the Disney Parks, while Meinerding also explains that illustrator J.C. Leyendecker heavily inspired his work on the Captain Carter episode of What If...?

Also spotlighted are his takes on Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, Vision, and the very different - and now heroic - Mad...

Celebrate The Art Of The MCU With Stunning New Marvel Studios Variant Covers By Ryan Meinerding
Image
Beginning next month, a new line of variant covers will provide us with a breathtaking glimpse into one of the key creative forces behind the design and look of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Adorning various Marvel titles throughout September and later this year, the new "Marvel Studios Variant Covers" showcase stunning artwork by the legend that is Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding.

The pieces come straight from Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding, an upcoming art book arriving October 1 that covers the breadth of Meinerding's work on the MCU with illustrations, sketches, character designs, insights, and much more.

The variant covers pull from Meinerding's long career with Marvel Studios, stretching all the way back to the early days of 2008's Iron Man.

In these pieces, we see some familiar shots from movies like Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Homecoming alongside less familiar pieces depicting characters such as The Hulk,...

Deadpool & Wolverine Claws Its Way Back To #1 And Passes $1.2 Billion Worldwide As The Crow Flops At #8
Image
The summer is nearing its end and the year's biggest movie has returned to the top spot after being dethroned by Alien: Romulus last week.

Yes, Deadpool & Wolverine is back at #1 with $18.3 million in North America, a -39% drop. This is the movie's fifth weekend in theaters and a nice bump for a blockbuster that continues to exceed expectations.

The Shawn Levy-directed threequel has now passed Aquaman and Captain America: Civil War to become the 8th highest-grossing superhero movie ever at the worldwide box office; it currently sits at a massive $1.2 billion and is likely to end its run with between $1.3 billion - $1.4 billion.

Making that even more impressive is the fact it's R-Rated. In the UK, for example, Deadpool & Wolverine is rated "15." In case it wasn't clear, this means no one under 15 can see the movie (with or without parents) and that's a sizeable share of the audience.

Deadpool & Wolverine: New Concept Art Showcases Ladypool; Hugh Jackman Shares Wolverine Transformation Video
Image
During Deadpool & Wolverine's final act, Cassandra Nova enlists the Deadpool Corps to deal with the movie's title characters while she uses the Time Ripper to destroy the Multiverse.

The group is led by Ladypool (known as Lady Deadpool in the comics), a Variant brought to life by It Ends With Us star Blake Lively. We don't think she was in the suit, but her take on the character has still been a hit with fans.

Now, Jonay Bacallado has shared his final design for the character on Instagram.

"Here's Ladypool final costume concept I did for costume designer [Mayes Rubeo] in Deadpool & Wolverine," the artist says. "Doing Deadpool variants in the costume team was such a gift as fans and artists. It was a time to have fun, explore and just be crazy. One of my favourites, that made it into the film, is Ladypool."

"We wanted to pay homage to the comic representations,...

Deadpool & Wolverine's Short Logan Actor Has Been Revealed & Marvel Fans Are Going Wild
Image
Actor Hugh Jackman is 6'2" tall. While many agreed that he was perfectly cast as the X-Man Wolverine when he first started playing the role in 2000 -- he encapsulated the facial expressions and feral attitudes of the comic book character -- some noted that he was too tall. A little bit of research reveals that Wolverine is actually a short fellow, standing at a below-average 5'3" and weighing 195 pounds. Just like his animal namesake, Wolverine contains a lot of muscle in a small package. These stats, by the way, come from the Series 1 Marvel Universe trading cards released by Impel in 1990. The same stats were passed into all the subsequent trading cards. Did you know that Wolverine has a Strength level of 2, an Intelligence rating of 3, and a Fighting Ability rating of 7?

For 10 movies, however, comics readers had to face a towering 6'2" Wolverine and just sort of accept that...

Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Reveals Final Two Designs For The Merc With The Mouth's Costume
Image
As much fun as it's been to see new behind-the-scenes photos from Deadpool & Wolverine, it's arguably the concept art that's proving the most fun to delve into.

Today, Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park has shared the final two designs for Wade Wilson's first MCU costume. At first glance, you may struggle to tell the difference. However, there are quite a few noteworthy differences.

On the version which didn't make it into Deadpool & Wolverine, we see that the Merc with the Mouth has brown shoulder straps and quite a bit more black on the suit from the thighs down. Some red parts are also quite a bit busier on the unused design.

Ultimately, we'd say the version we got to see on screen is the superior one. You can compare them both in the Instagram post below and make up your own minds down in the comments section.

Deadpool & Wolverine: Alternate Wolverine Costume Designs Make Fan-Pleasing Change To Suit Not In The Movie
Image
We've seen a great many pieces of concept art from Deadpool & Wolverine over the past week or two but this latest batch might be the one that generates the most debate among fans.

Over the years, Marvel Studios has dreamed up some of the best superhero costumes to ever grace the screen. However, if there's one recurring complaint, it's that they're often a little too busy or over-designed.

Logan's suit in Deadpool & Wolverine has been widely praised for how it adheres to the comics. However, the McU's approach to costume design also saw the blue spikes on either side of his torso incorporated in a somewhat overly complicated manner.

That's evident from Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park's alternate takes on Wolverine's blue and yellow suit. In the pieces below, the clawed mutant just has the simple blue spikes and they not only work...

Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Reveals Best Look Yet At Hugh Jackman's Comic-Accurate "Short King" Logan
Image
For years, fans have complained that Hugh Jackman is too tall to play Wolverine. At 6 feet 3 inches, he is indeed a whole foot taller than the comic book version of the character, but would such a diminutive Logan work on screen?

Deadpool & Wolverine set out to answer that by introducing the clawed mutant's "Short King" Variant. As the Merc with the Mouth scoured the Multiverse for a Wolverine who could replace Earth-100005's anchor, he encountered a pint-sized Logan who...well, didn't exactly measure up!

At first glance, he seemed perfect; younger than the Wolverine Variant that Wade ends up with, he's also jacked. Alas, he's just too small.

Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding has shared his concept art for this comic-accurate Wolverine and, to be fair, he looks pretty cool (and is very much in line with the comics).

However, surround this guy - whether it's...

Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Reveals Alternate Designs For Henry Cavill's Cavillrine Cameo And More
Image
The latest round of Deadpool & Wolverine concept art shifts the spotlight to the movie's most surprising Variant: The Cavillrine!

Thanks to Wes Burt, we get to see some of the alternate ideas considered for Henry Cavill's Wolverine, though there's nothing too drastically different. We'd say just the vest was the right movie; it allowed the actor to show off his impressive biceps and a shirt like that would have inevitably led to Clark Kent comparisons.

Take a closer look at The Cavillrine below along with Burt's take on the Merc with the Mouth's meeting with a very dead Wolverine from 2017's Logan.

Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art Adds A Mask To Brown And Tan Suit; Deadpool Corps Revealed In BTS Photo
Image
As Deadpool & Wolverine gears up for its third weekend in theaters, more new content from the movie has been revealed today courtesy of MCU concept artists Ryan Meinerding and Andy Park.

The latter has revealed the John Byrne-inspired brown and tan suit in its entirety; we got to see that when the Merc with the Mouth was on the hunt for a Wolverine Variant; the difference here, though, is that we see the addition of Logan's iconic mask!

Like many of you, we're hoping and praying that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will don this suit again for a clash with The Hulk.

As for Meinerding, he's taken to Instagram to post the final version of the clawed mutant's blue and yellow suit. It's a gorgeous piece of artwork and a mere sneak peek at what will be contained within the upcoming "Art of" book.

Marvel Studios' Ryan Meinerding Shares New Look At Spider-man's Comic-Accurate Suit From No Way Home
Image
In Spider-Man: No Way Home's closing moments, Peter Parker moved into a Manhattan apartment following the death of his Aunt May. The hero then swung through New York City's skyscrapers in a classic costume which appeared to ditch the many gadgets typically created for him by Tony Stark.

It took three movies but, with that, the MCU finally had a Spider-Man more in line with his comic book counterpart.

The suit had only seconds of screentime but has since been added to the Spider-Man 2 video game and turned into action figures courtesy of companies like Hasbro and Hot Toys.

Ryan Meinerding, Character Designer, Creative Director, and Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, was at Comic-Con in San Diego this past weekend and hyped up his appearance with a gorgeous piece of artwork.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man - in his new suit - is put front and centre...

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Imagines a Comic Book Lover’s Dream Bonus Feature for Disney+
Image
It was a meeting of Marvel titans at San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel editor-in-chief C. B. Cebulski welcomed Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige for a conversation about collecting and the ways comic books inspire films (and vice versa).

Cebulski spent part of the panel showing off famous comic book art, and pared them with the scenes they inspired in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among them was the iconic cover to 2007’s Civil War No. 7, which showed Captain America blocking Iron Man’s beam with his shield, and the cover to the 1939 classic Captain America No. 1, in which Cap punches Adolph Hitler in the face. Both moments inspired moments in Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Feige remarked that it’d be cool if Disney+ had a feature that would allow one to scroll through a movie, and then see the comic book art that inspired the shot.

“Marvel didn’t think it worked”: Chris Evans’ Jawline Posed a Serious Threat to ‘The Avengers’ That Made the Studio Change 1 Iconic Captain America Detail
Image
The acting prowess of Chris Evans is known to many, as is his string of hit movies. However, in this list, his portrayal of Steve Rogers in the MCU’s Captain America stands the tallest. While the actor demonstrated the superhero magic on screen, there was a lot going on behind the scenes of the franchise that the fans and aficionados were unaware of.

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger || Marvel

Now, a fresh piece of information about the actor’s Captain America costume has surfaced, and it’s safe to assume that his muscular shape and physical fitness play a significant role in it.

Chris Evans’ jawline prompted the Marval studios to modify an iconic Captain America detail

Chris Evans has a fantastic muscular body that reflects the work and effort he put into it. However, his corpulent physique posed a challenge for costume designers on set,...

Chris Evans' Ears And Chin Posed Some Costume Challenges For Captain America's Avengers Helmet
Image
Even going back to the 1940s, Captain America always had one of the silliest costumes in superherodom. Decked out in the colors and symbols of the American flag, and outfitted with a shield that looks like a stubborn decal left over from a model airplane, Captain America has always projected a form of patriotic tackiness that reminds one of overheated Fourth of July picnics, mosquito bites, and stale hot dog buns. Captain America was popular enough to survive the 1940s, however, and remains popular to this day.

Indeed, one must admire Marvel Studios for taking a wet blanket character like Captain America and selling him to audiences as something exciting and dynamic. The version of the character played by Chris Evans has, as of this writing, appeared in nine of the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many now like him again.

One of the sillier aspects of Captain America,...

The Fantastic Four Sdcc Posters Reveal New Look At Marvel's First Family; Confirm Future Foundation Plans
Image
Comic-Con is just weeks away and the first banners promoting the event have been spotted in San Diego. As you'll see below, Marvel Studios is teasing The Fantastic Four with some cool artwork featuring Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic and Johnny Storm/Human Torch.

A second banner showcases Sue Storm/Invisible Woman and Ben Grimm/The Thing, with the former depicted as being invisible and the latter's profile offering a better idea of how he'll look in the MCU. It's comic-accurate and a design closer to his earlier comic book appearances.

Also of note is that, beneath The Fantastic Four's logo, we see one for "The Future Foundation."

Speculation that the group would appear in the reboot started doing the rounds when Marvel Studios shared a piece of artwork by Ryan Meinerding featuring the Human Torch back in April.

The social media post included a link directing fans to a "Future...
