If Marvel Studios had known back when it launched Disney Plus shows as part of its Marvel Cinematic Universe that we'd still be wondering about the fates of each and every one of them three or four years later, they likely would have opted for a bit more clarity at some point along the line. Then again, it has ensured that each and every one of those shows have remained in the public eye, so it was good promotion for them nonetheless.
But, as the years have gone on, that lack of clarity has seemed like something of a confirmation in and of itself. While WandaVision was always designed as a miniseries (and continued through spinoffs Agatha All Along and Vision Quest) and the likes of Loki and What If...? were renewed for more seasons, the fates of the rest of the shows seemed obvious - especially after the reports...

According to one of its biggest stars, Marvel Studios will not renew this MCU show. Thus far, only one live-action MCU series has been greenlit for a second season on Disney+ (Loki), leaving titles like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, etc., waiting for a potential Season 2 go-ahead. It is unclear if this has anything to do with the shows or is part of a grander strategy at Marvel Studios, but it has become frustrating for fans who have been waiting (in some cases) years to hear from their favorite heroes again.
To the disappointment of many, Marvel star Aramis Knight recently revealed his MCU show will not be getting a second season (at least in his eyes). Knight portrayed Kareem/Red Dagger in the critically acclaimed Ms. Marvel series on Disney+; however, like many MCU shows, his super-powered streaming show has yet to get a second season announcement.

Karate Kid: Legends director Jonathan Entwistle explains why the Miyagi-Do dojo house looks different. The latest entry in The Karate Kid franchise follows Li Fong (Ben Wang), a kung fu prodigy who enters the Five Boroughs Tournament, having been trained by Mr. Han and Daniel Larusso. Along with Wang, the cast of Karate Kid: Legends includes Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Sadie Stanley, and Joshua Jackson. Taking place three years after Cobra Kai, Karate Kid: Legends revisits the Miyagi-Do dojo house, but it bears little resemblance to the Netflix show's depiction.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Entwistle revealed that Karate Kid: Legends constructed Miyagi-Do dojo at a filming location in Montreal. Unlike the house in Cobra Kai, which he explained was a set, Entwistle and the crew made Miyagi-Do dojo to resemble the setting of previous movies. The director added that, unfortunately, the real home no longer stands.

The beloved martial arts franchise just wrote itself an exciting new chapter in the form of Karate Kid: Legends. The movie focuses on Kung Fu prodigy Li Fong, who has to deal with his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprise their roles from the previous movies, while Ben Wang is new to the franchise. With the return of Mr. Han and Daniel Larusso, fans are in for a nostalgic ride.
Of course, when a movie as exciting as Karate Kid: Legends drops, people start wondering just how much these stars are actually making. It is no surprise that Jackie Chan, one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, would have the biggest paycheck.

Karate Kid: Legends Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Ben Wang, Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, and Aramis Knight
Director: Jonathan Entwistle
Karate Kid: Legends Movie Review (Photo Credit – Instagram)
What’s Good: The performances by all three leads are pretty charming, and they do most of the heavy-lifting.
What’s Bad: The cinematography, editing, and overall filmmaking quality are quite poor, and it doesn’t meet the standards of what a theatrical release should be.
Loo Break: The film is not that long, and because the movie is so formulaic, you can go, have a break, and come back without having missed much.
Watch or Not?: Watch only if you are a fan of the Karate Kid franchise or if you love the Cobra Kai TV show. If not, the nostalgia probably won’t kick in!

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points, including the ending for “Karate Kid: Legends,” currently playing in theaters.
The most dramatic moment in “Karate Kids: Legends” is its final fight – a 12-minute sequence called the Five Boroughs Tournament that takes place on the roof of a New York City skyscraper.
The sixth film in the franchise bridges the films and the TV series “Cobra Kai.” Li Fong (Ben Wang) is a young martial arts student in China under the tutelage of his uncle, Han (Jackie Chan). However, he’s not too confident with his moves. But there’s a reason behind his insecurities: a year ago, his brother won a martial arts tournament, and was later killed by his opponents. Li watched, paralyzed with fear. His mother, played by Ming-Na Wen, lands a new job in Manhattan and moves Li to a new country so they can start afresh.

Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, Karate Kid: Legends is the sixth film in the popular Karate Kid franchise. Although technically a stand-alone story, it cleverly combines elements from the original movies, the 2010 remake and the Netflix series Cobra Kai. As such, it’s an entertaining, snappily paced action flick that will appeal to fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.
Ben Wang (Disney’s American Born Chinese) stars as teenager Li Fong, who moves from Beijing to New York when his mother (Ming-Na Wen) gets a new job. In doing so, he leaves behind his kung fu tutor Mr Han (Jackie Chan), though he is still traumatised from the death of his older brother, who was stabbed after winning a martial arts tournament.

“Karate Kid” is kicking its way back to movie theaters this weekend.
The latest installment of the classic franchise, “Karate Kid: Legends,” has made $2.3 million in previews so far at the box office. It’s projected to make $25 million in its opening weekend, with some estimates punching a bit higher at $30 million. With a $45 million production budget, the Sony and Columbia film should crane-kick to a tidy profit.
“Karate Kid: Legends” brings in multiple generations of stars, old and new. Ralph Macchio, who starred as Daniel Larusso in the original 1984 classic and its sequels, returns to the big screen alongside action icon Jackie Chan, who co-starred in 2010’s “The Karate Kid” opposite a young Jaden Smith. “Legends” introduces newcomer Ben Wang, a Chinese teen who moves to New York City and learns karate from Chan’s Mr. Han and Macchio’s Larusso to win the Five Boroughs karate tournament. If you’re planning to watch it in theatres but haven’t seen all the previous Karate Kid films or the Cobra Kai series, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered! This post contains spoilers for "Karate Kid: Legends."
"Karate Kid: Legends" is a film struggling to settle how closely it wants to tie itself to the franchise. With every nostalgic nod that's waxed on, another easy chance to do a better one is waxed off, cutting off avenues to connect to both the original movies and also to the now hugely popular (albeit occasionally absurd) spin-off series, "Cobra Kai." One of the most apparent and nearly perfect opportunities to bridge the aforementioned gap comes in the film's third act. Following the tradition of the titular Karate Kid, requiring a winning move to defeat his opponent, both Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) suggest altering an attack that Li's older brother tried to teach him before his untimely death.

And with the first official post-holiday “Summer cinema” weekend at the multiplex, here comes the return of another beloved movie franchise. Though it doesn’t boast the longest wait between installments, its storied history is one that the Imf might have a tough time sorting through. It’s hard to believe that the initial was over forty years ago. That flick and its two sequels became cable TV staples in the 1980s. Then, a reboot was attempted with one of the stars in 1994 with a “gender switch” for the title lead. Didn’t work, but that didn’t stop a complete remake/reboot 15 years ago, which was a modest hit. Now, after a popular “spin-off” streaming TV, here’s a “re-do” that combines and unites the original trilogy and that 2010 version. With those mixed characters and legacies, it’s no wonder that this one is labeled Karate Kid: Legends.

The fate of Ms. MarvelSeason 2 looks bleak, as one of the series' actors hints he hasn't been contacted back, including for potential appearances in other MCU projects. Ms. Marvel debuted in June 2022, and despite being one of the McU's best-reviewed projects (98% on Rotten Tomatoes), the series was also one of the least viewed. This was a combined effect of being centered on a new character with no connection to the films and airing simultaneously on Disney+ as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ms. Marvel's status as a teenage superhero makes her a natural fit for the structure of a television series, yet Disney+ has not announced any updates about the series in nearly three years.

Due to the return of original karate kid Ralph Macchio to the big screen, Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han making a welcomed comeback and the prospect of bringing together The Karate Kid (1984), The Karate Kid (2010) and TV series Cobra Kai (2018-2025), Karate Kid: Legends is one of 2025’s most anticipated movies. This time around we follow Li Fong (Ben Wang), who is uprooted from Beijing to New York by his mother after a family tragedy. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han enlists original karate kid Daniel Larusso for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown. Boasting a competent cast, entertaining fight scenes and a comeback for the ages, Karate Kid: Legends is both a fun nostalgia trip and sports movie.

Beth Dutton Shattered Molds Both In Yellowstone & On TV!(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Right from the start, Yellowstone made it clear that Beth Dutton was no ordinary TV character. Fierce, unpredictable, and unapologetically ruthless, she was the wild card in the Dutton family deck. While her brothers mostly tried to stay in their father John Dutton’s good graces, Beth did things her way. This earned her both fierce admirers and sharp critics, but one thing was certain: she was a force nobody could ignore.
Kelly Reilly, who brought Beth to life, once confessed how complex the role was. She said (via THR), “It’s hard to explain Beth or sum her up. I could talk about her for hours. She’s probably the most fascinating character I’ve ever played.” That fascination wasn’t just Reilly’s alone. Fans were hooked on Beth’s sharp wit, brutal honesty, and unshakable...

It was the crane kick seen ’round the world. There he is, skinny and picked-upon Daniel Larusso, squaring off with the Cobra Kai dojo’s resident Aryan-youth bully and ace leg-sweeper Johnny Lawrence, in the final round of the All-Valley Karate tournament. His sensei, Nariyoshi Miyagi, watches impassively from the sidelines as his prize pupil, already injured, is further hobbled by several less-than-kosher moves. Larusso refuses to give up. Harvey Specter In Suits(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Harvey Specter wasn’t iconic because he won in the drama series Suits. He was iconic because no one realized how much it cost him to hold everything together. The slick Suits, perfect comebacks, and courtroom wins were armor. What made him cool wasn’t the victories. It was how silently he carried the weight of people who needed him, while pretending he didn’t need anyone.
In my opinion, Harvey Specter spent most of the show being taken for granted. People expected him to fix everything instantly, but he got villainized when he didn’t. Take Donna, for example — she stole a document, and Harvey, rightfully, was furious. But somehow, she flipped it, played the victim, and suddenly, he was the bad guy for not fixing her mistake fast enough. Even Louis, who created drama at every turn, jumped in like Harvey...

Did Monica & Chandler Quietly Take Over Ross & Rachel’s Place In Friends?(Photo Credit –YouTube)
Long before streaming rewatches and Central Perk memes, Friends had already answered the biggest relationship question of the series, and it wasn’t Ross and Rachel. That couple may have been the headline act, but Monica and Chandler? They were the real emotional core. While the will-they-won’t-they of Ross and Rachel dominated early seasons, it was Monica and Chandler’s unexpected, beautifully flawed relationship that truly stuck the landing.
The idea that Ross and Rachel were “meant to be” made sense in theory. The pilot opened with Ross pining and ended with Rachel starting over. Classic rom-com setup. But years of petty fights, breakups, and Ross’s jealousy turned that storyline into a soap opera subplot. For a couple constantly “on a break,” they felt more exhausting than iconic.

Aramis Knight Opens Up On Ms Marvel Season 2 (Photo Credit – Hotstar)
After Kamala Khan made her electric debut in 2022’s Ms. Marvel, fans quickly latched on to Iman Vellani’s charm and authenticity. The show was praised for its representation, coming-of-age tone, and a fresh take on the superhero formula. Kamala’s transition from Disney+ to the big screen in the Marvels was seen as a step forward for the character, perhaps the first in many. But more than a year later, the future of Ms. Marvel Season 2 remains in limbo.
Now, a disheartening update has arrived from within the cast. Aramis Knight, who portrayed the vigilante Red Dagger, offered an honest outlook about his future in the franchise. Speaking to ScreenRant during the Karate Kid: Legends NYC premiere, Knight not only hinted that his return seems unlikely, he outright cast doubt on whether Ms. Marvel Season 2 will happen at all.

An unfortunate update has been revealed for the future of Ms. Marvel on Disney+. Though the first season was very well-received, boasting a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, it doesn't look like the show will ultimately be getting its second season.
Per Screen Rant, the future of Mr. Marvel was addressed by Red Dagger actor Aramis Knight in a new interview to promote the film Karate Kid: Legends. When asked if fans have seen the last of Red Dagger, Knight responded with, "I wish not, but I think so." The actor clarified that he's "not really sure" if Ms. Marvel will get a second season, but Knight is feeling that it's very unlikely, given how much time has already passed since Season 1.
When asked if there would be no Ms. Marvel Season 2, Knight said, "I don't think so. I mean it's been a long time now, so I am not really sure.

Following the show's premiere during Phase 4, a new update about the possibility of Ms. Marvel season 2 is shared by one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series stars. One of the most well-received new heroes to the MCU in recent years is Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, after she headlined her own solo series, before making her way to the big screen in The Marvels. But while Kamala hasn't been seen in the MCU since 2023, there are still questions surrounding whether Ms. Marvel season 2 is still on the table.
However, it appears that Ms. Marvel season 2 is not likely to happen, at least according to Red Dagger actor Aramis Knight. While speaking with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley at the Karate Kid: Legends NYC premiere, Knight was asked if he thinks that the MCU has seen the last of Red Dagger. The MCU star shared, "I wish not,...

While it has much in common structurally with the previous films in the Karate Kid franchise, Karate Kid Legends is cut from the same cloth as Cobra Kai in terms of tone. The sense of humor and self-awareness is intact, and it takes the drama at its core just seriously enough to make its characters’ plights worth investing in. But the fighting gets a major jump in quality thanks to Jackie Chan’s obvious influence, and even as new kung fu kid Li Fong (Ben Wang) goes through most of the same motions as the characters played by Ralph Macchio, Hilary Swank, Jaden Smith, and Xolo Mariduena before him, Legends carves out its own territory alongside the other films in the franchise—at least in its front end.

Karate Kid: Legends' Rotten Tomatoes score has been revealed – how does it compare to past movies and Cobra Kai? Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, with a script written by Rob Lieber, the sixth film in the franchise brings back Jackie Chan as Mr. Han and Ralph Macchio as Daniel Larusso, who team up to train a new Karate Kid, Li Fong (Ben Wang). Karate Kid: Legends' cast also includes Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, and Shaunette Renée Wilson.

The summer of 2025 has already seen the return of established Hollywood franchises. Lilo & Stitch is the king, but with Final Destination and Mission: Impossible, it’s no surprise that we yearn for more stories from our youth. That’s why the announcement of Karate Kid: Legends was a no-brainer. Bouncing off the success of Cobra Kai and the popularity of the 2010 soft reboot, the latest story brings the two storylines together. It’s a breath of fresh air for the franchise on the big screen, which it needed to avoid being stuck as a TV series. It’s certainly not as challenging as Karate Kid Part II, but with some downright amazing fight choreography and fight sequences, it’s undeniably more fun.

The first reviews are in for Karate Kid: Legends, the long-awaited sixth theatrical installment in the long-running martial arts franchise. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the movie will be able to live up to the critical heights of the franchise's recently concluded sequel series, Cobra Kai.
With 29 reviews counted at the time of writing, Karate Kid: Legends is currently rotten on Rotten Tomatoes with an approval rating of 55%. After all six seasons of Cobra Kai earned at least an Rt critics' score of 91%, this is a disappointing return to form for the franchise. Of course, it's not entirely surprising considering that the Karate Kid films have struggled to win over critics since the 1984 original, which is the only feature to match the critical reception of Cobra Kai with a 90% approval rating. The Rt critics' scores for the other four films, from best to worst, are 66% (2010's The Karate Kid), 45% (The Karate Kid Part II...

The first reactions are in for Karate Kid: Legends. After the Karate Kid series began in 1984, there have been multiple sequels and reboot movies, as well as the successful Netflix series Cobra Kai. Legends brings together multiple generations of the franchise as kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) goes on a journey to enter a karate competition with the help of martial arts greats Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). The movie is directed by Jonathan Entwistle.
Now, the first reactions to Karate Kid: Legends have been revealed. Reactions seemed to be very mixed, with some saying that the film does not seem cohesive and instead features disjointed sections. However, all the reactions seemed to agree that the leading performance by Wang was great. Check out some of the reactions below:
“2 branches, 1 tree.†It’s the big idea of #KarateKidLegends, linking the franchise together.

Plot: Li Fong (Ben Wang) – a Beijing-based kung fu student, is forced to leave his beloved shifu and Uncle, Han (Jackie Chan) behind when his mother accepts a job in New York City. Banned from fighting, he finds himself compelled into action once he falls for a classmate, Mia (Sadie Stanley), whose father, Victor (Joshua Jackson), is in trouble with a loan shark who owns a martial arts club.
Review: Karate Kid: Legends is a textbook example of what happens when a movie is made for no reason but to exploit a familiar IP in hopes of making a nice profit at the box office. It offers nothing new to the franchise beyond connecting the Jaden Smith-led spin-off, The Karate Kid (which should have been called The Kung Fu Kid), to the original franchise now that it’s hot again with Cobra Kai.

Because it’s the sixth installment of a 40-year-old franchise, you might assume that “Karate Kid: Legends” is going to retrofit the formula, filtering it through the sort of technologically empowered overkill that defines most latter-day sequels. There’s one explicit way that the movie updates the series. The hero, Li Fong (Ben Wang), is a teenager who’s been training at the Beijing dojo of shifu Han (Jackie Chan), where he has mastered a kung fu move called the dragon kick, a corkscrew balletic twirl that climaxes with a foot-smash to the head of your opponent — a move captured, in all its complex gymnastic glory, through rapid-fire cutting and slo-mo. It’s the film’s one concession to the four decades of Asian action cinema that have taken place since the original “Karate Kid,” and it’s designed to give you that “This is not your father’s Ralph Macchio fairy tale!

Sometimes it feels like “Karate Kid: Legends” is fighting with one hand tied behind its back.
It knows the kind of movie it wants to be, which is a film in the vein of the previous “Karate Kid” stories — including the TV series “Cobra Kai” — where a bullied teenager sorts out his personal issues with the help of a kindly mentor and no shortage of martial arts training montages. It’s a formula that may not be the kind of spectacle-drenched premise that studios now demand from their franchise plays, but it’s one that works regardless of its setting.
But it looks like Sony didn’t want a straight “Karate Kid” reboot this time (2010’s movie only made $359 million worldwide off a $40 million budget so I guess that’s unacceptable) and preferred the comfort of some familiar faces. That makes “Karate Kid: Legends” a movie that understands its identity...

In the pantheon of unnecessary legacy sequels — distant continuations that dig up decades of history to occasionally transcendent but mostly exasperating effect — it’s hard to come up with a film that gains less from its connections to the work it’s tied to than “Karate Kid: Legends.” Partly, there’s a deep sense of redundancy: the iconic ’80s “Karate Kid” martial arts franchise has already been the subject of a six-season sequel series “Cobra Kai” that just concluded a mere three months ago, which had flaws but nonetheless inspired affection for its cheeky reverence to the cheesy charms of the 1984 original film.
But more importantly, “The Karate Kid,” for as much as it reigns supreme as one of the most famous sports/martial arts films of its time, is an exceedingly simple story about a boy, his mentor, the girl he has a crush on, and the bully whose ass he kicks.

Take a dose of the original Karate Kid tetralogy, add some elements from the 2010 remake, finish it off with a soupçon of the Netflix series Cobra Kai, and you have the Frankenstein’s monster of a franchise continuation that is Karate Kid: Legends. While no one could begrudge the seemingly ageless Ralph Macchio and beloved action star Jackie Chan the opportunity to reprise their roles of Daniel Larusso and Mr. Han, respectively, this latest addition to an apparently unkillable franchise adds nothing original to the formula. It’s a formula that works, to be sure, making for a pleasant enough time filler. But that’s about it.

Karate Kid: Legends will see Ralph Macchio reprise his role as Daniel Larusso alongside Jackie Chan as Mr. Han from the 2010 Karate Kid reboot. After teaming up with William Zabka's Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai, the actor says his character is exactly where he imagined life would take him.
"He's more grounded, a little more Miyagi in his way, which is kind of how we landed him at the end of the Cobra Kai series," Macchio told GamesRadar+. "And this being a few years later, it made sense for me. He's in a place where I believed he would wind up even back in the day, and so having the opportunity to help someone who needs a little guidance and support, someone who is having a mirrored scenario that young Daniel Larusso had, just seemed like an exciting, fresh way to bring this to another generation, in this spectacular Ben Wang.

It has been a long time since we first saw that iconic crane kick. The Karate Kid franchise started in 1984 as an underdog story about a kid who learns martial arts and deals with bullies. Since then, it has become a part of pop culture, with a number of sequels, a 2010 reboot, and spin-offs like Cobra Kai. Now, Karate Kid: Legends is bringing some familiar faces again, with some new ones as well.
The movie will be the sixth movie of the franchise. It will bring the worlds of Ralph Macchio’s Daniel Larusso and Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han together and will introduce a new generation to the franchise. But who is returning, who is new, and how does it all connect? Let’s break it down one by one.
