Review: Metallic Rouge Celebrates Original Anime's Legacy
Image
Metallic Rouge is an anime that makes use of persisting science-fiction themes of co-existence between humans and androids in a futuristic society where prejudice is easy and emancipation is hard to come by. Produced by Bones, the studio behind My Hero Academia and both anime adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist, Motonobu Hori's latest directorial venture brings politics and mecha-battles to a vibrant cyberpunk world beset with inequalities in its very foundations. Co-created by Yutaka Izubuchi, with a screenplay from Toshizo Nemoto and music composition from Towa Tei, the series features the voices of Yume Miyamoto as Rouge Redstar, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Naomi Orthmann, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Jaron “Joker” Fate, and Yu Shimamura as Sarah Fitzgerald in the debut episode.

From time immemorial, humanity filled the gaps in its understanding of the world and rationalized its own fear with the conception of God as an all-powerful being atop the known universe.

Metallic Rouge Exclusive Review: Studio Bones Has Another Masterpiece in the Making
Image
Metallic Rouge is a visually stunning anime with amazing animation, fight choreography, and shot composition. The series relies on minimal exposition, allowing the audience to figure things out on their own and showcasing the intelligence of the storytelling. The protagonist, Rouge Redstar, is a complex character with a balance of quirkiness and coldness, and the series explores her growth through her conflicts of morality.

Metallic Rouge is the latest anime from Studio Bones and serves as a celebration of its 25th anniversary. Set in the future on Mars at a time when humans and androids called Neans are meant to coexist, the series follows Rouge Redstar and Naomi Orthmann, two government agents assigned to hunt down the Immortal Nine, a group of powerful Neans striking a violent fight against the oppression of their kind.

Only a few episodes of Metallic Rouge have been released so far, but it’s already...

My Hero Academia Studio Announces New Tech Noir Anime That Could Be a Sleeper Hit
Image
The self-described "tech noir" anime Metallic Rouge has plenty of interesting ideas and creative staff behind it that makes it worth keeping an eye on. Its Blade Runner-esque premise, combined with Bones' excellent animation, promises a dark but stylish spectacle. With Crunchyroll already locked in to stream the anime, it's only a matter of waiting to see what it will deliver in terms of visuals and action.

Trailer footage and the description of the plot make Metallic Rouge look like a sci-fi classic blasting right out of the past. Bones itself is also hyping up the idea of a genre throwback, as the anime's website boasts of how the staff involved last teamed up 19 years ago for the cult classic mecha show RahXephon. Regardless, the story of an interplanetary manhunt should stand out among the season's offerings.

The original fantasy series has been a big success for the streamer and centers on Henry Cavill as the grim Geralt of Rivia, the bane of supernatural beasties. The series story follows the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.
